Wonderful stay - everything in place! So warmly received, I was immediately at home. A big plus is that the beautiful place is not in the center of town - no main road noise, even though it's only 2 km from town. Hostess has so much knowledge of the area and paid special attention to information to discover the most beautiful and best of the town. The breakfast was certainly very tasty and nutritious.
We always enjoy staying at Welgevonden. The garden is beautiful and the hostess gracious. The breakfasts are delicious, and the setting and ambiance are peaceful and tasteful. We have stayed here previously and will always return!

It was an excellent two day stay. We enjoyed it very much. The location is very good, the garden with all the plants and birds was phenomenal! Not to mention the delicious breakfast! Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Everything went smoothly. Everyone at Welgevonden was very helpful, including when I had an unplanned problem involving my car. Breakfast was excellent, and my room was very comfortable.
The room was comfortable, and the flowers in the room were a nice touch. I was just disappointed that there wasn't a tea/coffee station in the room, and I had to traipse to the communal kitchenette in my PJs for my early morning cup of tea. I should have read the description of the property properly.
Kitchen facilities completely inadequate and shower floor needs a scrub.

Very cute place. Perfect for our short stay. Literally walking distance to restaurant and wineries. Breakfast was incredibly tasty with a very nice view of the garden. Staff very friendly and we chatted too long and had too much fun.

Our hostess, Briette, was so welcoming, thoughtful and, wow, her breakfast was top notch! The garden was charming, the property within walking distance of town, and Mila, their dog, stole our hearts. It was a very special experience. Sorry we couldn't spend another day there!
We spent the night here before a 3 day cycling tour. We also left our vehicle here for when we return. Briette received us kindly and we had a great time that evening. The breakfast, with some homemade surprises, was top notch. On our return we were dirty, wet and full of mud. Without our asking, Briette offered us a hot shower, clean towels and hot chocolate before we started the road back — and that at no extra cost! We just want to say: thank you very much!

Welgevonden is an unexpected little gem. Although I was traveling and only stayed overnight, my stay there made me feel that I want to plan a holiday in Calitzdorp next time.

Beautiful and safe overnight stop on the way home. The hostess received us kindly. The accommodation was comfortable, neat and clean. The breakfast the next morning was out of the books.
More than we expected, there's so much to do and see in Calitzdorp. The location of Welgevonden Guest House is a boon for the traveller seeking a quiet, yet characterful stay. Highly recommended.

Very peaceful and in a beautiful area, only had one scare two large lizards from the roof by the TV room, was quite bad if you have a phobia like me, but otherwise interesting. If you like dogs, like me, then there is the cutest dog, Miela. Will definitely visit the place again. Breakfast was perfect.
All amenities and facilities are there that one needs. Breakfast offered is top notch, more than just the usual.

Welgevonden is conveniently located near the town, but there is a peace and quiet where you can only hear the church bell. I used the swimming pool in the beautiful garden to cool off. Briëtte thought of literally everything - and more - when furnishing the rooms. Even the wood and fire lighters were provided when we indicated that we wanted to have a barbecue one night. When we left, we also received a free bottle of apricot jam that Briëtte had cooked that morning.

The visit took me back to my childhood and the porch room where I slept on my Grandmother's farm during the holidays. We were a group of 5 adults and 2 children under 2 - and the accommodation was absolutely lovely and ideal for our needs - which speaks volumes in itself! The shared kitchen is also equipped with everything you could need and there is a delicious barbecue area. It was definitely value for money. Moreover, we were received with such hospitality - I recommend Welgevonden without reservation.

This accommodation is located on a farm road, but is so close to the town, you can hear the church bell! Very comfortable and close to the road. Very friendly hostess who baked us delicious muffins in the morning.

We have stayed a number of times and enjoy the quaint rooms. It’s useful to note that there is a lounge available for guests and a kitchenette with basic cooking families and a fridge.
Rooms are very comfortable, but have no TV in room, have to share the kitchen and living area with all the guests.

Upon our arrival, Briette warmly welcomed us and accompanied us to our accommodation. She advised us to good restaurants in the area and provided us with good information. At night there is an alarm and we still had access to the kitchen. We were completely reassured and able to park our car in a safe area. Beautiful interior as well as breathtaking garden. Right choice for your break away from a stressful place. Briette provides the best breakfast and fresh juice!

Now that was fun. Slept warm, friendly service. The benches and seats in the garden are perfect for drinking that cocktail or glass of port while the sun goes down. Friendly people! Will definitely stop by here again! Note that they only accept cash for payment of the outstanding amount, but in Calitzdorp there are enough ATMs so it's not a problem.

Only small problem was the soft bed.
We used Welgevonden as a base to visit the KKNK. It was a great choice. The accommodation and hospitality of Briette (the hostess) was wonderful! The breakfast we received was the best I have ever enjoyed in a guest house! Unconditional recommendation!
We were at Welgevonden Guest House for three nights, on recommendation by friends. It was simply wonderful! Briette's famous breakfast turned out to be even better than that. Every day a new, carefully and lovingly chosen detail, a steamed fruit with the muesli, a new combination of egg, tomato and spinach roll or smoked ostrich carpaccio. Our hosts also gave very good recommendations of what to see and where to go, not too much, not too little. We had a fantastic trip over the Swartbergpass and through Meiringspoort, through Seweweekpoort, Kruisrivier and in the whole area. We will come back!
Lovely address for a few nights. WiFi is weak and only nearby or in the breakfast room. Everything else is really great. There is coffee, tea, a fridge and magnetron for shared use.
The only comment besides what is mentioned above is - I found the mattress too soft.

It was really a privilege to be able to stay in such a cute place. Rooms are clean, tidy and have enough space - also nice warm blankets for the Karoo cold! The owner really put effort into the accommodation and the breakfast was top notch. We will definitely return and have already recommended friends to Welgevonden Gastehuis.
I was surprised by the beautiful old fashioned room and the location. It was so nice to sit on the wide porch and all you hear are the birds. Briëtte and her staff are also particularly hospitable and helpful.

We were five people as a family and were pleasantly surprised by the oasis in the dry Calitzdorp. We were in the area for two days and enjoyed it immensely. The breakfast was wonderful and the visit to nearby wine farms extremely enjoyable.
It was the most delightful experience at Welgevonden - a true loop court. Most beautiful gardens to relax in, extremely friendly service and delicious breakfast.
We spent one night at the guest house and it was a very nice experience. You definitely get value for your money. The hostess was very helpful and pleasant. The facilities were fantastic and we had everything we needed. Breakfast was very pleasant. Calitzdorp is a bit out of the way, but if we're there again, I wouldn't hesitate to book there.
Bathroom had space for toothbrush etc. bags, fine decor, beautiful surroundings and accommodation and delicious breakfast. Highly recommend.
