Everything was to our liking. The only tiny tiny problem was the stairs. They are a bit steep for older people like us.

This halfway house was the nicest surprise of our entire vacation. Sherry for two, solar power, even electric blankets to warm the bed in the middle of winter!

The stay was good - everything nice, neat and clean. However, no signage showing the cottage and with the summer heat in Middleburg, an air conditioner is needed.

Yes, we had a nice stay.
Wooden stairs particularly steep, difficult for older people. Had to leave luggage in kitchenette, essential items carried upstairs in clothes pockets. Bathroom facilities clean, tidy, but bitterly cramped.
We were hospitably received and had a very nice, quick visit in the Karoo. Will definitely use the guest house again.
From reception to departure we had a very positive experience. Friendliness and warmth were the main features in a very nice and adequate place to stay.
We had to delay our trip by a few days and Marietjie altered our dates with no fuss and checked on our progress on the trip.

Marietjie and Henning are extremely hospitable and the place to stay is great. Feels like we've known each other for years.
Our hostess was Martha because Marietjie was away for an operation, but Martha gave us a friendly welcome and showed us everything. She is truly an asset. Thank you. It was also pleasant to get to know Angel, the dog, who was just too happy and basking in the attention while his people were away. Pity we could only stay one night.
The facilities were clean and functional. Very good value for money.
Although we did not see the buck on the lawn, we saw them in their confined area. Very sweet. Danger, the dog, was also a treat to see. We had a nice chat with the hostess in the evening and we met the host the following morning. Very pleasant and friendly people.

After a long and exhausting journey this was a surprising and very welcome stopover. The hostess made us feel at home very quickly and spoiled us. The steep stairs weren't as bad as we had read either - our two late sixties had no problem with them! Will definitely stay here again if we have to drive through Middelburg.

Tortelduif Cottage is excellently equipped with everything the traveler needs. It is beautifully furnished with real antique furniture and also furniture made by the owner himself. Henning and Marietjie are exceptional people and have received me so generously that I soon felt like an old friend, even family. The beautiful garden and the tame goats have created a lovely home-like atmosphere. The host and wife opened their home and also their hearts to me. Wonderful people! Thank you very, very much. It was so nice.
She was easily the friendliest hostess I have ever met. Everything was perfect, neat and clean, attention was given and just about everything one could need. The residence is beautifully furnished and you just feel at home. Will definitely spend the night there again or just have a good time.

While we were still on our way we were contacted for a possible indication of when we will arrive. We were warmly received. It was a lovely night's rest on the bed in the upper room. The bathroom is very small. Please remember to bend down. There was coffee/tea and milk to tide you over. Outside is a lovely place to hang out. Owner had already gone to work when we left again. She made an effort to call us if we enjoyed it and to wish us a safe trip. The kid is too beautiful. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay, Tortelduif.

Beautiful little cottage, situated in a nice garden behind the main house. It was lovely to see the Springboks jumping around in the garden and to help feed them.

It is a beautiful cozy place with everything needed. Very special with the cutest decor. Note that the stairs to the bedroom are not suitable for older people, but if you are still young and agile, it is worth it.

Tasteful interior decorating with durable old-school wooden furniture. Very stylish but a bit uncomfortable. Bed is very high, steep steps from kitchen to bedroom and bathroom from kitchen, so good planning is needed to eliminate unnecessary climbing. Lovely garden with braai facilities. Good overnight place and good value for money.
The host and hostess made us feel so welcome. Marietjie went the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible, from a salad with our braai meat and corn porridge before we ventured the long way again, as well as unpacking toys for our little girl to play with in the garden. Definitely worth it!
Place is small but very neat. Steep steps to the top floor where the sleep unit, toilet and shower is located. Wouldn't recommend to someone who has a problem with climbing stairs, also not recommended for children. Plus point: it's very neat.

Beautiful little place. Stairs dangerous and impassable for anyone over 60. Friendly people trying hard to create a pleasant experience, but definitely not for everyone.

Friendly reception and comfortable stay. Everything we needed was there and the unit is well equipped. We suggest that guest should be made aware of the stairs before arrival, because it could be a problem for some.
Marietjie and Henning have the wonderful gift of hospitality and kindness. They made us feel at home, so much so that we will take a further drive to our future location just so that we can visit them again. The apartment was tastefully decorated with older furniture and all the facilities were neat and clean. The cottage is walking distance from the supermarkets, and everything is well equipped for self-catering and to braai. We highly recommend the accommodation.

Very cute cottage. Not recommended for older guests. There are a lot of steep steps. The fact that my dogs could stay with us, was fantastic. They were safe and couldn't get out. We were welcomed warmly.
Marietjie went out of her way to return a forgotten ring to us in Colesberg. The accommodation was clean, tidy and tastefully furnished.
Cosy, spotless and well-equipped nest. Ideal for the younger overnight traveller. Pleasant host/wife, private and centrally located.
Sorry, but I can't recommend it, although the owner seems very friendly and competent. Maybe younger people won't have a problem with the stairs and awkward shower facilities. But can't recommend it for older spouse. Middelburg was a bit of a disappointment. Few or no proper restaurants. The hotel will probably be the best option if we ever visit Middelburg again.
