75 guests' feedbackVery friendly and helpful host. Very good experience and we will definitely stay there again.
Full of character and value for money.
We had a wonderful stay, place clean and cosy, hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Old town house, which offers a cozy atmosphere.
Andre was incredibly hospitable. He made sure we had everything we needed and had the heater turned on for our arrival.
That's exactly what one needs. Quiet, neat and clean. Down to earth and comfortable. The wooden floors bring back many good memories. People should think carefully before they complain about some things that are beyond people's control.
The cute little house is 149 years old! Nicely furnished. We had a great stay! Thank you for the hospitality.
Thank you very much, nice old-fashioned farmhouse atmosphere.
We had a very nice stay. It is quiet and peaceful and exactly what we needed after a long day on the road. I love the old, emboya furniture. The house is spacious and it was nice to have a dining room table as well.
Very old house, neat and clean with even an Air Frier. Friendly welcome.
Safe, clean and peaceful accommodation. Comfortable and plenty of space, and the host looked after us well. The lock up garage is definitely a welcome bonus.
This was our 2nd time at Trappieskop and we will definitely go back again. Excellent service and the hosts are awesomely friendly and helpful.
Very neat and quiet and perfect for an overnight rest. House is very spacious and beautiful and the lock up garage is definitely a nice bonus. Andre is a good host.
Its a very old house but has all the amenities that one could possibly need. The garage key had been broken so Andrew, the host had to lock the garage from the inside and unfortunately our bakkie alarm kept going off and we had no access to the bakkie without disturbing him. Fortunately he lives next door and we eventually woke him at 3h40 to open up for us and we left. The shower in the bath might be tricky for an elderly or someone not fit. Also mention should be made to bring drinking water although there was a 5litre water there, it hissed when I opened it. The kind complimentary shower gel and handsoap was appreciated, as was the tea and coffee and restaurant menus, although the one we chose had gone up in price. The ceiling fan also welcome. The photo needs to be updated as "chicken wire" is being installed on the verandah to uograde safety. Apparently locals can be pesty if they spot a foreign car.
Nostalgic. Well equipped. Tidy. Very good WiFi. Surfaces may be too busy to put guests' belongings.
It was like going back in time. Some absolute gems in furniture. I just love the old styles. The house must be nearing 150 years old. Loved it. Hanover itself was down to zero degrees outside. We slept warm as toast.
It was a pleasant stay.
The house was clean and tidy with the hosts ensuring that everything was functional. Definitely a place to spend the night, especially if you like old-timey charm.
Had a nice stay. Thank you.
Well equipped place with everything we needed.
Considering the price point - one of the cheaper options on the site - Trappieskop was a wise decision on my part. The place is spacious, well appointed and, vital for Hanover, has a mosquito net over the bed. The caretaker right next door is there to help with any issues or enquiries.
Step foot needs a lot of loving attention. And definitely a better mattress.
We only stayed for two nights; one on our trip to the Western Cape and the other returning to Gauteng. The place is superficially neat and offers the basic. It requires some TLC in terms of interior paint and securing floor board. There is an unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke - even in the bedroom.
The only fault was that there could have been a fan available. The 1 ceiling fan in the house was very high and didn't help at all.
I just want to object to the fact that due to load shedding there was no water for bathing or washing. No effort was made to overcome the problem. It created a poor impression.
This is comfortable overnight accommodation.
The house was like going back in time. It was very charming. We enjoyed the recommendation for food.
Not really, and I know people are having a hard time etc. The conditions inside were more of a problem. Fan makes all kinds of noises. Strange coupling and wires everywhere. Fridge / Freezer in a terrible state. Sheets on beds worn and torn.
Friendly reception. Have fun. Owner just needs to check for leak in living room roof.
Good overnight stay between Pretoria and Western Cape.
Lovely peaceful stay.
Great stay and relax.
Old-fashioned charm and most importantly: a lovely bed to sleep on.
Our stay was very pleasant in this old world house. The back garden is beautifully maintained and the owner is friendly and helpful.
Pet friendly.
Terribly delicious and beautiful.
Great old house (1875), furnished accordingly. André is a great host and very informative.
Eduard was very helpful, because we had to leave the heavy trailer we were dragging with us at his house. House was beautiful and clean.
Stair kick is a gem. Eduard went more than the extra mile. Thanks also to André who received us and immediately made us feel at home. I would definitely stay here again.
It's a lovely place, quite big with 2 lounges, separate dining room and separate kitchen is also quite big. There was cold water and ice in the fridge on arrival. There is a bath and shower, which is awesome as I hate showering and most places only have showers. This is really one of the few places we have ever stayed in that had everything. Seriously, they even put charcoal, firelighters and a lighter. There is a cool box. The garden at the back is quite big and secure for my two border collies. They had a fan - everything one could need was there.
