32 guests' feedbackThe stay was amazing, the owner was very helpful and friendly, the house was nice with amazing views. Would definitely go back again.
It was amazing and very easy-going access place. Everything was beautifully laid out. We felt right at home and did not want to leave.
Location perfect. Have a nice time thank you.
Celebrated a birthday weekend away with Friends, and loved the fact that each room has its own en-suite bathroom. The place takes after its name as it was indeed a weekend of Tranquility. Relaxing in the Jacuzzi with its magical views of the lake and splash pool to cool off in.
The location of the place is the best. Tranquility itself. Lots to do and see if you are a nature person. A must for water sports persons. Wonderful experience. Definitely a must.
The host was very accommodating and was always available. The accommodation was spacious and fully equipped with everything one would need on a weekend away.
We were a group of 10 and on the last night, two more people joined us. Because I didn't say from the start that we were 12, I had to pay R700 extra. So book from the start for 12. We had a great time. The following bothered me: 1) The response of the owner is no response, but Maria, who takes care of the house, received us kindly. 2) There is no exit to the outside, other than via the (now) car parking space next to the house, where 3 cars can stand in a row - should a fire break out. 3) There is only one set of keys, if he loses it, you are on the street (Maria does not have an extra pair of keys and the owner is I don't know where). 4) The bedding and beds are of poor quality. It's not your standard bed with a base, the fitted sheet doesn't fit and how many times a night does he have to fix it, because you're lying on the mattress, etc. If you can look past this, then this is the place for you. Would I stay there again, I don't think so. I slept badly, but had a good time. The house is beautiful, big and comfortable. What would I have liked differently? That there was at least one room with two single beds and not just all 6 rooms with double beds and that the bathroom should have had a door. All the bathrooms are half part of the room and very bad for anyone who is not a couple.
Stay was okay! Not wow. Entire accommodation needs an upgrade. Bedding not up to standard. It was dirty as well. We washed the blankets. The pool was broken and was only made available to us when we arrived. We could only use the Jacuzzi from Saturday as it would not warm up since Friday. We switched it on again at 12:00 on Saturday and could only use it for 3 hours as it was only warming up past 8, and then the electricity went out after 23:00 and we could not get hold of anyone to assist, so we had to go to bed early. No iron at the accommodation?
Good morning. Tranquility weekend ……. A family weekend away, what could be better. Great excitement and even greater expectations as we all left Cape Town. Rather expensive but we were sure that for the price everything would be 100%. We arrived and the position is lovely, on the water just what we wanted, but that is where the loveliness ends. We paid for 6 rooms for 12 people and were told that we would be allocated R500 electricity for the three nights that we were there, which ran out on the last day. Just as well we didn’t use the jacuzzi or the air-conditioning that was advertised as it might have been a worse situation. And now for the house review: There is a TV and decoder, but we were charged an extra R50/day, which promptly went off early on the last day, so we only really had the TV for 2 ½ days. There is no dishwasher, which is a standard in holiday homes, so we paid extra for a cleaning lady to come in each morning. The bedrooms all had very old and in some cases broken duvet covers, curtains that were hanging half off the rails, and bedside lamps with no plug in the wall. The one bathroom had a broken toilet seat. There were no braai tongs, so we bought one for R200 and left it behind. I requested a refund but never received a reply. The geyser leaked so we had to place a bucket for the drips to avoid anyone slipping on the wet tiles. The shower drains in both of the front room’s bathrooms were blocked and overflowed when the shower was used. The shower heads in all 4 downstairs bathrooms need a clean as the water just squirts out in places. The swimming pool has a major leak so needs to be filled up from time to time. The freezer doesn’t freeze, more like a fridge than a freezer. And now to top it all, after I was told that I needed to pay a R20.00 breakage deposit that would be returned a week after our stay, well it’s been 10 days and still nothing, even after asking the managing agents, nothing has transpired. R20.00 for a 3-night stay was a complete rip-off and I think if the owners of Tranquility would like to carry on renting out this home, they really have to up their game!
All the doors of every room that have to be closed struggle because wood that was swollen, so we could barely close some of the doors. Freezer makes terrible noise. Refrigerator freezes everything, even on the hottest setting. No cover for jacuzzi to keep heat in, so it wastes power, and you are only supplied with a certain amount of power and with the cold winter and no cover, it wastes money and power. Roof leaks in lobby and is already rotten as it leaks. Grill grids were dirty and grill was full of grease and dirt when we got there. No braai tongues available. Jacuzzi deck's wood is rotten, so you can't sit or walk on it. Jacuzzi is old and the paint it was redone with is looking up. Tiles outside in lobby are cracked and broken. Gas hob is struggling to work, burners flames are not all working and need a service or cleaning. Not enough glasses for 8 people. Banks have already been evicted and need a makeover. No wifi. You have to pay for DStv separately to start. No load shedding lights or candles. Knives/cutlery needs an upgrade, no bread knife available.
This was a weekend away reward for our supervisors. It was ideal in the size and in the entertainment areas. Lots of time spent in the water and in the Jacuzzi. We have been to 4 places together and rate this one the best.
The place is ideal for a large group of people and the view of Port Owen Marina is beautiful. The boiler and DStv unfortunately did not work, too few glasses for large groups, some of the light bulbs were out of order, and the mattresses in the ground floor rooms are terribly hard and difficult to sleep on. For visitors who spend most of their time in the residence, these are important aspects that definitely receive attention.
The report I had from the directors that there were small things that could have been improved. The TV set didn't work - also there was no washing liquid and hand soap either. Other than that they had a good stay.
