Beds were comfortable, owners very hospitable. We broke a glass and forgot to mention this on leaving. Please ask if there is a settlement fee.
The unit was very well equipped with all kinds of necessities. The view from the veranda to the mountain is beautiful and in the evenings the sunsets were unbeatable. Even the misty mornings and evenings had their charm. The owners' concern and friendliness with guests was evident and the little treats were much appreciated. It was lovely to be able to switch off for just a few days in such beautiful surroundings.

We stayed in the place during the severe storm from 23-25 September 2023. The house was abundantly equipped: we couldn't even use half of the firewood! Delicious fresh home-baked bread, rusks and fresh fruit. All kinds of tea. Close enough to Heidelberg to be able to attend the excellent Hessequa Harmonie festival. Good dirt road (± 4 km) despite the torrential rain. Cuddly warm. Covered barbecue area.

Was disappointed that we weren't able to use the indoor fireplace as advertised. I believe there were bees in the chimney. However the hosts were lovely, warm people who included lots of little extras such as butter, jam, grated cheese and fruit.
Grass swaying in the wind, swallows charmingly sailing through the air - here is a place where one can rest! The cottage is well equipped and offers beautiful views of the mountains and over the valley. The owners are very helpful and there are so many small ways they make you feel welcome and at home. We had a wonderful stay!

Peaceful atmosphere with the breathtaking valleys as a view. Unit is equipped to the finest detail, everything you might need and more! Was very spoiled with fresh baked goods, fruit and fresh milk in the fridge. Really value for your money and mind! Will have to look far to experience such hospitality elsewhere.

The hosts are incredibly hospitable and arrived to greet us with home-baked muffins. The cottage is extremely well-stocked and has everything you could need when going away, very well thought out. The view from the porch is also very beautiful. A great location if you are just looking to unplug for a few days.

Lovely peaceful spot with large view and friendly caretaker. Just wouldn't recommend taking your pets. Ours picked up several hundred a day in peak summer season. Also would have liked a map of the walking trails.
Very cute cottage. Unfortunately, there were many cobwebs on the walls and the roof. The water pump for the hot water also did not work. We couldn't shower on our last day, but. It was still a nice place to sleep over. Beautiful view of the valley! Thank you very much.
The house is very well equipped and everything is clean and tidy. We received extras like wood, milk, fruit and muffins. We didn't expect that. The view is also particularly beautiful.
The peasant hospitality of the Tharien people together with a view of the Langeberge was simply amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer, especially for more muffins and pancakes.

No amount of money can buy the peace and tranquility that one experiences on the farm.
House very cuddly. Inner fire deer's pipe was closed and you couldn't make a fire in the house. It was closed outside with a bag. Suitable place for getaway with animal friends. Our three dogs thoroughly enjoyed it.

Once again, a peaceful, quiet experience away from it all. The gallery unit is well equipped and served all our self-catering needs. The additional furniture added since our last visit is well suited. The double bed will have to be replaced though, as the spring mechanism does not allow for a peaceful night's rest, even with the slightest movement. We eventually put the mattress on the floor.
Beautiful view over Grootvadersbos. Convenient and safe. Unfortunately, the back porch was not cleaned. We chose a place because of the fireplace but couldn't use it - smoke in the room.
The house is well equipped with everything you need. Everything was clean and neat. No complaints, thank you for a nice stay.

This is truly an experience that I will never forget and one that I hope to repeat again soon. The cottage we stayed in is a well-kept place and met all our needs. Truly something special. Thanks to Elmien who made every moment enjoyable and made us feel special. If you are looking for a piece of heaven on earth, feel free to stay here. I would like to use the fireplace inside to make it even better.
It was a wonderful farm with a very friendly and helpful hostess. We and our dogs will definitely want to visit again! The landscape and surroundings are super special! We walked a lot and rested wonderfully. We stayed in the unit attached to the house. It was not fully equipped for self-catering, but Elmien soon brought a kettle when we asked and we managed well as we brought cooked food with us. (No bread plate, bread knife, small plates, etc.) It was wonderfully spacious, with lovely views and quite private (we could hear the owners very clearly in our rooms in the early evening, but only 2 times.) We were, however, completely out of sight of the home. I think the cottages will definitely be nicer to stay in and maybe more fully equipped. We can't wait to visit again.

Comfortable accommodation. Beautiful scenery and the perfect weekend break to recharge the batteries.
It is near Grootvadersbosch and I wanted to visit it. I think it is 'n bit expensive. There was not water on Saturday morning but luckily other accommodation. The soup and rusks that we received were very welcome.

Ek het die eienaars baie beleefd ervaar. Die huis is oop en vrolik. Dit is 'n pragtige plaas en ligging. Die pad is ook heel goed, al is dit jammer die teer kom nie tot by die huis nie. Die ontbyt was so lekker. Ek sal môre weer daar gaan bly as ek kan.

The accommodation is very neat and personal. It has everything you need. The view is very beautiful and the houses are such that you can stay comfortably but still know that you are staying in a farmhouse full of character.
The perfect location, views, quiet, value for money, farm breakfasts to dream of combined with unadorned hospitality from the host and wife as the 'icing on the cake'. It made for an unforgettable long weekend getaway! We come again!
I think the R322 between Heidelberg and Suurbraak is my new favorite area in the nearby Southern Cape. The view from Valley's End to the Grootvadersbosch native forest against the mountains is exceptional. The green hills with Nguni cattle in the distance remind one of the Natal Midlands. You can just stare into the distance and you just relax to the core. The warm, hospitable reception by Pieter and Tharien on the farm makes an overnight stay at Valley's End extra nice. Already recommended to the family!
A great destination with an exceptionally perfect hostess who prepared everything for us in the finest detail and with taste... You just wanted to stay longer and rest. Ten out of ten!
We were very hospitably received and accommodated in an apartment attached to the main house! Even load shedding did not spoil the visit. Unexpected "scons" on Sunday morning, and a sweet treat for our grandchildren made the visit worthwhile.
This is the ideal venue for unwinding and enjoying the scenic views. The cottage is adequately equipped for self-catering and the complimentary items - of which there are plenty - adds to the comfort of one's stay. The owners' hospitality and teatime surprise are appreciated.
The unit is well equipped and it is very peaceful and quiet. Only one thing that bothered us: Only after we asked about the TV we were told that the TV broke a day or 2 back and all the shops were closed over the Christmas period to repair it. But the tranquility was welcome!
