Valley Bushveld Country Lodge is an owner-managed, safari-styled lodge located in Eastern Cape, South Africa. The lodge is built on a Private Game Reserve on the banks of the Coega River, just 200 m off the R75, and located en-route to Addo, Kirkwood and Graaff-Reinet.
The lodge consists a central dining area, a large stylish lounge with a fireplace and a bar area and overlooks the river and natural rock face in the distance. The lodge has 1 x Standard Double Room which sleep 2 guests, 1 Standard Twin Room which sleeps 2 guests, 2 x Deluxe Double Rooms that can sleep 3 guests, 1 Family Room that can sleep 4 guests and 1 Executive Suite that can sleep 4 guests. The rooms are tastefully furnished to give you an African feel, with all the luxuries, such as high-quality linen and decor.
During the cold winter evenings, you will always find a fire going in the large fireplace and on a warm summers day, there is no better place to soak up the sun, than next to the swimming pool.
The lodge has an abundance of wildlife with a total of 17 species residing in the private reserve. When on the patio, or on a game drive, you could spot large wildlife such as giraffe, blue wildebeest, zebra, impala, jackal, lynx, and warthog, or smaller species such as meerkat or porcupines. There are also primates such as baboons and vervet monkeys which call the reserve home.
Numerous bird species, such as the majestic black eagle, nest in the bushveld, on mountain slopes and next to the river. The surrounding flora is succulent paradise, with Aloe, Euphorbia, Spekboom thriving abundantly, alongside protected Cycad and indigenous Strelitzia.
The unobstructed panoramic view of distant mountains, fine dining with traditional cuisine, unsurpassed sunsets, and unique storytelling, contribute to a relaxing and joyous atmosphere.

27 guests' feedbackA very neat place. The decor in the rooms is beautiful and the beds sleep wonderfully. Good pillows! The hostess is on her toes to do everything right. We didn't have the dinner, but we did have the breakfast, and it was top notch. I understand that it is ideal to sleep over there if the Addo Elephant Park is to be visited.

Great breakaway spot for a tranquil and relaxing break. Very friendly staff, fabulous service. Lovely scenery, lots of game to view.
The accommodation of our family room was very neat and the breakfast was very good. Our optional dinner was also special and the scenery with giraffes something special. The pool was a relief after the long day on the road.
Rooms are very neat and clean. Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced and breakfast was top notch. Owners are friendly and make you feel at home. Will stay longer next time. Really very nice place to rest.
Place is very neat, owners and manager very friendly and made us feel at home. The manager was extremely helpful. We made use of the braai facility and were asked what time we wanted the fire started, service was excellent and breakfast fantastic. The close encounter with the giraffes was an unforgettable experience.

I can't believe South Africans can be exploited like this! Double room - stay away! Book the Deluxe Double Room but receive the regular Double Room. Pay the same price. R1734 for the room for 2 persons per night. They state that it is a king size bed, but it is actually just two single beds side by side. Look at the picture of the room, that is exactly how big the room is. You have maybe half a meter on each side from the bed to the boundary walls of the room. If you stand in the middle of the bathroom, you can reach within arms length without stretching or stretching to touch the shower, toilet and sink. It's ridiculously tight. They say WiFi is available, note that it is only for 1 device per room. So if there are 2 people in the room, only 1 may be keyed to the WiFi. A 2 star lodge has better shower facilities than Valley Bushveld Country Lodge. There is no water pressure, and if any of the other guests use water in their rooms, the shower loses more pressure as well as water temperature. The Jacuzzi and pictures of the Jacuzzi made me change my decision from any other destination to stay there. When I got there they said, the Jacuzzi only works if there are no water restrictions. (But the pool is full.) It is not stated anywhere on the ad. This is a great attraction that they offer but hardly works. TV - This is an old box TV. Really? Are they still in the 1900s? DStv - Very few programs that are active to watch, and the programs that are active are programs that no one is watching. Common programs that are not active: MNet, Supersport, any news channels, KykNet. Table placement with dinner: There are not enough tables for the different rooms. Some of the guests had to sit at the table with strange people who were spending the night. No alternative option was proposed. Evening meal - Although optional, it costs R180 per person. It is the same price as a 5 star, very classy restaurant with a lot of status. The food was very good, but you can't spend R180 p.p. don't ask for that meal. And that doesn't include dessert. It is not worth a 4 star. And not according to the Tourism Grading Council either!

Valley Bushveld exceeded our expectations. The staff treated us like family. The manager went out of his way to make us feel at home and his knowledge of the area that he shares with the guests is fenomenaal. Despite the drought currently experienced by the Eastern Cape, the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. The dry riverbed is especially something to see and offers excellent scenery for photography. Valley Bushveld will undoubtedly see us again!

The stay was very good and we enjoyed it very much. I just have to mention that when I was looking for accommodation, I specifically looked for a place with a Jacuzzi, DStv and a boma. Valley Bushveld Country Lodge was one of the places that met all the requirements. However, when we got there the Jacuzzi was no longer in use, there was no DStv and we couldn't use the boma either.
The location suited us well as the accommodation was only for one night on the way to Tsitsikamma. We would (and already have) declared this a good stay.
What a wonderful weekend in the Eastern Cape. Just over 12km outside Uitenhage. Close to Addo and other interesting places (such as the cheetah center). Lots of game on the farm. The owners' personal involvement and knowledge of the environment and animals make the visit even more worthwhile. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. WiFi is a bonus. So is the fireplace and hanging out in the special living room. The game that comes to graze on the grass in front of the house. Rooms are small, but we had no need to sit in the room! The farm and the common places to visit are spacious and cosy. We will definitely come again!

The food is heavenly, the surroundings breathtaking, the 'hosts' are incredibly pleasant and one feels safe there.
Much thought has been given to the care and comfort of guests.The stuffed animals on the walls give the touch, folk dream about Africa. The owners are real hunters, and can open a new world to their guests. Folk from here and overseas will be delighted.
