We were greeted by a friendly, helpful host. The history and decor of the house gives a nostalgic experience. We slept very comfortably.
Very nice stay for the evening on the way to Johannesburg. 166 year old house in a historic area, it felt like my grandmother's house and full of nostalgic things like an old telephone, portraits etc.
Friendly hosts, awesome accommodation, value for money.
We had a great night in Tuin Huis! The dinner at the Hanover Hotel had also been first class.
Nice cottage with atmosphere and 'rechargeable energy' light bulbs for loadshedding.
Very nice stay, owner was great, service perfect.
People, they were very helpful.
Very special place and decor from the late 1950s, full of nostalgia!
We traveled with our 3 German Shepherds (our "young children"), and we were greeted by the kindest and most engaging gentleman, Bruce and Eduard. They were able to meet us despite arriving after dark, and walked us through the place. The home itself has everything you need to crash, prepare something to eat, shower and sleep after a long journey. Their garden outside is rich with vegetation and beauty. I am so proud that I could stay here.
The hosts were absolutely fantastic. Everything was quiet, clean and safe. I will definitely recommend this as a fully equipped, large, homely place to rest while passing through the Karoo.
Comfortable stay in lovely old house. Nice sitting area outside, ideal for dogs.
Very clean. Hosts were amazing.
We were kindly received and had a comfortable and convenient stay on our way to Cape Town.
Had a wonderful stay. Clean and has everything you need for a great overnight stay. Friendly reception.
Was very nice and clean. Took me back to my younger days. Wish I could have stayed another night.
We enjoyed the cottage with all the interesting antiques.
My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful stay! The overnight stay was deliciously warm, the wood dust very homely and the antiques made me nostalgic for my childhood!
Very nice house if you need rest after a long drive!
It was so nice to stay there. We had privacy and very friendly people. I will go back there for sure.
Was perfect for an overnight stay. Comfy bed with hot shower two restaurants within walking distance.
THe house was buidl 166 Years ago, so comes with all the things an old house has: Charm, but also cold. There where plenty of heated blankets, wallmounted heaters and an antracite stove. Sadly the stove was in the kitch/dinning room area and not close to the bedrooms.
Very nice. Thank you for the hospitality. Very cute place.
Had a nice stay, and slept well.
We slept well. Hosts went out of their way to accommodate us. Cottage has a nice old fashioned atmosphere.
Interesting house. Used gas stove with load shedding. Very friendly host.
The house is very old and it seems that the owners wanted to keep the original character with the interior of the house, so everything is old, but everything was clean and the beds are comfortable.
After our previous weekend's stay this cannot compare. If you are looking for a karoo house experience, then this is surely for you.
Friendly host and very tasty barbecue.
Unfortunately not. Bed linen and towels did not smell fresh.
Slept well, but unfortunately the house and contents are older than in the photos. It's an interesting house, but not the type of place I usually book.
Although Hanover is such a small town, the Garden House offers a very nice pit stop opportunity. Self-catering unit with a nice big garden for the dogs and children. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Tuin Huis and visit again.
Our stay was wonderful.
Great service, really nice stay! Thanks for everything!
Excellent service and friendliness.
The house and people are friendly and safe in that street and location too. Hanover himself says nothing.
Slept very well. Nice big house. Bed is nice and big and pillows nice and soft. Very neat and pleasant. Kids stay over the WiFi to stream their shows. Lol. Would definitely recommend Tuin Huis to everyone. Will definitely stay here again.
Thank you very much for all your effort. The heaters were on. Warm blankets too and the little stuff. Very interesting house with interesting decor. Was very kindly received.
Very cute house with loads of character. Thank you very much for the extra effort. Warm blankets and heaters were on. And the fabric created a nice atmosphere. Thanks again for everything!
The shower's hot water had very weak pressure, so you have to stand almost against the wall to take a shower. Otherwise no problems, slept very well and will certainly sleep there again or refer.
Hosts go to great lengths to light the fire to heat the place. Always clean and tidy.
Eduart and his brother Bruce are the hosts and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. There are heaters in the rooms and electric blankets, but the icing on the cake is the old anthracite sofa with a coffee kettle on it for a good time. Also a bar counter with a small fridge. The house is a spacious two bedroom house.
Very comfortable and could sleep nice and warm with the heaters and electric blankets.
Wonderful place to stay overnight. Our "puppies" enjoyed the big garden! (2 English Bulldogs, 1 Yorkshire Terrier, 1 Jack Russel).
Friendly hosts, comfortable beds.
Our hosts received us very kindly and immediately made us feel at home.
Delightful and fascinating house that feels like a home, and very welcoming hosts. Such a refreshing and restful halfway stop between Gauteng and Cape Town.
Thank you very much for an indescribable experience. Bruce and Eduard are phenomenal people and put in so much effort. The house is very nicely and practically furnished. We will visit again soon.
We had a lovely stay in Tuin Huis. We were received kindly, it's spacious and comfortable and we felt right at home.
Tidy. Reasonable price. All the amenities. Wi-Fi. Lock accessories. Good for quick sleepovers. Clean. Hot water.
Lovely historical home. Cosy and homely.
Many interesting items in the historical place! Time stood still.
Thanks for the warm fireplace and coffee!
A nostalgic homecoming for an old soul. Great sleep surrounded by Karoo peace that envelops you! An 1858 treasure with a welcoming open door after a long day's drive. Thank you for sharing what you have with others. Good gearing during load shedding.
Lovely hosts, lovely art, lovely house, lovely garden! All great!
Nice meet and greet. Quiet stay and comfortable.
Antique house with good location and we had a nice stay in our sleepover on our trip.
