We found a number of spiderwebs in the room and at the bar. The bed size was advertised as a king, it was only a double or queen. There was no TV in the room as advertised.
We were disappointed. The accommodation at Tzamenkomst River Lodge has definitely deteriorated since our last visit in 2021. Owners will need to pay attention to maintenance of room and gardens.

Tzamenkomst was the ultimate stop over on route to the Western Cape. Tranquil, beautiful surroundings next to the Orange River lets you switch off and unwind immediately. Jean-Mari was an incredible host and the whole team left us feeling very welcome! Restaurant on site served a delicious meal and the whole experience wants us to go back for an extended stay when we pass by again! A must visit!

We had a lovely overnight on the way to Wilderness. We were kindly welcomed by the hostess, who took us to our room. The rooms are neat and clean and you can hear and see the river all the time. We also enjoyed a cocktail at the cash bar. Would recommend to anyone.

Just strange that we couldn't find Tzamenkomst River Lodge on our GPS. The only Tzamenkomst lies in a completely different direction.
You're against the Orange River. The restaurant has a nice bar where you can enjoy a drink while sitting/laying on soft leather sofas in the lapa and looking over the river. There is a cold water pool, a small gym and a deck to sit on and all look out over the river in front of you. The food was delicious cooking. The beds were softer and more cuddly than my house with an aircon to regulate the temperature. Yes, the price was not very cheap for an overnight stay, but there's a reason for that. You get what you pay for. Would recommend it for sure. Will book the place again for sure. Thanks to the friendly hostess who showed us everything. Thanks for the take-away breakfast, it was the icing on the cake, especially if you want an early start on the road. Can't wait to sleep over there again.

As a young family, we really enjoyed our stay at Tzamenkomst River Lodge. We had a very warm welcome by Christie and Teri, our rooms were fully equipped for the winter season and were so tastefully decorated and stocked for a comfortable and easy stay. We enjoyed a delicious warm breakfast next to a cozy fireplace. We were constantly greeted by such friendly ground and assisting staff. A definite must for all families passing through the Colesberg area. Thanks again to the team at LekkeSlaap and Tzamenkomst River Lodge for helping us create an adventure out of our long trip to Cape Town.
Although it was just a short stopover to break up my drive between the Cape and Johannesburg, it's a very peaceful, neat and welcoming spot for a comfortable night's rest.
The location is so beautiful and just off the main road - the dirt road to the lodge is good. There was a small fire that kept the whole dining area nice and warm - and there was a nice plate of food waiting for me. The room was well furnished and it's lovely. The view the next morning was beautiful and I enjoyed sitting on the veranda with a cup of coffee. The hostess goes out of her way and I will definitely be back again.

Our boy was able to run around on the lawn, jump into the infinity pool and he had a nice rubber-duck experience with Luke on the river. Thank you very much for the nice breakfast. I have been everywhere. And we travel through Gariep/Colesberg frequently. This place was excellent. Beautifully situated on the river banks, listening to the tranquil sound of water flowing in the background, it truly was an fantastic experience. My 2 year old enjoyed running on the well maintained open gras and the pool overlooking the river is such a relaxing view. You feel your on holiday already! Definitely well worth every penny to have some much needed rest for the road ahead. The hostess was so friendly and truly cares about the clients staying over. We felt so welcome. And our every need was satisfied. I enjoyed it so much that I took the time to write this review, because people who put in the time and effort to put their guests first and provide fantastic service, deserve it! Thank you so much.

The unit was very well equipped and clean. The farm is absolutely beautiful - we enjoyed the delicious breakfast looking out over the river and green gardens. The gravel road in is very well maintained and the directions was very clear. A short and rested overnight stay.
This was supposed to be the perfect end of a relaxing holiday in the Southern Cape, we were all very excited when entering the lodge grounds to see all the animals and the beautiful views. Our enthusiasm soon waned however when we arrived at the lodge to find that the main lodge was not what we expected, based on the 5 star reviews that we read. My wife and my room, number 1, had a beautiful view of the river, our family members however in room number 2 had no view (of anything of note), and their room was very basic. At around 20:30, when trying to shower in room number 2, it was realised that there was no hot water, we phoned, and were told that work had been done on the water line during the day and someone had obviously left some valve closed. Surely following repairs been done the system should be checked! Fortunately room number 3 was vacant and we were told that the shower in this room could be used. Why weren't our family members assigned this room in the first place, knowing that work had been done on the water line, obviously there had been an existing problem. We had booked for supper at the lodge, only to find that it was a set menu, which only included lamb shank, no other alternative choice for non red meat eaters, which is the case with my wife. We were told that it stated clearly on the web site that only lamb shank would be served, no other alternative, I have however checked and can find no such mention. When waking up we were informed by our family members that the electricity had gone off at 22:00, and that their toilet kept running water all night. In the morning around 05:45, we were boiling the ern in the lodges main lounge for hot water for coffee when all of a sudden the power went off again. Why no emergency power supply at a 5 star rated establishment? We decided there and then that's it we off, we could get breakfast somewhere else. Apparently according to the one lady at the lodge Eskom load shedding, stage 2, was the cause for the power outages in this remote area! So our expectations of this facility were unfortunately shattered, won't be seeing us again, thats for sure.
Good friendly reception. Clean room with small kitchen with kettle, small fridge and microwave oven. Coffee and tea in nice glass containers, unfortunately not marked with what type of coffee and tea is in the container. Peaceful atmosphere on the green lawn at the garden table and chairs or lounge chairs next to the pool. Only pillows are missing. Self help to coffee, tea station and soft drinks. Dinner disappointing especially for price asked for it. Minced meat, boiled green beans, fine pumpkin and lots of rice. Nice view guest house.
Do your homework first before booking here. Other surrounding destinations provide much more value for your rand. There are no TVs in the rooms. At R1900 per night it really isn't worth it.
Incredibly beautiful oasis, between nothing and nowhere. A lovely view of the Orange River and hills, very well equipped, luxurious and tasteful decor. Stone's throw from the N1, just outside Colesberg and easily accessible by any vehicle. Breakfast fit for a king, and will definitely spend more than just one night there in the future. Very private and extremely professional hostess and owners.
For me personally as an avid gardener the only down point was the neglected gardens. It must have been spectacular once upon a time under a loving hand. Now it's just managed.
The rooms have air conditioning which was absolute plus point. The rooms and linen are clean and tidy. The food we ate at the guest house was like peasant food from your mother's kitchen - deliciously prepared and fresh.
On the banks of the great river, in other words, there is a lot of water. Gary Player previously owned the place. Beautifully beautiful. Would like to stay there again.

Accommodation is provided in 11 separate en-suite rooms.
The rooms all have air-conditioning, electric blankets, a bar fridge, a microwave and a coffee station. The cottage offers views of the garden and the river and is accessed from the walkway leading from the pergola-covered parking area to the lodge.
The 3 family units are at the stables and have a beautiful garden view.

The Orange River provides plenty of fish for the fisherman and offers a challenge for those who enjoy good exercise on the kayak.
Guests can enjoy birdwatching and game drives on the farm. There is an array of beautiful bird species. Game varies from the exotic Roan antelope to the traditional springbuck, and of course the giraffe being the most inquisitive of all.
