We had a very nice stay. The amenities and extras were amazing. There were lots of little extras like the freshly baked bread and sherry provided. The farm feeling with the animals and the incredibly beautiful view was breathtaking. I would recommend the place with much love and joy.
The place was incredibly clean and the bun was a welcome surprise.
We had a really nice stay, would stay here again anytime.
Mr and his 8 friends had a great time.
A peaceful farm experience. Nikki is so nice and hospitable. Heinrich, who works on the farm, was great with our 2 year old boy. We highly recommend it for families with young children.
Absolutely a hidden diamond. Incredibly nice stay. Will definitely go again and again. Thank you very much.
What a gorgeous little cottage on the most beautiful farm. Everything has been done perfectly. I will definitely be back!
Beautiful and fully equipped home.
The place is too beautiful. Calmness. So beautiful with the wheat fields around the houses. Everything is there that is needed and more. Nikki is a wonderful hostess. The home-baked bun was a great treat. Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area. Thank you very much.
The accommodation was perfect, neat as a pin and everything and more (down to toys for the kiddos, books to read, fresh farm bread, jam, butter and a dash of sherry) was provided. We can highly recommend this farm stay! Not too far off the beaten track, yet far enough to have no noise and close enough to the nearest town. Loved, loved, loved it!
Our 2nd stay at Vleidam. Great value for money. Peaceful, unit well-stocked, clean, and maintained. Will visit again.
The unit is very well stocked and maintained. Peaceful setting, just stunning, need to go back.
The little pool was a winner in the heat. The silence was really a bonus and the transaction went smoothly. WiFi was very good.
Great is all I have to say. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Clean and tidy. Hostess very pleasant. Very nice stay.
I had been very curious about Koringberg and district. My wildest expectations were exceeded. Wintertime in the Swartland fills the soul with gratitude. Vleidam is a working farm and yet you can rest 100%. Ask Nikki to take you on a tour and tell you about the town of Koringberg. Vleidam is definitely worth more than just 1 day.
If you like tranquility and a farm atmosphere, this is the ideal place to stay. Christine is the friendliest hostess you can find. The cottage is perfect and we lacked nothing. Nice sitting by the fireplace. There is also nice covered parking. Also a beautiful view of the Swartland. We love animals and really enjoyed the sheep and turkeys on the site. We will definitely come back again.
The setting is breathtaking. We enjoyed waking up to the farm animals and beautiful views. Felt very relaxed.
The guesthouse has everything you need and more. They even left us fresh bread with butter and jam. Cute pool for the summer and fireplace for the winter. Perfect for a nice romantic break with the most beautiful view.
We had a friendly reception. And everything was clean and comfortable. Peaceful atmosphere, good for one's mind. Will go again. Had a great time.
I had a great experience at Vleidam and really appreciated the Loxtons attention to detail fresh bread, milk and braai wood.
Expansive views towards the mountains over a sheep pen with ducks and geese wandering around. Lovely welcome from our host, and we enjoyed the bread and sherry.
Here we left a piece of our hearts behind. Don't stay here just one night, it's definitely a place to catch your breath and recharge. If you maintain a lifestyle at the speed of white light this is the place for you to rest and also close to all the best wine estates. What more could one want now?
We had a great time at Vleidam. Nikki was very hospitable and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The farm is nice and quiet and safe. Nice getaway spot.
From the tranquility and the excellent view, the whole weekend was wonderful. The most delicious bread and jam. Everything you will need and just be calm. I would recommend it to any person.
We had a great time. Just what a city kid needs to unwind! The "pool" was of course a nice treat for the hot days. Will definitely visit Vleidam again.
Very sorry we couldn't stay longer, will definitely visit again for a longer time. The house is really nicely furnished, and the visit in the kitchen around the braai fire was remarkably beautiful. This time of year with the harvest on the land is an experience. The farm sounds and turkeys are something we city dwellers don't hear anymore. Enjoyed the stay very much! Thank you.
Very quiet, tidy and safe. Will recommend.
The homemade bread and jam were a pleasant surprise and we had a lovely time at Vleidam Guest Farm. The view is so beautiful and I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting to stay over on a farm.
We had fun playing the tourist game and taking lots of photographs and making more wonderful happy memories. I tick of our bucket list. Exceptional hosts.
