Had a great time. Very friendly and well treated. Owners try their best to make the stay as comfortable as possible.
Very nice place to stay with small children. Comfortable from one seat and very nice to relax. Very pleasant owners.
Jackie and Tony were great, made you feel like family!
We had an amazing time, the owners stopped by often when we were sitting outside to make sure we had everything we needed. They are considerate, considerate, welcoming, friendly and very concerned about our safety. We always had someone to attend to any needs. The cleaning service is very thorough and incredibly fast. It doesn't even bother you. The living area is comfortable and has everything one could need. Should there be something, one can feel the freedom to ask and it is indeed available somewhere. Unathi is 100% recommended if you want to get out of the city for a bit and spend time with the family.
We had a great time at Unathi Private Game Lodge and felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
We were in Hartbeespoort and didn't feel like driving back in the evening, so this was a nice overnight stay.
The host was incredibly friendly, helpful and we enjoyed every moment of the hospitality. Our little dog (Beagle) was also welcome and I think he enjoyed it even more than we did. The facilities were clean, tidy and really felt like a cabin in the woods.
Very peaceful and ideal for a break away - We will go again, everything clean and tidy. Wonderful tent space under roof!
Jackie and Mark are excellent hosts. We had a great time. Friendly, helpful and considerate. Will visit here again for sure. Feels like we made new friends.
Pleasantly surprised, was a lovely break! Children had so much fun swimming and playing.
Had a wonderful afternoon and evening.
Had a lovely few days. Service and hospitality were excellent. The fact that you can take your dog with you is a bonus. We really enjoyed the game drives. Will visit again.
Fantastic! The hosts are great. Amenities are clean, tidy and sufficient for a peaceful weekend in the woods. Really value for money for everyone who appreciates silence and nature. The animals are plentiful and are beautifully looked after! Unathi stole our hearts and we are definitely regular visitors from now on!
Great getaway! The hospitality and kindness of the host and hostess was exceptional! Perfect location for a quick getaway.
We had a wonderful time with my family, so much for both the kids and adults to do. The host was the absolute best, she made us feel like we were home away from home. Our chalet was clean, the reception was perfect, the pools were very clean, and the place was well looked after. We bonded with our family without interference. The staff was very helpful when we thought we misplaced our key, and my kids didn't want to leave. Thank you so much, and we will come again for a longer stay.
Very quiet and peaceful if you are looking for a small place in the bush and a braai.
It was nice, so tranquility in touch with nature.
We enjoyed every minute of it. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. We got to see some game and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Very nice place there.
Very neat and clean, what you see in the photo is there as well as friendly people. Was very nice.
Nice, but not the quiet Game Lodge we hoped for with lots barking dogs and children exploring and watching game on loud four-wheelers. The stairs in Unit no 5 was not safe and we were moved to better units.
Our hostess and her husband made us feel super welcome. The few days we spent there ended up feeling like we were visiting very good old friends. The facilities are excellent and the luxury tent was well equipped. It was almost like camping in a tent and a chalet all in one. Unathi boasts a large variety of game and it was very satisfying to see the sable, zebra, nyala, impala, etc., come to feed right by our tent's fence in the late afternoon. It was an incredible experience and a real escape from the maelstrom of life. It won't be long before we return to Unathi again to hang out with our new "friends".
The facilities at the lodge are great and the service is excellent! We look forward to going back!
I chose Unathi on the picture on the website and found so much more there! Game drives, 2 swimming pools, a place for kids to play, and private and communal braai areas. I loved the place!
Really highly recommend, the owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home.
Jackie welcomed us kindly and made us feel at home. The chalets are neat and clean. It was an unforgettable weekend we had. Driving among the animals and watching them eat is just wonderful. Unathi, see you again soon.
Comfortable clean chalet with kitchenette, en-suite bathroom and verandah. The kitchen has all utensils, a microwave, a 2-plate stove and a fridge. Braai facilities. A peaceful place to break away from city life. Cell phone signal fair. The swimming pool looked inviting. Bar on site. Friendly helpful hosts.
Best getaway in a long time. Definitely go again. Friendly owners. Thanks Jackie, and son taught me a lot about the field, felt like a VIP.
