55 guests' feedbackVery well located, would go again anytime. Lots of movement with animals.
It was a great stay, very happy.
We really enjoyed our time.
Loved the place, the rooms were big enough, and the owner was very friendly.
Excellent. Venue is superb. Facilities are great. So relaxing.
Lovely place and beautiful surroundings.
Our stay was a wonderful family gathering. Space for everyone, facilities for all our people excellent. Would recommend this place to a large number of people. Thanks again.
The animals made our parents' day every morning and evening. It was absolutely what we needed to be able to rest and forget about the daily hustle and bustle.
The house was ready upon our arrival and has everything you need for a nice break. The visitors we brought from the UK were very pleased with everything they saw and experienced and the spa bath was definitely a bonus for them and it was thoroughly utilised. We had a great time with all the animals who kept popping in for a snack and even competed with all the birds for their food. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to barbecue and cook and even enjoyed the rugby a lot. I would recommend Walking Tall any time to people looking for a nice getaway in the woods and looking forward to using the house again. My key deposit was refunded quickly and I really appreciated that.
I recommend this house to anyone looking for a break with all the amenities needed and the added benefit of having a jacuzzi in your garden. Watching the animals made the whole experience priceless.
Bathrooms need a little TLC and the lighting is a little dim in lounge area.
Perfect spot to stay in. Very basic facilities. Was warned about ant problems.
Rested well and thoroughly enjoyed the tame game around the retreat. However, there had been very little cleaning done before we arrived. There were also a lot of ants in the house, so we put baby powder all over the racks in the pantry.
All the animals that came to visit were wow. Will visit again.
The unit offers basic facilities and although eight guests can stay, there is not enough kitchenware for large groups. Picking up the key was frustrating with long lines and confusing alarm system instructions. The hot tub has to be filled by itself which meant we couldn't use it on the first night. There is also no thermostat for guests to regulate the water. We asked for it to be adjusted after the bath didn't get hot. It was cold this weekend. If you don't know how a hot tub works you will be overwhelmed with uncertainty. Overall, this is a unit more appropriate for guests on a budget and then expecting basic facilities with customer service that is more modeled on loss management and compliance with unit and park rules. If you let the alarm go off there are fines, you must take your own rubbish out of the unit, and remember to make all the forms and payments to the owner before you arrive.
Wonderful experience with the animals and scenery! Will definitely come again.
Oh, now that was fun. We as families really enjoyed it.
Very good location. Not far from Crocodile Bridge Gate of Kruger Park. Very nice woodland atmosphere.
The place is great!
The whole group enjoyed the weekend incredibly! Can really recommend it.
Very clean and tidy. The owner was very helpful.
We had a very nice stay. It was just further from Marloth's gate to the wildlife park than we thought (about a 20 minute drive) and this should therefore be taken into account if you want to be at Krokodilbrug gate when it opens. Because we were a group, the many sleeping areas and 3 bathrooms worked very well. The two en-suite bathrooms have a shower, sink and toilet and are just a bit small. The other bathroom is larger and includes a bathtub as well. The braai area outside was very nice and we hung out there in the evening and felt very safe. We used the Jacuzzi two nights which was very nice. It just takes a little while to warm up when you first put it on when you come out of the wildlife park because it doesn't have a cover. But overall a nice stay.
Walking Tall is well equipped and very tidy, with a large boma and Jacuzzi. The regular visit of wildlife was a highlight. Delicious, will definitely visit again.
Very nice clean place. Very professional owners.
It is a beautiful house and a nice braai area. I would recommend that they look at the duvets especially on the beds in the loft. But we will book there again.
Especially the jacuzzi was dirty, had to clean it myself and when we poured water it smelled like rotten drain water, so the time we spent in it, there hung a rotten smell. Lastly he took about 5 hours to warm up, couldn't even use him on Friday night. Was not value for money at all.
I will definitely be back again. The kids enjoyed it a lot.
Very clean, tidy house. Jacuzzi was definitely great with animals coming to eat right next to you, will definitely book again at Walking Tall. My 18 year old, 6 year old and elderly grandmother all enjoyed it immensely!
Beautiful home with everything you need.
Walking Tall is very nice clean and tidy. Will definitely visit again. We had a nice rest in the forest.
It would be nice if they had undercover parking for the cars.
Enjoyed our visit very much. Well equipped and very tidy. Lots of animals around which was awesome. Will use Walking Tall Private Bush Retreat again.
Glasses dirty, should have been washed. Jacuzzi, why we specifically chose Walking Tall, didn't work at all, as in not at all. Not even after people were sent to come and see. Bitterly disappointed.
We had a really nice quiet weekend at Walking Tall.
It's a spacious, modern house that is comfortably equipped and my whole family really enjoyed it. The photos on the website are just as they are: the interior decoration is stylish for the type of house, the animals come past the house to graze, full DStv for that one program or sports match you don't want to miss, and the large braai area looking out over the field. The nearest neighbors are just visible through the trees, and you stay private without any disturbances. We never felt unsafe: the camp security is on duty 24 hours a day and also does visible patrolling (very friendly staff). There is plenty to do in and around Marloth Park. The 2 entrances to the Kruger National Park are also close by, but if you decide to just stay at the house every day, it offers enough to make it worthwhile.
