The manager bent over backwards to accommodate us as vegetarians. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The accommodation was clean and fresh and ready for us on arrival.
We were helped immediately upon arrival and received a very warm welcome. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very comfortable. The room was very tastefully furnished and the premises very neat and clean. We especially liked the beautiful view over the river and park.

The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. The room is nice; however, only one packet of tea and one packet of instant coffee is offered in the room with powdered creamer instead of milk, with no other drinks or meals included in the room rate, which is unusual considering the R980+ per night charged. There is no fan, no airflow, and no bug screens, which are also pretty normal here, and that is disappointing and not very practical. There is A/C, although it is not great to sleep with that on all night. There is only one way in and out of the room and only one way in and out of the property, so if there is a fire or anything, it will be a problem. That said, it also seems to be the norm here in South Africa. After the recent disaster in Johannesburg, I am surprised that more multi-dwelling owners haven't reconsidered this. When there is load shedding, there is also no hot water, which they need to communicate to foreign travellers like me because I wasn't aware that was also an issue - it is the first time for me to have to deal with this in the three years I have been travelling here, so it was rather unfortunate that I was unable to enjoy the lovely bathtub. Instead, I had a cold water bucket bath. It would be good to indicate or show in photos that the bathtub has no shower feature attached because that was also surprising for me. I am not a fan of sitting in soup, and so I like to shower off the dirt and sweat of the road before the bath, which is not possible. There are far too many cushions in my opinion; it looks nice in photos, but there is no place to put them if you actually want to use the chairs and the bed, as well as the desk and the drawers. The Wi-Fi does not reach the rooms very well, which can be helped by a booster. I ended up having to stand in the rain in the garden in order to get my work emails sent. It is likely fine in the restaurant which was closed, unfortunately for me. The pool is just for a plunge, not for a swim. I was pleasantly surprised to find decent coffee, good food, and a nice verandah at the restaurant on site, along with gorgeous views of the river at sunset.
Power and water problems, the kitchen was terribly dirty and the smell disgusting. We decided not to have breakfast for health reasons.
We had a delicious meal in the on-site restaurant. The weather was freezing cold, but we were cozy in the room with air conditioning and electric blanket. Secure parking. We love walking and would like to have access to the grassy area by the river, but the area is cordoned off by a wire fence.
Vaal de Vue Guest House was a surprise after driving through town.

Vaal De Vue Guest House is a piece of heaven on earth. We enjoyed the tranquility. The patio area has lovely, large lounge chairs and we were in it for almost the whole weekend. It's so lovely to sit there and look out over the pond and camping area and rest. The staff are 10/10 - so friendly, helpful and simply enjoy chatting together. The food is super and the convenience that you can get everything there from breakfast to dinner and between bites is a plus and it makes everything so much easier. The rooms are beautiful and everything you need. Everything is first class from the linen to the complimentary coffee and tea box. I wish Vaal de Vue Guest House only success and many blessings moving forward. You are highly recommendable and we will see you again in the future.
Nice people, very efficient and delicious food from the kitchen.
The guest house is very nice and clean. Meals can be eaten in the restaurant or you can ask them to bring them to your room. The guest house has a generator to keep the lights and necessary wall plugs on during load shedding. And you can charge your mobile phones and electrical equipment during load shedding. The road through the town to the guest house is a challenge, but we could easily get there with our regular Sedan, potholes were filled with dirt. Would recommend the place at all times.

Food was plenty and very tasty. Lovely time by the fireplace which creates a relaxed atmosphere. Decor is exceptional, enjoy all the detail. I might just remove the Jacuzzi from the ad, it's a bit misleading and maybe just add a hot tub to the specific room.

I am very impressed with the place. The rooms are lovely, the surroundings are quiet and you can even walk down to the river. The meals were delicious and well prepared and even their room service is good. The management and workers are friendly and helpful. I just wasn't terribly impressed with the cleaners going in while we're not there, without first making sure it's okay with us. Furthermore, it is a very nice place, peaceful and I will go there again.
The room is not luxurious, too small for 2 people. The open plan bathroom is inconvenient, after the shower the floor of the room was wet. One has to look carefully to see the river from the guest house.

