Our stay was great, easy to find, great place to explore. The kitchen was well equipped and when we needed something, help was there nice and fast.
The place was super clean on arrival. Well prepared for our arrival and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The fireplace kept the place warm in the evening and wood was provided. Enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for two nights during the weekend. The Welbedacht Game and Nature Reserve has beautiful views of the valley and the mountains, and sometimes also some zebras and wildebeests. Also, there is an abundance of beautiful birds. The setting is very private. The road within the reserve is somewhat bumpy but manageable without a 4x4. Shops and the nearest restaurants are a bit farther away, so you should take that into account. Some of the wineries (and restaurants) in the valley are closed on Sundays, but luckily not all! No WiFi is a good thing!

It was our second time back on the farm and we really enjoyed the stay. The location and environment I think is the highlight for me. Very comfortable living, my only criticism would be that we struggled to find an additional source of light when the power went out for a while (power outage was not farm's fault). With a year having passed since we last lived at the farm, many improvements have already been made and it makes me excited to see where they are headed. With a very nice new wedding venue that they are building on the farm, I think the name Welbedacht will become very well known nationwide.
We had a fantastic time! But if I wasn't South African I wouldn't drink water from the tap, my guts weren't resistant to it. The Pine Cottage is private and has a fantastic view. Tulbagh is one nice town and there is plenty to do in the area.
It was a relaxing visit in the highest degree. Much needed pool - just needs an umbrella. Very comfortably furnished.

The reserve is beautiful, peaceful and a short drive from the city. The staff were very friendly and professional. Some maintenance work needs to be done in the unit we stayed in as it seemed that it was halfway through a remodel, which left some gaps in value for money. I'm sure this will be better in the future.
Nice in a beautiful setting.
We had a great relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle. A short manageable short-stay trip. Very nice to wake up with zebra and springbok grazing close by. There are a few houses, but they are all a distance apart with no privacy issues. It was very nice to have a bathroom for each room and proper hot water. No WiFi, no TV - what bliss! Only people we saw in 4 days were some workers cutting down the alien trees for firewood.

The place was ideal for what we were looking for, very peaceful, a bit secluded, wildlife, comfortable, and fully equipped.

Most peaceful atmosphere and nothing or nobody is close enough to bother you. The accommodation is wonderfully comfortably furnished and has everything you need to switch off and relax. The host was only a WhatsApp away when the power failed after load shedding and sorted the problem very quickly.
It would be nice if one could get a clear information map showing all the routes on the farm. Not sure if there e.g. A 4x4 route is not. There is an old card at the entrance where one receives the keys, but it is nothing serious and did not make our stay unpleasant.
Out of our entire holiday period of places to stay, I choose Welbedacht as the place I will bring my family to. The walks, value for money, friendly service, view and overall quality of the break stood out for me.
Our stay was wonderful. Extremely tranquil, quiet, beautiful and peaceful. I would just recommend the reserve maybe think about leaving some blitz with the firewood and a salt & pepper grinder would be a great touch. It did not matter to us but the WiFi didn't work. They did pre-warn us of low to no connectivity before the time. All in all a fantastic stay!

Beautiful location, the wild animals roam the farm, but not where the cottages are located. The view from the cottage was still picturesque. No aircon in the cottage, so I wouldn't recommend it in the summer. It's perfect for a very quiet, close to nature getaway.
Bed was a bit small for tall people, and the hike we did was good. However, the trails were not very well marked, and some spots were very dense with forest, so we were concerned about snakes. Definitely need more markers as we went off the hiking path a couple of times.
This is a beautiful setting and the weekend was enjoyed by young and old. Lovely walks, animals and plants to enjoy.
For the price, I expected salt and pepper, ground coffee (and not Ricoffy), and at least two washcloths. Small detail that many places have already offered for cheaper.
It was very nice and beautiful, but unfortunately small things bothered us: Some of the lights were broken, and we had to send 'grandpa' three times to come and fix them (but friendly quick follow-up). I see someone also mentioned earlier that there were only two of everything, so we had to constantly wash and rinse - one is used to at least 6 plates, knives, forks, cups, glasses, etc. The location is beautiful. On arrival when I called for the gate code a kid picked up and said we don't have the code yet because our "her mom says we haven't paid yet" (I already paid in full weeks ago) - that was not nice not. Furthermore: Delicious! Also be aware: There is no WiFi (once again, you only get used to it if you drive around a lot, all places have it these days).

We stayed in Stone cottage, nicely decorated however the cutlery and crockery only cater for 2, meaning only 2 forks, 2 knives, 2 plates etc! It would be great if there are 4 each, otherwise, we had a very relaxing time!
The rooms had beautiful, clean bedding, the rooms were big and had hot water bottles, a hair dryer, and a fan. We honestly did not expect that. The kitchen was well equipped, with everything a kitchen needs. The entertainment areas were spacious, with lots of seating and a lovely fireplace. There was an oversupply of wood to make fires. Thank you to the Welbedacht team. Much enjoyed! We went for a hike on the reserve. The zebras, horses, and bokkies were in abundance. Indeed a beautiful and stunning nature reserve. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Welbedacht. The cottage is peaceful and lovely. The views and setting is breathtaking. We were delighted by the dam where we took an early morning swim, followed a wonderful walk on a well marked path through the fynbos, it felt like an adventure!

