The stars were amazing! was a fantastic hostess and sent very good directions. The house is also very well equipped and the cupboards are even labeled to make it easier to find things. An absolute average.
The house is lovely big, and right next to the river in which you can swim. It's wonderful to get out of the city for a bit and take in the silence! Comfortable beds and nice big kitchen!

The spacious, tidy house offers very good value for what you pay. And all the small details such as enough hand and dish soap, wipes in the bathroom etc. just makes it extra nice and the beautiful view on the large porch is a big bonus.

We could find no fault with the house etc. not. Very peaceful and relaxed, but just feel that if you arrive after the time you can check in you don't want to have other people cleaning there. There is plenty of time to get everything ready before your arrival.

When we arrived, we couldn’t believe our luck. The location was amazing and the waterfall right by our back door was just the thing we needed to relax. It was the best.
It was a privilege to be able to share in the piece of nature, beautiful stream and mountains, neat, well-planned house. Don't stay just one night - there is too much to do. Unfortunately no WiFi.
Loved that Vrede Fountain House, feels remote and although the WiFi is laggy, it is a great excuse to disconnect from society and soak up the tranquillity. The star gazing at night is next level.

We were looking forward to a few days of rest and silence and we found this and many more at Vrede Fountain Farm. Everything was perfect and to describe the comfortable stay , the super starry nights, the wonder of nature around us, is impossible. This was a 5 star experience! Jonathan and Catherine are excellent hosts. Thank you for a beautiful stay at your piece of heaven.

We were so surprised with the facilities provided, the cleanliness and convenience of the house and the hospitality! It is a long dirt road, but the location is worth it - quiet and peaceful, surrounded by stone ledges and a clear starry sky at night.
We would love to stay there again. But more than one night. The silence and starry splendor were heavenly. I would definitely recommend this gem.
The farm is a lovely rest stop on a long journey.
Friendly and welcoming. The position and remoteness of this comfortable large house cannot be compared. We had lots of firewood for wonderful fires each evening and enjoyed relaxing in the living area. Highly recommended!
To be able to see such a beautiful piece of woodland and a rippling river stream in front of the house was unexpected in the Karoo. Nice view from braai / porch.
Although the accommodation was not ready for us when we arrived we spent a pleasant hour chatting with our host and having a cup of tea with him. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful accommodation.
Winky is a wonderful host. The house is spacious and has what you need. There is air-conditioning in the lounge and the rooms have fans, so the heat can get a little worse when you sleep. Beautiful views from the veranda and nice hiking trails with kudu and cattle to entertain the kids.
Fountain House is definitely at the top of our list of favorite nature hides! We stayed for 4 nights, and next time we went for 2 weeks. The indescribable location in a hidden valley, surrounded by the rolling Karoo landscape, brings silence and peace that enters corners of the soul one is not even aware of; not to mention the incredible starry sky early evening - on the deck chairs under the brightest Milky Way, a natural waterfall as background music with the toadstool - bliss without words! We were fortunate that there were exceptionally good rains just a few days before we visited - so the river underneath the house had been draining properly; There are nice big rocks next to the river for a lazy picnic too. The house itself is large, light and extremely comfortable. Catherine also gave us a warm and warm Karoo reception and made sure we know where everything is. We will definitely visit this very special Karoo corner soon!
What a stunning place on a stunning angora goat and ostrich farm. On a hill with a beautiful view over the cliffs and next to a small river. Had such a good time relaxing with the sounds of nature and a nice braai.
We were looking for a place to sleep that could get us into the holiday spirit after the long road. Fountain house is the perfect, "jumping off" place to sleep from Pretoria on the way to Plettenberg Bay. It is a little (18km) from the road (N9) but a unique, still karoo experience. Grill a piece of meat (which you buy in Graaf Reinett) while sitting on the house's stoep between the cups, and your chances are good to see the kudus who come to drink water.
We were received very kindly, the house is very comfortable and very neat and everything is fantastically beautiful.

Please take caution approximately 3.2km after you go through the security gate, there is a bad dip in the road. Please slow down completely to go through the dip, otherwise, you could damage your car.
