Such a lovely cabin with stunning views, with Springbok and Zebra grazing in the veld in front of the cabin. A lot of bird activity. Felt like home. Loved every minute here and will visit again in the future.
Fantastic break away. Perfect location. Stunning views. Wildlife and a babbling brook. Highly recommended.
Wonderful stay in a beautifully equipped cabin with unexpected luxury touches. The rusks, cordial, and jam left as gifts were completely unexpected and a welcome treat. The view from the cabin was gorgeous. Being able to watch the springbok frolicking and the zebras was a great treat.
The cabin is great. We arrived to a neat, well-organised place and settled in quickly. The views of the small river and the animals are just the best. The cabin is well-equipped with all kinds of things we needed. Awesome stay. We will go back.
We loved our stay! It's a gem! The peace and quietness was good for the soul. Watching the zebras and springboks from the deck was amazing. The cabin had everything you need and more. Thank you. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely stunning cabin. We loved the peace and tranquility of the area. Views of the mountains, springboks and zebras. Definitely a place everyone should visit and spend a few days. Loved the decor in the cabin with everything that you need to make your stay memorable.
Very nice place on the banks of the Boontjies River. Well equipped. Could perhaps sort kitchen equipment better. All of the same amounts. Roomdevider will work well above the bathroom and bed, especially with friends.
Although the cottage is well equipped, I just think it should be made clear that the TV can only be used for streaming if you have a laptop with you. Although I prefer no TV in the wild, I was told at the time of booking that the cottage has a TV! It must also be clearly indicated that the swimming pool is a kilometer from the cottage and can only be reached by car. During our visit to the pool we had to share it with around 50 school children. I also just want to say that the stairs that have to be used to reach the master bedroom can be a challenge for any person, regardless of age. So we chose to sleep in the lower room with two single beds. We really enjoyed the wildlife.
Our stay was amazing! The cabin was equipped with everything that we needed, and the view and ambience were tranquil and peaceful, exactly what was needed. We would love to enjoy this experience again in the future. Thank you to Deon and Eli.
Terribly amazing place with so much attention to detail! We will definitely go again!
We had a lovely stay, and enjoyed the surroundings and cabin! The weather wasn't the best but we made the most of it. Loved the cabin and all the outdoors if the weather had been better, we could have used it. The only thing to do better is the door of the downstairs bedroom, which needs to be fixed as it is hard to open, and thus makes a lot of noise! Kind greetings
Very nice house, als is super comfortable.
Amazing views, a little slice of heaven. We loved everything about the place.
Beautiful log cabin with amazing views! An inverter makes you independent from Eskom. The house has everything you could need for self-catering, and even with bad weather we had a very romantic stay with a burning fire and lots of different views of the mountains. There are zebras, springbucks, mongoose and a lot of birds to entertain you! We enjoyed our stay throughout even if the new house is built quite near and our neighbours didn't like the silence.
It was wonderful.
Peaceful, lovely touches like the hanging chairs and outdoor bath, beautiful scenery. Efficient communication. So nice and clean. I didn't quite realise that the main bedroom is open/loft, so it's not really suitable for 2 couples if you want privacy from the lounge area. But that is probably because I didn't look at the description and photos properly! We will definitely be back.
Deon contacted us via whatsapp before arrival. Although he was not present himself, he quickly responded to whatsapp inquiries. However, we had to braai at a separate braai area, possibly due to the risk of fire.
The cabin is so well equipped. Clean, very neat. Very homely.
We had a beautiful experience with zebra's & springboks walking around while you standing on the balcony, so memorable. The Cabin is definitely a place I would love to be at again, was sad when we had to leave. It had everything you need and want it in. Hosts are super kind, Deon, Eli & Karin. Appreciate it all. Thank you for having me and my Husband for our honeymoon. It truly made us feel like Newlyweds.
An absolute gem of a place and the managing agent is available for any queries. My only criticism is that the website shows complete isolation but you are surrounded by other cabins. There is also a venue down the road that hosts school camps so it isn't complete silence either. But if these 2 things aren't an issue book here, it's a gem of a spot.
This is a very cute house with excellent amenities and the porch sitting was our highlight! We also had fun walking and swimming!
My two sisters and I had a relaxing weekend in this wonderful cottage - the house really is even better than the pictures! Neat with all the facilities you need, beautiful walking routes and a nice view. Here you can switch off properly.
