163 guests' feedbackWhat a perfect getaway, everything was perfect from staff to cleanliness to location. The photos on the website did not do justice to the beautiful and large units. Would love to visit again.
The 3 days' stay at Valley of the Rainbow really refreshed my and my husband's souls. The silence, privacy and breathtaking scenery absolutely breathed new life into our city bodies.
Escape to Valley of the Rainbow for a perfect blend of tranquillity and excitement. This hidden gem offers both relaxing fly fishing and thrilling bass fishing experiences, all set against the backdrop of a peaceful river that flows past the accommodations. The cosy cottages and cabins seamlessly integrate with the natural surroundings, providing a rustic yet comfortable stay. Whether you're an angler or simply seeking a serene getaway, Valley of the Rainbow's harmonious fusion of nature and adventure is bound to leave you rejuvenated and captivated.
Clean and luxurious accommodation with lots of privacy. Perfect to get away from city life. Lots of hiking trails and things to see in the area. Would recommend at least using an SUV in the rainy season to get there.
Had a nice stay and walked a lot around the dams. Will go back.
Tented chalets were nice. New management can work on trimming the trees so that the view from the deck over the dam is not obstructed. Also, chalets should be fumigated, especially the bathroom, as there were many big spiders. Lastly, fishing was difficult with the bass dams being full of grass, especially dam 4. Fishing was the whole reason we came and we were left disappointed with only one catch for the weekend.
Very nice and peaceful.
We were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed on the beautiful farm with mountains, a river, hiking trails, ponds and beautiful scenery, by the hospitable, helpful, friendly management team.
Very nice and peaceful area.
I would definitely recommend the restaurant for food. The best food I have ever eaten. Breakfast can be eaten on an hour deck outside with a nice view.
Wim and Karen are great hosts. We had a great time - good value for money.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful stay. Delicious food.
Big house with nice rooms and bathrooms. Beautiful, clean and tidy inside with the most beautiful scenery outside. Had a great stay. Thanks for good service.
Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend with you. We were received very kindly and were personally taken to our tent chalet where everything was shown and explained to us. The tent chalet is very comfortable, neat and clean. The ponds and surrounding environment are perfectly maintained. Our family really enjoyed the hiking trails. The farm is rich in water with many ponds and a beautiful river and vegetation and bird life is something special. If you are looking for tranquility in nature, Valley of the Rainbow is for you.
This was my second visit to the Valley of the Rainbow. Previously drove through Dullstroom and the road was terrible. Management recommended I rather drive through Stoffberg, wow the road is so much shorter and more convenient. Thanks for that advice. The stay was more than I expected. The hospitality and helpfulness of all the staff was something special. The accommodation is really great and tidy. The food served was really fresh and very well presented, couldn't wait to see what was served each night. The trout ponds were in very good condition with no grass etc. not in the ponds. There were also enough fish in the ponds that most people could catch a few fish just to round out the weekend. We also explored the mountains around the farm a bit and there is a lot that is beautiful to see if you want to take a break from fishing. I will definitely visit the place many times. Away from Dullstroom's hustle and bustle, this is definitely the place.
Great stay and friendly staff.
We had a fantastic time at Valley of the Rainbow (tent-chalet). Everything was great, very comfortable and clean tent with everything you need. Thanks to Sarah for cleaning so beautifully every day. The whole farm is neatly maintained and spotless. Thanks to Paulus for teaching our son to fly-fish, he will always remember it. The 5 course meal was delicious! Thank you Elmarie and SP for your incredible hospitality. It's people like you that make people return there again. We look forward to vacationing there again, next time for longer than just a weekend.
It's a very quiet, peaceful, peaceful place with no cell phone reception which was great. Neatly clean. Has everything needed.
Valley of the Rainbow Estate is an incredible destination where you can fully experience and enjoy nature. The incredibly neat facilities with friendly staff make you feel right at home upon your arrival. One can really relax here. Would love to visit there again in the future.
Friendly reception, delicious food of the best. Will visit them again.
The Mill room was fantastic and unique. Close to the dams and lovely views. The fishing was good and we caught nice size trout in good condition. Looking forward to returning when Jamie has implemented his ideas for Valley of the Rainbow.
See stars.
Very friendly service from SP and Elmarie. The meals were of high quality. The suite was spacious and comfortable. The gardens are beautifully maintained. Great place to rest.
