Lovely place to relax and rest.
It's the ideal location and atmosphere for us when we travel just the 2 of us. Stunning views straight out of the bedroom and the dam and surroundings leave you mesmerised. If I could make a suggestion, perhaps a workspace at the braai area. Otherwise, the perfect rustic space to appreciate and enjoy nature and its beauty and the company you are keeping. Vicky is also extremely friendly and helpful. We, of course, are boasting about the accommodation as much as we can to anyone that will listen. Thank you for the experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wonderful setting in a relaxed and comfortable environment. It is a pity that the house we stayed in does not have a shower, and that no towels were supplied.

Really lovely setting by a big dam, great for swimming, lovely lawn and jungle gym for kids, and nice braai spot. Well-equipped. Would definitely come again. Also very accessible right outside Swellendam. Only issue was that it was very hot and no fans were provided.

The bedding is old. Potty was clogged. Water from faucets and showers was dirty.
Outside bin quarter full of used disposable nappies on arrival. Portable toilet full and smelled very bad on arrival. Dried blood on the floor inside. Very old and poorly maintained.
Umshati is a place to rest, away from the hustle and bustle. The silence that greets you immediately makes you one with the beautiful nature that surrounds you. The water that lies quietly in front of you, framed by the beauty of the mountains! It's just beautiful! The accommodation is everything one needs to be able to experience a comfortable rest. Everything is clean and tidy. The kindness will make you go back again and again to experience even more. We could only stay one day, but we'll be back for sure! Thank you very much!

We stayed for 2 nights at Umshanti in the Chapel and it was amazing. Nothing fancy, but you have everything that you need. The peace and quiet are wonderful and the views were breathtaking! We would recommend Umshanti everywhere we go!
The atmosphere is complete peacefulness. Nature and bird life are amazing. We unfortunately had to cut our trip short because of the mountain fires because my husband has stage 4 cancer and it was impossible for us to stay on. We will definitely stay there again if the possibility arises. It would be nice if they could put for example a grater in the kitchen.
It was very peaceful and quiet. The nature is beautiful and I will definitely go back to Umshanti again.
A very pleasant place with breathtaking scenery, even if a rain spider scares you every now and then, we will definitely stay there again. The small wooden surface on two kayaks with a small battery powered engine for two people is a must on the Buffeljags dam/river. It is special and very romantic. Thank you very much, Kosie and Vicky.

It is a place like in the old days where families gather and enjoy themselves. Water sports, reading, barbecuing and big fires at night where everyone has a good chat. It was incredibly nice with very friendly staff. We will definitely go again.
