Debora and her team were great.
We had a lovely stay. It is a beautiful setting. Lovely to sit at the Plaasstal and have coffee. Close to the beach but more protected from the wind.
It was a nice relaxing visit for our group in the beautiful surroundings, with a lovely playground for our boy. The breakfast is out of the book! Our hostess was friendly and helpful. Thank you very much.
We had a wonderful time at Vensterklip. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making our stay wonderful and special.
Stay was lovely and staff very helpful.
Peaceful and beautiful.
Had a great time. Will go there again for sure.
There was a problem with our sleeping unit's toilet. They upgraded us to a bigger cottage. It was more spacious and had a beautiful stoep.
Have not been to this area in a long time and the estuary is a beautiful area. We enjoyed our stay but I cannot understand why they gave us camping 5 which had a lot of sand and left the fully grassed campsite 3 empty?? I think this venue has great potential and needs a bit more attention to detail and investment to make it 5 star. I enjoyed the private bathrooms and the staff were very friendly.
The unit is nice and spacious. We really enjoyed the historical character.
Stay was fine but if you say 'sleeps 3' in your ad you should make it clear that the single and double bed are in one room with the kitchen/dining facilities. I was in a hurry when I booked. not everyone has time to phone aound to make sure of the fine details. So better to be much clearer to start with. The people at Vensterklip could not have been more helpful.
Bed and linen are of high quality. Although the kitchen equipment is good (we really only made coffee), the maintenance is poor. The only mirror is as big as my hand, and fixed against the bathroom wall. No security, so one dare not open the window. Close to the main road. No TV, Internet or WiFi.
Shower has no water pressure and is breaking out of the wall. "Braai with a garden view" is a detached braai in the dusty parking area. WiFi does not reach the rooms. Staff are aware of this, but just shrug their shoulders. Restaurant and bar hours are not as advertised. Play castle for children is sometimes open, sometimes not (on a Saturday, quite). Access to the marsh has not had any maintenance in years. Photo of kayaks on the fly river is misleading. Pool water is cloudy and dirty. Area around the pool is sprinkled with bird droppings.
We were not aware that Vensterklip is on a farm outside Elandsbaai, this caught us off guard as we would have liked to stay closer to the sea or in town. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash all day. This is very uncomfortable and was not communicated to us in advance. The pool was creepy green, grass is long and there are an awful lot of gnats and mosquitoes. Fensterklip is a comfortable overnight accommodation for 1 night. I would not recommend Fensterklip as a holiday resort.
The accommodation was average. Because these are private campsites, it is nice to have private kitchen and toilet facilities. After all, it's not very clean. Customer service could also be better.
Oven didn't work, fridge didn't work, water tasted terrible and made someone sick (no one told us if drinkable or not), WiFi goes off during load shedding, no 'Eskom lights', very dirty.
Wonderful place. Can plant more trees for shade.
It was lovely and very peaceful.
I would definitely like to stay at Vensterklip again and bring my family for a quiet holiday and visit the restaurant.
Vensterklip was, to our group, experiencing the warmth, hospitality, personal care and unpretentious creativity of the people on the West Coast, particularly Elands Bay. The artistic interior decorating and attention to detail created a wonderful ambiance which was hard to extract ourselves from when we had to leave. We highly recommend Vensterklip to anyone longing to escape for a while from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The month of April was a bit windy to camp alone with a tent, but otherwise we really enjoyed it.
It had been very peaceful, it felt like a visit to the farm.
We only stayed overnight and time was limited to enjoy the surroundings.
It was so beautiful and just so peaceful. Could have had better reception, but also understandable because of the venue.
Upstairs clean, and tidy. Places need attention. The mosquito net above the bed is too small and does not cover the entire bed once you are in bed. The place has so much potential - it's a shame it's so neglected, and underutilized. I realize it's right next to a wetland, and no one has control over the insects - but serious consideration could be given to installing insect screens in front of the door and windows. The bathroom window does not seal, and luckily we closed the bathroom door during the night. It sounded like there was a swarm of bees and the insects pretty much covered the entire bathroom - some dead, some alive, the next morning. We had to flush the shower before we could shower.
TV and WiFi shortage.
Trouble with WiFi, this is additional cost and not included in accommodation. Think Ventersklip is a bit overrated, restaurant not so great.
Basic accommodation, quite clean. Don't go camping at Vensterklip unless you really don't have any money or do not know where else to go. The restaurant after 17:00 is not open even if advertised. Reception is not very friendly. Chalets could do with an upgrade, especially the bathrooms. .