Enjoyed the silence and the bush. Very neat houses and friendly staff.
Will definitely ask that there are at least fans in the tent chalets. Also a warning in advance that there is no cellphone signal and that it will not be recommended for children or older people. There are no activities for children and the footpath to the tents is very uneven and uncomfortable. However, we really enjoyed it, it is a nice area and friendly reception. The restaurant's food is top notch!
Big, comfy bed in basic tent accommodation. All the self-catering needs are met, with no good of bad surprises. Very nice and remote, beautiful area. Clean.
If you want to get away from the noise of the city, this is the right place. Deafeningly still, with only the sounds of nature to calm your soul, away from technology. Beautiful view and for those who see the chance, feel free to try to catch a fish. All I will add is that you need a 4x4 as your regular car will not be able to tackle the road easily, especially if it has been raining.
Easy to get to, easy to find, only two and a half hours from home. Beautiful setting - wonderful accommodation. We really were aware of being close to nature with the sense of exclusivity while also being cosseted in luxury. Loved the log cabin, loved the manor house, loved the Mill House, loved the three trout lakes. Enjoyed the five course meal! Thank you to SP and Herman for making us feel welcome and the excellent conversation that we enjoyed with them. We definitely will return! We have found our special place.
From the booking we were treated to the best service. Nature, birds and fishing were great. Will go back anytime.
Unfortunately we only stayed one night! We felt very spoiled. The rooms are so spacious and the meals served are excellent. The hiking trails around the area were well marked and one could walk comfortably and appreciate the area. We will definitely be coming back to bring our kids too, they will enjoy themselves!
The resort is very neat and comfortable from the tents as well as the fishing ponds which allow for really good fly fishing. Although the trout eluded us, the black bass provided a lot of excitement on the lighter tackle. On Saturday evening we enjoyed a perfectly prepared 5-course meal at a very reasonable price with a more than adequate wine list. There are beautiful walking trails around the dams along the river among the trees, if we had stayed longer we would have made use of the picnic baskets that can be prepared for guests. Hospitality of the staff was something special.
It was heavenly, very very beautiful and nice place and top notch service. Food was delicious and very nicely served. Totally worth visiting here. The hospitality was very good. Will definitely go there again for a weekend breakaway.
Road there from tarmac a little uncomfortable. You need a 4x4 vehicle. Accommodation was comfortable and clean. Good bed in T5 and beautiful view over the water and the mountains. Nice hiking trail on site and challenging mountain drive. A nice place for a weekend getaway.
It was great to be able to just relax. We stayed in the Tented Chalet. It had a heater and electric blankets so it was lovely warm. The bonus plus was that there was no cell phone reception. The units also do not have TV. One relaxes to one's deepest being.
It was lovely! From arriving at reception to our departure. We stayed at Log Cabin 1. The place is beautiful! Everything is terribly neat and of top quality. With the river that bickers in your ears and beautiful bush veld right around you. It was bliss! Shaun and his wife are top quality hosts. We were so beautifully looked after, it was lovely. Thank you very much, you will see us again soon.
Place is very peaceful and private. Good break.
Beautiful and peaceful area and everyone was very friendly.
Shaun and Marjie are lovely people with stunning luxury accommodation.
Nice for a weekend getaway in the mountains.
We had a lovely time at Valley of the Rainbow Estate. The log cabin was neat, with a beautiful view. A nice place for a quiet weekend away.
Valley of the Rainbow exceeded our expectations for a much needed getaway weekend. We arrived on the Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the very reasonably priced 5 course dinner we received. We knew that we would be the ones missing out if we did not book breakfast and dinner for the remainder of our stay. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our restful stay in one of the Luxury Log cabins! The room was immaculately clean, the provided facilities well thought through, and the bed and pillows super comfy - we did not need/want for anything during our stay. We also greatly appreciated the tranquillity of the natural surroundings, which we could explore on our own, or simply leisure in from the comfortable deck chairs. Shaun and Marji are considerate and very hospitable hosts. We highly recommend this delightful hideaway spot, without any hesitation!
What an incredible place! The atmosphere is so peaceful, the scenery is from another world. The accommodation (safari tents) is fully equipped and very comfortable. We had no problems with anything. Definitely worth it to just break away for a weekend or even longer and catch your breath from the city. The ideal place for fishing, reading, photography (incredibly interesting birdlife), and most importantly, rest! We will definitely return here.
