If you want to appreciate a peaceful farm atmosphere, where you don't hear any vehicles, can hear evening sounds, and want to experience good family time again, then this is it. The horses and dogs are so friendly, come to greet you every day. I would spend any time there again. The pool is so beautiful, you can go cool off on hot days. The swimming pool is a short walk from the house. The mobile reception is not very good, but if you move around a bit you can still use the phone in emergencies.

The lovely porch welcomes you with open arms! The house is very comfortably furnished with everything you could need and the large swimming pool is just as refreshing in the bushveld heat. We had a great time in the boma and enjoyed the friendly dogs and enthusiastic horses, as well as curious meerkats. The unexpected treat biscuit; sweets and cold water in the fridge are also extremely thoughtful - we will definitely come again!

Waterberg Hideaway is conveniently located and easy to find on the way from Thabazimbi to Marekele National Park. The house is hidden in the woods at the foot of one of the Kransberg's magnificent cliffs, and therefore ensures beautiful scenery and absolute peace. Perfect place to relax and actually really rest decently for once. Everything you need is provided, and the lapa area is excellently equipped for late nights around the fire.

Very cute place in the woods, the unit has everything you need for a few days getaway. The silence, natural beauty and the stars in the evening are truly something to appreciate. The 3 dogs are the best walking companions and have the cutest personalities. The horses are also cute and very tame. Definitely a place to consider if you want to get away from the city.

Will be convenient if the unit is serviced. We were out early in the morning and back late at night and didn't have time to clean ourselves. Other than that we had a great stay.

A perfect experience of the bushveld if you are looking for silence and peace. It is a safe environment. The double bathroom facilities were very convenient. But the absolute highlight of every day is the visits on the stoep and in the boma. Wilhelm and Ingrid are lovely hosts and made us feel like family.

From before we arrived, communication with the host was prompt and helpful. The Hideaway, in addition to the very comfortable cottage, has beautiful settings. We enjoyed our walks, the interesting information shared by our host and the relaxing surroundings. Nothing was too much for our hosts and help was on hand all the time. Perhaps an area of improvement from our perspective would be to ensure that the hiking trails are cleared/marked.

"Soul rejuvenating at its best."

The cottage is fully equipped with everything one would need for a bush getaway, and situated in the most pristine area surrounded by the lovely Marakele park. We spent four nights at the Waterberg Hideaway and enjoyed every minute there. Lovely hiking trails on the farm too. Easy three hours drive from Johannesburg. Most definitely on our list of establishments to return to.

"Private and nice feeling in the woods."

Very nice, Wilhelm and his wife are salt of the earth. Very comfortable and tidy and everything you need for your forest holiday. Would suggest that you go to Marakele National Park in winter instead. We were there now and after all the rain it was difficult to see wildlife in the Wildlife Park. But that doesn't take anything away from Waterberg Hideaway. Fantastic place. Will go again.

Waterberg Hideaway is a gem. Comfortable, clean, well equipped. Reinhild and her staff were so welcoming and friendly and helpful, and we thank you for that. Evenings around the fire in the lapa, wrapped up warm was lovely (we did visit in a winter month). We can only recommend Waterberg Hideaway and will be back if we visit Thabazimbi again!

Everything was just simply the best! Nice and spacious, neat, clean, well equipped with everything and even more than you might need. Lovely visit lapa, with leafy roof, beautiful nature. Fantastic view of the Bushveld from the mountain climbing paths. Night sky is a spectacle of the brightest stars. Host and wife very friendly and helpful. Reinhild and her mother make the most beautiful jewels, could buy the most beautiful earrings for daughters for their birthdays. Grandchildren enjoyed the pets immensely. For sure we will visit Waterberg Hideawy again for next family gathering.

"Forest house in the forest."

We enjoyed every moment of our two night stay. We inquired at the last minute on Sunday evening about availability to arrive on Monday afternoon. Our inquiry was answered immediately and we were received very hospitably. The extra mile that the hostess, Reinhild, walks for guests has not gone unnoticed. It ranged from delicious Darling toffees, to home-baked biscuits and bottles of cold water in the fridge, to a lap pool (the pool they were building was almost complete) and a bacon tree plant for my birthday. The beautiful lights and candles create a magical atmosphere at night. Sitting in the boma at night, with a crackling fire and looking at the stars on the bench in the boma is medicine for the soul. We also really enjoyed the dogs, cats and their little ones, as well as Graham the tame horse, who rubs his head against the banister and makes frequent visits inside the boma. The next morning's visit to Reinhild and her mother, Ingrid's little shop was also an experience. From the forest path you walk to the shop to the beautiful handmade jewellery, cards, woven products, etc. is something not to be missed. My husband and my parents bought me the most beautiful jewelry for my birthday which I will cherish forever and which will be a wonderful memory of our two days in Waterberg Hideaway. There are also lovely walking paths with breathtaking views. Waking up to soft rain and sitting and drinking tea on the spacious veranda was the icing on the cake. Thank you very much for sharing a part of your piece of paradise with us. We hope to return soon.

The accommodation needs attention. The doors rattle and don't fit properly, particularly the kitchen door. The beds and mattresses need replacing. Some comfortable seating by the pool would be a bonus.

Waterberg Hideaway is a lovely place to get away from the city - it's literally dead silent, except for the wonderful bird sounds. The house has everything that could be needed on a practical level, and then also has quite a few accessories that include small luxuries such as candlelighters on the porch and welcoming snacks. The walking paths that were laid out on the farm, as well as the benches with views over Marakele Park, were special, and a lot of effort was definitely put into the planning of both.

The kitchen and house is very well equipped. The hosts surprised us with welcoming snacks - this made us feel welcome. The house is very close to the Marakele National Park, which is ideal to go for a quick morning or afternoon drive in the park.

Limited mobile signal and no WiFi which meant our teenager spent time with the family. Hospitable, friendly host and hostess. Beautiful paths for walking. Bordering the Marakele Reserve so close to visit the reserve. Reinhilde is also a silversmith and makes the most beautiful jewelery which is a wonderful memory of the time spent there. The boma where the fire is made is cleaned every day.

At first we thought we were lost, couldn't see the house in the bushes at all. A well-equipped house with a very nice porch in a very nice environment. Just a short walk and you have a beautiful view! We have truly recharged!
