24 guests' feedbackWe were moving from Nelspruit Strand. Spent a night there. Was really so peaceful there and beautiful sunset. Children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Will definitely go back with a group of friends and family for a hunting weekend.
We had previously visited the Vetkuil hunters huts as it is a peaceful Karoo environment. However, this time the facilities were dusty, fridges did not work properly and had an unpleasant smell. The water pipes to the cabins are in disrepair and are held together with pieces of inner tube. Shortly after we arrived there, the water pipe outside the water tank burst. I tried to call the owner and his wife on the numbers we had spoken to earlier in the day. The cell phones rang, but there was no answer and no one called back either. I repaired the pipe with a piece of inner tube and wire I found in the field so we have water in our unit. This was a waste of precious time that I would have spent walking in the field. When I was able to go for a walk through the field just before dark, there were drink bottles and cans on which targets had been shot in the field. The gas geyser in our unit also didn't work and cold showers were our foreland. This was an extremely disappointing stay.
Quiet and peaceful accommodation on a farm. Nothing fancy, but well equipped for an overnight stay. Delicious barbecue packs available.

Those are not luxurious but they are the way we like them. Hot water, fireplace and a warm clean bed is all we need.
Only stayed one night but was heavenly! Really enjoyed sleeping in the Karoo, service was definitely good and will visit again.
It was clean and tidy. Jus no hot water - maybe there was an issue witht the pump / solar power or something.
Vetkuil is a quiet place where you can relax and unwind.
Very peaceful in nature. We were looking for a place to stay that was pet friendly. We have 2 large dogs who holiday together and Vetkuil was absolutely ideal. The unit has everything you need for an overnight stay and everything was clean and tidy.
Unfortunately we missed the owners.
Please let people know that there is no electricity. Accommodation not suitable for women and children.
The room is so small for 6 people. The water didn't work. There is no electricity. Bedbugs. Because of the water problem the toilet didn't flush. It was the most horrible place I've ever stayed.

Very disappointed. After many hours on the road, you don't feel like trying to get a generator running to have hot water for a shower. The cockroaches are taking over the place, it was in the beds.

Pipe from tank that supplies water disconnects as soon as the pump starts to take a shower. No provision made for non smokers. Do not give fire lighters. Couldn't make any coffee therefore.
The room wasn't particularly tidy and the amenities are sparse, but that probably doesn't bother the typical hunter. What does count in Vetkuil's favor is the incredibly peaceful environment and nature. The longer we were there the better it got. One sees the springbok grazing in the distance from the porch. The owner started the "donkey" for us late in the afternoon so that we could have hot water. In the end it was an interesting experience, but next time I will probably avoid a hunting camp.
Traveled down to the Western Cape and needed an overnight stay for myself, partner and two dogs. Unless you are a hardcore hunter type individual and enjoy roughing it up I would not recommend this establishment. Apart from the peace and quiet of the Great Karoo and a stunning sky full of stars we found the accommodation very raw and rough, with no warm water in the morning for a shower with absolutely no water pressure. We could not wait to move onto our next destination in order to have a few more basic requirements and cleanliness.
It is definitely worth driving the approximately 23 km out of town: away from city noise. One does not know about other people, only about sheep, springboks and owls that call early in the morning. What an experience!
Restful peaceful accommodation away from the city. Will recommend it to friends.