We enjoyed our stay in the safari tent a lot. The area is beautiful and the accommodation is extremely comfortable. I'd prefer a bigger fridge, especially for families that stay for 5 nights.
Dis so rustig en mooi hier. Dié plek as jy net wil gaan 'unwind' vir 'n naweek of selfs langer.
Shaun and his wife who run the place are helpful and friendly. The service is good and the place is clean. Fireplace and wood for fire is free and a winner. Take a round two-prong adapter for the hairdryer and the fridge has enough cooling space for a long weekend. The road there should preferably be approached from Stofberg's side because the alternative 25 km dirt road to Dullstroom is not built for night driving or low luxury vehicles but is quite drivable if one is not in a hurry.
The house simply relaxes you. It is so spacious and nice and the surroundings and view so calming. We were ten people and enjoyed the house incredibly, especially the porch.
Everything about the stay was more than we expected. The food is fantastic and the management friendly. This is a place to visit again. I just won't hit the road with a regular sedan.
We had a very nice New Year's weekend, with the best host and hostess! Very romantic log cabin, with the sound of waterfalls at night. Great fishing opportunity, with a lovely restaurant!
The country lodge worked perfectly for our 9-person group. It is a great place for relaxing, catching trout, walking and enjoying a delicious meal.
Surrounded by beautiful scenery. Amenities basic, but adequate. It's a bit of a dirt road to get there, but very nice and quiet: away from all the hustle and bustle.
Good location, close enough to Gauteng for a weekend getaway. Friendly staff, very helpful with any requests.
Everything was fantastic and in place. The meals are from the top shelves, Josef, the chef, really knows what he is doing and value for money with the five-course meal. Security: There is no one at the "boom" gate where you enter and it is at the tents. This is already a problem, otherwise it has been great and peaceful.
Peaceful atmosphere with beautiful surroundings. Reception and service were very friendly. The restaurant's food was something to look forward to. Only bad part was the cleaners who didn't do their job.
From arrival to departure, I am always surprised by the quality of the facilities, the friendliness of the staff and the very good food. You just don't find such lovely places to rest anymore. This really is a gem and I would highly recommend it.
I would have just put a drawer in the room where you can unpack your clothes.
Valley of the Rainbow will be highly sought after by trout anglers. Also pleasant cycling place.
Fantastic environment. Very nice bed and food!
The reception was warm and immediately felt at home. The attention we received from the host and hostess during our stay was not overwhelming, just enough to make us feel right at home. The premises are particularly well maintained and the host and hostess pay a lot of attention to detail. We had one breakfast and one dinner at the lodge and both were of a high standard. We stayed in tent no. 5 stayed, slept very well with all the nature sounds at night. The tent was serviced daily and Sarah did a very good job, and was always very friendly with us. If I may make a suggestion, the bushes in front of the deck are getting a bit high and obstructing one's view of the pond and towards the field. It would be nice if the bushes could be trimmed a bit to improve the view. Spent a lovely 5 days, very relaxed, walked a lot, batteries are well charged.
Very nice stay. Staff friendly and speak Afrikaans.
We really enjoyed the stay at Valley of the Rainbow Estate in tent no.4 with a beautiful view and location. The shortest route to Dullstroom should be avoided if it is raining and the road is wet if you do not have and cannot use a 4x4 vehicle.
The host and hostess are 2 wonderful young people who go out of their way to make you feel at home. Just be careful on the very bad road between Groblersdal and Stofberg.
We had very bad rain and hail and because of that we couldn't take the shorter road to Dullstroom. We had to drive through Belfast. There's no cellphone reception on the property. The staff's not available 24/7. On the Saturday evening our geyser didn't work and we couldn't find anyone to assist us. We were just glad that we didn't have an even bigger emergency. The kitchen is small, but has everything you need. No cupboard in the kitchen, just one big plastic container to protect your dry food against mice.
Cabin was great. Private and quiet in the bush. I didn't realise it's 21 km of bad road, or 60 km of detour to Dullstroom. I'd definitely recommend it as a fishing destination.
Would still recommend that the vegetation in front of No. 5 be checked as it obstructs the view.
This is a very nice lodge and well worth a stay if visiting the area. The accommodation has plenty of space and is very well-equipped. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be visiting again.
