We had a really nice stay. The place was beyond our expectations. The hostess is excellent, comfortable and helpful. The surroundings are beautiful and there is little enough to do that you need to switch off and rest. There are nice places to walk and it is safe. She has good quality linen, which is always a plus for me.
It is a great place, no noise or traffic, just able to relax. An amazing host. I will return.

Beautiful veranda with a view, everything you need to have a wonderful holiday. The accommodation is so beautiful with fine finishing and the kitchen is very well equipped. This was our second visit to the accommodation and we will definitely book again.
Gerda went out of her way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We had such a relaxing time here and will stay here again. My dogs really enjoyed it too. We could walk a long way and rest.

It was so nice to be able to go back and visit Gerda-Marè's West Coast House again. Apartment 4 had a lovely private balcony with a nice view of the sea and the cottages were very well appointed with everything you need and more! Gerda is always so friendly and helpful. We and our children always enjoy being able to stay there and will certainly check in with her every time we are in Jacobs Bay.

The porch has a screen that deflects the worst of the wind. A lovely hot shower in the unit. A nice view of the sea. In the evening, beautiful sunsets can be witnessed from the veranda. You hear the roar of the sea at the West Coast House.

Already from early in the morning Gerda was in contact with us, and she kindly welcomed us on arrival (which was later than planned). The unit is excellently equipped and has a nice view, and one could easily holiday here for a week. Gerda also helped with information about places to eat and walking routes - it was really a very nice experience. We will definitely stay here again - highly recommended!

Jacobsbaai is one of the less developed villages on the West Coast, but still very beautiful and special in its own way. The village is nicely centrally located between Saldanha and Vredenburg, it's 5 minutes away from the West Coast Mall and it's easy to drive from there to Paternoster or Langebaan for the day should you want to experience one of the larger, more popular parts of the West Coast. The unit we stayed in is part of one large house that has been divided into smaller self-catering sections and even though it is one house we definitely had our own privacy. The unit is on the top floor with its own entrance, a large comfortable veranda with a built in braai, hammock and an old fashioned wooden table and chairs set where we enjoyed our breakfast and where we sat barbecuing until late one night has. The house inside is also very comfortable and big enough for a couple or a small family, very practically laid out and clean with a real relaxing feel to it. I love the big windows in the building with the skylights that make the whole place feel much bigger than it is. Even the finished concrete "open box" section in the kitchen, which is filled with everything you could need, gives character to the place. If you fancy a break from 'the grown-up world' and want rest for your soul, Jacobs Bay is the perfect area, the environment is quiet, the West Coast House is walking distance from the sea and about 2 minutes' drive from where we stayed is there is a beautiful beach, a restaurant overlooking the sea and even a section for fishing. And I must also add this house comes with a very lovely owner, friendly and helpful, but she was never in our space either.

The Weskushuis is the perfect getaway spot to just relax and enjoy the scenery. Gerda and Loesie went out of their way to make us and our 2 yorkies feel at home. She also pointed out a few places that were a must visit. She kept us informed of any happenings and shared all interesting anecdotes with us. She is for sure the perfect hostess and the units are all very tasteful and spotlessly clean. A true West Coast experience. Our unit was very spacious, more than we expected and pet friendly. The beaches are clean with powdery sand on one side and rocks on the other. We definitely recommend the West Coast House and will definitely stay there again! Gerda, thanks for everything! Apartments are very well equipped, neat and clean. Very nice atmosphere and incredibly beautiful surroundings. We were 4 families with small children and everyone enjoyed themselves.
West coast house no 2: Cosy, quick home. Nice outdoor barbecue under roof, with a view of the sea and sunset. Close to coastal walks. Nice 2 large sofas that ensure evenings of conversation or stretching out in front of TV, lazy. Very clean and tidy. PS Indoor fire also possible. One room downstairs with en suite and the same upstairs. Large table on the porch at the braai as well as inside. Large fridge.

Loved our stay there. Gerda was a wonderful hostess, very friendly and informative. The guesthouse we stayed at was number 4 with a lovely patio are and braai, looking out towards the ocean. Everything and more is in the guesthouse including coffee, plunger, tea, milk, sugar and washing up utensils. The only thing we found was that the bedroom was not very soundproof upstairs as we could hear our next door neighbours. But, that said, we will definitely highly recommend it!

I would suggest that the unit is better suited for two adults and 2 children because the fact that the bathroom doesn't have a door and sofa bed for 3rd person is a bit uncomfortable, but other than that we had a very nice stay!

Jacobsbay is absolutely stunning. It is like a little world on its own. Weskushuis had everything we needed, very neat! Pets are allowed but the accommodation isn't fenced therefore it isn't entirely pet friendly also not entirely private because the units are attached so you will be hearing your neighbors and vice versa, luckily we had accommodating neighbors. We made the most of our time in Jacobsbay, the ocean was glorious!

Gerda received us kindly. The unit has everything and more. I was able to take my 2 yorkies with me and yard is securely fenced, especially at the back, so dogs can't escape. We had a great time and Jacobsbaai with its dusty streets and tranquility, we will definitely see again.

