Incredibly friendly hostess. Went out of their way to make it special with all the little treats. Felt very at home. Beautiful decor. Mattress firmer than expected and the cold winter hampered the water in the morning, but we had a lovely stay.
We had a very pleasant and peaceful stay here. Beautiful gardens and the old house is beautiful and the decor. People very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Dam House. Well equipped. Didn't make good use of the self-catering as we only stayed overnight. Nell's restaurant recommended by the accommodation for our dinner was very good and tasty.

We loved our stay at Vultures Lodge. It is located at the foot of the mountain, and its big garden makes you feel completely hidden. It is a beautiful old sandstone house. The inside of our room was beautifully decorated and clean. We were warmly welcomed, and they were very helpful in all communications. We had to shift our booking dates, and they didn't hesitate to help us. They organized another room for us at no extra cost. We will definitely stay over again, and we highly recommend it should you find yourself in the area.
Beautiful place and very peaceful. There is everything you need. Very neat and well maintained. Only downside is communication with owners. The entire town's power was out and the next morning the gate could not be opened with the remote control. There was no signal and none of us or any guest could turn off. Had to take the gate off the rail by necessity.
Beautiful old house and friendly welcome.
I stayed for one night. The guesthouse provided yummy supper and breakfast and we were made to feel at home. The rooms are individually decorated with all amenities and set in beautiful garden with mountain background. Only issue is the dirt road which was difficult to navigate due to rain.
It's worth driving around Zastron to sleep over here. Excellent accommodation, 5-star breakfast and friendly people. The house has been beautifully restored, the chalets are very well equipped and very beautiful.

What a great place with awesome staff.
We were greeted very kindly at the gate with the cutest boys. The reception was very friendly and we immediately felt comfortable. The unit is really so cutely laid out, with everything one would expect for a lovely safe and peaceful overnight stay. Will definitely go there again if we are in the area again.
The road to the lodge is horrendous.

Vultures Lodge is a beautiful old Free State farmhouse that has been restored and tastefully converted into an elegant overnight resting place. Additional cottages offer a "rustic" atmosphere. I really enjoyed the fireplace, seeing as I stayed there in the middle of winter. My visit was rounded off with a first class breakfast in the historic dining room. The service was excellent.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend the lodge because we were disappointed that dinner and breakfast were not provided. My booking expressly required both meals as did my response to sms's. Arriving on a Sunday there were no facilities to go and eat at or purchase food. I should have been warned to procure food to cook at the guest house. The guest house is old and quaint and lovely. Our room shower wasn't working and there was only enough hot water for one person to bath.
Samantha was a great hostess, upgraded us when we got there. Cottages very clean and linen smells deliciously clean. We had a nice barbecue and lay on the grass looking at the most beautiful starry sky. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you Samantha.

My biggest concern is security. When we returned late in the evening, the gate was open. The remote control we had did not close the gate. Anyone could therefore access the premises undisturbed. The sink in the bathroom is very small. One cannot properly wash hands or shave without wetting everything around the sink.
Nice and spacious, clean and comfortable. Surrounded by nature with a very rustic decor. Enjoyed a lot.

Clean, neat and quiet. Beautiful location.
There is no thoroughfare in the room for fresh air, so it was extremely hot even with a noisy fan supplied. I thought it quite unprofessional that we (and 3 other parties in the cottages) weren't met and welcomed upon arrival. Thanks to my husband dismantling the showerhead, we were able to have a shower. It is such a lovely place, I regret leaving feeling disappointed and slightly annoyed!

We were received very kindly. Had a great time on the stoep and barbecued. We had to bring our own wood which we communicated ahead of time. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bedding crisp and the breakfast (arranged in advance) delicious. We only missed filter coffee, but luckily brought our own supply. Will definitely come again.

Very well equipped to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Calm atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Can highly recommend them if you are traveling in that direction.
The only complaint I have it that the breakfast was lukewarm on a cold morning. The staff forgot to switch on the hot plates. Otherwise the service was excellent.
Pleasant and peaceful country accommodation with interesting furniture, wooden floors and character. Good dinner. Too bad there were no coffee facilities in the rooms, and the common "coffee nook" in the dining room's good instant coffee bottle was empty, and the coffee in the coffee machine's filter was still used coffee from a previous event.
Vultures Lodge is just the right distance for a stopover from Gauteng. Most impressed with the friendliness.
Vultures Lodge could be a very nice stop-over, but it does not have adequate insulation in the ceilings and the result is that the rooms are extremely hot. Calling ahead in December on Christmas Eve we found out an hour before arriving that the lodge was not going to serve dinner, apparently a message was left that we didn't receive informing us. Upon arrival we found our room to be a lot smaller and darker than we had remembered when booking, however we unpacked and started to prepare dinner only to find there was no gas, we were informed by the owner who was elsewhere the bottle was behind our unit, but after investigating in the dark we realised it was in a locked storeroom and gave up on that. The following day we checked our notes which confirmed we were not in the room as advertised and the owner confirmed that all the other units are different to the unit advertised.
We were so impressed with the pictures on the site and really looked forward to the stay. We were travelling with our new in-laws from Israel and all of us were overwhelmed with how beautiful the house and area was, as well as at the hospitable welcoming by Samantha and all the staff.

We were overcome by the tranquility at Vultures Lodge. The lay out of the cottage is great. Visit Nel's Restaurant for delicious takeaways and sitdown food.
What a special place! So many precious antiques in this beautiful old house. We were warmly welcomed, slept well and enjoyed the facilities. If you can, sleep over in this lovely lodge.
We had a pleasant and peaceful evening. The unit offered everything needed and it was clean and tidy.
Lovely, well equipped self-catering cottage. Perfect for an overnight stop between Kruger and the Eastern Cape. Will use it again.