It's a beautiful large 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom home. Beautiful view from the porch with a pond close to the house for rowing or fishing. There is so much to do: jogging, cycling, walking, rowing, fishing, a large lawn for children and the children could go up the road and play in the river. Extra bonus was that there was no cell phone reception at home! I would definitely recommend anyone to relax there!
The GPS coordinates just didn't work, we used two appliances. Other than that the weekend was breathtakingly beautiful and the service super quick with friendly staff.
Beautiful farm, large ponds and soft green lawns. Nice hiking trails. Staff really went out of their way to make our stay there enjoyable. The managers even came to our tent house through a heavy storm to ask if we wanted to move to a room in the mansion instead, as she was worried that our baby might be afraid of the weather. We were very happy in the tent house, so didn't move, but were very impressed, especially since the mansion doesn't really allow small children! Will definitely go again!
Lovely view, tent with everything needed (and promised). Friendly management and employees. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away!
My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to Valley of the Rainbow Estate. Jinne this is the most fantastic place with the friendliest people! I thought it would be boring for our 4 year old boy, but he enjoyed it almost more than we did. It was damn good! We had a great time relaxing, the tents are very well equipped - service was excellent, we were very warmly received!
Would recommend the place anytime.
Unbelievably beautiful and neat.
I'd recommend Valley of the Rainbow to anyone who needs a break from the hustle and bustle. Great!
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Valley of the Rainbow is the place to be! The fact that we had no signal did wonders for our soul! I would recommend them to anyone at any time to go to them! It's value for money and you walk out refreshed and looking forward to the new week! Shaun and Margie, thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality and thank you for making us feel right at home. The tented chalets were clean and we had the most beautiful sunrise every morning. Thank you very much again.
Fantastic area, tented chalets are definitely worth while if you like the outdoors and nature. Trout fishing in the dams were a challenge, but we enjoyed it a lot. Will definitely stay there again.
Fantastic weekend away. The room was spacious, very clean and well maintained. The meals are highly recommended, delicious French cuisine from the top shelves. Shaun and Marjie made our stay very special with their personal attention. We had a lovely walk in the area on their very well marked walking trails. Picnic under the trees next to the trout ponds, with the river behind us was also very special. A wonderful place to get calm and quiet.
What a beautiful place! The neatly cut lawns made it lovely for us to walk barefoot and sit quietly along the dam wall and look out at the beautiful surrounding mountains and take in nature! The log houses exceeded our expectations! The pictures are a reflection of what it actually looks like and more! Shaun and Marjolein were wonderful hosts and we felt immediately welcome. Wood is provided for the fireplace, but suggest you bring firelighters to get the fire going. We will definitely stay in the log cabins again and highly recommend Rainbow Valley to family and friends!
Worth it. Excellent accommodation. The food at the restaurant was outstanding. Just want to commend Shaun and his wife on the neatness of overthing and the service was brilliant.
Could rest and relax. Food was good and great value for money. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Helpful and friendly host and hostess.
We really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and it's just like the description. Will visit again.
Thanks to Riana, Janneman (managers) and Joseph (chef) for their hospitality and wonderful food (breakfast and 5-course dinner). We stayed in one of the Log Cabins (No.2) and it was fantastic. The view, fireplace, bath, gas braai and well-equipped kitchen made it a memorable weekend. The Log Cabins is away from the other units, which makes it perfect for a private romantic weekend getaway. We also enjoyed the walking paths, trout dams, watermill (with wonderful history) and the nearby waterfall. Please drive with a sedan that at least has a reasonable ground height, in wet weather the gravel from Stofberg's side is accessible with a sedan if you drive carefully and in day time.
.We had a great stay. Neat, clean and well equipped. Stunning place to just relax at. Thank you, we will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful few days at Valley of the Rainbow, everything one needs and more. Truly food for your soul. I would like to suggest that the fridge in the tents should be more efficient, it's summer and hot and you definitely need your food to stay cold and fresh. Thank you for a lovely few days, my boy thought it was heaven on earth.
Excellent view from log cabin along the river. Everything is in excellent condition. Delicious food, and the host and hostess are very helpful and friendly.
We really enjoyed our stay. Breathtakingly beautiful view from our deck at the tents. Very relaxing and peaceful. Lots to do and ideal for nature lovers.