Place was very well appointed, had no problems.
It was wonderful to see all the animals up close. Among others, we had zebra, warthogs and ostriches visit us. The goats and giraffes were a bit shy, but stalked us from a distance. The house is very well equipped and we lacked nothing to make food etc. There is nothing to complain about, but a suggestion would be the following: The loft was incredibly hot and the fan did not help. I would suggest fitting another air cooler upstairs. It's also terribly hot in December so we couldn't sit outside at the boma during the day. A gazebo or shade net on one side might bring some relief outside. The communication and service was very good and we will definitely be back again. Thank you very much for a lovely break.
The travel from home was a bit far. Driving in Marloth Park we did see wild. Didn't have to go in the Kruger Park. The best is the Jacuzzi kept my boys busy. We will come again.
We took exchange students from La Reunion there and it was wonderful for them to see the animals come so close. Facilities were excellent and we really enjoyed it.
Feeling a part of nature with the Giraffe, Kudu, Zebra walking past or even up to you. Great way to truly experience South Africa. Walking Tall has all the things that you need to have - feeling home away from home. A short walk then you at Crocodile river, although Walking tall is just off the main road in Marloth - you don't hear the vehicles. Really look forward to planning our next trip.
Johan was very helpful and his place is clean and has a "homey feel to it". We were fortunate enough to have a few four legged friends come and say hi. I would definitely visit Walking Tall again!
This was exactly what my family needed. This was without doubt one of the best places we have ever been to. The rooms are big and comfortable. The place is well maintained and everything was in order.
The house is very well equipped and there was nothing missing in the kitchen. The rooms were very neat and the bedding nice and looked like it was brand new. The braai area with its large grill is well designed for hanging out and still interacting with the animals. It was an experience and memories to cherish. A few suggestions we would like to make: The decorations of the bedside lamps match the forest atmosphere very nicely, but this means that the lighting is very dim and that we could not read a book or magazine in bed in the evening. The bathrooms did not appear quite as clean as the rest of the house and specifically in the large bathroom the bath mat was very dirty. The head of the shower mixer tap (mixer) in the bathroom in the double bedroom was loose. Website advertisement and description of the bedrooms could be improved. We would suggest mentioning that 3 of the bedrooms are at ground level, with an additional 3 beds in the loft room. It was a welcome surprise that we didn't have to climb stairs to get to the bedrooms.
Lovely place to stay, clean and have the necessary things to use. Love the Jacuzzi youth enjoyed it a lot. Will definitely visit it again with the youth in future. Thanks for a memorable weekend we could spend there.
Lovely house in the heart of the forest.
It was one of the nicest stays ever in Marlothpark. Zebras literally come to visit on the porch. The house is very well furnished and has everything you need for a great holiday. Place was very clean and tidy. We had a great time in the Jacuzzi, definitely a plus. If you need a nice break this is just the right resting place for soul and spirit, would recommend to anyone.
Had a great stay. The water pipe to the Lodge burst, so we had to struggle to find someone to fix it.
One of our best vacations yet. Animals literally walk around on the porch and at night you hear lions roaring. The Jacuzzi kept the kids busy until late, while we sat quietly and barbecued. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants to visit the wildlife park.
Will stay there again, very nice.
Enjoyed the stay. Heard the traffic from Olifant Street every now and then, but it was tolerable. The children loved riding their bicycles and playing in the bush. Would go again!
Sit on the porch and watch the animals pass by one by one and come to say hello. A sip of water and they are on their way again. Residence is very comfortable. The 2 en-suite bathrooms are just a bit tight, especially for a big man. But the rest makes up for it. Just walk down the road and the river flows by. It was awesome.
A cleaning service would have been nice - we are on holiday after all! House and lapa are super comfortable as well as the beds. Would have been nice to be able to lock the veranda for bikes and trunks. TV is great for Super Rugby and the kids played outside. Left R200 for cleaning on the last day. Jacuzzi kept the kids busy and it was a fantastic idea! All in all it was a great getaway! Will definitely go back, thank you!
Place was very neat and comparatively well equipped. The en suite bathrooms are just very uncomfortably tiny. The front door couldn't lock from the inside because the handle was broken, but we alerted the owner. The building noise from the neighbour was just completely unacceptable. It started before 06:00 in the morning and carried on until late afternoon every day. I took it up with the builder and made a friendly request for them to please keep it down in the mornings, but he told me to discuss it with the owner of the house I was renting, which I did. He couldn't really do much except to give me a small discount on 1 day's booking, so my planned time of rest and peace was everything but that. I trust the building process will be completed next month.
Everything was very nice and nice and clean and tidy, although my sister's purse was taken from her car and all her money was stolen, but other than that it was fantastic.