Tranquility serves and does justice to its name- peaceful and quiet surroundings. Modestly furnished with warm decor. Open and welcome atmosphere. Awesome and breathtaking view on your doorstep. Just a shame that the Jacuzzi and the microwave did not heat up. The DStv did not want to play and it rained in.
The plumbing needs to be fixed as well as the jacuzzi, water kept on seeping out. We were a group of 12 ladies and had a fabulous time after the last year and a half with the pandemic. Will recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to unwind and enjoy the tranquility.
Only some of the chairs were broken. My mother collapsed with chair. Shower was broken in master bedroom. Scullery faucet was broken so plumber had to come out. Pans look badly used though. As well as other kitchen equipment. But other than that it was a lovely home to visit.
Nice house and perfect location on the river, ideal for a large group of people the house just needs maintenance, a bit neglected for the type of money you pay a day.
The place was beautifully clean. Perfect location on the water with its own jetty where we could moor our boat. Enough rooms and nice living areas with large indoor braai area. Can really be recommended.
The place was amazing.
I would like to thank Melanie and Zelda for a beautiful holiday, your home is really amazing and you guys made it really special for us.
Place looks exactly like on photos, we as a family enjoyed it a lot. Just the right place if you want to relax. The lady who welcomed us, Melanie, very kind person.
We were a group of 11 of which 2 were children, 6 and 10 years respectively. There wasn't a dull moment. The house is very well equipped and due to the large living area and kitchen, we could enjoy our stay together. The house was very neat and clean in all respects and Melanie explained how everything worked and we ensured that we could call her at any time if we needed anything. Thanks again for the nice time we could spend there. Tranquility will definitely see us again.
Wonderful place, the pictures don’t do the place justice.
Tranquillity was a great place to stay for our research group, with the easy access to the river and the large rooms. It may be awesome if 2x single bed options were available in the rooms instead of doubles. It suited our needs perfectly. I would suggest it to any group wanting stay in the area.
One of the best places I have visited in a long time. Only disappointment was that the kayak did not come with life jackets. Despite this, rowing on the river early morning is probably the best wake up one can have. We absolutely enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyed it a lot and a place where the kids are busy at the swimming pool, table tennis, pool, darts and fishing. A lot of space. Place is clean and has everything that you need for a good getaway. Clifford was very helpful and Melani who opens up and closes is on time and friendly.
We had a really nice stay, everything was so big and tidy. The location was absolutely breathtaking and we really enjoyed that Jacuzzi in the drought that the Cape is experiencing. Will definitely recommend it to lots of people.
We had a fantastic time and the house was everything it promised and more!
The place was great. The only negative is that tiles around pool was loose and slippery. 2 of our group hurt themselves there.
We are a large family who have been holidaying from the Cape and paid for 3 nights for a house full of mistakes! For starters we have waited 20 min. outside Port Owen for Melanie (hostess) who let us know that she are almost in town and she can meet us at home soon. We waited for Melanie for 45 minutes. This is after we have followed up twice on how far she is. Eventually she came and welcomed us. She was friendly, but from the start she started pointing out mistakes that we needed to watch out for. A bunch of keys was given to us, but not once did she show which key was for which door. The tags are so old you can't read anything. The pool has cracked tiles all around which are dangerous to any person standing there. In addition, Melanie tells that the small pool is leaking and we have to watch out that he doesn't get too empty or the pump burns out! We are told the garden hose is around the corner and we have to make it perfect. The fridge in the kitchen's one leg is off and lies against the upright-standing freezer and we are told that if the fridge's fan may stop we just have to open and close the door a few times then it will come again ! The kettle, an old rusted boiler from Shoprite who saw better days, is in the kitchen. When we used it later, we realised the spout had burst open and water was flowing down the boiler, and more water was coming to the counter than in your cup! Melanie promised to bring a new one, we were still here! No gas or very little gas. Melanie tells us she thinks the previous people were using everything and she would bring us the next day, but she couldn't find anything today because the whole town has no gas. For us who paid so much, she could have gone to Vredenburg for gas. Jacuzzi: One day the water smelled like chlorine, then we noticed that the Jacuzzi did not have fresh water when we checked in. Instead, a lot of chlorine was poured in and burned from our people's skin. Day two we could not at all use the Jacuzzi due to the rotten water smell. Broken curtain rail: One day when one of our people wanted to use the toilet and the curtain closed, the whole rail came off the wall. It was said that it was so and she knows it. Leaking Toilet: on day 2, one of the bathrooms' toilet began to leak into the room as a result of which many of our personal items were wet and damaged. When we reported it to Melanie she said she would send someone on Friday (when we would check out). She sent somebody earlier, but it started to leak again. My children had to go home earlier because of the leaking toilet! Upstairs bedroom: The top-floor doors can't close and are unsafe. Bedroom that overlooked the canal lookout patio doors we wanted to open. After I have been through the whole bunch of keys to see which key is just right, I realised that the key is just broken. General: The kitchen equipment and crockery are of extremely poor quality (not even 4 of one kind of glass, plastic champagne glasses and chopped plates etc.). The mattresses are also cheap and thin and beds crack. No second TV in main bedroom as advertised. Table tennis rackets broken and no whole balls. Broken lounge furniture (completely unravelling cane chair). We wonder if the owner is aware of the condition of his home and all these mistakes. One can see that no money obtained by guests is put back in the home's maintenance. We would not recommend this house to anyone.
Everyone had such a great kuier around the braai and DStv was a great bonus since we could watch the rugby. Well equipped and easily sleeps 12 people. Would stay here again!
The location is great, the house was clean and the reception very friendly, but the house and equipment in general are tired and in need of attention.