The location was very good, nice and close to the sea. But the facilities are not great. We had no bowls to put food in, only two small pots. We had to ask for more bowls and a pan for eggs. There are an incredible amount of mosquitoes and bugs, so we couldn't leave the house to sit outside. We had to stay inside all day, if we didn't drive somewhere. The air conditioner was very nice, but only one mosquito net for 3 beds doesn't work either. The toilet leaked, they fixed it, but it started leaking again. The fridge's rubber seal doesn't, so it keeps opening. The shower has no water pressure, and it is very difficult to control hot and cold. I would recommend it for 1 night's sleep maybe, but no more. We slept 3 nights and it was 2 days too much.
The "receptionist" could not understand English or Afrikaans. There was no water pressure and it was very difficult to shower or wash dishes. House was dusty, especially the curtains.
Very hospitable hosts with comfortable fully equipped accommodation. Great little pub where rugby was screened even with load shedding. Had delicious traditional food for Heritage Day! Great stay!
Sorry we can't stay longer. Would love to come back again. Great house and location. Thank you for your attention to detail and kind actions.
Will definitely come back, even though we arrived on a public holiday we received immediate assistance by very professional staff on duty. I was very impressed with accommodation. Pool was clean and sights were quite spectacular.
Clean and tidy. Nice space inside for 3 people.
See stars.
Can't complain, staff extremely helpful. Maybe just been there wrong few days with lots of mosquitos but otherwise good!
If you want and need to get away from the hustle and bustle of people, this is the place.
Additional activities such as bar and food are great.
Staff is very friendly, place is very spacious and tidy. Very nice stay.
WiFi was disappointing, barely worked in the room. Turnover is obviously a pain. Food was very good, although the fish was a bit on the raw side. Nevertheless, very nice stay and would recommend it. Was a very pleasant experience.
We rested and relaxed wonderfully. Would have been perfect if we could use the pool. Unfortunately it was black-green and was only noticed on our 4th of 6-day stay. Disappointing.
There is not much to do at Vensterklip. I would recommend staying on the coast.
Sorry you don't see the hostess at all. Reception impersonal. Everything is neat.
We did not get the unit we booked. WiFi was off more than on.
Didn't find the place that is in the pictures.
Nice campsite with bathroom for each campsite.
We stayed in Robertson Hause. The house is spacious and comfortable. The rooms are so nicely decorated, each with its own neat, clean bathroom. We liked the farm feel and spent the evening after the festival sitting by the large hearth in the open plan kitchen/dining room and chatting. There are many living and entertaining areas on the front porch, in the kitchen, by the fireplace, and in the large living area that overlooks the back garden. We will definitely go again for a longer visit with friends and family!
We checked in early in the evening after the reception office was actually already closed. Elisa received us kindly and upgraded us to a larger and very comfortable house at no further cost. The water in the sink of our booked unit drained too slowly. We had a wonderful stay and were only sorry that our stay was so short. Fensterklip's old buildings, thick walls and giant fireplace transport you to another era and a visit there is truly special. We would definitely like to stay at Vensterklip again and recommend it with great confidence.
All the necessary facilities are there to enjoy a relaxing break.
Enjoyed the visit very much.
On the spur of a Friday night, we decided to travel up the West Coast, because it's flower time! As a result, we quickly looked for an available place and decided on Vensterklip. What a delicious choice! And best of all, upon our arrival the friendly reception moved us up to Scott House (Honeymoon suite) as it was available. There we had a delicious barbecue, visited and slept warm on a four-poster bed. Plekkie is well equipped with everything needed and the quiet farm environment is just what the city soul needs. I would like to stay a week just to go through all the (read) books.
Was the best visit ever! The hospitality of the people was awesome, will definitely visit there again.
The sand at the camp site just needs to be leveled and the embankment need to be sorted out, there was a few loose slabs and someone can get hurt. They maybe need to water the campsites for often as it's very dry. Maybe plant a few trees down the sides of each campsite to create shade as it gets very hot.
The farm setting was wonderful and peaceful.
Had a great time. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean. We were pleasantly surprised with the restaurant, the seafood platter for two was definitely worth it. The staff were friendly and always eager to help.
Our stay was worth the money. The Tin Roof Restaurant there makes delicious food that's well presented. Covid has definitely taken a toll on the upkeep of the campsites. The staff are not knowledgeable about bird watching, which is a pity as this spot can become very busy with birders.
Full of antiques and interesting. Very close to Elands Bay. The restaurant and service and meals are recommended. Fensterklip's accommodation options from rooms to cottages and camping satisfy everyone's needs. Nice in nature.
