I believe few people know about the waterstraat village and it's to sail everywhere with a pedal boat. Lesley is a lovely hostess, who makes you feel right at home. Place is beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean. It's also conveniently close to Muizenberg's beautiful beach and lots of places to eat. Definitely recommend.

I would recommend if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. An absolute gem of a place with scenic views over the lake. We will definitely visit again in the near future.
The view over the lake (Zandvlei) from the Off-Water Unit where we stayed is exquisite, and with a patio at two separate levels we spent most of our time there, whether eating, drinking tea or sundowners, reading, or just taking in the watery panorama. The bedroom is big enough and the bathroom quite spacious. The host is a wonderful person, with a great sense of humour, attention to detail, and concern about anything we might need. Add to all of this the Park Island Nature Reserve 200 metres away, where one can go for long walks and enjoy all the wetland birds and flora. Marina da Gama is like a self-contained quiet oasis, isolated from the traffic and suburbs around.

The stay was wonderful. The scenery is beautiful, it's nice and peaceful as well with bird life swimming past the patio. At night, you can hear the fish jumping out of the water. There is a nice paddle boat that can be used, which made the stay even more spectacular.
Yes, except for the lounge sofas. It was very uncomfortable and felt like a hard board against the back. There is no decent parking. One must park under low-hanging trees. Our bakkie is tall and scratched. Should the trees be pruned a bit, there would be sufficient parking for 3 cars. The view over the water and mountains was fantastic.

I was in Cape Town for work. Although small for two people, the accommodation was very pleasant and had a good outside area that can be used in good weather. It is well located with easy access to various amenities. A good place for walking. The unit that we were in had poor WiFi connectivity, and you had to go outside to connect. Once connected, the connection seemed to hold.

Very nice place, the only thing that put me off is that you have to walk through the toilet/bathroom with your food if you want to go sit outside to prepare or eat food on the balcony.
The location itself is very great and the accommodation has a really nice entrance and under-tree parking, very nice view from the veranda (when the water is not full of algae - not in the picture) but yes, there is a quite a few things to be taken up with the owner. We arranged to book in at 08H00 on the first day, but we were about half an hour late. When I called to discuss this with her, she refused to let us come (even though she actually lives there and was ready for us for the 08H00 check-in). May we no longer come until 14H00 (usual time - without an explanation), which completely throws us off with planning etc. We actually wanted to cancel right then and there, we were so disappointed. The apartment's sofas were probably 40 years old, very hard and wooden which was extremely uncomfortable, and the problem was that it was the only place where one could sit in the evenings. The very small fan that was provided for the seating area and room was so small and weak that if you don't sit in front of it, you don't feel anything. The hair dryer blew up in my wife's hands the other night, and she was very lucky not to get hurt or shocked. When I reported it to the owner the next morning, the response was one of "Oh well, I am not going to replace it", not even asking if my wife was okay, that was very poor for me. I will not go there again, even though the location was nice and the small "peddle boat" very nice to go on the water. Too many small things were not fun for us. There were only plastic chairs outside instead of nice comfortable outdoor chairs where one can comfortably barbecue outside and watch the sunset, very "cheap" alternative. There isn't even a place for the microwave, it's on the lounge corner table by the sofas which was really not nice. The rear sliding door jams every single time you close and open it, something that surely could have been fixed a long time ago. We didn't even sleep - spend the last day/night there, not even worrying about wasting a night's accommodation, instead sleeping over with family. Sorry, but I say what's on my mind so you know, it doesn't help that I blow their trumpet, but there are so many things to improve. We pay a lot of money to go and stay there, but I think the owner has the place so long she doesn't have to worry about "upgrading" and improving or making things better because no one complains or says what's wrong . This was our second stay at Waterways - our first time in the Budget Flat. Unfortunately, the weather was really unkind during our stay, so my dream of pedalo-ing around the islands was not realized. The Budget Flat offers an outdoor space on the water's edge, which we could also sadly not make the most of due to the weather. Lesley was a great hostess and made sure that our stay was comfortable and clean!

