Guests are accommodated in a tastefully decorated 2 bedroomed cottage, each bedroom sleeps 2 and is en-suite with 2 three-quarter beds, a shower, toilet and hand basin. Crisp linen, towels and local braai wood are provided.
The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, microwave, portable gas cooker top, tea-and-coffee-making facilities, crockery and cutlery. The lounge area has wonderful mountain views and a spacious veranda with a built-in braai and outdoor furniture.
On the south side, a wooden deck leads guests to a hide overlooking an earth dam where animals congregate to drink and play.
Nature walks are well signposted and vary in difficulty, all allowing guests to enjoy the terrain and wildlife of this unique area. Enjoy a cocktail high above the Karoo plains or in a beautiful, secluded gorge.
Vaalkop specializes in breeding small antelope including Klipspringers, Blue duikers and Grysbokkies. Guests can accompany staff at feeding time to learn more about these shy and unique antelope. While on the trails and farm roads keep an eye open for kudu, impala, springbok, giraffe, blue wildebeest, common duikers, steenbuck and the scarce Cape mountain zebra along with numerous small cats and predators.

3 guests' feedbackWe absolutely loved our stay here! Mark & Bernadette were wonderful hosts. The cottage itself was very comfortable, super clean and very well equipped. The outdoor shower was one of our favourites! The farm itself is very quiet and peaceful with a lot of hidden gems. We had a braai on the mountain top with breathtaking views, and we also stumbled upon another picnic spot in the mountains. If you are looking for a place to recharge your batteries, be in nature, enjoy the animals with lots of privacy - look no further! We can't wait to come back.
Vaalkop Reserve is an ideal place to relax and walk. The house is comfortably furnished and there were many personal touches. We really enjoyed our stay.
What a piece of heaven on earth. Many thanks to Mark for making everything so easy. The place was far beyond our expectations. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching wild animals move in front of our cottage. If you love walking in nature, this is the place, we walked far every day and every day in a different direction. The pool is lovely to cool off in and the boma a bonus on a warm cloudless evening. You can go and charge your batteries!