Well located, nice view and nice stay.
I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here, families, friends or romantic couples. They listened to my every request when making the booking online and they delivered beyond my expectations. Staff are definitely there for you the guest.
Good service and neat accommodation.
Clean room, very friendly people.
Sorry restaurant closed in the afternoon and bar was unmanned. The cottage was truly eclectic and tastefully decorated and was well equipped. Unfortunately smelled a lot of smoke when we arrived due to indoor fire deer but after the doors were left open it was better. Unfortunately, an awful lot of mosquitoes and the mosquito net over the bed had a hole in it. Still very nice stay. The photos on the website do not give a true picture of the place. When we book accommodation we want to see what the bedroom and bathroom look like as well as other facilities available to us. We are not interested in dishes the restaurant served when it was still in operation or what the lake looked like before it dried up.
The shower at number 4 private stand they will just have to look at. Water does not drain away then we have to pump it with a plunger so that water drains away it was not pleasant and the shower head is broken. Other than that, had no problems.
Well located for visiting Lambert Bay and Elands Bay. Neat historic cottage, bathroom just needs some attention. Maybe a new shower head and bigger mirror. Was hard for short person to see in it.
Bad road works at the moment in Elands Bay area, neat rooms, WiFi works okay as mobile signal is weak, the prices here will go up once the road is built.
We were very disappointed to find that the bar and restaurant were closed on arrival. However, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.
Between the bugs, mosquitoes, spiders, midges and chickens, sleep was impossible. Chickens sleep on the porch and crow so that it sounds like they are next to you. The corrugated iron roof sounds like it's hailing through the night like animals running around. Could have been chickens too. No chance to sit outside or even inside the house a. g. v the mosquitoes etc. Facilities close at 5 o'clock. Privacy not guaranteed as 3 windows do not have curtains.
The units do not look like they do on the website. It was also not cleaned properly. The bathroom stank terribly. The wall that separates the units is extremely thin so you hear everything. The facilities of swimming pool are nice and the view is beautiful.
Private and enclosed. Cleanness guaranteed. No sharing of toilets in camp sites. Not overcrowded. Staff is friendly and has warm approach. Management walks out their way to ensure guest are comfortable and feel safe. Everything you need you'll find on the premises in Die Rooi Stoor.
A farm experience near the sea. Accommodation with a farm feeling. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant's food is definitely good quality and value for money. A must visit if visiting the West Coast.
We were at Vensterklip for my 50th birthday. It was a great event. Everything was perfect. Jane went to great lengths to make it as enjoyable as possible for us. Thank you very much Jane. I would also like to say a big thank you to Marius, the cook and Megan! The mutton was very nice and tasty. The chocolate cheesecake was heavenly!
Unit was spacious, clean and tidy. Restaurant and paddock are tops. Rich history. Can't wait for the next visit. Blessings to the Fensterklip team
Fensterklip offers everything you need for a wonderful weekend getaway. "Pelican" is excellently equipped and tidy.
We had a great time on Fensterklip; the accommodation was fantastic and met all our needs. Very good place for family with small children.
Very neat and clean. Have a nice time.
Safe. Friendly staff and owner. Very helpful.
Felt immediately at home, the staff go out of their way to look after your needs. Looks like a happy team!
Venterklip was really off the books, accommodation and price great. Thanks to the staff.
Would recommend to all my friends and family.
Awesome, fantastic.
A gem just this side of Elands Bay. Exceptional pampering experience with high-quality service from the receptionist Elisa, Marius and kitchen staff up to and including the ladies at the Rooi Stoor. For those who need the anointing of the farm atmosphere, an absolute must.
Very nice and would definitely recommend.
The places really surprised us and we will definitely want to be there again and longer.
The flip flop house was very well designed and the restaurant and play area were very comfortable with the children who wanted to play. The farm has been kept in the same family for over 100 years. And the wildlife is very peaceful.
Facilities need a bit of work. Not the worst.
Although Vensterklip was not aware of our booking, they did everything in their power to keep us comfortable and at ease while our room was being prepared. They were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful place.
Very relaxing, lovely area and beautiful buildings.
Vensterklip was a lovely overnight spot well located between Lambertsbaai and Langebaan. Beautiful gardens and rooms and the food was delicious in their restaurant. The restaurant closes at 17:00 during the week. There is a swimming pool and they even have a well equipped paddock. Would recommend window stone. We had a delicious dinner and dessert at the restaurant.