I can't even describe how beautiful and well equipped als was. Nikki is a wonderful hostess. This is the most beautiful farm I have ever been to.
Vleidam is truly the best way I've ever spent money on a weekend away! It is so peaceful, Nikki and her team were very helpful from when we made the booking up until leaving Vleidam. The place and the house are very beautiful and very romantic for a weekend away from the city. Will definitely recommend Vleidam to family and friends and will definitely go there again for a getaway. Best customer service ever! Thanks Nikki, you were excellent! And the farm is just wow! Beautiful!
Do yourself a favor and make sure to spend some time away from your busy life!
A few family members went away this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location is perfect for a restful time away. The view was just spectacular. The place is well kept and even the 6 and 5 year olds were kept busy.
Vleidam a definite re-visit. We relax wonderfully. Had a great time. All we could ask for and more.
We stayed in cottage no.4. The reception was warm and friendly. The freshly baked bun was of course a nice treat. All kinds of cute animals on the farm. We look forward to our next visit!
Niccy and Christine are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. The place was already chilled when I got there, especially on a 46 degree day it was super welcome! Freshly baked bread with delicious jam and butter, on top of the most delicious tea was just what the doctor ordered after a long day in the office. My boyfriend and I will definitely come back and enjoy the beautiful nature and tranquility. Oh yes, and also swimming in our own little pool which is also in front of the porch, private with a view over the fields that one can only dream of! The best service and the neatest place ever in the Swartland! If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out!
Very nice place and good value for money. It's really the ideal place if you like farm life.
The farm and surroundings are so beautiful and peaceful, the service and people friendly, the house is so very well equipped and quite luxurious, and the fresh bread is a bonus. Sitting on the porch, eating bread and drinking coffee while looking out over fields, delicious.
Nice to be in the countryside with farm sounds. Brings one closer to nature again. It was fun to see how the hanslammers drink milk from bottles and to see two newborn goats with their mother.
Our time in Vleidam was special, after a few days our souls were refreshed. The mountains and rural landscape are a delight. The wine estate nearby is off the books and absolutely worth staying on Vleidam.
Vleidam is just a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of the city and within 4 km of the N7, but you feel as if you are far away in the countryside. All necessary facilities and beautiful views add to the charm of this resting place.
What a place to getaway and relax. Views of rolling wheat fields and only a few hours from Cape Town. Very well equipped spacious, you lack for nothing. The fresh bread on arrival was a treat and indicative of the hospitality of the hosts.
The host was incredibly friendly and there when you needed her but gave us complete privacy. She made a special for for our baby in the room which was incredible and we had braai wood and firefighters. Sherry and freshly baked bread and granadilla jam on arrival added such a wonderful personal touch. Our baby loved seeing the friendly cows, goats, sheep, and chickens. And wow - how spotless and tidy the farm was! Out of a magazine! If you are in the Piketberg area, this is the place.
Very welcoming, delicious freshly baked bread, rusks and sherry waiting for us in the kitchen on our arrival. Friendly service, nice patio with barbecue and wood. Picturesque sunsets.
Two nights is just not long enough. Very rarely do we find a place where we think to ourselves, let's never leave. We were welcomed by the gracious owner Nicki who had freshly baked bread, rusks and homemade jam waiting for us on the table. She was so kind, helpful and accommodating that we felt immediately at home. The cottage (Cottage 1) was beautifully appointed and was far larger than we were expecting - thanks in part to the spacious and truly farmhouse-worthy kitchen. The main bedroom was luxurious with rich textures and a fantastic bathroom with a beautiful large shower and the claw-foot bathtub was the cherry on top. However, what is truly magical about this place is what lies outside your front door. If you have children then this needs to be on your bucket list. Our kiddies spent the weekend feeding sheep, ducks, including a family of ducklings who had set up home in our garden and never lost their novelty, chickens, tortoise, turkeys and more. They were in heaven from start to end and this stay was certainly good for all our souls. We have been looking for the perfect farm stay where we can be surrounded by nature, animals and uninterrupted views to the horizon and at last it has been found. Thank you to the owners for sharing your little piece of heaven with the rest of us.
