24 guests' feedbackWe had the best time in this lovely home. Our second time booking here. Fishing was such a joy as the river is right in front of us. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back.
Not much to do in the town itself if fishing or swimming is not an option. The house itself is very basic, but comfortable and clean. Hot water is not always available, so we planned our showers carefully. All said in summary above.
It is a rustic cottage with a beautiful view.
There were a few corners that needed cleaning and the downstairs bathroom is much nicer than we expected. The view and tranquility were perfect for a nice break.
Felt like we were staying at an old school holiday house. Nothing fancy, but everything you need. Simple yet effective. A great view. Dog friendly and quite private. Better suited to summertime but indoor fireplace made it cosy.
The positioning of Waterford is its saving grace which is a pity as I believe it could be one of the best self-catering units out there if some care and much due maintenance was carried out. Some niceties that are present at other places were missing. Spare toilet paper other than just what's on the holder. Candles and holders for loadshedding. A flashlight. Salt and pepper basics. A watering can to catch water while waiting for the water to get hot. A lot of fuss is made about recycling, but the little things were missing. Soap in the showers. The towels were small and very old. The main bed's mattress is completely finished and the bed frame is loose and flimsy. Both my partner and I are in need of a chiropractor after spending 3 very uncomfortable nights in it. The whole place was dusty and we were disappointed in the overall cleanliness of the apartment on arrival. The TV is mounted in a very non-user-friendly place that we both found baffling. The outside plastic chairs were broken. The cement outside bench is broken. The portable braai needs a base and grid. It's sad that such a lovely place with so much potential has been left to run down so badly. A good cleanup and maintenance plan should be undertaken before renting it out again.
I can highly recommend Waterford. Great location for fishermen at popular jetty and close to restaurant if you don't feel like cooking, walking distance to popular market.
Would just like more than 1 towel each for 7 days. 1 per person was far too little. Our ashes will go back anytime. I'm recovering from back surgery and was able to lie on the couch in the living room and look out over the river, which at least gave me a vacation feeling.
Well equipped holiday home with unbelievable views of Breeder river, although it is a well lived in, unit is clean and has all the amenities one requires on holiday, stairs to upstairs room not suited for elderly guests.
Waterford Holiday Home is a cottage that has tremendous potential, however, is in a serious state of neglect and disrepair. This was the first time that we had booked accommodation through LekkeSlaap where we had to pay an additional cleaning fee of R350. This was also the first time that we were expected to bring our own bath towels. We were provided with two hand towels, though.
1. Cutlery and cutlery were dirty and we had to wash them first to be able to use them. Also very old. 2. General maintenance of the place is very poor and needs urgent attention. 3. The furniture is very old and poor. 4. The place was not clean when we got there. One gets the impression that there is no proper supervision of the cleaning process. Floors and the carpets were dirty. 5. Some of the photos are misleading - especially about the furniture in the living room.
Will definitely come again to the same place. Would definitely recommend Waterford.
It is beautiful by the water and a lovely place.
The stay was fantastic, just the stairs were a killer. So if you are young, then a yes.
Neat accommodation with a very nice view. It is very well equipped. Service was very friendly.
We will definitely want to visit here again. House has a view of the river and is literally just across the road from it. Master bedroom also has views of the river with a front and rear patio. The electric blanket was a great asset in the cold winter as was the fireplace in the living area. When we arrived there was no power due to unexpected outage, luckily there were 2 lights that worked despite the power outage.
It was very cold inside. Even though there was a warm blanket on the bed, the bedding on top felt wet. For the money we paid we are very disappointed.
We loved our stay at Waterford. I would however advise that it should be stated it's not suitable for elderly people. We were thinking of taking our parents and glad we didn't as the couch sits/sinks way too low and the stairs up to main bedroom are not for old people. The rest was magic!
The location was picture perfect and a fisherman's dream! Loved every minute.
Lovely place with enough space and good view!! Indoor braai an asset as the weather was wet and cold on Saturday. Plenty of birds there too.
Lovely master bedroom and living area with porch. Space on yard ample for children to play and boat. Would have preferred more crockery and a baking dish. Will trade washing machine for dishwasher.
We were a group of three females aged, 60,70 and 82 years. It was on arrival immediately evident that the very steep narrow stairs to the main bedroom would present a problem. It was also found that access and use of the downstairs toilet was unacceptable due to the narrow confines between the shower, the basin and the wall. Despite the size of the upstairs room, the bathroom again was too small. It was furthermore found that there were no less than five light bulbs missing, three of which I replaced myself in order to have some light in our bedroom. These limitations, particularly in respect of elderly visitors or kids, should be made clear on the website. Physical security measures on the external doors should be improved.
Very peaceful, very comfortable. Just need to warn guests of steps, (were fine for us). Some small maintenance issues. TV package is very poor, rather not have it at all, or maybe install a DVD player. But overall fantastic location.
Although the location is good and the view of the river is beautiful, the unit gives a feeling of neglect. It was not "spotless". It's as if everything has been gathered together to provide and it makes it look like a thrift store. There is a very stylish, now staircase to the master bedroom of which guests should be informed ahead of time.