Room was clean and as advertised. One problem (Very strange operating times (cant book in or get food between 17:00 and 18:00). Also no communication that there will be no service after 17:00 on a Saturday. We had dinner at the restaurant on Friday evening (after 18:00) and no mention of no service on Saturday. Communication in general is not very good or clear (Will not recommend or stay there again).
We stayed in the Pelican. Very neat and well equipped. The neighbors are just very close, especially if you both stand outside and barbecue. Very nice environment.
The place is very well located. It's a stone's throw from Elands Bay and close to Lamberts Bay and you can visit the West Coast from here to Saldanha as a base. The location next to the Verlorenvlei although access to the swamp is limited because the swamp is mostly surrounded by private land. Accommodation is neat and clean. The surroundings of the restaurant are beautiful and the paddock is a bonus.
Campsites overlook the river, with each camp nicely demarcated for privacy. Bathrooms were nice and tidy with friendly staff who are happy to help. Swimming pool was welcome for a cool down in the heat of the day. Entire grounds are clean with beautiful water wise gardens.
We arrived late, the security person on duty was kind enough to unlock for us. The room is suitable for 1 night's stay but not for long term. We wanted to have breakfast at the restaurant, but they don't open until 09:00, by which time we were already on our way. The staff were all very friendly.
Fensterklip is a peaceful place, perfect for a quiet getaway. It is a nice place. Neat and friendly service.
We had a pretty nice stay.
Good, tidy accommodation, but sound density of unit was poor and it was disturbing to hear everything next door from other guests.
We loved the size of the cottage. It would be a stunning weekend destination in winter with the beautiful fireplace in the lounge area. I could not comment on the safety of the cottage as there is no cellphone reception and at check in they forgot to give us the WiFi password, so we could not communicate at all. As visitors we did not feel unsafe though. It is close enough to Elands Bay to go and explore and Lamberts Bay is a little further away.
Not what I expected at all. No trash available. Shower is not clean. Shower wall black with algae. Braai facilities insufficient and not appropriate.
I like old things, but please make sure all furniture is safe to sit on and doesn't fall apart, floors need attention where you step through planks. House nice and spacious and otherwise well furnished.
The sand is terribly soft and you can only set up a tent if you can drive in large or deep pegs or pack large stones on the pegs. We had to walk around the tent every late afternoon to put the blown pins back. There is no shade and without a sun reflecting "tarp" the heat would have been unbearable. It's a long way to walk to Vensterklip and not at all recommended for children under twelve. The beach was really nice. Furthermore, there were no activities for small children such as play areas on the premises. The bathing facilities and swimming pool were very welcome and in good condition.
We stayed in Chunky's flat. The photos as advertised are not at all what the apartment looks like inside and out. The room is not soundproof at all, so you can hear every word your neighbors are talking about.
Going on holiday for the first time in four years and already started place is nice but advertising is pathetic. We are fresh water and sea fishermen. We went to fish in the Verlorenvlei and upon arrival I saw the swamp. Where does one get to vlei? No road to the swamp and no fishing in the swamp either, there is no water. Getting red-hot with excitement, someone could just send an email and say there's no fishing in the marsh because of no water. Be aware of it or remove it from your advertising. You have to go into the bathroom with eyes closed in the morning otherwise you will be attacked by swarms of gnats and mosquitoes. It later happened that we packed up 2 days before time and went to camp at another place at Paternoster. Elandsbaai and Vensterklip will never see me, not even if they pay me.
Thanks team at Vensterklip for helping us to make beautiful memories. And to travellers you have to visit Die Rooi Stoor at the venue for nice gifts and mementos. Will definitely come again one day.
Can definitely recommend it.
We were there for business and were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. Friday nights pizza at the restaurant is an absolute must. The rest of the menu also looks good, plenty of variety, but unfortunately we weren't there during the right hours to use it. A warning about the availability of the restaurant during "off" season would be appreciated as we didn't really plan to bring our own food. Furthermore, everything was comfortable, clean, neat and beautiful. Beautiful place and I will go back anytime. For those who travel with children - very cute, safe playground. Our family will have to come back to explore the area and make full use of what Vensterklip offers.
Had a wonderful time. A superb retreat if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Food and hospitality and accommodation was great. The only negative thing we found was that the padstal didn't sell long life or fresh milk. Will definitely return.
Friendly hostess and staff. Beautiful and tidy accommodation. Delicious breakfast and restaurant. It was a wonderful experience and the natural beauty is something to experience.
Experienced the farm again, quiet.
We had a welcome reception. All staff very friendly and helpful. Facilities clean and in working order. Beautiful view over valley, singing birds. Close enough to other towns. Perfect getaway from the city noise.
