We had a very nice stay. Outside, the sun always turned meaty into biltong, but inside it was cool, thanks to the air conditioner and fans. Even with load shedding, the fans worked and kept things cool. The WiFi was very fast and very nice. Thank you for your hospitality and very friendly service. Will definitely stay here again.

It was easy to find, vehicle parked right in front of the accommodation and it was safe. The hostess is adaptable and helpful. We asked for overnight facilities and got exactly that - arrived late and left early with no problems. The surroundings were dead quiet with no traffic or other noise. Fully equipped for load shedding with air conditioning or fans available, as well as adequate kitchen facilities.

The unit is very well equipped for overnight stays. Hosts Martyn and Sonelle were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, however, the barbecue provided (an old Weber) was very dirty, inside and out. It was clear that it had not been cleaned for a long time with old ash and a grill full of grease. The braai area was also not clean with weeds growing through the stones. The wifi was also not available.

The unit is far back on the plot, namely 63 yards. My wife walks with crutches and the path is too narrow for a person who is disabled and has to get around with a wheelchair or crutches. They do not state that it is not wheelchair friendly otherwise we would have booked elsewhere. This is the 3rd time we have spent the night in Upington. Unfortunately, the other two places, which were excellent, were already fully booked. There are no lights that illuminate the path in the evening except at the door of the unit while the rest of the path is shrouded in darkness. One expects self-catering accommodation to provide at least the basic utensils. We had to eat our porridge from our coffee cups in the morning because there were no porridge plates. We did not barbecue or eat there that evening, but noticed that there were no wine or other drink glasses, except small glasses for presumably a small amount of water. They boast of an award in 2015, but that was 8 years ago. The gate where the vehicles are parked is closed with a lock. We went to eat elsewhere that night and when we got back I locked the gate. There was another vehicle parked at the time. The next morning when we left the other car was already gone and the gate unlocked. They state in the disclaimer that they cannot be held liable for damage suffered by guests if it is the owner's fault. Don't believe it's right. Will clear it up with my lawyer anyway. We rent holiday accommodation ourselves and know what customers want. They only post two photos. It should have caused all the red lights to flash. Sorry, we cannot recommend the place in any way.

I couldn't get the WiFi to work, and when I sent a message it wasn't answered until the next morning, after we had already left. There is a pool but I couldn't see how one gets access. Nothing was said at reception about the pool, even though it was bloody hot.

Clearly part of residence of owner and busy renovating garden, room quite an inconvenient walk from parking.
We were a little disappointed. It was the 4th time we spent the night at Versamelnes and unfortunately it is no longer the same. One gets the impression that the place is not well maintained etc. We have previously had a great time staying there overnight and even on weekends and thus referred a lot of people, but after the past weekend, we will not stay overnight there again.

We were 3 friends from Cape Town and were pleasantly surprised with the stay. Everything one needs, easy to find and friendly service. All we questioned was the bedding, as if it were duvet inners that still had to be covered. And that the living room can do with another light (maybe right above the wall separating the living area and room, so the light can shine after both rooms), it was a bit dark to add my nails for example. Otherwise everything was clean and tidy, very satisfied. Will definitely make use of you again and recommend you.

The place is very basic, but meets the requirements of an overnight facility. The environment can keep you awake with dogs barking all night and there was no hairdryer. Otherwise no complaints.
Clean and tidy inside the house, poorly equipped, 3 chairs at the table for 4 guests, no wine glasses, almost no barbecue facilities, no outside lights where we had to barbecue in the sand.
Although the place was clean and tidy, we could not bathe/shower. The hot water faucet did not work. We had to wash at the sinks. The front door could not lock, only the barred door could lock.

Well equipped self-catering unit for a single person to a family of five.
Excellent, value for money, just what you need for an overnight stay on transit - bed, toilet, shower, small kitchens. The TV is already too much, would rather prefer a reading lamp. Usually we pitch our tent in the Upington area, but will be using Collectables in future.
Second visit, will return again. Will only prefer warmer blankets during wintertime.
Double bed mattress was terrible.
Samelanes is a good place to stay if you just need the basics. We were looking for a bed and a shower for a wedding in Upington and for that it is perfectly adequate. There are no luxuries, but that's why one pays a very reasonable price, so I think it was value for money. Unfortunately we slept too late after the wedding and didn't get out until 10:30 (instead of 10:00) and even with that the owner was accommodating. If I have to stay in Upington again, I will definitely stay there again.
The place was clean and tidy. First I was moved to another unit away from the guest house, then I was awake all night because there were lice in the bed. I had to continue sleeping in the lounge.
We arrived late and the owners made an effort to stay up to receive us. That's rare and there were enough beds for all the family members. The air-conditioning was perfect and the quiet surroundings allowed us to sleep blisfully.

The only issue we had was the home dwellers who have to walk past the unit. There was a comfy patio in front of the unit, but if you have your morning coffee there you can be sure of one of the home dwellers walking past some time. Happened a few times during my stay there.
We had a very nice stay. Our unit was clean and tidy. It was especially nice for us to be able to prepare road food and wash dishes. The facilities were very nice, especially for a last stop before a long outing in the Kgalagadi. We will definitely stay there again on the way.
From the friendly reception to every fine detail, every second was pure enjoyment and pleasure. Everything you need was there and there was plenty of space and storage for your luggage. It's a shame we could only stay there one night.

The owners went out of their way to allow us to barbecue despite the unusual downpour for June. They were ready with advice on the best butchery and ready with a friendly chat too! It's very neat, clean with a stunning bathroom, comfortable beds and free Wi-Fi.

Good value for money and clean. Shower was not nice because hot water that comes and goes and later disappears completely. Beds adequate, but very creaky. Security not bad, but could be improved. Low palisade and wall in front of the house can be easily climbed over.

We stayed at nine other guest houses during our trip through Namaqualand and although Versamelnes's rate was much lower than all the others, they in no way had to settle for any other guest house. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone needing accommodation in Upington.