It wasn't just a getaway. We made friends forever. Staff go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Very nice stay, service 100%, friendly people.
Beautiful, peaceful place. Wild extremely beautiful and extra well cared for. Great place to stay. Birds of all species. Relax in the woodland at Unathi.
So peaceful and very comfortable.
Quiet in the woods.
See them again soon.
It was peaceful and quiet.
The owner was very helpful, visit was very nice, the only thing was they didn't tell us the bar was closed and there is no shop on site either.
Great breakaway just a few km away in nature.
Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
Quiet and peaceful. Relaxing and friendly staff.
First get away chance after lockdown and it was very relaxing. We were able to take our two dogs with us for the weekend and still go on self-drive game drives that will not be allowed everywhere (which is understandable because you will find dogs that bark and make the game wild). It was so nice, just can't wait to see that beautiful part of the woodland after good rain. Unit 5 is practical and well equipped for a small family like us consisting of 3 people, especially for the price you really can't complain! We will go back again!
We needed peace and quite and that was wat we had for the weekend. Will definitely make a plan to visit Unathi again. Thank You Cilliers for your hospitality.
Unathi was great. We booked a day in advance and were pleasantly surprised. The units are neat and spacious. Very nice braai facilities under large shade trees. The pool is nice and big and perfect for the summer months.
Can see there are places that need some attention. For example, some of the swings in the playground have screws and splinters that can hurt children. The driver is brilliant. He does everything in this place. Makes food, bartender, cleaner, reception and do it all with a smile.
I loved this place and will be back, I just found that the staff didn't really communicate with us, we booked a bush breakfast for Saturday morning but it rained unfortunately so we had to cancel. Breakfast was at 9 and at 10:15 we still didn't know what was happening or where to go etc. The game drive we booked for Saturday afternoon 4pm but it rained. No one came to see if we still wanted to go or if we could move it to another time or the next day so we just left it. Didn't get to go on a game drive. Pity about the bathroom, we were in chalet 1 and unfortunately the squirrels are in the chalet which I understand not much can be done to keep them out but the mess in the bathroom is just terrible. All in the shower and toilet not clean at all. But overall we had a nice stay nice and relaxing and the breakfasts were amazing.
The place is nice and extremely well maintained. We arrived on Friday night and got a complimentary bag of wood. The chalet is very clean, but very small. When we asked about our included breakfasts (for 5), we were told that they did not offer breakfast anymore (this could have been mentioned before we finalised the booking, but it was not). I then found the R1750 pn quite pricey for the size of the cottage that we had - given the fact that we did not have breakfast included anymore. Anyhow, we had a very pleasant stay until Sunday morning. Got a text message at 10:30 am from the manager saying that the checkout time was 10 am (we were busy packing and cleaning). We immediately vacated the chalet and asked if we could stay on the premises to enjoy the facilities for a bit longer (swimming pool for the kids, walk in the game farm, etc). To our surprise, we were told no and that we had to leave immediately. This put a very abrupt end to our weekend, and we were back home at lunchtime, which literally spoilt half a weekend day. We have been to many lodges/chalets over the past years, and this is literally the first time that we were "asked to leave" so early on a Sunday, and are not allowed to use the facilities (I understand about vacating the accommodation to allow for cleaning, but we can usually stay on the property). My husband discussed with the manager, trying to understand and simply got told that we had to go. Anyhow, we paid R3500 for 2 nights and I feel that without the breakfasts and being literally asked to leave the game farm so early on Sunday, we are very disappointed. Shame, because otherwise, I think the place would have deserved a 4-star rating.
Was peaceful and beautiful. Would love to go again. It's private and bathrooms were always clean.
Had an amazing time at Unathi. Unit was clean and tidy with everything you need. The breakfast was of excellent quality. Definitely going to visit them again very soon.
We enjoyed the weekend so much! Would recommend the place anytime. Chane and Harry make you feel right at home and are so friendly. They welcomed us warmly. The place is neat and affordable. The perfect place for a getaway. We will definitely return again! You guys are awesome!
We were kindly received upon our arrival. Everything was already in place and I just had to pay the key deposit. One note to keep in mind is that there are a lot of mosquitoes, but that's nature. You, as a visitor, know in advance what you are letting yourself in for and must make adequate provision for it. We had a great time playing with Lucy and by Sunday we, (me, my son and Lucy) were out. Our arms were off from throwing the ball and Lucy was passed out. I can highly recommend Unathi Lodge to anyone who likes the bush but is not necessarily looking for five star accommodation, entertainment and costs.