We spent a weekend in Log Cabin nr 2. All cabins are on the river and very private. The unit was immaculately clean and had everything needed for self-catering purposes and ample wood for the fireplace. In winter, take along a small heater for the morning if you don't want to light the fireplace as it gets quite cold. The location is great for privacy; however if you intend to go to Dullstroom be prepared for a 45 minute drive; the drive in itself is quite nice so it didn't bother us at all. There is no cell phone reception in the unit; again this didn't bother us as it gave us a break from technology; there is cell phone reception at the entrance of the lodge though if needed. It was a really good weekend away.
Our stay in Valley's Country House was an unforgettable experience for both young and old. The house is big and comfortable, with a huge patio! In the morning the whole family met like dassies in the sun with a coffee. The adventurous ones could go hiking, fishing and horse riding - while the lazy ones could only enjoy the silence and wonderful scenery. Shaun and Marjolein's sincere kindness and helpfulness are exceptional! Nothing is too much trouble for them and Shaun will always be our "knight on the white horse"! Breakfast at the Manor House is recommended!
Very beautiful area, enjoyed the fly-fishing. Very neat accommodation which is cleaned daily. We ate in the Manor House and the food was 5 star. Already looking at our next visit there.
It's really a wonderful place! We stayed in the tented chalets and it was really great if you're looking for something similar to camping. The location was a bit misleading since it's an hour from Dullstroom. Would've liked to have a sink in the kitchenette, and a fan. But I'm just being picky. It was definitely worth it and I will go back anytime!
What a wonderful place in the mountains. Neat accommodation, they pay attention to details in the tented accommodation where we stayed. We stressed a bit when we read the reviews about the gravel road, but we didn't have any problems with the Stofberg gravel road even though we use my Peogeot 308 with low ground clearence, I'm not sure if that would have been the case if the road was wet. You just have to drive slowly and carefully. Was a wonderful weekend away from the city. No cellphone reception on the farm, but it was perfect for us. Warm reception and Shaun made us sure we were comfortable. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the few days and rested well. We wanted to spend more time in Dullstroom but getting there by a reasonable road is quite far. The short way is 25 km but not recommended. If you want to rest and relax make sure to stay at the resort.
Friendly and hospitable management.

The surroundings are picture-perfect. We had an incredible weekend. Top notch food! Many thanks also to Janneman and Riana for your hospitality. You made our wedding anniversary weekend even more special!
Dear Janneman and Riana, I just wanted to thank you for your hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and will definitely be back in the future. I just wanted to point out a few things, if they could be looked at before the next guests. The toilet was leaking at the back (damaging the wood and wasting water) in the unit. The basin is not properly fixed to the wall which caused spills and is damaging the wall and wooden flooring. Linens, there was a cigarette burn mark through the flat sheet and other marks. Those are just a few things that need to be seen to. I must commend your facilities on the cleanliness and the state of your dams. We are an avid fisher people and we loved being able to fish at all four dams with ease in terms of casting and accessibility. We accessed the estate in a Ford Figo and no issues at all as the roads as the farm road is well maintained. Once again, thank you for sharing your beautiful facilities with us!
We would most certainly recommend Valley of the Rainbow and LekkeSlaap in the future.
The service was great, the accommodation was neat, clean and very comfortable! Although it was bitterly cold outside, we slept soundly in our tent accommodation. The scenery was beautiful and we arrived at one of the ponds. All you heard was the wind in the evenings and the birds in the mornings. Will definitely check in there again!
The owners were fantastic and so friendly and helpful, even the lady who came to clean our unit. I personally would just like to choose from a menu at the restaurant itself, not everyone eats the food that is prepared and feels that the food is wasted. I would recommend this as a break for a couple without kids, there are no activities for the kids, a pool on site might be a change.
We were looking for a getaway spot and the reviews for Valley of the Rainbow Estate and the affordability convinced us to make the booking. The service is excellent - thanks to the two Potchefstroom students! The meals prepared there is top notch! The manor house where we stayed is extremely neat. As is the surrounding accommodation facilities around the trout dams. We aren't fishermen, but we can really recommend this place to friends. The scenic beauty of the area is a relief for the soul.
We had a wonderful weekend. The tented chalet was warm and comfortable with a gorgeous view of a dam in front. The fishing was great. We had a delicious dinner in the restuarant. We are looking forward to going again.
It was delicious and we had a great stay!! Everything beautiful and clean. The log cabin is beautiful.