The guest house is really good, but if you pay R120 extra for breakfast, but don't take it and they charge you R30 extra for a cup of coffee, I personally think it's presumptuous, but the place is really very neat and super luxurious. However, Christiana is really not a pleasant town to drive in - it's just potholes and it's dirty. It's a shame that such a fancy place has to be in such a town.
No water, no power, sewage stinks, after 45 minutes of waiting for dinner but went to bed (ordered salad and hamburger). Yes we can blame the municipality but we all live in South Africa and have the same challenges with services. Make provision if you want to run a business. Not even water available to flush the toilet or an extra bottle of water to brush teeth. Ostrich policy - ignore the guests and just hope they drive to the next town, because their money has already been paid.

We stayed so nice, Esme was friendly, extremely helpful and went out of her way to make us feel at home. It is also a beautiful place, soothing to the eye, neatly clean and a nice bed! The most delicious, but the most delicious carrot cake!

My husband and I stayed at Vaal De Vue for the night for our wedding anniversary in the waterlily room. We are 100% accommodating with every single one of our extra requests. Marie-Louise was a great manager and immediately makes you feel welcome and special. The facilities were beautiful and very nice, neat and clean and you lack nothing. She made the room so beautiful for us upon our arrival down to the finest detail ─ rose petals in the room/bathroom...champagne on ice and the nicest bubble bath in the bathroom. A table was specially set for us for breakfast by the fireplace and the food was top notch. We would stay there again anytime and recommend it to anyone. Once again, many thanks to Vaal De Vue Guest House for an unforgettable weekend away.

Nice clean place with nice dinner and breakfast. However, at 8 o'clock in the evening all the staff left and we were alone in an open guest house with music and lights still on. We felt very unsafe and got little sleep.
This establishment is listed as riverside accommodation. Only the restaurant has views of the river, the two rooms inside the restaurant doesn't have views of the river, you can also not access the river or walk on the riverbanks as it is across the road from an enclosed campsite that is next to the river. We booked self catering accommodation and were escorted two blocks from the restaurant (away from the river) to a complex where we had a tiny room. On the site the self catering options state that they have living rooms, which we didn't have, we didn't even have one chair. There was also no wall or door between the bed and bathroom which was VERY awkward. Thoroughly disappointing!
Gert confirmed our stay within a few minutes and arranged for a delicious braai pack, salad, pap and sauce for dinner. We were stunned with all the beautiful decor and how comfortable everything was done. The staff were extremely professional and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I still can not get over the delicious lemon meringue and very big breakfast.

Elmarie, the manager, is a touchy feeler who carried us on her hands. My husband likes simple good country food and that's exactly what we got, it was delicious! The owner is "hands-on" and very involved, a stylish woman with very good taste. Not to mention the excellent baked goods. We have three children (10, 5 and 20 months) and they were very spoiled with our visit at Vaal De Vue! "Aunt" Marie-Louise" fed them leftover cream from her lychee pie. The rooms had air conditioning, everything was nice and new, clean and tidy. Top notch!

My stay here was comfortable and the reception was excellent. The bed and room were comfortable. Little things were an annoyance - no cups or glasses in the room, and the breakfast area really wasn't neatly cleaned in the morning (mixed drink umbrellas were lying around and the cutlery wasn't particularly clean.) The breakfast was basic, but tasty. A little more attention to the little things and my stars were a lot more generous.
We really enjoyed our stay. The people were very hospitable and the service good. Will stay there again.

The experience at Vaal De Vue was very positive. We felt very at home and welcome. Everything was very clean and tidy. All facilities were at our disposal. The only problem was that there is no shelf in the room to put your suitcase on. We were allowed to use dining room chairs which were perfectly fine.