The closest one can get to Paradise on earth. Mountain Cabin, located within the Witzenberg Nature Reserve, is a stone's throw from Wolseley and Tulbagh. A well-appointed hot cabin with all the essentials to be able to relax carefree and catch up. With unlimited views of the Witzenberge, the soothing sound of the babbling brook, the peacocks calling in the distance, a hawk soaring on the air currents, ebras, springboks, red hearted cattle, swallows that come to visit on the porch rail, the sounds of a wide variety of birds, and an owl at night wishing you a good night's rest. What more do you want? Break away and come and catch yourself. Hang out on the stoep, or make a fire in the braai lapa. When the sun goes down, the darkness envelops you and the night sounds take you away to another world.
The cabin is well-maintained with a touch of modern and luxury elements to combine the earthy feeling with trendiness. We liked the options of various seating and eating spots in and around the cabin. The spoils with rusks and a bottle of organic wine made us feel welcome. A visit from the herd of springboks added to the special feeling of being close to nature. All in all, an A-plus weekend with various check-ins (calls and WhatsApps) from the hosts. Well done!
Our group of four spent two lovely days in the cottage. The cottage is equipped with everything needed to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We were welcomed with a bottle of alcohol-free sparkling wine and delicious biscuits. In advance we received full information regarding road directions, key details and alarm system. The cottage's veranda extends over all three sides from where you can enjoy the scenery, springboks and zebras. Just next to the cottage is a large barbecue area with a table and seating where we mostly farmed and admired the mountains. There are plenty of hiking trails, and also a swimming pool to cool off in. Deon offered us an extra night for free which unfortunately we couldn't take advantage of due to commitments at home that we couldn't postpone. If you are looking for a clean and tidy place with friendly service in nature where you can relax in silence, look no further. We will definitely visit there again.
Weekend was off the books. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place to relax and just recharge your batteries. Biggest bonus is that you can take your canine children with you. We went for lovely walks with them during the day and in the evening they enjoyed lying in front of the fireplace. We will definitely go again next year.
We had such a wonderful stay at Tulbagh Mountain Cabin. The cabin is beautifully equipped with everything you might need and includes some thoughtful extras like binoculars and walking sticks. Views are spectacular, lovely walks in the area, game viewing (buck and zebra) from your balcony. Our two young sons had a brilliant time exploring the area, so much so that they didn't watch the TV at all! It really was a wonderfully relaxing weekend. Hosts Deon and Karen responded immediately to any queries we had, nothing was too much trouble. We left our hiking stick at the cabin when we left and Karen arranged for it to be brought back to Cape Town for us, really going the extra mile.
The cabin is beautifully decorated and well-equipped. It had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The managers and other staff (Nellie) were very helpful ensuring that we enjoyed our time at the cabin.
Very comfortable accommodation with extra little treats on arrival. Great braai area. With the gas heater, air conditioning and fireplace there was no chance of getting cold and the beds slept wonderfully warm. The children enjoyed walking around in the field among zebras and goats.
We surprised my father-in-law for his 80th birthday at Mountain Cabin and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is beautifully clean, tidy and perfectly located with the most beautiful views of the mountains and animals. We were also surprised with the nice bottle of wine that greeted us upon our arrival. We will definitely book again, maybe in the dead of winter!
The cabin is very nice and tidy and well furnished for a comfortable stay. Especially the kitchen is well equipped. It was lovely to watch the goats and zebras from the large deck. Also really appreciated the bottle of grape juice.
Easy to locate and access. Well thought-through amenities, shaded parking for one vehicle and good quality bedding.
Our four friends shared the costs and we really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. If someone wants to get away to silence, relaxation with own facilities, this is the place where you can relax and enjoy.
Good location. Beautiful views.
Definitely value for money, added, money should not even be an option because the beauty and tranquility cannot be bought. Words cannot describe it. Do yourself a favor and just go. It's a great place, away from the city life and a good break. Beautiful view to the wild animals/mountains. The place itself is well equipped, very neat and clean. Customer service is also very good. Thanks to Nellie and Deon's helpfulness and hospitality. 10/10.
We had an amazing time in the Cabin. Clean and tidy with beautiful views. White, crisp linen. Deon was an amazing host and made our stay special.