The owner is very caring and her hospitality is excellent everything you need is available, toilet paper, shower gel, coffee, tea, sugar, utensils even matches and even a paddle boat I must tell the owner, Leslet, knows hospitality even plugs and a hairdryer, very nice.

Stayed for a few days before taking a friend to the airport. Lovely to wake up to a view of the water in the morning. Just a note to Lesley - possibly trim branches off the trees where we park as we broke the ariel on the roof of the car manoeuvring under them and 2 small bedside tables would not go amiss. Other than that, a perfect holiday stay.

Nice close to everything in the south. Sometimes WiFi is advertised but it's a questionable connection, but Waterways has proper WiFi. Will want to stay longer next time to explore the island and hike more.

Waterways is a great location for a medium to short-term stay. The venue is lovely and reasonably equipped (apart from no plugs in the bedroom of our unit). Friendly, helpful owners/management. Highly recommended and ideal for a couple looking for peace and quiet while visiting Cape Town.

Everything was in order and the hostess was very helpful.
The outskirts of the Marina stand in antithesis to the loop court you find when you enter the conservation area. You can hike, paddle and fish in the complex and the lagoon. The owner was available and the check-in was easy. The apartment was comfortable, clean and had everything needed. The view over the Marina was breathtaking. The bird life was a delight to watch. The affordability of that piece of paradise means that we will definitely stay there again.
The lack of WiFi in the room makes working at night difficult. There is no hairdryer and the towels provided are small bath towels.
Was a beautiful place and very tidy. All that needs attention is the wifi. One can only catch it outside on the stoep. So if the weather is bad, there is no wifi. Or if you don't want to sit outside.

The picture on the website shows that you can sit outside and braai but it was just a room with a kitchen and bathroom and you couldn't sit outside and enjoy the sun, a bit disappointed.
A good host is one that you don't have to interact with. Everything should work without long explanations. Lesley demanded to know exactly how late we will arrive several times. It's like it's not convenient for her to have guests. The unit was fairly well equipped but the furnishings and bedding are old and could do with an upgrade. Pillows are like pancakes. TV worked the 1st night but then Lesley came into our room when we were out the next day. They apparently had to fix the TV, which then didn't work anymore. Maybe some mosquito repellant will be appreciated. The first night we were eaten alive.
Need to ensure Wi-Fi is reachable in this particular flatlet.
Generally -- a few suggestions would be to boost Wi-FI -- very intermittent. And basic requisites would have been a nice touch. We were there for 4 nights but only receiped a small container of coffee that could barely make 4 cups and no milk.

The apartment is super clean, the bed is very comfortable, cooking facilities are sufficient and the bathroom is spacious. What I especially liked was the magnificent view on the river (Vlei) and the mountains. There was also a possibilty to use Lesly's kanoe or rowing boat. Waterways is a great get away.
It's a beautiful setting, almost no traffic or noise, would go again anytime.

It's a very nice place. The parking is not covered and the vehicle must park outside under a tree, this may cause a problem. Clean, tidy, we couldn't have asked for a nicer place for our first time in the Cape.

The accommodation did not meet my expectations. The main flat was small, especially the bedroom. The cushions on the cane furniture was flat and it was very uncomfortable to sit on, we spent most of our time outside on the small patio. I did not feel that I had complete privacy either.
Very small space, but if the weather is good, there is a beautiful area overlooking the lagoon where you could spend time at. Maintenance is needed. A coat of paint, door handles on the inside of the bathroom door. Wifi very poor in the flat - you need to go outside for reception. The bedding needs to be replaced - it is very worn and has a little hole in it. No top sheet. There is no access control, but a guard standing at the entrance who allows anyone in anyway. The TV is a small box TV on a side table next to the bed. Would be great if a flat-screen could be mounted on wall so that side table can be used.
It was okay, just wasn't what I expected, but our stay was well.
False advertising. The pictures are misleading as the house is not on the lake. Invasion of privacy told that there is a closet behind the mirror, but turns out to be a separate door to the chalet where the owner entered without permission while we were there.
Well we were explained about things that was common knowledge. When we left the place at 09:30 we were told to wait outside, as in literally outside, baggage and all on the road as Lesley needed to sanitise the place and our check out was 10:00. Would've liked it if she could've done some upgrades, a very old Tv. So no thanks I will not be going there again, not worth the money.

