This elegantly decorated cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway or a weekend spent with friends. The cottage comprises 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Both bedrooms are furnished with double beds offering cosy quality bedding. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, a basin, and a toilet.
The open-plan living area offers a lounge area and a modern kitchen that is fully equipped to cook up a storm, with facilities such as a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a gas stove with an oven, as well as built-in cupboards with crockery and cutlery, including other appliances and a table with seating.

Comfortable and very well appointed.
It is a perfect getaway. We had a really good time, especially on the stoep by the braai place. The view over the farm is incredibly beautiful and there is a very peaceful feeling in the air. The house is very well equipped to stay and visit very comfortably.
Wonderful place! Quiet, peaceful, beautiful and "serene". You immediately feel at home with all the little treats you find in the cupboards and on the table. Definitely recommend, we would love to go back. The silence when you sleep and wake up in the morning is wonderful!

Our family loves the Elgin area for a weekend away. The Uilhuijs is well located to easily visit attractions in the area, but is also idyllic enough to just relax and be all weekend! The place is well equipped with everything you need, the decor is beautiful and the view from the stoep at the braai area takes the cake! They are friendly and helpful
Our visit was well organized from booking to handing over the keys. The visit was the most enjoyable we have experienced in a long time. The view and orchards are so beautiful, can sit all day and just look. There was 'Eskom loadshedding', but we didn't even notice. Everything you need and more is there! Can really recommend it, next time I'll book for at least a week and definitely take the mountain bikes with me. We were 4 big people and were not in each other's way. Just had a great time! See you again soon.

Uilhuijs is a true hidden gem and has everything you could possibly need for a getaway. The unit is kitted with really nice finishes and utensils! Such great value for money and a 10 out of 10 from me The cherry on the cake would be a wood fired hot tub on the deck overlooking the beautiful views.

This farm stay, 2-bedroom cottage is exceptionally well equipped. Hostess Leanne has provided many thoughtful amenities, and the kitchen is well equipped for summer or winter stays. The cottage is up a private road on a working apple farm, and nestled amongst mature pine trees, with lovely views across the Elgin Valley. A deep undercover patio with couches and dining table for summer evenings or indoor dining and wood stove for chilly winter nights. Close to wine farms, the Elgin Railway Market, this is a must stay retreat.
Uilhuijs is outstanding in all aspects. It is not only fully equipped, everything is of high quality. The place is immaculately clean and we were even given a large bag of wood to use. Load power also occurs here, but this was also taken care of and we had lights all the time. That gas stove is a winner! The communication from Leanne was also excellent and we felt welcome from the first moment. And we enjoyed the large porch with the beautiful view from early morning until evening. We recommend Uilhuijs unconditionally.
We appreciated the fantastic views and the silence. The house is very tastefully decorated and all the fittings, crockery and linen are of high quality. It's perfectly located to explore the area, or to have a great rest.

We had the most fabulous stay. Hosts were incredibly hospitable and accommodating, the house itself is beautiful and very well-equipped. The environment is quiet and relaxing. There's bad cell phone reception and the wifi is a bit weak - but certainly not a problem and does not take away from a perfect stay. We'll be back.

We loved our stay at Uilhuijs and visiting some of the surrounding wine farms. The accommodation is very comfortable and has everything you could need during your stay. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
Everything was perfect! We really enjoyed our walks around the apple farm and in the evening the fireplace made everything very cosy for a winter break. We will definitely be back!
Uilhuijs was exactly what we needed to rest. It's located in a beautiful corner of an apple farm with exceptional views, the singing of birds and the soft whistling of wind in the trees. The lovely, large veranda was well used and the wooden stove inside was used every evening. Thanks for the piles of wood that were provided. There were also treats such as cookies, biscuits, fruit and milk left for us. There is everything one could need in terms of crockery/cooking facilities and the rooms are very cozy with panel heaters (optional) and lovely bedding. We were received kindly and communication was good. Uilhuijs is definitely on my short list and we will want to visit again and take friends with us to experience it.

The view was absolutely beautiful and the flat was well equipped.
We had a wonderful weekend at Uilhuijs. The cottage is beautifully appointed with soft furnishings of the highest quality. The bottomless pile of wood was very welcome as the weekend was very chilly. A visit to Charles Fox is a must, as well as a trip to the Elgin Market. Rick and Leanne are quick to respond to questions and are very accommodating. We will definitely visit again in the summer!
Cottage was smaller than it looks on the pictures. Definitely not a place for two adult couples. We were falling over each other. The shower is tiny, no bath and the hot water in the shower didn't work, it was a hit-and-miss affair to get it to work. The cottage is totally off the grid, no cellphone reception, which may be okay for some, but wasn't for us, we needed to continue to work even though I was away riding mountain bikes. While there is wifi, it was very slow and unavailable during loadshedding as there is no generator for the cottage. Owner should state clearly that there is no cellphone reception and no generator so, in the case of LS, you will be uncontactable for 2 hours.
Thank you for the biscuits, Easter eggs, bottle of wine and fresh flowers on arrival, what a nice cremation! Firewood was also provided free of charge.