Mountain cabin is a fantastic choice to break away for rest. The house is comfortable, tidy and has beautiful views of the landscape, a few zebras and goats and feels alive. The main bedroom is very nice. Very nice barbecue place. Few hiking trails to better explore the area. Would definitely recommend it.
The cabin is truly a beautiful place to stay. It is so quiet and serene. I loved that there were a pair of monocular to watch the springbok, zebras, etc. Very clean and well maintained. We took our little doggy with and she enjoyed the nature tremendously. We will definitely come back to the cabin.
We enjoyed the tranquillity that the cabin offered and the wild animals grazing in full view, was such a treat. It is a well appointed cabin with everything you need for a break from the city. Thank you Deon for sharing this piece of heaven with us, we enjoyed our stay very much.
What lovely, crisp, clean linen! Views for days and the little creek at the bottom is just so relaxing. Take your trail shoes and go for a run/walk. Plenty to do in the Witzenberg Valley. We will definitely be back.
Mountain Cabin is in a breathtaking setting and very well located. The cabin is extremely tastefully furnished and very clean and tidy.
Had a great time. Nellie the cleaner was there to receive us. She's beautiful. House perfect. Won't go 5 people. The fifth bed is with very stylish stairs up and onto the loft. It's small and won't work for older people or people with a fear of heights or fear of narrow spaces. We didn't get our welcome letter and although the directions on the website are good, I would recommend that it be mentioned that there is a gate you have to go through to get to the park where the cabin is one of many cottages is. Then you call a mobile phone number and the gate opens automatically. We struggled to get in for a while. But Deon and Karen were very helpful and after many calls we are in. And had a great time.
Mountain Cabin is in a game reserve, beautiful views. Cabin is gorgeous with everything you need and very comfortable. We did loads of mountain biking and running which was perfect. Loved the fact that we could take our doggie as he is such an integral part of our family. Highly recommend a holiday there if you want to escape the city life!
Dream wooden house, unparalleled beauty, and unforgettable starry sky.
Mountain Cabin is a beautiful place in an incredible area. At times, we felt like Heidi and Peter in Switzerland with a bonus of zebra and springbok grazing in front of the cabin. Everything was wonderfully clean and comfortable. The electric blankets were a big treat in the cold.
Very cute house with everything you need. The house is equipped with only the best, especially the kitchen. The goats grazing in front of the house were breathtaking. Something city folk can squint at for hours. The place was advertised as a farm getaway. I had the wrong impression, thinking it would just be us in the open and that we could go for a nice walk with the dogs. The house is in a reserve, with other people too, so I missed the freedom of running loose with the dogs. There is also a recreation room, and there was a lot of noise every day and all Sunday too. Nevertheless, it was very nice, we really enjoyed it.
Beautiful place, enjoyed the sound of the water in the river each night.
What a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Just to sit on the deck, and view the nature and mountains and hear the stream and then be surprised in the late afternoon with springbok grazing is definitely recommended to get away from the daily stress. Even our dog children enjoyed the field trips.
We had such a pleasant stay, the cabin is beautiful with everything you need, but the biggest surprise was all the unexpected wildlife around the cabin! Perfect getaway to just rest and enjoy nature! We will definitely be back again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your most comfortable Mountain Cabin. The lovely view with zebra and springbok grazing in front if us and retiring at night with the sound of the gushing stream in our ears was absolutely delightful. Deon, thank you for sharing this special place with us.
Great weekend with friends in the beautiful nature just outside Tulbagh. The cabin is very neat and well equipped with a beautiful view. Nice to go for a walk in the area. Internet available on the television. Well appointed for winter or summer getaway. Will definitely go back again!
Had a nice stay. Convenient with more or less everything you need. Beautiful view, very peaceful and private. The shower is outside, not really suitable for winter. The braai is not ideal and a heater would have been nice.
If you are looking for a log cabin in the woods, this is the place to be. The peaceful atmosphere is just what one needs to enjoy a weekend away. The house is very neat and has everything you need. Deon was also very friendly and always available to contact. This is definitely a place to suggest to others.
We had a lovely weekend! The scenery is exceptionally beautiful. Deon is very helpful, you could ask him anything and he'd help. We will definitely visit again!
Exactly what we were looking for on our way from busy Gauteng to our Yzerfontein holiday destination. Deon was available by phone with good advice and directions when needed.
