For accommodation that is very neat, it is rather disappointing that they do not have full DStv. Had to stay at home due to surgery so a more complete TV package would have been nice.
It was a perfect one night stopover for us, close to restaurants. could happily have stayed longer.
We drove a whole 9 hours from Cape Town with hopes that we can rest peacefully before heading out for business the next day. Unfortunately, there's so much water damage in this self-catering unit that the smell was unbearable. Mould all around. Smell of dog urine, our towels were wet, kitchen dish cloth was dirty just to name a few. At this hour we contacted the gentleman that checked us in. We explained the situation, and he apologized profusely. He said he'll move us to a tiny room for the night just to rest and then we'll be moved to a better unit the next day. We slept in this tiny room for the night. The whole roof is black with mould inside the room as well as the bathroom area. Curtains are filthy. The next 2 nights we were placed in a better room that is part of the main house. We were offered breakfast for these 2 days. I do understand that heavy rains cause damage, but surely the owner of this guest house has to see what's going on and rather not rent out rooms until maintenance is done. It's not fair paying the full price for something you don't receive as advertised. No compensation was offered. Hats off to the lovely lady that made us tasty breakfast!
The coffee cups were badly chipped. I suggest they add rechargeable bulbs to the bedside lamps. Total darkness during loadshedding is not fun.
Walmer Manor Guesthouse is ideally located. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable with more than enough secure parking. It is close to the airport and, despite my late arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful.
I booked specifically because they advertise that you can check in until 10pm and paid extra for a room with a king size bed. The bigger bed was necessary and important to me for personal reasons. I was contacted and told I had to check in before 19:00 which was impossible for me. That sorted out. When we got to the room it was just a regular double bed. When I asked about it I was told that they don't advertise it as a king size bed. I showed them the ad and the answer was just "we'll look into it". I still haven't been contacted.
The place is nice, and the rooms are spacious, but not at all located for someone traveling for business. It is not properly communicated that you cannot prepare food in your room. The rooms are so close together, you hear everything that happens. The evenings are very disturbing, there is no silence. The walking and moving of furniture, the dropping of a knife and fork, the washing of dishes. You hear everything. They said no animals, but last night there was a dog that peed on everything. The rooms are so close together for a non smoker it is a horrible experience. The people who smoke outside, you smell everything. It is incredibly hot and there are no fans or air cooling. I believe for family it is perfect. There is no decent place or chair where I could work.
When they heard I'm travelling with my mom in law, they gave us 2 separate rooms with no extra cost, that's the detail they are into. Thanks.
Everything was very comfortable, will definitely come back.