Host very helpful and hospitable. House well equipped. Also dog friendly - big plus.
Very comfortable stay and the rooms are decorated with very pretty vintage furniture.
There are one or two things that could be improved, but we had a great stay! It was just a quick stopover between Gauteng and Cape Town.
For an overnight stay it is perfect. One does not need much. The place is very old which makes it unique. We had to look for plates, because it seems to me people go out to eat but usually go out when they sleep over. At least was able to locate it so we could make food. The floor cracks a lot and repairs are needed here and there. We couldn't get the hot water in the kitchen right so had to boil the kettle for washing dishes. All problem we had was with the toilet. It was very dirty and it does not rinse properly. Andrè, who lives next door, is incredibly friendly and kind. My husband says it's the most comfortable bed he's ever had in a sleepover. We will stay there again on our way to Cape/PTA.
My impression was that Trappieskop was a family home for many years. Now it has been converted into an overnight accommodation and has everything you might need; particularly hot water, a heater, electric blanket, and cooking on gas so necessary in winter in Hanover. But it also has a lot of extra ornaments and bric-a-brac and lace curtains and shutters so that it was slightly dark within and hard to see out because, curtains and shutters and lace curtains aside, every window sill and bureau surface was used for ornaments and decorative bottles. Our host was very kind and obliging.
The water tank was empty when I wanted to take a shower that evening. Driver responded quickly and turned on borehole pump, and I was able to shower within 15 minutes.
The house was not clean. Everthing had dust on it. We understand loadshedding but we could not shower or use the toilet on arrival nor on the day of departure. So no shower toilet facilities. Pictures do not reflect the accommodation at all. Actually we were disgusted.
Everything needed is provided. Even a dishwasher.
I was booked at Trappieskop in July and traveled with a bakkie and trailer. However, when Bruce found out that I also had a trailer, he immediately offered that I should stay at Tuinhuis instead because I could park there with a pick-up truck and trailer behind a locking gate right at the entrance door without making any payment! It was very nice and of course I appreciated it. Tuinhuis has everything you need, is fully furnished and comfortable in every way and can definitely be recommended for families looking for a safe and peaceful place to stay.
If you are interested in antiques, this is the place for you. Cozy place in the Northern Cape, with a real small town feel! Was a peaceful place to sleep, hosts already had heaters and warm blankets on when we arrived. Will definitely use Trappieskop again!
A pleasant step back in time. The "Vintage" furniture is in excellent condition. Everything was very neat and clean, everything you need. Host was very helpful. I would stay there again anytime.
Thank you very much for a lovely overnight stay, it is exceptionally good value for money.
Andre very pleasant and friendly. Cottage and contents old-fashioned, but very neat and clean. Very good value for money. Big plus is the lock-up garage.
In one word Bravo. Will always sleep there.
Old-fashioned furniture with the charm it deserves.
The well-fenced garden is ideal for people traveling with their dogs. It is also a nice garden to have barbecues outside in the tranquility of the small Karoo village.
The host Andre was absolutely the personification of personal service and attention. He lives next door. You even have a lock-up garage for your car. Very interesting town.
Had no problems, maybe could just pay more attention to dusting, even the glasses / mugs were very dusty both times we slept over.
Friendly owners went out of their way to accommodate rescheduling of our booking date. Secure lock up parking. Old house with nice old fashioned furniture. We could peacefully spend the night there.
Perfectly halfway between Jhb and the Cape, small but comfy, with lots of personality and a bit of a garden in the back where we could let our dogs loose after a day's drive.
We felt at home.
Fully equipped antique house. Lovely people to meet and welcome you to Hanover. Plus point was the garage where we could store and lock our bike in.
Friendly reception, very hospitable.
We could have a nice chat as TV didn't have waffle channels and loadshedding happened. Was allowed to smoke in the lounge which is not allowed in other places.
See stars.
Very old house but everything was nice and clean.
Initially upon arrival in the rain, I couldn't get any answer from any of the agents' numbers and had to get out of the car and knock, but received a friendly welcome and the rest as mentioned above.
Initially, the strong smell of pets/smoking is a little off-putting.
Would suggest looking at cleanliness of bedding. And also drinks available.
The house was very dusty and dirty. The bathroom and kitchen were particularly creepy. There were dirty rings and hair in the tub and sink. There were leaves and papers on the porch. The Weber grill was not clean. The boiler was not working properly. The place has a lot of potential if it is cleaned thoroughly.
The house was not clean or tidy. Previous people's rubbish still in the bin, shower not working, bedding's life past. Place also had musty smell. No fan to relieve heat slightly.
The service friendly, cottage and antique furniture create a nice memory of the past, but infrastructure lacks attention, ceilings not maintained, 3 types of yellow shades on master bedroom wall, copper bed that is fixed with cable-ties, dirty windows and dirty cups, pan, dishcloths and spoons was a thriller experience.