I cannot fault the establishment in any way, however, I need to be honest in my entire assessment. Although there is a Vodacom connection, and the host explained to activate it outdoors in a specific spot, the coverage is dismal. I had to continuously buy data which was still gobbled up by poor connection. I would like to come back should I need to work and use my laptop, however, this will definitely be huge problem if the establishment cannot find a better service provider who has good coverage.

The place is suitable for older guard, not for young people. The excursions on the nature reserve were impressive. Due to Covid regulations it could have been even better, but there is a green complaint.
We travelled with our 8 year old and much older daughter. We opted for accommodation in the suburbs so that we could escape the rat race of the city bowl area. We had two adjoined flats and it worked really well. The patio right on the waterfront was superb and it was lovely to relax looking out over the water to the mountains. To make it extra special, there was a grebe on a nest in front of the patio. The environment is very safe and Lesley was very friendly and helpful. It was a very comfortable stay.
Waterways is a very nice place, we had the Main Room, which opens directly onto the water, beautiful lake, saw fish, ducks, and Scottish Terriers. Will go there again, no problem. Had a good time at The Brass Bell in Kalkbaai too.

The double bed was not up to standard at all. Just went to rest. Bathroom/toilet doors were leaky and had no handles on the inside. I/we would not recommend this unit.

We had to prepare everything outside, for example fridge very small, couldn't put anything in it, had to put our meat outside the fridge which didn't work so well either. We must have spent more time outside than inside and it was a very cold weekend plus the WiFi doesn't work inside the room. Had to sit outside in the rain. Wouldn't want to go there again, wouldn't advise people to go there either as it's not value for money.

Friendly hosts. Room was clean. Relaxing. This particular room didn't have access to the lake and to the braai. So be sure to take a portable braai with. There's also no sharp knives so be sure to pack in some sharp knives.

It was like being in a completely different place, out of the city, very beautiful and quiet.
Enjoyed the week there, very peaceful environment was a highlight. Did not like that they clean the apartment when one isn't there. Would prefer they inform us when they wanted to enter the apartment, made me feel as if they invaded your privacy. Other than that, no complaints.
The room is neat and clean. It has a good location close to the sea.
It is a neat room, but very small and little room to move. WiFi password didn't work. Need an extra blanket.
My adult son and myself thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at Waterways. Lesley is a wonderful host and made us feel most welcome. The place has constant stunning views of the lake with its rich bird life. We went scrambling with my son's scrambler (motorbike) on Park Island which was extremely enjoyable and had us taking in the whole Island without the need to walk for hours. We had the use of the pedalo and canoe at our disposal and it took us into the various waterways and little coves which was most enjoyable as well. Meals were all eaten whilst taking in the views from the stoep. We slept peacefully and honestly, can't wait to return. We did not worry about security either as the unit's location is such that makes it very secure, so we could just have absolute peace of mind while there. Next time we will explore the fishing and we have no doubt it will rate up there as being one of the best holidays ever. I shall definitely recommend Waterways to my friends, family and colleagues.

I enjoyed my stay at waterways, it has the most wonderful and friendly owners, Lesley and Roy. The place is very much clean, you feel at home once entering the place, everything is put on its place, the environment is very peaceful, no disturbance. You can do as you please, you can even take a stroll to the river nearby and do bird-watching and even paddle boat and the shops are nearby you as well. I will definitely visit again.

The flat was clean and tidy. We like the service of having clean bath towels everyday. The single beds that push together could however be replace by a double bed since they are old. Problems also with fleas in bed.
The apartment is marketed as a "Budget Flatlet" or pocket-sized apartment (such a nice description), but I think the standard and amenities are far above that and met all my expectations. The owner, Lesle, was almost over the top with her kindness and help to make it enjoyable for us. Thank you very much, we will come again to relax.

The view is fantastic, but that's where it ends. No privacy. Owner's porch and yours are one. Bed is across corridor door from owner and must stop keyhole so as not to feel someone peeping at you. Owner also in self-catering apartment if we were not there.

