24 guests' feedbackWe had a lovely stay with everything we needed for our holiday. The kitchen is well stocked with a variety of cookware and crockery. The beds are very comfortable, and we felt rested and ready to take on each new day. Just one recommendation: 3 of our group were on crutches, and there was no comfortable seating downstairs. The outside picnic table is handy but difficult to sit at with one leg not working properly. A few camping chairs on the stoep would have been welcome.
Our stay was good, just a pity couldn't open the upstairs door to sit outside on the balcony. needs some work on the house.
The location was good, with lots of little goats living around the house. Every day we found animals at the feeding trough. The pool was dirty with algae floating and growing everywhere. Next to the swimming pool/barbecue area lies old construction debris that was never thrown away. The ashes of the fire are thrown just next to the wall of the boma area. Some of the tiles at the boma's seats are gone, which doesn't look good. The place urgently needs a decent cleaning session, maintenance work and some new furniture. The WiFi was a plus.
Vacation was very nice, but the pool was not in working order, so the trip was not as exciting for the kids since they couldn't play in the pool, forcing us to spend less time at the house.
The house is spacious with more than enough space for 8 people, the 3 full bathrooms made everything so much better. House is equipped with most necessities, except the following which made the stay a bit unpleasant. 1. There is no broom or mop in the house, when we asked the lady who looks after the property if we can arrange for someone to clean the house - everyone was booked. We then asked if she only can arrange a broom and mop for us, after almost no assistance, she only left a broom. We then went and bought a mop as it seemed she doesn't want to help or assist us with something one shall think is standard practice to leave a broom and mop for your guests. 2. There is no one cleaning the fire pit in the mornings. There is no shovel for us to do it ourselves, we asked the lady in charge of the house if we can arrange a shovel as the ashes were getting a lot after a few days. She, unfortunately, did not want to assist us in this matter as well. We noticed they dump the ashes behind the braai area's wall - looking terrible by the way. When we booked in, we needed to fetch the keys at Field Security - What a rude lady working there, she was so unfriendly and rude that we told her that kindness costs nothing. Not sure if she is under the impression that she is doing us a favour, in fact, if it wasn't for the guests, she most probably will not have a job. We visit Marloth 2 to 3 times a year, she made sure that we will never book any accommodation if we need to fetch keys at Field Security. Both in and check out was a horrible experience. Otherwise, Vakantiehuis is a really superb house, clean and tidy inside. Needs a bit of TLC outside. Just sorry people in charge of the house and bookings making it a bit unpleasant.
Getting the key had been a whole day trip. The number given to contact was unreachable and we had to contact the agent ourselves. The pool was not working at all and we were not notified. The roof fans are all on 1 speed no matter how high or low you set them. There were a lot of cockroaches. Much of the crockery was cracked. The plot had not been looked after for a long time.
The door locks are broken, most of the window blinds are off, curtains are filthy with marks everywhere. Light switch is broken, bedside lamps do not work. Plates and cups are dirty and all the glasses are chipped. The place is dirty, shower and floors are dirty. There are cobwebs everywhere after they said they cleaned the place the day before. The place needs upgrading, the towels and bedding would be a good start as they are all washed out and look like scrubbing rags. The headboard of the bed is loose and falls on you while you sleep, big safety risk because it is very heavy. I would not recommend it to anyone. The tiles at the braai outside are broken and off in places and the braai is broken, need to use bricks to prop up the grill.
Our visit was really nice. The place is very special and beautiful. Everything worked as expected. A few comments that we hope the owner will take into account. There were not enough black bags and toilet paper for the amount of people. The stock can be adjusted by the number of people in the house and the period of the rental. Overall the place was clean except for the back door which we couldn't use. Lots of cobwebs and clearly not cleaned for a long time. We would also like to recommend that the trash rack outside in the street be lined with chicken wire, as the little monkey hands tear the bags to pieces and paper and plastic are blown all over the world. We appreciate the beauty of nature and do not like to see rubbish in the field and I think it is dangerous for the other animals. We just picked it up again and tried to keep the monkeys away. Otherwise, truly been a joy. Wish we could stay longer.
The curtain has stains and there is no oven other than that it was a lovely experience.
Very peaceful stay in the bush, we enjoyed every moment. The breakaway from the city life is much needed and the peace and quiet experienced was heavens.
There were many dirty areas in the house. We removed all the cobwebs ourselves and cleaned the floors.
Unbelievable. Everything was perfect. The location is perfect for animals that come looking for food. Would definitely recommend it.
The cottage has everything you need and also privacy for everyone. The animals were constantly present and that really made it special. It's peaceful and the nearby neighbors are also very quiet and don't disturb your privacy at all. I will definitely visit again and also recommend to any person. Definitely a must holiday for just being calm and resting.
Wonderful like that in the bushveld.
It was a beautiful stay. We just struggled cleaning the pool, the pump didn't start up at all, I guess it was the loadshedding issue that affected the timer. Otherwise, we had a good stay.
It bothered: Some of the bedside lamps do not work. No curtains or blinds in the kitchen or in front of the door. The dishcloths were dirty. The pillows in one bedroom were full of yellow sweat marks. The pillows in the other bedroom were completely flat. Some of the crockery was dirty.
Garbage cages outside was not emptied, garbage all over the place with broken glass that hurt animals.
We had a great time staying and visiting.
Animals were with us all day, they ate from our hands.
Pots not big enough to cook for 7 people, short on plates and other cookware, pool pump set to run at night, noisy when trying to listen to bush sounds.
Our stay was very pleasant and most of the time was spent in the pool and just relaxing.
The house was very dirty, you could see that it hasn't been cleaned in days, dead flies everywhere. Biscuits under the bed. And the caretaker is very rude.
The area is peaceful and we were able to relax. Did get a snake one night but contributed to the fun.
I can confidently recommend this unit. We had a great stay and would love to go again. Lots of space, everything you need and a nice braai area. The WiFi was also a bonus. Unfortunately and understandably, the pool was not usable due to repairs. So only request that in such case guests are informed about it. But it was still totally worth it. Many thanks to the owners.