But what need to improve is TV. And install Wi-Fi for guests.
See stars.
It was incredibly nice. Just a pity we didn't see a manager or owner at all. One wants to be welcomed. Only Isaac the bartender was there all weekend to help if we wanted to know or needed anything.
It's a nice family resort where you can rest and enjoy time with your children.
Unathi Bush Lodge is the perfect breakaway for relaxation. We were received with open arms and felt welcome. I had a few extra requests and they went out of their way to make those things happen. Will recommend it so anyone.
The atmosphere of the place is excellent, everyone is friendly, the horse riding was wonderful and the place should be even nicer in the summer with a swimming pool.
Suggestion: Seeing that it's self-catering, the kitchen needs more space to prepare food. The shower's floor really hurts your feet.
Very nice place, but on website they promise tea, coffee, sugar and milk. We only got some coffee powder and no sugar or milk. Had to go and ask for garbage can. Had to ask again later for our tub to be cleaned because it was full of grass, manure and urine. Told us that there were squirrels nesting in the roof. Next morning, the bath is again full of dung and urine. So could not bathe and went swimming later. Sunday evening I found one of the squirrels dead in the bath. Didn't ask for the bath to be cleaned again, because in my opinion, if you know about the problem, you as a resort should pay attention to it or come and clean it regularly. We only had the bath, no shower, so all weekend we just swam to get clean and washed our hair with a mug straight from the tap. Other than that, very nice place, but avoid the tents.
Thank you very much for the nice stay. You are all like a family. Lucy is infinitely beautiful. Peacocks are like pets, too cute. See you again.
See star-rating.
It was a lovely getaway from the rush of the city. The clean air and tranquillity lets you return to reality and the wonderful nature.
Very peaceful atmosphere and a great break. See you again December.
It was extremely pleasant; service was great.
Everything you need to really relax.
The directions to the farm were very easy to follow. We were quickly received and welcomed. We saw a lot of wildlife and the animals are quite tame. Nathan went out of his way to make us feel at home and even took us on a bird watching hike. It was nice to walk with such a knowledgeable guide.
Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. We saw quite a bit of wildlife and felt safe.
It was quite a nice experience, everyone was friendly, felt as if everyone had known each other for years. Thank you very much for the wonderful time.
The accommodation is clean and neat. The owners are friendly and pleasant. It might need a couch inside, it gets cooler now and it will be nice if you can sit inside at night. There is a wonderful friend for the kids, Luccy, a beautiful dog that offered hours of fun!
Peaceful, accommodating and a perfect getaway if you looking for some quiet time to rest. A wonderful place indeed and will definitely return for more stays.
Very nice. Would have enjoyed if there was a small shop available.
The accommodation was lovely, if you want silence, go to Unathi Game Lodge. Took a lovely walk every morning in the bush and saw animals, kudus, blue wildebeest, blesbuck, red buck and zebras. Nobody and nothing bothering you.
Very nice. Will go again.
Was very nice and not far to drive at all.
Positive: Owners were very friendly and helpful. Nice setting. Ideal for people without children who just want to rest and do nothing. Negative: Play area very unsafe eg. a loose ladder made to stand against a tree is used by children to climb into tree houses. Holes at the sides of the trampoline are open. Nothing to do, no game drives. On arrival it was mentioned that the bar was open 24 hours per day, but when we wanted to get drinks at 18:30 during our braai everything was closed. Lucy the dog is very cute but he tore our children's toys and we had to entertain him all the time by throwing a ball. When I go to a lodge I don't want to keep other people's animals busy. This is a house on other people's private farm which is utilised as a lodge. Every time I needed something I had to go into the owner's private lodging which was uncomfortable. They are still new in this industry and I hope things will improve because this place has potential.
Accommodation was good. The fact that I was called afterwards and told that I didn't pay left a bad taste in the mouth. Accommodation was paid 2 days before we arrived and proof of payment was acknowledged by Unathi itself. So I won't be back and I won't recommend it to anyone else at all.
