Perfect stopover between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Spacious, comfortable and safe parking. Communication with Marie via WhatsApp was great and was waiting for us on arrival.
I wouldn't stay at any other place but Travelers Joy. Professional, hospitable and excellent service.

Very clean and tidy, very modern.
It was not great. The purpose of this was to sleep over with the emphasis on sleep. The bed was uncomfortable and covered in linen spray or something. Lights from outside shining in. Not enough hot water for everyone to have a shower in the morning.
Room was cold, no room heater. Floorboards were overly squeaky. Couldn't move without them squeaking. No chair in room to sit and relax. No wifi offered.
We spent the night at Travelers Joy on our way to Cape Town. Late check-in was not a problem at all and we were kindly received at the gate and escorted to our room. The family unit is spacious with a small bar fridge, microwave, cutlery and coffee/tea, as well as fresh milk and a mug of water. Lovely warm bedding and electric blankets for the cold! Secure parking behind a car gate. We had a nice and warm shower and slept, ready to continue the long journey. We would love to stay at Travelers Joy again. Thank you very much!

Lovely character house with original 200yr old floors. Modern amenities, very comfy. Even has a small wind-pump filled reservoir for a cool down dip. Within walking distance of a great restaurant. We had a Collie with us that was welcomed and could run around freely. Great place!
Marie provided information on load shedding schedules early in the morning which helped a lot with our planning. She also goes out of her way to make it as convenient as possible in our (no power and water) existence. The rooms with their old world original wooden floors are much nicer and bigger than in the photos!
When I first arrived Marie was waiting for me outside to great me. Electricity was off due to fault in Colesberg but she kept me updated. It was cold and rainy and one of the services they offer is you can order food for delivery to your room which was great. Steeped in history these rooms are actually a national monument, so quite the experience.
To ensure that guests get a good night's rest, the neighbour's dog that kept barking will definitely have to be looked after. It's not Travelers Joy's fault, but when you're tired and want to sleep and a dog keeps you awake it's hard. . Because of the dog's barking I will definitely not use the outstanding facility again.

We slept over on the way to Cape Town. It was very neat and clean and we were welcomed with open arms. It was a very nice overnight stay and we can recommend it.
The room was very clean, neat and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfortable. Marie the hostess was amazing. I would highly recommend this as a stay-over or even a longer vacation destination. My large dog travelled with me, and the facility was able to accommodate him as well. Will definitely make this my go-to place to stay in Colesberg in future.

The ancient windmill at the back of the premises is a real gem. The fresh water pumped in the summer should make the pond a lovely pool.
The room is big and beautiful with everything you need. However, the problem was that there was no WiFi available and we therefore had to go to a restaurant with all our laptops and devices.

We booked a specific room that was advertised as a king size bed, and then due to other reservations were put in another room that had a very small bed. This was not completely acceptable for us, because I have a very tall man who does not fit on a regular bed. Furthermore, the visit was acceptable.

It seems as if the owners are busy renovating the rooms. Currently, the first impressions are not good.
The fridge would make a loud whistling noise every time we switched it one and it kept us awake. No facilities for washing dishes available.
For the money we paid, the room is not up to standard at all. If Travelers Joy wants to receive further guests, they will have to refurbish the room and bedding.
Our hostess called early in the morning to confirm our reservation. Due to adversity on the way, she went out of her way to make sure that one of the local restaurants' kitchens remained open, so that we could still have dinner. Lovely clean accommodation with personal service. Even cold water and milk in the fridge. We will come again, but this time we will book in advance.

We had a very comfortable and well equipped unit. However, there is peeling paint in the bathroom and on one wall. Needs a little maintenance, but otherwise very neat. Good value for money for overnight stay. However, the unit is well equipped for a longer stay as well.
Returning from CPT we arrived later than planned. Our host was very accommodating and friendly. The room was very neat and clean. Loved the shower and pool after a long days travel. Would highly recommend the establishment!

Needs maintenance (cracked walls and peeling paint, untidy electrical wiring). Considering the wide variety of accommodations in Colesberg this these facts may impact negatively on the choice to stay here.

When we arrived, tired after travelling 9 hours, we arrived at a closed door. We had to make various phone calls whether the lodge is still operating or what, as it looked deserted. Only after various telephone calls and waiting for 40 minutes, somebody arrived and booked us in. No apologies etc.
