It was very nice!
We went camping on New Year's Eve, and we were the only ones at the camp site. Although the campsite is open (no fence around), we felt safe. There were no incidents. The campsite is 1km away from the town of McGregor. The owner was kind and accommodating.
Very hospitable, genuine farm atmosphere.
Very cute cottage with everything you need. The fact that you can choose to grill outside or inside is a bonus. A coat of paint outside will make a big difference.

Very basic but comfortable, can see it was an old building for worker accommodation. Everything one person would need during their stay.
Very peaceful and tranquil. Our hosts were respectful of our privacy and were very friendly. We enjoyed walking around the farm and exploring nearby McGregor. The cottage was clean and we were spared the effects of load shedding!
Stay was quiet and safe. Unfortunately there was no hot water. For the amount you have to pay, I would expect hot water for a shower. All in all, rates are a bit steep.
A reminder of our youth when we both had access to family with farms where we could stay and explore.
We had a very nice time in the cottage. The people were extremely friendly and helpful. The aunt even gave us fresh farm vegetables. We had a lovely walk on the farm. The cottage is located near the people's house, and their dogs sometimes bothered us a bit late at night and early in the morning, but overall it was a very pleasant experience.
We had a nice stay. The calm and peaceful nature environment is exactly what we wanted.

Simple but really nice cottage located on a farm near McGregor. If you want to get in touch with nature and enjoy peace and quietness, then this is the right place.
The perfect place to stop. Nothing frills. The simplicity forces you to rediscover the basics and just rest and enjoy the silence around you. Nice for walking or cycling and close enough to explore the village. Here you realize how little you really need and how refreshing it is!
Pleasant, basic site - good value for money.
For only R300 per person, and R550 for two, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. This tiny converted labourers' cottage really does have everything you would need for a short stay. The shower was hot, the bed was comfortable, and the tiny kitchen-cum-living area was adequately stocked. There is a green shady, spacious outside area, a lovely view and hillside walks. There are no 'extras', like Wi-Fi or TV, which suited me fine, but I noticed that there is an electric blanket and the linen is good. And in winter you could light a fire on the old cooking hearth. The peace and quiet are exceptional. I will be back.
If you are looking for a simple uncomplicated cottage, with a fireplace in the kitchen, and a beautiful outlook on a farm in McGregor, removed from hustle and bustle of town, this is the place for you.
Misleading photos. Cement floors, no tiles. No cupboards for clothes and food. No TV, no radio, no WiFi. No place for toiletries in bathroom. Have to live out of suitcase. Unacceptable.
Tranquility, peace, friendly people, beautiful landscape, romantic are just a few words that describe this place. Tydje was wonderful to be able to end the year in such a wonderful place. Was able to reflect wonderfully on the wonderful year behind us, our relationship with God and with each other. Unbelievable to look up at the stars late at night and look deep into my beloved wife's eyes again to discover a few more little stars. Will definitely come here again to breathe in the beautiful place with the most beautiful person in the universe.
A clean bed and hot shower is what we needed plus a nice open view of the farmland. A comfortable stay and the second time we have been here and will come again.
My husband and I and 3-month-old baby visited Uitvlugt. The place is small and perfectly set up to enjoy a weekend. The simplicity is what makes the place. It forces you to do nothing complicated and rest. We had a nice walk around the farm and climbed up the hill. My husband had a great time fishing. The animals on the farm are very cute and there is a great variety. In the evenings we made a nice fire and hung out.
Good value for money, just what we needed. It might be a little dated but spotlessly clean.
If you want to get away from the city noise this is definitely the right place. The cottage has what one needs to get by.

The unit is well kitted out in terms of blankets and crockery and cutlery. Lovely fireplace in kitchen, and many bird species around.
Had everything you needed a wide open view over the vineyard, comfortable beds clean even a bag of firewood!

Only one small pot. The bathroom floor is way too slippery - almost fell off. No interaction whatsoever with host during 4 days stay, no interest in guests. No TV. Very large spiders. No code given - if there was WiFi?
We wanted to camp but were lucky to be helped by our hostess with a little house because it was bitterly cold and wet. No effort was too much. Thank you very much.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lapa with braai was so useful since we had a we rainy days. Hot water donkie worked great. No problems with hot water. Would just liked to have had hot water in lapa as well for washing dishes.