Enjoyed every moment. My little girl enjoyed it terribly with all the animals. Will definitely go again and recommend. Was very relaxing and Nikkie was very special and the history of Vleidam. It was wow!
Nicci was accommodating with our requests and put so much effort. We lived in Cottage 1, wonderful for grandchildren, the space and animals and of course the trains that passed by now and then. We felt so at home. Cottages are so nicely decorated and clean. Nice near Cape Town.
Vleidam is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. The fresh farm bread is a nice treat. Unit 1 and 2 are not detached, and the rooms are only separated by a dry wall. I didn't like listening to the friendly neighbors' children late at night. Perhaps better to travel with your own family and friends. The farm sounds are very wonderful, but with animals, and there are always annoying flies. Fortunately, there were quite a few fly swatters.
Really enjoyed!
Vleidam is a really lovely place to stay. The environment is breathtaking. Aunt Nicki arrived at our place quickly with a freshly baked bread in her hand. We had a great time. The farm is peaceful with nice walks. Definitely a good place for a weekend getaway.
We were warmly received. This is a beautiful place with beautiful people. I will definitely want to stay there again next year.
Vleidam is everything that they said and so much more. You immediately feel at home, as it's your own place. Cottage 1 is stylish and neat with a lovely mixture of old and new that gives it character. The fireplace/braai is in the kitchen is a huge bonus.
Conveniently close to Cape Town, 1 and a half hour drive. Our second time here and definitely not our last.
Accommodation is perfect for 5 people. Everything was very neat and clean. Very friendly reception.
The hospitality was exceptional. We immediately felt at home and enjoyed it immensely. It's definitely a place we will return to. Thank you so much Nikki and John.
Even with the drought in the Western Cape Vleidam's view is perfect to forget the busy Cape Town life.
Very neat self-catering unit with everything you need. The owners are friendly and you can see they go the extra mile to make your stay that much better! It really is a perfect place to go and relax. Go back again to do that 4x4 route!
From the moment you take the turn off to Vleidam, your soul knows this is where I will rest. I was warmly welcomed by Nikki Loxton to make sure we had everything we needed. We needed an ironing board and iron and she arranged it quickly. Upon entering, everything was neat and clean, spacious and everything you need is there and more. I can see that attention was paid to the finer details such as fresh flowers in a small vase. Chocolate on the pillow, warm home-baked bread in the kitchen with homemade jam waiting for you to spread a nice slice and enjoy it. Milk, sugar, tea and ground coffee in the kitchen and filtered water in the fridge. I was sorry that we had such a busy wedding weekend because I wanted to enjoy more of Vleidam. We will definitely return and everyone who is looking for this luxury in a beautiful setting will also visit Vleidam and share our experience with them. Thank you for sharing Vleidam's beauty with us and thank you for all the little extra treats, they really made us feel welcome and special. I enjoyed reading the historical background of Koringberg in the reading material provided.
Everything at this farm is five star. We were pleasantly surprised and the inside braai on the cold evening was such a nice bonus. You'll see me again, definitely!
Very nice and peaceful. The open plains are good for the soul. And the home-baked bread was off the books! Will definitely bring the kids next time.
Warm, home-made bread and coffee after a long day on the road was just what we needed. The sunset with lams and sheep right on your doorstep provided food for the soul while you sit back and relax. What an exceptional experience!
We enjoyed the stay at Vleidam. The hostess made us feel very welcome. We were lucky to give the little lambs milk and enjoyed it a lot. The house was well-equipped and we enjoyed the stay with all of the small details. Would like to spend some more time there.
We would like to thank Nikki for her hospitality in making us feel so welcome. She immediately got the kids to help feed the lambs some milk and they loved it. My husband could go for a nice long walk while grandma and grandpa happily sat on the stoep and enjoyed the view. We will definitely make a turn there again. The house was homely, comfortable and luxurious. The garden and farm camps and farmyard is very neat.
Vleidam was a wonderful destination for us (4 adults and 2 young children). The house had everything we needed. Everyone enjoyed the walks on the farm and to watch the animals. It was very safe for the kids and Nikki's hospitality made us feel like family. Will definitely go back and recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the city's hustle and bustle. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
I spent a wonderful 5 days at Vleidam on my own writing a thesis. The cottage was clean, well equipped with everything I needed and the surroundings a treat for body and soul. I would definitely go back and recommend Vleidam with confidence.
