26 guests' feedbackMy stay was like home from home. The cosy stoep area, the inviting fireplace (I would definitely have used it if it was winter when I travelled!), the comfortable bed and the friendly four-legged greetings made my stay a very relaxed, homely one.

Visit was great, would recommend Tulbagh anytime, Villa Tarentaal is really a weekend break or holiday place to recommend, really enjoyed it.
The house was clean and very basic. No TV unless you bring your own cable and at that price, one would expect a ready to switch on TV.
Shower pressure needs attention as was too weak. Frying pan is needed in the kitchen. Scrubbing brushes needed in the kitchen. The foam sponges provided are not suitable.
The apartment is nice and spacious and has almost everything you need. It's just a shame that it wasn't as clean as one would expect. It needs some renovation.
We had a great night's sleep and the accommodation was conveniently close to our wedding venue. Had a great time. Thank you for the friendly reception at Villa Tarentaal.

Tulbagh had been very hot, like the rest of the Cape.
It is a beautiful area and the owners were very friendly when we arrived. However, we (and they) are hamstrung by stage 6 loadshedding. In Tulbagh, the guy who turns the power back on turns it back on more than an hour late (on average the weekend we were there). So we were without power for 8 out of 12 hours on Saturday. The big problem comes in that Villa Tarentaal has borehole water that works with a pump. So we were also on watershed most of Saturday and all of Sunday (06:00 -10:00 am - check-out time is 10 hours). So all weekend we couldn't shower, couldn't flush toilets, and didn't have water for washing hands (after changing diapers) or washing dishes (although we also couldn't drink coffee or cook or anything because of no power). It was very bad for me and there was no attempt at a bucket for eg toilet flush or sanitizer instead of hand washing. On Friday when we checked in they kindly told us there was a generator, we just had to ask if they should turn it on, but we shouldn't call because there was no signal (I checked - go through to voicemail). We just had to call. We have. A few times. But could not find them. We then fled to civilization on Sunday with dirty bodies and a severe thirst for coffee. It's a shame - because if it wasn't for Eskom's straw, the weekend might have been very nice. There is wifi, but for obvious reasons it was not intended for us to use it.
We had the impression something was not quite right with the septic tank. A funny smell outside our room.
Our family likes a farm atmosphere so the tour of ours was from farm to farm so we specifically had a feeling in mind. Where we can have privacy as a family. The other guests were not what we had in mind.
Separate braai facilities per room and kitchen corner are suggested. Little privacy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Tarentaal. Blue Crane Cottage is well appointed and we were central enough to explore Tulbagh. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace inside the house was wonderfully cozy. I would recommend Villa Tarentaal anytime!
It's a really lovely child friendly place. Lots of activities to do. It's quiet and relaxing if you are traveling without kids. The weather was just very cold, so we couldn't sit outside much. Overall it was a great experience.
It was very nice. Got a chance to rest and experience amazing views.
It has a large jungle gym and grass area, wonderful for the kids.
Definitely going back to explore the farm itself too, just didn't have time for it. The self-catering unit was very well equipped, neat and clean. We asked if we could borrow a rolling pin and they immediately helped us with it.
