49 guests' feedbackThe rest, the view, the birds and goats and of course the heated swimming pool make Waterberg Cottages a place we will definitely come back to!
Pleasant and peaceful.
Lovely cottage, the thatch and thick walls make it nice and cool. Great reception.
The location, whilst remote, is excellent. I think the cost per person in the Butterfly cottage makes it expensive. I would have preferred a two-bedroom cottage which is better equipped with kitchen utensils and a shower, but had to settle for the Butterfly cottage due to availability. The farmstyle atmosphere is great, and one forgives the shortfalls for that.
Quiet and peaceful. Nice hiking trails and wildlife watching.
It's neat facilities without load shedding. The wildlife comes to visit you and the birdlife is enriching.
It was a wonderful break away from the stress and hustle and bustle, really felt like we were secluded deep in nature.
Precious family time. Beautiful scenery, clean and tidy cottage with a friendly host. Horseback riding among the wild is good for your soul and stargazing at the beautiful night sky is something to remember. Will definitely come again. Thank you for your hospitality.
The place is one in a million and everything is just on point. The customer service is excellent, just another home away from home.
Wonderful it is very peaceful and the people are friendly and very helpful.
Waterberg Cottages offers many varied activities, walks, horse riding and you can enjoy swimming!
Waterberg Cottages is the ideal getaway if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but only as long as you don't have to drive around too much. If you take everything together and stay there for a few days, perfect, but if you, like us, had to ride out every day to the cycling destination then the road and the drive get a bit much.
The roar of the lions in the evening around the campfire made the experience both unique and special.
The bed was old, noisy and uncomfortable, we ended up sleeping on the couches, the swimming pool was dirty, lock your dogs when you host people and upgrade your fridges and install television.
When we arrived there we got stuck in the mud so we had bad experience. Lots of dogs around kids couldn't play. And another thing that surprised me I booked for four sleeper for 2 people sharing and it was R3000 so then my partner couldn't join because he was sick. So because there was no refund I decided to bring my sister and two kids, to my surprise I was told to add R2500 because we are four but I booked for four sleeper even though I was coming with my partner only because it was the only one left.
Very quiet except for the birdsong and wind through the trees. We really could relax. Only 2,5 hours drive from Gauteng. We loved the tennis court, hikes, amazing game drive and astronomy show. Very friendly hosts.
Many thanks for a great weekend! We thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and considering the ecstatic feedback from the two Jack Russels, we will be back.
The accommodation is very nice, well equipped and very nice surroundings. Pool is great! Service and friendliness are very good.
I've often stayed around the Waterberg area but not with a large group. Kudu lodge was the perfect for this occasion, we were able to spend time as a family around the home, there was plenty for the kids to do to prevent them getting bored. My one suggestion would be installing insect screens on the doors and windows to prevent too many of them finding their way inside at night. With screens you would then be comfortable to have more windows open as well.
Value for money.
The reception was great. The place was beautifully clean and tidy, everything was as expected. The tennis courts and children's play area need some attention. The dirt road was worse than expected and we got stuck in very deep sand. The staff at Waterberg Cottages are very helpful and gave us complimentary coffee and sugar after we forgot ours at home. They also offered to bring things from town if needed so we didn't have to drive.
Definitely worth it for a still time in nature.
Great place to just chill. Porch is wonderful to sit on and read, visit or just stare. The barbecue area can be lit, however, if there is a barbecue at night it is quite dark.
We had a nice and quiet getaway with the kids at Waterberg Cottages. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back there. Will recommend Waterberg Cottages to anyone that wants some peace and quiet.
It's at an odd location and very hard to find but otherwise it's all good but I must add if you're looking for a modern place this is not the place for you.
Stayed in Rose Cottage as it is the only one fenced for the sake of our 2 small pooches. Pleasant, best feature being fantastic semi-enclosed patio with comfortable furniture - can recommend watching night-time thunderstorms with all the lights off! Many walking trails in the immediate vicinity. Communal nearby swimming pool is heated, thanks to 13 dedicated solar panels!
The customer service was great, there were prolonged power outages due to the cloudy weather and the solar power, something that needs attention, we were kept informed all the time so once again great service, we really enjoyed it, especially the canoe.
See stars.
Great staff, lovely cottage. We really enjoyed our stay. Super comfortable stay for two.
It was a nice peaceful atmosphere to break away from the city life and hustle and bustle.
Was very pleasantly surprised with Bushwillow Cottage. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to go and relax with their family.
Baie baie teleurgesteld. Glad nie waarde vir geld nie.
We had a very nice stay at Waterberg Cottages. All that bothered me was the loud music coming from the labor houses (I think). It was special for us to sleep in the Windsong Cottage with so much history. The heated pool was really lovely and the sandpits at each cottage are also an excellent idea. Our children really enjoyed it. We will definitely recommend Waterberg Cottages to our friends.
Would definitely recommend and make an effort to get out there again. The cultural tour that can be done there was very cute and would recommend it to anyone. I wish we could go with more family and friends for a longer time. Many thanks to the friendly staff!
Had a good time around the crackling fireplace. Surrounds are quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed the dogs, especially Timmy the eldest who came to visit every morning and excitedly walked with us each day. The staff were friendly and helpful with the supply of wood during our stay. The cottage was well equipped with everything you may need. Thanks for a nice getaway!
The staff are friendly and helpful. Between the African night owl's call in the night and the frog's chorus, tranquility descends on you. The fire, for the evening's barbecue, is carefully prepared with a mixture of grass and fine wood, so that you only need a match to get the fire going. Abundant and dry woodland wood makes it an unforgettable evening.
Peace and tranquility. You sit on your stoep with the braai and your beer and watch the sunset. You go for walks in the bush and watch the wildlife. There was a friendly dog that loved walking/running with us. All the staff are very friendly. The cottage is our favourite in the Waterberg.
Very nice farm feel. Just very hot in the room in the afternoons. I would prefer blinds. Very steep stairs not suitable for older people or small children. Children enjoy it a lot. Pack bikes!
Thank you for the friendly service!
Our only complaints are that the cattle make noise next door, and every now and then there is loud music from the people at the "cultural village".
See the stars below.
A wonderful experience.
Friendly hosts, great accommodation.
The location is very good for a relaxing holiday and is away from mainstream distractions, which is what we are hoping for. Could be slightly pricey per person, but it's not over the top.
We had such a wonderful time, it was really a home away from home.
The cottages have a lot of character and create that sense of tranquility. The staff were very peaceful and helpful in arranging for two motorbikes to be taken to the tarmac on the back of a bakkie the next day.
Though very off-the-beaten path the cottages are beautifully situated. Everything is provided for you. The place was quiet but there was enough to keep my young daughter entertained all day (with no TV). Despite 2 encounters with poisonous snakes (one by the pool and another in the cabin) I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a break from city-life.
My only complaint is that although Windsong cottage was clean, the accommodation is old.