Our stay at Welbedacht Game and Nature Reserve can only be described as unbelievable. It ticked all our boxes with regard to privacy, nature, facilities as well as simplicity. The daily visits of the wide variety of birdlife were astonishing. We could not get enough of these different winged visitors to our home. I say our home, because our cottage, Pine Cottage, felt like our home away from home. We loved the privacy of the cottage, enough space around to make you feel like you have your own cabin in the mountains. On our first night, the rustling and rumbling sounds coming out of the dark first made our hair stand on end, but after realising it was the horses, it became actually a very reassuring sound. We will visit Weldedact definitely again, just to experience it all over again.
So amazing to be in such a peaceful environment and to have the wild animals totally freely walking around. My kids loved it.
It was beautiful at Welbedacht - we will definitely want to go again! Our dog was welcome and we enjoyed it very much. There are the most beautiful flowers to be seen on the hiking trails and the animals are beautiful.

We had a very nice weekend. Rest for the soul. The reserve is very special and the hiking trails are very nice. We enjoyed swimming in the pond! And the pool on the porch is awesome. We would only suggest that mesh is put in front of the windows of the houses, there are quite a lot of flies around and they can become quite a nuisance.
It was wonderful to be able to relax in nature. Beautiful setting between the mountains. A highlight was the horses that passed near our house on Friday evening. The accommodation is neat and well equipped. Will definitely go back.
A peaceful farm atmosphere.
Had the stay very nice, the facilities were clean, my wife and children enjoyed the tranquility, my son especially thoroughly enjoyed the hiking trail. Just with regard to the walking routes, here and there just make the direction indicators more clear. We will definitely go back again.
It would be very nice to be told ahead of time that there is no WiF in the cottages, only at the main building which is a fair distance from the cottage.

A paradise for birdwatchers and a blissful silence and privacy for someone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cottage has everything one needs and was very neat. We will definitely visit again.
Eagle cottage was a very small cottage for the 3 of us, especially with the summer weather turning cool, windy and wet. The lounge is too cramped to be indoors. Other than this and being able to sit outside on the shaded patio, the cottage is well kitted and comfortable. Lots of hooks (behind doors and in bathroom), but no wardrobe or hangers for clothes, so be prepared with a few hangers. Game is limited to a small herd of zebras and springbok, 2 black wildebeest and some wild horses. Birds are abundant and we had many great sightings. We would definitely stay here again.
The lovely cottages are set in a beautiful and tranquil nature reserve. Hiking amongst the rehabilitated horses up the slopes towards the mountains was amazing. Highly recommend a stay here.
Neat accommodation with everything you need. The splash pool was a winner with the heat. The tranquility is slightly disturbed at night with the fridge making a lot of noise. An aircon might also be nice on the warm nights. Otherwise, have a great time and relax. Thank you very much.
My husband and I had a very pleasant and relaxing time. We stayed in Pine Cottage, situated under trees full of chatty, nest-building weavers. The cottage is quaint with a well-equipped kitchen and the inside fireplace warmed up the interior very nicely. We enjoyed the outside braai area and had plenty of curious, some cheeky, feathered onlookers. Unfortunately it wasn't warm enough to use the splash pool on the patio but we could imagine it would be wonderful to cool down in on hot summers days. We did plenty of walking, covered all the routes numerous times. We made a game of trying to sneak up on the swimming dam before the yellow-billed ducks would see us and fly off. Alas, they always managed to take flight before we could reach the water's edge. They weren't the only skittish ones, the impalas also kept their distance too but the zebras walked right past the cottage. Welbedacht is a birder's paradise. We saw over 40 different birds. There is some beautiful fynbos and it's great to see they are trying to get the land back to it's natural state. It was heartbreaking though to see the huge invasive species problem they have along the river where the meditation pools should be. We hope they will manage to get it all cleared eventually.
It is a very cute place, with everything you need. One feels completely isolated and the view is breathtaking. It is indeed a very small space for 4 people, especially for the price. The place is also not cleaned or serviced in any other way. On a very cold weekend, the shower was probably the most unpleasant experience, the water is very little and the water was not very hot. For the money we paid, I expected just a little bit more.
Customer service was excellent as was the accommodation. The location was beautiful with the bonus of wildlife on your doorstep.
Our winter break to Welbedacht Game and Nature Reserve was amazing. Summer break a few years ago is still fresh in our memory and is the reason for this decision! Very private, very nice setting. The cottage offers everything: fireplace with lots of wood available for a nice warm atmosphere against the winter cold and the splash pool for the summer! Very well furnished with everything you need. It was wonderful.

The Blue Butterfly is a thatched-roof barn and comprises 2 loft bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and 2 single beds with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. On the ground level, there are 5 bedrooms, each with a king size bed with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. There is a spacious lounge with a fireplace, and a fully equipped farm-style kitchen with seating for 18. Outside is a large covered verandah, swimming pool, gardens and private braai and boma facility. An additional per person fee is payable for more than 10 guests.

Accommodation is offered in self-catering cottages, tucked away among pine trees and fynbos, and situated in a natural and tranquil environment. These cottages are all well-spaced for privacy and have shaded verandahs with mountain water plunge pools, indoor log fireplaces, and built-in braai facilities outside. All linen, towels, and firewood are provided.
Close by are guided horse trails that meander through orchards and vineyards as well as venues for wine and olive tasting. While here, explore the historic town of Tulbagh with its beautiful architecture and a range of restaurants and vineyards.