Al die geriewe wat vakansiegangers nodig het. Dis klein, maar tog genoeg vir 4 mense. Hier kan jy die plaaslewe kom geniet en daar is ook 'n restaurant, bar en swembad op die perseel.
If you miss something in your cottage you can ask and it will be given. Do it before 17:00.
Restaurant (great pizzas in a stunning old stone barn/mill), outdoor swimming pool, indoor games area, bar (very cozy) and a farm store (fresh rooibos) all with an amazing view of the pan and mountains.
The generous spaces and excellent facilities at Robinson House, and the staffs helpful assistance, we're perfect for our Christmas away from home. We enjoyed the short trips into Elands Bay, and glorious walks on the beach.
Although we arrived a little later than expected, we did not wait long for the keys and were kindly welcomed by the owner himself. The cottage was clean and met all our needs. We would stay here again.
Overall, a great stay. It was really hard to find the entrance to reception though.
Nice getaway - quiet and peaceful. One can relax and switch off. Most beautiful nature scenes to see.
Well appointed house with everything you need for a relaxing weekend. The restaurant is just a short walk away if you want to eat out. Nice playground for the children.
The rooms were beautiful, but not well equipped. No bottle opener or braaigrid. There was sand in the bed. The outside area where we sat had bird mess everywhere and they never cleaned it the whole 3 days we were there. The pot and pan came with Jan van Riebeeck to the Cape. The place was quiet and we rarely saw people. It was peaceful, but not enough space to prepare food.
I reviewed this venue some years ago and was struck by its lovely location (next to the Verloerenvlei) and the owners' passion for the hospitality industry and the unique venue they had created. When we arrived this time, there was no-one at reception or anywhere on the site. We called the number on the board at reception and heard it ringing unanswered in the building. After an hour of waiting around, we eventually located our cottage (but not the one we had booked apparently) and the chef, Linda, and one of the housekeepers (who luckily stayed next door to our Flip Flop cottage) made us feel welcome and explained that new owners had taken over since I was last there. Once in the cottage we enjoyed ourselves, but our arrival and waiting in the heat were most unforgettable; especially after a long and enervating day in a motorcycle saddle..
Lovely place, especially for bird watchers too. Well located if you also want to explore the rest of the West Coast. Excellent service from the staff.
We were a family of 5 and the Left Brake Cottage accommodation was beautifully furnished. The staff were friendly and we had a great time relaxing. Definitely worth walking to the Window Stone itself.
It was the best weekend ever, will definitely do it again. And will recommend to others.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything very nice clean and tidy. Nice food too.
Very nice place and very good experience.
Friendly reception, accommodation fully equipped with more than we needed, very clean and tidy. Couldn't ask for anything more.
We were delighted with our 2 night weekend stay at Vensterklip, in the Roberston Cottage. We enjoyed the spotless, tasteful cottage and its interior design, the entire pub, restaurant and cottage area with its old architectural features, large veranda and trees full of weaver bird nests. The view from the cottage onto the garden and vlei was also beautiful. The staff are also so helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our, rather demanding needs - for instance helping us with essentials for a romantic birthday home-cooked dinner. We are hoping to return with a large party and throw a wonderful party here.
We had a great stay and the hospitality and helpfulness was incredible. The only sticking point for us was that the little house flip flop has a fairly busy road in front of it and with a small child who wants to run there is no closed fence and gate that we could close for safety. But other than that the play park and bouncy castle at the restaurant was a big plus and the food was out of the books. 10 out of 10 for Sunday's Eisbein. We will definitely visit again.
Comfortable setup, feel right at home. Jane is an angel. Home's kitchen needs a few knives, bottle opener and spatula, but otherwise perfect and remains delicious. Beautiful furniture and enough comfortable sleeping space. Nice clean and everything works. Nice barbecue outside.
Very quiet and peaceful. Everything is there that one needs.
First impressions upon reception were not overwhelmingly positive, but we were surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of the cottage where we stayed. The second bedroom was a bit cramped. We were surprised by how tastefully Vensterklip transformed an old barn into a restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and good food.
Good but mattresses could improve.
We were kindly received, the place looked exactly like the pictures. Everything we needed was there. I would recommend it as a break away. My children enjoyed the pool very much. Me and my husband appreciated the tranquility itself.
See stars.
Very nice place and beautifully equipped.
House was very clean and tidy. Very good facilities. Friendly service.
Nice place, spacious and clean.
It would be lovely to see water in the ponds.
Very impressed with the space. Very nice place.