Cute, historic cottage with all the necessary amenities from a microwave, gas stove in the kitchen as a counter to the cold, duster against the winter cold, electric blanket and portable lights when the power was out. Our personal opinion was that the cottage was completely overloaded with unnecessary ornaments and furniture that appeared dusty. We understand that the streets in Hanover are dirt roads and therefore it is difficult to keep everything dust free. The bedding and towels, in our opinion, were not up to standard to offer for use by guests in a guest destination. The host Bruce was kind, friendly and helpful in quickly organizing a plunger for our coffee.
We received a warm and friendly welcome.
Simple and quaint cottage.
Driving from PTA to the Cape is quite a task and a half! The Garden House was a very good place to stay and fully met all our needs. It was spacious, clean and comfortable.
Very interesting place to stay. Bruce received us warmly. No complaints about anything.
Very interesting place with many unique attractions. After the owners heard about our car problems, they called every now and then to see if everything was still okay and if we were still safe.
I had the best lamb chops of my life at the accommodation, staff were wonderful, such a nice experience.
This guesthouse was clean and I liked the open-plan kitchen and lounge. Good for a family. The location although it's opposite a police station was a bit of a concern as the street was dark and we felt a bit worried.
Quiet environment and slept well. Sorry the TV had no signal reception.
Ideally located for a sleepover between CPT and JHB. Host was friendly and accommodating.
Historic house and institution.
No power - no water. Poor shower facilities. Visual misinterpretation (photos). Collection of outdated furniture.
It did not have a pleasant smell. The carpets are not clean. The shower is terrible and despite the hosts being very pleasant, it is actually a lot older than what I thought.
Place is a museum. We were also requested to let owner's dogs in & out at times. Really?
We were given a warm welcome by the owners of the place. Will definitely go again and recommend it to friends and family.
Safe. Neat, clean, kitchen with fridge and gas stove. Safe and located right opposite the police station. Nostalgic village, adventure trip up the stone steps, Feather's food is delicious and the stars are beautiful at night. Many thanks to Bruce for the use of Tuin Huis.
We travelled with three dogs and were delighted to find a huge garden where the dogs could relax, explore and run off any extra energy. The hosts are fabulous and so accommodating!
Our stay in Tuin Huis was too brief. I could easily have stayed another day or a week. The bed is comfortable, the house is well-equipped, and full of books, and is a wonderful step back in time. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful.
We were made to feel very welcome and that whatever our needs were, would be met.
Very pleasant, felt safe and the hosts were lovely.
We had a great time. The owners were very friendly. Thank you.
There was a mistake in our booking. The owner was incredible in assisting us to clear it out.
It is situated within walking distance of the shops etc. A very clean town and a very nice house. I will go there again definitely.
Very nice place, anytime again.
We were travelling with our 3 cats and they were allowed to roam the house unrestricted. We had a peaceful evening and enjoyed our stay. Hanover is off the N1, so easy to find. We would definitely stay over in Hanover again if we were to pass there on our travels.
They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place. Slept lovely - thank you for everything.
Although only staying overnight, it was a pleasant experience to just relax and rest for the next part of our trip to Gordons Bay.
It's a great option for a stop over between Cape Town and Johannesburg. Very quaint place, almost like spending a night in a museum.
Perfect place for self - catering family stay. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and we had a great stay.
Old, beautiful, historic house with many antiques that make you long back to our childhood. "Ghostly" plank floors and wooden ceiling with a possible cellar under the living room carpet make for an exciting stay. The police office is directly opposite the house, which makes you feel a little safer than usual. My family and I would stay there again anytime.
My sister and I and my dog, Barnes, had a lovely stay here, we even picked organic vegetables from the garden and cooked it in the well stocked kitchen. This establishment had been kept as a previous home with almost everything in tact, a home in a by gone era time capsule. Our hosts were kind and helpful, recommended stay.
Didn't even have enough time there to appreciate all the "memorabilia" in the heritage house.
Beautiful historic home with timeless furnishings. We arrived late after a long day on the road. Bruce welcomed us kindly. The heater and electric blanket were already on.
Our stay at the Tuin huis was wonderful. We traveled with 2 of our dogs and everything went well. The Tuin Huis has a museum-like feeling and it almost feels like you traveled back in time. The small town also adds to the atmosphere. There are restaurants that are open on certain days of the week so you can order takeaway on those days. The bedrooms are comfortable and have heaters for the colder climate. The kitchen is well equipped to cook in. There are 2x living rooms to spend time in. There is a wonderful garden for dogs and kids to play in. This is indeed a lovely house to spend time in.
Quaint old home filled with nostalgia. We were met with much more than we had expected, especially considering the price point.
Tuin Huis was our choice for a overnight stay en route to Montagu. It was very cold and rainy and difficult to warm the old, eclectic house. However, the owners were kind enough to have electric blankets on the beds. Shower was hot and the house was clean.
See stars.
Hosts Bruce and Eduard made an effort to make us feel at ease. Interesting house dating back to the 1800s.
Slept warm Shower was deliciously hot. All necessities were there. Maybe more suitable for smokers.
Just a recommendation: Tuinhuis is a beautiful old building with enormous potential. The owner can think about perhaps getting a professional interior decorator to help with decluttering etc. But we got friendly service and slept well. Thank you very much.
It is a very old building (dates 1858) inside it looks more like a museum. The house because it is so old and full has a dusty musty smell. The bed in the room is fantastic, slept very well. Overall we had a nice overnight stay. A very interesting place.
Cannot comment any further as we arrived early evening and left early the following morning.
The sleepover is ok, but not really a place for teenagers.
Place a bit neglected.
Premises were very dirty and smelled bad. No effort was made to clean accommodation. Would very definitely not stay there again or recommend.
Interesting house with very informative hosts.
