There was ample space for them to romp around for some off-leash fun. It was heartwarming to see our dogs so happy and relaxed. The accommodation itself was incredibly cozy. We spent our evenings curled up by a warm, inviting fireplace, enjoying the tranquil ambiance. The pretty dams were fully stocked with trout. The hosts were a highlight of the trip. Their friendliness and genuine hospitality made us feel like part of the family. They were always available with helpful tips and recommendations, enhancing our overall experience. One of the standout features of our getaway was the hiking opportunities. Overall, this weekend away exceeded all expectations. It was a perfect blend of scenic beauty.

Treeferns Trout Lodge is very well located and a beautiful place with beautiful ponds, walking trails and green grass plains. Our 4 foot child enjoyed it just as much. She had enough space to run and have fun swimming in the ponds.
We had a highly enjoyable stay at Treeferns. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating with our big group. Our group enjoyed the trout fishing and clay pigeon shooting. The facilities are very good. Don't forget to take a walk to the waterfalls. We loved hearing about the history of the farm.
Some dams had no fish and others were not stocked/poorly stocked. The accommodation was basic but serviced daily, which made it convenient. Take along hot water bottles and extra blankets as the unit gets very cold at night. Electric blankets would help a lot. The lodge is neat and well-maintained, but enquire about the stocking of the dams before booking.

We had a lovely stay at Treeferns Trout Lodge. The dams and scenery were beautiful. Panorama was cozy, comfortable, and clean. We booked brown trout, but they told us we were staying in Panorama. It ended up being a better location for our small children.
Fishing was good, place is neat and well serviced every day. Would recommend to any fly angler.

Treeferns Lodge is in a beautiful setting and the chalets are spaced out ensuring privacy. Lots of dams to try to fish at. The fireplaces inside the unit are lovely. The clay pigeon shooting is a must-try - we had lots of fun with that.
Advertised as fishing lodge, almost no fish in dams. Management made excuses of why fish were not biting.
On arrival we were told that the ponds were all freshly stocked with fish. This was not the case with several other people who approached us with the same complaints. There were a total of 2 fish in the most stocked pond and not one bite from a fishing rod for more than 3 units of people. At least got a small discount for the expensive fishing costs.
I would defenitely go to Treeferns trout lodge again. The owner and staff are so awesome, kind and always friendly. The house we stayed in is very peaceful, the birdlife is also amazing here. The flowing water from dam to dam just made the heart peacful and happy. The beds are so amazing as well. It is not everywhere that you can say you slept comfortably and here we were very comfortable. My little people enjoyed it here as well. There was a trampoline and swing for them to play on and they enjoyed their walks from dam to dam as well. I would defenitely go to Treeferns again.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The owners were very friendly and without a doubt looked after our interests, which in any case were neither large nor many. Brown Trout was beautiful with his deck over Dam 1. The fireplace came in handy over the cold wet weekend and we never ran out of wood. The lapa was fully equipped and ideal for larger groups staying in different units. The dirt road on the way there was somewhat of a challenge due to rain and small cars would have definitely struggled. The ponds are well maintained and stocked with trout. We look forward to visiting again especially after the bathrooms have been upgraded as well. We can easily recommend Treeferns for a relaxing weekend away.
Owners were very friendly and helpful. The dog and I enjoyed the walking paths. The ponds are full of water and there are 13 ponds to choose from. Although my husband caught trout for the first time, he had a bite. There are plenty of fish in the ponds. The cottages have a fireplace that creates a nice atmosphere. Cottages were clean and tidy. The 13 km dirt road to the lodge was a bit bad. I wouldn't do it with a regular car. We will go again for sure. Was a nice weekend.

But: The 13 km roads are not suitable for an ordinary vehicle. It was an absolute stressful nightmare drive that took over an hour to lay down, and another hour to leave. Thank you.
Clean spring water and hills surrounds made for a nice 4 night stay to explore the area by mountain bike. Take the dirt roads to Dullstroom for lunch or coffee or down to past sky farms allows for some lovely loops to ride by bike and then relax next to the trout dams after a ride.
Would recommend anytime, value for money.
The resort is ideal for a weekend break away to get away from the daily rush. The accommodation is adequate, the scenery spectacular and the fishing awesome. I am planning my next trip already.
We had a great long weekend at Tree Ferns. It is not luxurious, but little treats show that the owners care about their guests. For example, the good beds and linen, and the cleaning service included in the price. Honestly, we haven't experienced this level of quality at a fly-fishing and fishing venue in a long time. They put a lot of effort into it. Topnotch customer service. Maria helped a lot. She is a great manager. We're already planning our next visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit to Treeferns Trout Lodge. Our accommodation was very nice and well furnished. 13 trout ponds to choose from in the most beautiful scenery. My husband tested quite a few of the dams and had success. Our mountain bikes are together and I can recommend that. For a weekend getaway in nature where you can relax wonderfully, this place is a gem. Johnny and Maria's service is personal and they make an effort to make sure you enjoy your visit. The dirt road is quite worn out in places, especially after the rain. Sedan cars will have to take it slow, with the SUV it wasn't a problem. We would love to visit again.

The tranquillity and scenery of Treeferns made for a wonderful getaway. Most beautiful hiking trail with waterfalls in the Champagne Valley! Look forward to going back - especially after the planned upgrades. Maria and Johnny are amazing hosts.
Nice houses and well maintained. Service is friendly and all requests are quickly taken care of. However, the houses are very cramped with little seating and storage space. Fishing is difficult, probably due to too many anglers as well as "spawn" time.

Treeferns Trout Lodge is a gem! We had a lovely stay and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful environment in which to go angling. Our dog children had just as much fun! Maria and Johnny were amazing and absolutely went out of their way to ensure that everything was perfect for us. We hope to return soon.

Treeferns is an exceptional place, with lovely dams and beautiful nature. The cottage is well equipped and was perfect for our goals. The road to the farm is bad, and mustn't be attempted with a low car. Our Jetta hit a rock and it made a hile in the engine's oil bottom. I repeat - do not attempt the road with a normal car, at best you can crawl along at 50 km/h. The host and hostess was helpful and the staff are very friendly. I will definitely recommend Treeferns to anyone looking for a secluded getaway with beautiful natural surroundings, as long as they have a SUV.