We enjoyed the peace and safety and the Cabin is well equipped, tidy and the clean white linen was a winner! Janneman and Riana made us feel very much at home. We will definitely go back again!
See the stars.

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The tents are of 4-star quality for sure! What a fantastic weekend! The silence and fresh air are fantastic. Service and food are fantastic. The place to be if you want quiet and peace.
A very beautiful and peaceful place.
Our weekend was very peaceful and much better than we expected. We definitely relaxed and will definitely stay there again.
Just one problem with this place - time goes by too fast! Suggestion: a fan in the tent and to move the light on the veranda to the side - summer nights attract a lot of insects and it is right above the area where one socialises.
Service was excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Really welcoming. Joseph outdid himself with the delicious dishes that were served. The environment was peaceful with beautiful natural scenery. Tried fly-fishing for the first time! What a lovely experience. Thanks so much to Nicolene and Elsabe, as well as Lukas ─ you're all stars! Our stay was even more special thanks to your selfless servitude.
We want to steal the chef! Very beautiful natural surroundings. Log Cabins were perfectly equipped.
Lovely place. Quiet with friendly staff.
Absolutely loved the stunning views, fly fishing, friendly people and quietness. The dirt road is really not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. You can just take the entrance from Stoffberg. Will definitely go again!
Beautiful accommodation and venue.
We enjoyed the stay and the service was excellent. The house was neat and clean and to be in nature was unbelievable! Reception and the bar area wasn't always open and we couldn't find anybody to unlock for us to enjoy a drink or order food at the restaurant. No signal in the area. The road from the Valley to Dullstroom is only for 4x4/4x2 vehicles. We didn't know before hand that the road is not suitable for a sedan.
We really enjoyed the food and we were able to rest properly. Will definitely be back.
Very nice time spent by the dams. The 5-course meal is definitely worth it and the "log cabins" are very beautiful! The dirt road to Dullstroom is now not for any car, but at least a nice "scenic" route.
Very clean and tidy, very friendly staff. Will definitely visit there again!
See the stars.
A wonderful getaway opportunity far away from the city's hustle and bustle. We had a wonderful rest, your bedding is fantastic and our place of residence was well equipped. Christelle welcomed us with open arms and spoiled us all weekend long.
Geen selfoonontvangs nie, wat luuks was! Baie rustig en pragtige natuurskoon. Alles wat mens wil hê vir 'n wegbreeknaweek.
We were impressed with the log cabin. Would highly recommend Valley of the Rainbow!
Although the entire resort was full, it still didn't feel like you were at a resort. If you want to spend quality time this is the place to be. There was not an influx of people and the workers were so nice and helpful. Their food was delicious and the love put into it is clearly visible. Many thanks to the people of Valley of the Rainbow for a fantastic long weekend.
The perfect getaway. We stayed in one of the tents, the view over the dam and valley is truly beautiful. I would recommend Valley of the Rainbow to everyone. The service was fantastic. See you again soon.
Very romantic! If you love nature, this is the place for you. The scenery is fantastic. The houses are well equipped.
With a sedan car it was further from Dullstroom than expected. The directions through Belfast were confusing, but once we were back on the R33 the directions were good. We had a great stay and the chalets are very comfortable.
Nice, but I would have liked to have a brocechure in the room to tell me more about the place.
The accommodation was fantastic, however, the road from Dullstroom to the Lodge was terrible. It took me an hour to travel 23 km. If you visit this place use the Stofberg Road.
It's a very nice place but we felt very unwelcome with our two children (3 and 5). The road there can be quite badly washed out when it rains.
I won't know how it is there or looks like because the road is just too bad to use. I wouldn't even recommend the road for a van.
The tent cabins have all the basic necessities, but what makes them so special is the wooden deck with an incredible view of the pond. It is among the trees. No cell phone reception on the farm. You have to drive about 2 km out. Lovely picnic areas by the dams.
Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend. It was incredibly peaceful, what a beautiful view and a nice neat place! Thank you very much for the friendly reception and all the help with directions, a barbecue grill (which we forgot) etc. We enjoyed it very much.
Very pleasant. The meals were delicious. The environment is particularly beautiful and unique.
The hospitality, service and food were five star and we would definitely recommend it. We were received with such hospitality. The accommodation is top quality and we felt so special. The food was excellent and of five star quality. There was so much effort put into everything and the service was fantastic. It was truly a fantastic experience that we would recommend anytime.
