The original Wayside Inn was built by Jonas Stevens, he ran the adjoining property and post cart for many years, and was well-known for his hospitality. Weary travellers could always count on a good meal and a comfy bed.
The self-catering house can accommodate up to 7 guests; the whole house is booked and not shared with any other party, making it completely private. The luxury bedroom is stunning and has been used as a Honeymoon Suite. The house contains 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, and a large dining and living area. The first bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom contains a double bed. The third bedroom contains a double bed and a single bed. All bedrooms are ensuite.
The house boasts all modern creature comforts and appliances. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, a large range stove, a toaster, a washing machine and a fridge. The living area features Easyview TV, and several board games, braai facilities and a Nespresso machine are provided. Guests just need to bring their own coffee pods along. Free limited Wi-Fi internet access is available.
The surrounding area combines sea, mountains, rivers, lakes and countryside, and is close to the beautiful beaches of the Wilderness.

At Wayside Inn we could sit on the porch and breathe! Beautiful views in a peaceful setting. Very well equipped, spacious cottage with luxury linen surrounded by a beautiful garden and farm animals. Sue is an excellent hostess and helps at any time of the day.

Very relaxed environment, the house is in good condition, everything works and you can literally arrive with your food and drinks and enjoy the complete facility offered.

The Wayside Inn cottage is picturesque, the landscape is one of the most beautiful in the country and the climate is also the best in the country. The cottage has been particularly carefully restored with antique furniture but also with all necessary modern facilities. It is neat, spacious and a lovely place to hang out is the large stoep. It was a very positive experience and we will definitely go there again. It is ideal for couples who want to be alone or for family visits or with friends. The farm is only 12 km from Wildernis past the pretty village of Hoekwil. Highly recommended and Sue was an excellent hostess. There are more than enough restaurants nearby in Hoekwil and Wildernis.
Beautiful, spacious cottage with the most beautiful furniture and lovely linen. There is also more than enough wood for the fireplace and for braai. The surroundings and nature are also very beautiful with beautiful pets, farm animals and horses. Can highly recommend it for families who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Sue is a pleasant hostess. We had a wonderful stay.
It is a large, very well equipped house in a beautiful setting. The stove in the kitchen was a lovely place to hang out.
The house is beautiful and offers everything you need for a wonderful stay. The big verandas allow for outdoor living in all types of weather - indoor fireplace for those who need it. The garden is fantastic and children have a perfect place to play. Good beds, lovely linen. Sue is the perfect hostess and of course deserves all the credit. Definitely recommend the Wayside Inn - hope to visit again.
We had the most wonderful time at this magnificently homey farmhouse. Everything is perfect, from the bedding, to the amazing "kuierstoep" around the house. We will most certainly make an effort to be back again and again. This was the best value for money I've had in a long time!
