We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The silence and break from electronic screens was refreshing. I particularly appreciated the bird life. The wind was a bit of a bother throughout the day, but that's unique to the Karoo! The starry sky at night was special. We were warmly welcomed and instructions were sufficient to facilitate our stay. I would recommend Uitkomst for a real break from the hustle and bustle of the city, or just for a peaceful stopover on your way to another destination.
Very quiet and tidy.
A lovely well-equipped cottage in a gorgeous spot. The host permitted our dog to join us and kindly escorted us to the house. Would have loved to stay longer!

Very nice place. There is no electricity, so plan accordingly. Host may start heating water (lighting donkey) before guests arrive.
Very nice. Everything needed is there. If you are looking for silence, this is just the place for you. Would not recommend car with small wheels. Dirt road is nice, but your car should not be too low. Just note, no power and cell phone signal.
The best place if you know farm life. To rehabilitate the brain for a few days before and after a holiday.

Paraffin lamp, donkey for hot water and a delicious fire for barbecuing meat. We Free Staters haven't had such a peaceful time at a place like Uitkomst for a long time. Philippie immediately made us feel at home with his sparkling personality. Thank you very much, I recommend the place with the greatest pleasure and will definitely rest there again.
Quietest place, everything great and nice hot water from the donkey!
After a long, hot drive it was fantastic to find a small farmhouse with everything you need. The donkey hot water system provided hot water. The silence and the clear starry sky were unique to the Karoo. One evening is too short to experience the farm experience. Thank you Elzane for your warm welcome. We will stay again.
Beautiful, peaceful, nice barbecue fire with enough wood, lovely warm bed, enough hot water, everything you need after a long day on the road.
The most delightful little cottage off the grid. Very simple and basic, paraffin lights and a donkey for hot water which was so nostalgic. No internet and just peace and quiet which was a wonderful way to spend the last night of our road trip. Wonderful helpful host.

Not for the city lad, respectfully said, no electricity or mobile phone network, clean and tidy, come meet the Retiefs, salt of the earth people, Phillipe and Luzane. Parrafin lamps, gas for your stove and fridge, donkey for hot water. Thank you guys, never take the magic away.
The most unexpected location, unrivaled peace and quiet and probably the best experience we have ever had for a one night stay over. Our little Kia Rio handled the dirt road without drama to reveal our home in the Karoo blanketed with stars. I would not change anything. Only gas services were available for fridge and cooking with paraffin lamps, we used our portable lights. Hot water from the Donga was awesome. Highly recommended.
Beautiful clean and tidy facilities. Great to get away from it all because there is no cell phone signal or electricity. The cottage has everything you need.