Vleidam really is a place I would recommend to anyone who wants to get away from the bustle of everyday life. It is exceptionally beautiful and one feels part of the farm. We had wonderful evenings under the stars while we had a braai and played games as a family. The decor is very beautiful matches the style and the area. The hostess really thought of everything to make it as comfortable as can be for the guests. We were friendly received with delicious farm bread and also wood for the inside and outside braai, rusks and coffee for every morning - Thank you Nikki, it was wonderful!
We were welcomed warmly. The units are very neat. All the facilities you might need was a surprise. Everything you can think of was in the unit. Very special. Will definitely be back for a visit.
The reception with piping hot baked bread, butter and jam makes it a winner. Coffee, tea and sugar also for use. The nicest I have ever stayed. Will definitely come back again.
Many thanks to Nicci Loxton for her hospitality and warm welcome. Our one night stay experience is free of charge. We will definitely book here again and recommend Vleidam to acquaintances and family.
Excellent value for money! Very friendly reception by the hostess with homemade bread! Accommodation in a beautifully restored homestead with exceptional antique furniture. Definitely worth every cent. Will definitely visit again. This time for much longer!
What an experience - lovely place, peaceful environment, wonderful hostess that welcomes you in with freshly baked bread. I highly recommend Vleidam to any traveller - a home away from home. A special thanks to the owners that we could experience a piece of the wonderful farm life and for making it so special.
Thank you Nikki for our nice stay. The cottage is lovely and your farm and yard are peaceful, quiet and lovely to just relax.
The hospitality was great as well as the house. Will definitely use it again.
Large and cozy kitchen. Nikki is a very hospitable person and we had a great time visiting and swimming. Delicious home-baked bread and jam!
It was lovely. We can't wait to go again. We want so much to go in the winter and have a good time in the kitchen around the table with the fire in the kitchen burning blissfully.
If you need to get away from the city and just "be" then Vleidam is a definite place to stay. From Nikki, who is a wonderful hostess, to the delicious hot bread she brought us on arrival, to the farm animals that wake you up in the morning, everything about our stay was fantastic. We will definitely be back and bring friends along.
Thank you very much for the hospitality, you have a special place and I will definitely come back there again.
Well worth a visit, warm, inviting, tranquil, stunning views, peaceful, loved our stay.
This is the best place to stay, especially the little lambs.
Neat, clean, peaceful and fantastic hospitality.
Fantastic week on the farm... my kids fed baby lambs and took out eggs and played among the sheep! Waking up in the morning to the sounds of chickens and sheep and cows and seeing the sunrise over the wheat fields is a privilege!
Break away with the silence of the farm and a picture-perfect view.
Neat with everything you need and more.
Lovely farm experience with silence, views and peace. The facilities are great I would highly recommend it.
Besides being beautiful, the guesthouse was extremely neat and clean. Nikki and John are excellent hosts that care about the people staying over. The house is kitted with everything you might need from ear buds and nail clippers to bubble bath!
Nikki and John are two incredibly hospitable and pleasant people. Thank you very much for everything. Will definitely stay with you again.
The best guest house we have ever stayed in. Peaceful farm atmosphere and an incredibly well restored farmhouse with everything of the very best. Nikki's bubbly nature is as infectious as the freshly baked farm bread you get upon your arrival. We will definitely visit again but for longer than just one night.
See the stars below.
Good reception, a clean home with an indoor fireplace and conveniently close to the main road.
Nikki and John received us very warmly. The accommodation is perfect, with unexpected extras such as home-baked biscuits and bread, farm butter and milk, delicious coffee, and also extra toiletries in the bathrooms. The guest house was perfect for our family - our first holiday with a 1 and 3 year old, and a lovely experience. The garden is securely fenced, with even a gate in front of the attic stairs, with farm animals in enclosures around. They also had a great time playing with the little giant lamb, and eagerly explored the farm. Nikki and John were very hospitable, and took us on a tour of the farm and the Koringberg, and did everything they could to make our weekend comfortable. We will definitely visit again, and hope they can restore the other half of the guest house as well; it would be ideal for family holidays with 10 people.