2018 was the year we decided to go camping for the first time, and Uitvlugt Camp and Cottage made this experience worthwhile. The owners were so humble and friendly, we felt right at home. The camping area was tidy, toilets and braai area included, stock of wood always available. I would definitely recommend Uitvlugt Camp and Cottage, because it's exactly what one needs after a year of hustle and bustle: tranquility, peacefulness and a wake-up call with the birds. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you guys!
Uitvlugt is really a gem hidden away. Beautiful houses so neat and clean. We stayed together with friends for the weekend. Everything very convenient and quiet. We stayed in a smaller house just right for me and my husband and our friends with a 7 month old baby stayed in the bigger house, worked out perfectly with their own camping cot. The shower's head sprays a little in all directions and makes the bathroom wet. You do not have to take anything but your own food. The owner was very friendly and escorted us to the cottages, and had extra wood available for us too. It was a pure farm, and the farm animals were so nice to go see and we walked all over the whole farm. We feel they need to update their photos of Uitvlugt, because there's so much more to see than just those pictures and maybe make their confession on Facebook, where guests can also upload photos of their nice visits to Uitvlugt. A lot of potential and very nice place, at a very affordable price.
Uitvlugt provides a nice break from everyday to enjoy nature while still providing guests with hot showers. An enjoyable stay, perfect for a family or group of friends.
Had a great stay. The weather wasn't the best but made the camping more exciting. A nice hot shower on the morning did the trick. Thank you to the maintenance guy who heated our water each morning and for assisting us.
The campsites were neat with electrical points. Lots of hiking trails. Cottage was small but comfortable.
We had a great time at Uitvlugt. Our son and grandson spent hours in the boat on the pond in an unsuccessful attempt to catch a fish, but they had fun. We would love to rest there again.
We were a little shocked at the accommodation when we arrived. It consisted of a renovated farm labourers cottage. Very basic. Nothing like the website. It is a step back in time and needs a little upgrading. However it grew on us. Although basic it had all you needed. I found that you needed to wash cups, plates and glasses before use. It was very quiet and peaceful. The main issue was mosquito's. Hundreds of them. Please advise future clients to take some mosquito protection.
Stunning scenery, beautiful to be right on the dam and our children loved spotting all the bird life. The hot water showers were a treat in such a rustic setting. We felt a bit unsafe, as there was no controlled access to the farm, although we did see the farmer on one of the days we were there. I think it would have been better had there been more campers. There were just two families when we were there.
My husband and I went camping with our 1 year old daughter. The pitches are very close to each other and not very large. I feel the ablution facilities are too few if the campsite is full for all the people camping there. The lighting is also very little.
Second time there, will return for a third time.
It is picturesque and very peaceful.
First thing my son said coming out of the toilets at the camp site was: Mommy it's so clean! I was impressed with all the lighting at the campsite, even my 5 year old was willing to go alone to the loo at night. Ample undercover space in the braai area. During a thunderstorm they sent someone out to come check if everything was okay. So awesome to boil hot water on a fire that warms up the showers and it stayed hot whole morning. Will visit again, hopefully with more people.

This little house has everything you need for a quick getaway. Just a few items I want to bring under the attention of management: fridge doesn't seal properly and maybe consider replacing the the mattresses. But in general we were very happy. Thank you so much.
This is a very nice, tranquil little place with everything you'd need to ensure a great stay. Will be back. Just a tip: more firewood for winter please.
Uitvlugt Plaas was easy to locate. We booked the 4 sleeper unit. Enough space for an overnight stay. Good location close to Robertson and other wine routes.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and to be alone, this is the place for you!
The 'romantic cottage' ended up being a slightly updated workers' unit. The furniture was old and shabby and the door frames are so low - neither my husband nor I could walk upright. We have spent the last few weeks in a large number of different places and Uitvlugt offered by far the worst value for money.
The correspondence with the owner was very bad and the unit is disappointing with the wind howling through the broken front door. The facilities are very bad with scanty, old furniture and torn chair cushions. A farm worker's house where no effort was made to create convenient overnight accommodation. The dishes weren't even washed properly.
