22 guests' feedbackIt was an awesome weekend. The owners are very hospitable and friendly and are helpful in all respects. The place itself is incredibly beautiful! The children enjoyed nature just as much with the 2 beautiful dogs, who walked and played together everywhere. Unfortunately, children couldn't swim in the river or pool, the weather didn't really allow it. I had my 60th family photo shoot there and can't wait for the photos!
The stay in the breathtaking nature was amazing! The fireplace and fire outside was a winner in the cold and wet weather. Thank you, Ian, for your fantastic hospitality and kindness. We can't wait to go again!
We received a great welcome. The place was clean with all that we needed. Absolutely stunning location, beautiful river and waterfall. We didn't spend enough time. 3 days minimum.
Our family's stay at the Waterwheel Country Retreat was an experience we will cherish for a lifetime. The chalet's dedication to exceptional service, cleanliness and comfort stood out, making our visit truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. Ian was professional, attentive and went the extra mile to meet all our needs. Their quick and efficient service left us free to enjoy our holiday without any worries. The chalet was a haven of cleanliness. Every corner was clean, from the common areas to our private rooms. The kitchen was well equipped, and the inclusion of a dishwasher made meal cleanup a breeze, giving us more time to relax and enjoy our stay. The provision of essentials such as clean drinking water in the taps and a stable power supply at all times was commendable. The hot water was perfectly managed, which ensured that we could enjoy a hot shower at any time of the day. The chalet was also very well equipped, providing us with everything we needed, including enough wood for three barbecues a day as well as a fireplace! Nestled among beautiful nature, the chalet offered breathtaking views that served as a constant reminder of the beauty that surrounded us. The tranquil setting was perfect for stunning hikes through misty mountains to waterfalls, creating memories we will cherish. The children also caught and released some yellowfish in the streams. An unexpected pleasure was the company of two friendly border collie dogs who naturally accompanied our nature walk. Their presence added a unique charm to our outdoor adventures. But the highlight of the chalet was its location. Against a backdrop of spectacular views and a peaceful setting, the chalet gave us the opportunity to connect with nature while enjoying the comforts of a modern home. We would highly recommend this chalet to other families looking for a relaxing and memorable holiday. We can't wait to return!
The unit is very modern and well furnished, there is even a dishwasher. The environment is beautiful and the owner is very helpful. We had a wonderful stay.
Waterwheel Country Retreat is a real gem and has a lot of potential as a guest farm. The nature is beautiful there and the unit is well equipped and comfortable. Just a pity that the water wheel was not in operation.
The whole family loves the place, the scenic views, and we were kept warm with lots of firewood. Ian has excellent customer service.
Beautiful scenery with a lovely swimming spot in the river.
It is a lovely place in nature.
Beautiful place, lovely people. Environment is breathtaking, it's just the place to sit and stare out in front of you and find yourself again and remember what is important in life.
Neat accommodation. Beautiful view. Would recommend to any family.
So much more than we expected. Amazing venue, and unbelievable personal service. Can't wait to go back.
Such a tranquil and special place to spend a long weekend!
Ian the host and his family are wonderful people, and their charity work is awesome. We enjoyed everything about the water wheel and the whole Magoebaskloof area. Disappointed that the Modjadji cycad nature reserve was destroyed in a fire and we couldn't visit the dependent falls. Will definitely return.
The view was beautiful, and the sound of the water stream was calming. The water was silvery clean and cool. We were able to fish, and my children really enjoyed swimming in the stream. Friendly Benji the sheepdog looked after us the whole time. We would be happy to recommend it. Get ready to rest and experience the beauty of creation.
Ian kept us up to date with the location and made us feel very welcome. The facilities were very good. The braai was packed with enough wood, rooms were clean, tidy and everything in its place. The outing to the waterwheel and waterfall was incredibly fun and very beautiful. The view over the river is breathtaking. Would recommend anytime.
We are very glad we were at Waterwheel. The house and furniture are very neat and in excellent condition. Fully equipped house with kitchenware, bed linen, towels, etc. for 6 people. It's a very calm and peaceful environment to relax. They also bring you as much firewood as you want - for free. Just turning off the tarmac to the entrance is 500m of bad dirt road which you have to drive carefully to avoid scraping your car at the bottom - but they were working on it when we were there.
It is an incredibly beautiful environment, we really enjoyed it.
What a wonderful place. Wish we could stay longer. Ian Tucker made us feel welcome and special every day. Until helped arrange that the Easter bunny also makes a visit. Went out of his way to tell us more about the resort and the surrounding area. The living unit is practical, spacious and clean. Very comfortable for 6 people. Would recommend the place anytime.
Excellent place to enjoy family time, and build good bonds between parent and child, as well as between children to appreciate each other.
We only stayed there one night. It's a beautiful setting and the sounds of the river create a very peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go for a walk.
We stayed in a beautiful three-bedroom (two bedrooms on the ground floor and giant open plan bedroom upstairs) house nice and secluded in nature. Can be a little cold at night in wintertime, so bring warm clothes. Very child-friendly - our kids loved it.