Great service and beautiful facilities. Will definitely become a regular visitor.
Stay very comfortable, environment is breathtaking, service is excellent and very friendly.
We stayed in a log cabin and its was everything we had hoped for and more. The Owners of the estate were extremely friendly and more than willing to accommodate our requests. The cabins give you sufficient privacy and the view of the trees made it a very stress relieving trip. The road is not as bad as previous reviews have stated, but must be taken from Stofberg and not Dullstroom.
The extremely fully equipped kitchen makes the stay in tents just more comfortable! Fishing on moonlit nights creates truly precious memories! Thank you very much!
Valley of the Rainbow was a fantastic getaway. It's picture perfect and the owners pretty much carry you on their hands! We would go back again anytime.
Nice break away. Very good service.
We stayed in the tents. Remember firewood as the black wattle provided is not great. Fly fishing for trout is not suitable for summer as the ponds are shallow and therefore warm and full of grass, but I am sure this is not the case in winter.
The reception was good. Everything is peaceful, the food was excellent and the nature beautiful.
I can't thank our hosts, Claudie and Pieter, more for their amazing hospitality though out our four day trip and of course their assistance when our car broke. Not only did they call us a mechanic but helped distract us from all the stress! We stayed in both the tents and the chalet and can recommend them both very highly and the food: Wow! The food is just out of this world! We went there to rest and catch our breaths. At the Valley of the Rainbow Estate and we were able to do that and more! Really recommend this place and can't wait to return.
It was an unforgettable experience.
The place is breathtakingly beautiful, especially the dams, and is very neat and safe. I would recommend that they order a bigger fridge as you are very far from shops. Would also like more information about their meals that they offer and would make it clear how far you are from Dulstroom. The dirt road between the accommodation and Dulstroom is not pleasant at all and will not be able to be driven without an SUV.
Valley of the Rainbow is a beautiful retreat in the heart of the forest away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Beautiful gardens and excellent food. Service was great.
However, the ponds were unfortunately full of grass which made catching trout difficult. Furthermore, it is a great place to visit.
Beautiful place. Beautiful people. Heaven on earth! Very modern and comfortable.
Really a lovely place if you are looking for peace and quiet. A fisherman's dream and the service is great. The food is excellent. Definitely value for money.
Everyone very friendly. It's very neat, the food is delicious and they put a LOT of effort into making everything nice for you, it's a beautiful place, we'll definitely go back and highly recommend it!
The road there was not too good.
Accommodation is fantastic. The ponds are clean and the grass around is golf course quality.
Pieter and Claudie made sure that our stay was wonderful. The food was excellent and the surrounding scenery is exceptional. The accommodation with food included is really very good value for money. The dirt road is not in very good condition, rather drive with a 4x4 vehicle.
Excellent guest house, host and hostess unbeatable and not to mention the delicious meals, would certainly recommend as a peaceful getaway for a week or long weekend.
We visited Valley of Rainbow on the weekend of 3rd August for a romantic getaway and it was absolutely excellent value for money! The couple who run the estate are lovely and very hospitable, they automatically make you feel at home! The food is top notch and the rooms are beautifully luxurious and spacious. Even though we are not fishermen there was still more than enough to keep us busy such as going for a walk on the hiking trails and visiting Dullstroom. Just make sure to drive a van or a 4x4 as the road is a bit bad.
Really beautiful. The tents are comfortable and private. The reception is very friendly and helpful.
Tent accommodation is old and neglected with vegetation in front obstructing the view. The main building and gardens are beautiful.
Good value for money.
Had a good stay at a value for money estate.
Clean and tidy! The weather was unpleasant, but we still managed to catch more than 30 black bass in Dam 4. The access roads are in a very bad condition.
A beautiful venue with fantastic hosts! Enjoyed every moment. Thank you!
We decided at the last minute for a romantic getaway, Valley of the Rainbow is very secluded and it's so peaceful there. The surroundings were very beautiful, especially with the trout ponds and the neat gardens. The management couple were very friendly, hospitable and helpful. The food was delicious. I feel that the bedrooms could be updated a bit with new curtains and new decor, it already looks old, the lamps next to the bed were both already broken and fixed with superglue....it looks "tacky" Rooms were clean and tidy.
Nice experience, we enjoyed to stay here.