Extremely peaceful surroundings, comfortably furnished, everything was nice and clean. The hostess is very friendly and helpful (directions to the nearest shopping centre). Perfect place to recharge your batteries and rest.
Leslie was a great hostess and was very keen to ensure everything was OK. Would definitely recommend Waterways to friends, and it will be my first accommodation enquiry on my next trip to Cape Town.

We enjoyed our stay at Waterways very much. The cottage was clean with an adequately equipped kitchen, usual 2-plate oven combination but on a lowered countertop which I really appreciated. A comfortable dining and lounge area. Patio on the water's edge was the highlight. Our hostess was friendly and accommodating and we would love to go back again some time.
I will recommend it to anyone, it is convenient and tranquil, nature is beautiful.
The pocket-sized unit is very neat but very small and cramped. If you want to go from the room to the patio you have to walk through the bathroom/toilet. It's really very inconvenient if someone is busy in the bathroom and you want to move from the room to the patio or vice versa. The two-plate stove and braai pan are on the patio and if the weather doesn't cooperate, it's unpleasant to cook. The room is much too small to also serve as a kitchen. There are also no easy chairs on which you can relax in front of the TV - an upright strap chair and a plastic chair are used for the purpose. It's an ideal place to stay overnight, but I would definitely not recommend it for a longer stay for two people.
It was a pleasant place, we were nicely welcomed and made at home. It's just that the DStv was not as described and there are only English reading books but otherwise we were very satisfied with the stay.

We felt that the bed could be improved. The bar fridge is too small if you spend more than one night. Would be nice to have full DStv for relaxation at night after a long day. They should also mention the steps leading to the sleeping area which would not be suitable for disabled guests. Apart from that it was lovely and tranquil by the lake.
It was so neat and clean. The view over the marina was stunning. We weren't there a lot, beacuse we drove around to different towns and beaches.
I'm actually disappointed. The places appear nice although the distance from the water to me was further from the water than the photos appear on the ad. Had only one blanket to sleep under. For self-catering it is quite expensive.

We have had a terrific time at Waterways. Gentle hostesses. Perfect. The view over the lake was marvellous, the room was spacious, and the bed good. In short: A perfect place to be. Cape Town is close by, but also far away from the hussle and bustle of a big city. We can recommend it. If we are going back to SA, we would like to stay there again.

Most attractions are nearby. What a privilege it was to be home in Waterways. Leslie is truly a pleasant person. The accommodation was perfect for the few days we were in the Cape. The service was absolutely great and everything was so neat. We both had a great rest and would recommend Waterways to anyone.

We loved our accommodation as my mom was with us. She stayed in the off-water unit and had an interleading door into our unit. Lesley was an amazing host. She willingly assisted us at all times and recommended some stunning places to visit. We would definitely go back there if we go to CT again.
For short stays, Waterways was ideal. Placing the TV on a bedside cabinet was awkward. Would be better if the TV was installed on the wall. Not comfortable sitting on the bed watching TV. It's a beautiful area and you can go for a walk safely. It is also very pleasant to sit and read on the veranda next to the water and the passing canoes and ducks create a peaceful atmosphere. We had to visit the US Embassy and Waterways was conveniently located nearby.

It was very nice to be able to relax here from the pressure of the city. It's nice and quiet and we enjoyed it.
It was wonderful to be able to paddle early in the morning. They have friendly service, beautiful views and a good location. This makes Waterways a nice home for a getaway. However, the unit we were in is a bit cramped, but with a few improvements it could be set up ideally.
The space is very limited for two people. The amenities, susch as the DStv or SABC is not at all suitable for relaxation. The cooking facilities are also very limited, more suitable for people who buy their own meals not people who want to prepare their own meals. The bathroom and toilet area also very cramped.
Unit small and cramped. Stayed in a hotel last night, paid R200 more per night and it was 5 star.

We only used Waterways for sleeping accommodation. It was very nice to sit on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee and see the mountain and look over the Marina.

