Thank you for a wonderful weekend Umbabala Bush Camp, the tranquility is exactly what we needed, the service was amazing and I would recommend for a quick peaceful break, the places were so clean and everything there was what was needed . Thank you very much.
Awesome and very nice, peaceful and friendly people.
Braai area was convenient, owners are doing forest thinning and cutting grasses which makes people feel more safe. Towel rails can be added in the bathrooms. Personally, the forest camp is a preference for me.
Nice people who own the place. Not intrusive, but still super helpful.
Amazing relaxed the best.
The place is not clean, cutlery, bathtubs not washed when we got there.
I would suggest a little more thorough cleaning, especially the bathrooms, showers and tubs.
Other than it not being clean, I have nothing to complain about.
Johan is very friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean and kitchen has everything you need. Nice break away from the city.
Wow! We had a beautiful, peaceful long weekend. My family, teenagers loved the experience and that pool and taking walks. Umbambala Bush Camp rocks.
Most activities that were advertised were not there, e.g. horse riding and the road in the yard to the farm was terrible. I couldn't even drive a kilometre, I just had to turn back.
Will not recommend it! The place is very dirty and needs maintenance. The blinds did not open properly making it very dark inside. The gate is locked with a chain and no key was provided making it difficult to come and go. Spiders and webs everywhere. Rating: -10.
I would not recommend this resort to anyone - it's dirty (shower has mould, all kitchen facilities were dirty, I don't even want to mention the beds, was scared that is how dirty it is - anything can breed in it. The road is terrible with no proper directions, glad I took the GPS coordinates otherwise we would not have found the place. Our refrigerator could not even be plugged in. When you use the 2 plate stove the power trips. Bath water would take approximately 4 hours to fill. Owner very agro when I confronted him on the little space you have to move the tables and beds to make space for sleeping. Please avoid this experience.
I really recommend Umbabala for the tranquility in nature. Johan was so hospitable and asked us what we wanted to do while we were there. For us it was to go nowhere and just relax. Johan said there is a lot to do in the area but we preferred to just be on the farm. The rondavels are so well equipped and there is everything you need. We went for walks to look for game and to look at nature. Umbabala is really value for money.
Very nice little place, very relaxing, away from everything and everyone, was wonderful. Had to leave earlier for personal reasons, but it was very nice.
Johan and his workers very friendly. Helped me wash my son's rugby jerseys. Very nice and peaceful place. Love nature. Everything nice clean and tidy. Will go again. One must have a pick-up truck or SUV. The road is typical farmland road.
Google Maps is mislabeled on the website. We relied on the directions and never arrived at the destination.
We were very impressed with Umbabala Bush Camp! We were received by Johan and immediately felt at home. The chalet was beautiful and just what we needed. It is fully equipped with the necessary. The surrounding wildlife is breathtaking and creates an atmosphere of calm and tranquility. There were hiking trails to get a closer look at nature. It's close to surrounding nature reserves and Predator Parks. Lots to do and the kids will never be bored. My wife and I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much for an unforgettable weekend!
We really enjoyed it. If you want to escape technology and the outside world, it's definitely the place to go. Johan was a wonderful host who greeted us friendly despite the fact that we arrived very late. The unit is very neat and definitely the first house with a thatched roof that I've seen that is so clean from top to bottom. Will definitely stay there again.
The only major problem was the fact that your map location and our GPS took us far from the actual location. The result was that we had to drive approximately 20 km further for the overnight accommodation and an additional 60 km from our overnight accommodation to our function on Saturday and back. It will need immediate attention.
Everything was neat and clean upon our arrival. Sufficient hot water is provided. The surroundings are picturesque and a walk in nature is just the thing to clear one's head. The togetherness around the snooker table and pool was nice and relaxing. We as a family thoroughly enjoyed the time together.
It is the perfect place for people who want to relax in beautiful surroundings. The accommodations are not luxurious, but have everything you need to stay comfortably. Each spot is surrounded by trees so you are also quite private and not disturbed by other people. There are also roads where you can drive around with your vehicle and watch wildlife (4x4 or whatever vehicle). Johan, the owner, is also always available to help and is also very friendly himself. Lots to see and do in the area. In short, it's the perfect place to recharge your batteries and really relax.
Umbabala Bush Camp is a great getaway from home. The perfect place to unwind and relax with family and friends. Johan is a super host and accommodates for all your needs, he go's out of he's way to make sure you happy and at home when you there. Thank you Johan for organizing the dstv for the rugby game - you ledgend! We will definitely be back soon.
A lovely place to visit if you want to be close to nature and in the bush. The owners were very helpful. Feel free to contact them ahead of time and they will help you properly plan exploring the area. Ideal if you want to be right in the bush.
Coordinates were not correct. Landed in wrong place. Johan, the manager of Umbabala, gave me very good directions. The accommodation is clean, tidy and comfortable. The chalet is inside the forest and you cannot see your neighbour. Nature is amazing. Lovely to go for a walk on the roads in a unique environment. However, roads not suitable for driving with an ordinary car. Definitely need a vehicle with high ground clearance. Was a wonderful experience and can recommend Umbabala to nature lovers.
The weekend trip was very pleasant, the owner and the worker was very helpful. Would love to go again sometime soon.
Too expensive for what you get. No cleaning service, no dishcloths, no dishwashing liquid, no towels. Therefore not worth the price. Otherwise a lot of positives. Birdlife and tranquility nice.
I would only recommend this for the people who are interested in Bundu Bashing. Really not a good place to stay with kids - the place was also not tidy. The hospitality and friendliness was the highlight of our stay.
It was very nice and there was everything needed for the rondavel. I can recommend it if you want to enjoy a quiet weekend.
The private braai area was great. There was no noise at all. So if you want to get away from the city life, then the place is for you. The chalet was tidy, very nice bathroom.
Nice place if you like the bush and if you like to rough it. It is quiet and relaxing. I think it is too small to accommodate 4 people.
We were without power and without contact with the management all weekend. But it's really a place that could do so much better.
We had a great stay and rested. We were able to take our puppy with us, because the people who were supposed to look after her said at the last minute that they couldn't look after her anymore. Hospitality and service were very good; will go again and stay longer. Thank you very much for your good service, we will certainly use your service again.
Very nice stay. Everything is well equipped, people are friendly and service is good.
A very cute place! The dirt road is a bit bad if you only have a regular car and not a 4x4!
Very peaceful, away from the city's noise, without TV and internet. It's a real farm atmosphere. The road to the farm is not made for a sedan, try the road with a pickup truck or elevated SUV.
It's a bush camp, so take your extras. The necessary is there and it is neat and you are helped with kindness if you have forgotten something. The owner took us to the dam and it is breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. We would love to go again.
Good for those that love the bush, do hunting and so forth. Need to have a bakkie [4x4]. A bit far out for what I intended to do. However, it is a good place for wildlife lovers.
Very relaxing place and interesting. The owners are very nice and helpful.
