With an in-house events coordinator, qualified chef and staff of 25 members, the Vrede Hotel manages many small and large functions on a daily basis.

We attended a family function in Vrede Hotel, which was very well organised and presented. Therefore the location was ideal. We enjoyed our stay as we were well catered for.
Slept great, rooms meet all requirements, staff friendly and considerate, food was delicious. The road from Warden to Vrede was just full of potholes.

Very friendly staff from reception, to waitresses to barman. Room 6 could do with a little maintenance - the shower door doesn't close properly and the main door is not straight, making it difficult to lock from the inside. Otherwise, it's a lovely hotel with good food and service.
Vrede hotel was in constant contact as we arrived late and the road was in poor condition. But on our arrival there was a lovely restaurant and comfortable rooms. It's our second time staying here and it once again exceeded our expectations. Thanks to the helpful and friendly staff!

A beautiful hotel in a dilapidated country town where the main street is used by undesirable characters and the police have a total inability to maintain law and order. Booming music, screaming people and speeding cars continued until after 3am. The buildings around the hotel are in a very neglected state which makes the view extremely unpleasant. It's only the FNB, Standard Bank and less than five other buildings whose appearance is still maintained and they stick out like sore thumbs. On an Easter weekend that was traditionally overflowing with visitors, almost only three rooms in the hotel were occupied - that should speak volumes for any prospective visitors.
The room was big and spacious with very nice details, including chocolates and free WiFi. The bed had fresh towels on it. The bath was lovely and big, but the only disappointment was the smell of the water, which had an oily scent. The bed linen could have been fresher as well. We understand that Vrede doesn't really offer much for tourists, so staying at the hotel is more of a stopover or for farmers. While enjoying a good dinner in the restaurant (with charming service!), it was great to see locals coming in to collect takeaways. This is a great initiative on the part of the hotel.

The hotel is well maintained and beautiful inside. The rooms are spacious and clean with all the amenities and more that overseas 4 star hotels have.
Road to get there is very bad. Would have preferred bigger bed. People friendly. Service is great. Food was very nice. Will stay there again if I'm in the area.

There were no problems except that they had a very busy weekend with two functions taking place there. This threw up our breakfast the next morning, which was served more than an hour late, but we were still on time for the funeral we had to attend. Just one suggestion: There was only milk for one tea/coffee at the tea station in the rooms and we had to ask for extra each time. Would help if one could enjoy tea/coffee in the rooms more than once. However, staff were consistently friendly, courteous and competent.

The hotel is centrally located and is excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful. Vehicles are parked on site behind locked gates and are very secure. The rooms are spacious, clean and have all the amenities needed. The building has a neat appearance and is one of the cleanest buildings on the main street. The restaurant's food is extremely cheap and tasty. People need look no further than Vrede Hotel for accommodation in town.

There is one young man whom I like to single out. This is our waiter on two occasions. His name is Headman. Such a lovely person. He distinguishes himself at every possible level of service delivery. My little wife forgot her handbag in the restaurant. Headman brought the handbag to our room on his own initiative and with special effort. Five stars for him.

The Vrede Hotel is an excellent example of cleanliness and luxury in an environment that is in complete disrepair. The restaurant is beautiful and the food delicious.
Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness as well as the many places where you can sit and relax. Food was good, parking safe and the room pleasant.
From the outside the hotel looks like the rest of Vrede's main street which is not a pretty picture. But inside it's a different story. Old world charm, painstakingly neat and friendly staff. The room is spacious and well equipped with an extra large bed and everything that can warm you up for the Free State cold. Had a great evening in the hotel and got the best lamb curry, right Cape Malay! And good company of locals. Also the breakfast was a hit! Make an effort and stay here, it's worth the money.
The water was cut off when the 10 of us returned from visiting friends in the evening. Couldn't even brush teeth. Reception did not have key, kitchen or bar for extra water and later brought 6 glasses of water to the room. At breakfast time everyone was busy and we got no service. Drove without drinking or eating coffee.

This was the second time we stayed at Vrede Hotel. It is a beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms that are well-equipped. The restaurant's food is also delicious and very reasonable. I was disappointed that we had only 2 pillows on our bed despite the fact that we had booked the 'Deluxe' room at R1200 a night. Also, there was no towel for our baby in the room. The previous time we were given extra pillows, blankets and a towel for our baby. However, our overall experience was very good. Thank you.
With Vrede-dorp deteriorating very badly, the hotel really stands out. Staff were friendly and helpful and were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the place.