Nice view and good location. Centrally located. The downside is that the kitchen is not well equipped. The TV is 31cm. There is no WiFi and no DStv as advertised, but still worth the money.
Our stay at Waterways was very pleasant, and I would happily recommend it. Apart from the South East which bothered a bit (over which the owners obviously have no control), we enjoyed the stay.
The unit is clean, neat and acceptable for the current going rate for accommodation out of season. My only regret is the incorrect information on the website by Waterways advocating that the unit is furnished with full DStv. It is not true as I must request the caretaker to connect me to my channels of my choice and this is not practical as I want to watch certain programmes late at night. Another point is that the description states that there is an en suite-bathroom, the description on the web is not true as there was only a shower and no bath and the shower is not very comfortable especially with the cold weather we experienced at nighttime. Also, we noticed that there was unauthorized access into the flat when we were not present. We noticed this by our belongings that had been moved around.
The owners' warmth and kindness was wonderful for us. The accommodation was exactly what we were looking for. Everything was whole, neat and clean. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely use it again.
They must keep up their current standards.

I felt safe and I couldn't ask for a better place to stay at.friends and family seen. I tires of the place and they couldn't believe how breautiful it was and also asked that we keep contact details so they could stay too.my partner suggested the same thing as he would rather stay at Waterways for all future visits.Roy and Lesley was such great landlords and I thank them for that. Thanks Waterways it was great being there I didn't even wanna go home hehehe!

The unit is lovely. Location very convenient for southern suburbs. Very well appointed unit but needs another two pronged plug in living area. Friendly and organised owner.
Although it is a very beautiful place to stay with good security and very nice view, there were one or two negative points. As for DStv, you have to watch what the owner watches, and there is no cleaning service. Despite this, I would advise anyone to stay at Waterways at any time: it's a very beautiful place to live and environment.

Simple accommodation with the minimum of comfort. The TV is a portable with poor picture.
Roy & Lesley made us feel at home and we enjoyed our stay so much. Thank you! We felt safe and could walk wherever we wanted to. Close to the beach and all attractions.
The apartment was available before check-in time, and Lesley kindly gave us a call to let us know. When we arrived the place was clean and fresh. The outside boats were available and cleaned for us. Our time here was great, and we would definitely come back again.

The treatment, the set up and the cost effectiveness at water ways really outweighs the fact that this area may be some 25 km from Cape Town CBD. Overall waterways is commendable and practical, thanks. Although my partner and I initially had concern with travelling through the townships such as Lavender Hill when we were coming from central Cape Town on the M5, we eventually realised that it was to a very large extent safe. We also figured an alternative route of approx the same distance which is via the M3, where you will either be passing through a suburb or simply travelling on a high way.
I would recommend it to my fellow village dwellers and family members.
We enjoyed every moment we spend at Waterways. I will surely recommend the place to friends/family going down to Cape Town and looking for accommodation. It was central to the beaches and winelands.

Main waterside flatlet has its own entrance and living room with a galley type kitchen. There are 4 steps up to the bedroom section which has a double bed and separate en-suite bathroom with a shower only. Own patio leading from the living room, both have a wonderful view down the waterway to the mountains.
2 Of the units have fully equipped kitchen areas, while the Budget Flatlet has a partial kitchen facility. Each flatlet has an en-suite bathroom with shower only and TV. All linen, towels, crockery and cutlery are provided. The Main Waterside Flatlet has its own patio with table, chairs, barbecue and has a wonderful view. The Budget Flatlet has a large waterside covered patio for sitting, sunbathing and braaing. The off-water flatlet can interlead internally with the main flatlet, ideal for family or friends. It does not have a view of the water and does not have access to our waterside.
There is DStv in the Main Waterside Flatlet and Off Water Flatle, only the budget flatlet has an OVHD decoder with OpenView. This is a non-smoking establishment.

The Marina Da Gama is ideally located within minutes of historic homesteads and many recreation areas such as Constantia Valley Wine Route, Silvermine Nature Reserve, Sandy beaches with surfing lessons, Golf at nearby Westlake, Steenberg or Clovelly, 20 to 30 minutes to the center of Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront, Cape Point penguin colony at Boulders Beach and Stellenbosch Wine Routes.