The cottage is located in a secluded portion of the farm, providing privacy while one still gets the wonderful sight of the trees blossoming. The hosts are lovely. Both of them went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Cannot recommend it enough!
Rick and Leanne's hospitality extends beyond the wine treat, brownies and full fruit bowls. The whole atmosphere in Uilhuijs speaks of a hostess who has thought of everything. The house is tasteful and fully equipped. One never gets tired of the view and the apple orchards are an experience.

I booked the Uilhuijs for my wedding in Elgin on 20 March 2021. It was a really fantastic place to stay and is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. It is very private and the decor is even more beautiful in real life than in the photos. Leanne was an excellent hostess and was very accommodating. We felt very welcome! I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Elgin!
We had a lovely peaceful holiday at Uilhuijs. We were pretty much spoiled upon our arrival. Wish we could lie on the grass every morning and watch the clouds, the eagles in the sky, the beautiful nature. The deck and braai area overlooking the most beautiful view was definitely a highlight. We went for a lovely walk. The house is very well equipped. We lacked nothing. Uilhuijs is definitely saved among our favorites.
We immediately felt at home after the owners' friendly welcome and were pleasantly surprised with the quality furniture, linen and equipment. The delicious treats on the table were a bonus!

The Uilhuijs are really perfect for any season. We had one fine weather day where we could relax on the stoep (with a view of the valley). The next day it rained all the time again, but we were then able to sit inside in front of the fireplace and visit. The accommodation is extremely stylishly furnished and well equipped. Rick and Leanne were the epitome of hospitality and immediately made us feel welcome. Uilhuijs will definitely see you again soon!

What a fantastic place to get away from the city. The location is breathtaking. The house is fully equipped and the finish and decor are 5-star. There are beautiful walking trails to walk, or you can just sit on the porch and enjoy the incredible view of Elgin. The people welcomed us so warmly, we can't wait to visit the Uilhuijs again!

This house in an apple orchard looks like it was cut out of a Home magazine. Beautiful, comfortable and durable furniture and decor, with a fantastic view of apple and pear farms and ponds. Very friendly hostess who thought of everything - down to small blankets when it gets a little cooler when you sit outside. Personal detail makes one feel welcome immediately. Great big oven. The fireplace works fantastically and makes the house cozily warm. One can stay here for a week and rest with a reading book, or one can explore the surroundings and go in search of adventure (mountain biking, canopy tours, wine tasting). I can definitely recommend Uilhuijs!
Lauren and Rick were very hospitable and always willing to help. The cottage is stylish and well furnished. The patio is fantastic with a cozy barbecue area and a beautiful view.
Friendly people, got a flat tire on the way there, and owner simply took the tire to town at his own expense and had it repaired.
The Uilhuijs was an all-around great experience. There is amazing attention to detail given to all aspects of the stay. Enough of everything is available in the unit from blankets, towels, and even a CD in the CD player for music, making our stay as pleasant as possible. From the friendliness on reception and a lovely bottle of wine and treats. Exceptional.

Uilhuijs is a special getaway in the heart of the Elgin valley. The incredible detail in every room makes the stay extra special. You can really just pack your clothes and go to catch your breath, go to rest, go to re-occupy. And after a year like 2020, you can definitely find hope here again. We will definitely see this special place again and again and again. Thank you for every bit of detail from the rusks, fresh apples and pears, fresh bunch of flowers and everything else. You guys definitely spoiled us.

The cottage is located on top of a hill with wonderful views overlooking the farm areas, orchards and dams. There were lots of unexpected treats which our hosts provided like fresh fruit, rusks, wine, beautiful flowers, and added extras in our fridge. How very thoughtful and generous! The Uilhuijs is beautifully situated between the apple orchards with the most beautiful view over the valley and dam. The house itself is furnished with so much care and taste. The linen is of the highest quality and everything you need is there. But that porch!! This is where you want to start and end your days. What a privilege it was to be able to spend wonderful days there with my loved ones. Leanne and Rick are the best host and wife we have met in a long time. Communication was prompt and clear from the start. Can't wait to visit here again. Treat yourself to a few days at the Uilhuijs and look out for the squirrels and owls! Was a feast for the soul.

A beautiful cottage in an exquisite setting. The cottage is beautifully decorated and every detail has been carefully thought out. from the Nespresso machine for coffee, to the complimentary bottles of wine, every little thing is catered for. Thank you Leanne for a memorable stay.
A last minute breakaway which we had only a couple days to plan turned into a magical stay in the most peaceful and stunning cottage, the cottage is decorated beautifully inside and out with everything you will need and the resident owl family was so friendly showing off their new addition to us in the trees next to the cottage. The gorgeous predator birds are always soaring in the skies above you, the tiny finches singing beautiful songs and even the guinea fowls with their load calls just before the sun sets is any nature lovers ideal outdoor spot to sit back, switch off from technology and just soak up all this beautiful valley has to offer. We would go back again anytime, thank you to the owners for being so welcoming!