Even with 2 mattresses together, it was impossible to sleep. The bathroom shower has black mould. The place needs a good scrubbing, it's clearly only cleaned in front. Thick dust and cobwebs behind furniture against the wall. Very bad to inhale the dust, because it is right next to the head end of the single beds in the living room.

The place is very very nicely decorated. Easy to live in. The outdoor barbecue is top notch. Everything was nice and clean. The hostess was very friendly. Waking up to the sound of the waves was amazing.
Something that could be improved, but is not a must is that there might be a small table by the chair in front of the mirror, my wife had difficulty blowing her hair and doing make-up without a small table. Maybe also a small side table at the foot of the bed. Wonderful place.

Jacobsbaai, is a beautiful and restful destination, magical for both adults and children, with a very friendly community. The Pixie garden at the backpackers lodge is a must see for anybody, you will never see anything like that anywhere else in the world. The spring flowers that we saw growing near the beaches were absolutely breathtaking and the beaches were beautiful.

The cottage can accommodate two people, is very clean and tidy and has everything one could possibly need. It is centrally located in a quiet and safe area and walking distance from the beach. And it being dog-friendly is a bonus! I recommend Jacobs Bay and the West Coast House with great boldness.
We went as a family to visit friends at West Coast house, what an experience, the units were perfect for our purposes, we stayed in units 2 and 3 for the weekend. Everything was there, we just visited from early day till late evening. It was so quiet, hiking along the many coves, and the whole village is clean and really resting for the soul. A weekend has like a long holiday feeling. Thank you, Gerda, for the time at home, we will definitely do it again.

Slept very well! Lovely bedding. Spacious shower. Kitchen is part of the living area and all the basics are there, apart from clothes pegs to hang a wet towel outside? (Perhaps it was hidden somewhere?) Cooking and cleaning up happens just like that in the company, as it should. Good braai fireplace on the stoep, just bring enough braai wood. The fridge is huge and there was already enough ice. We had to babysit, so the DStv and WiFi were very convenient. The hostess is friendly, available and hospitable. We would love to visit Jacobs Bay again.

Our accommodation was private, neat and safe, with the most beautiful view of the sea and coastal village. Everything you need to make a delicious meal in the kitchen. The balcony with its braai, perfect for a leisurely stroll. We will definitely visit again!

We had a lovely time in the Weskushuis' Apartment number 2. The place was very cutely furnished and it was spotless and tidy. One can just see the sea from the porch and is walking distance from the sea. The kitchen really had everything we needed - I was very impressed with the steak knives and sparkling wine glasses. It may need to be communicated to people that there are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the second bedroom - anyone who has difficulty with stairs will not be able to sleep in the room. The beds are comfortable, but definitely not king size. There are also no heaters or electric blankets, but there are hot water bottles. It was very cold in the evenings. I would have appreciated it if the place had at least provided some wood - at least just enough for one barbecue. At least we were able to get wood and make a nice indoor barbecue and fireplace.
The unit was everything that was promised. It is quiet and very private and well equipped.

We had a lovely stay in unit no 2. It's clean and tidy, good value for money and has all the facilities you need. Unfortunately there were only 2 large bath towels (not 4), but we managed with the 2 large ones and 2 small ones. I'm sure it was by mistake! All that bothered me was the fact that it doesn't mention very clearly on the website that no 2 and 3 (which are right next to each other) share a long stoep and therefore there is little privacy if both parties are barbecuing at the same time on either side of the stoep. There has been an attempt at some type of partition with hanging poles/branches, but it is not at all sufficient for privacy and I think it would be nice to have a more semi-permanent structure here. Nevertheless, I would easily stay here again. Lovely fireplace inside the house and walking distance from the sea.
We stayed in unit 2, everything was as we expected except just the TV that made a buzzing noise all the time. Very nice house for summer or winter.
We would recommend your service at any time and likewise for Weskushuis. We had a great time. We didn't see the other units but the one we were in was fine. Although all the information about the water bear sparing was posted in the bathroom, it would have been good to have been informed in advance.

The double bed mattress was weak, as was the wooden bed on which my little girl had to sleep. It is cardinal that mattresses can sleep well. The toilet did not have a lid. No soundproofing and the guests below could be clearly heard. Especially the shower and bathroom matters. It wasn't nice. It said that there was DStv, which was not the case. Then perhaps the most important also is the fact that it is not said that no. 4 extremely steep stairs do not have. What if it was the elderly? They wouldn't be able to master the stairs.

I had a good time at Weskushuis. My mom and I decided to break away from the city noise. Weskushuis was ideal. We found everything needed to stay comfortable. Apartment 1 was a nice one bedroom place. I just have to mention that I did not find the pull-out sofa very comfortable, and it took quite a bit of time to figure out how to flatten the thing. I would also have preferred to get a duvet for the sofa, instead of the thick blanket. Because every "two people" who book a place together is not a couple. The surroundings are wonderfully beautiful. It's mostly pristine. You can feel and hear the silence. It's a place where you don't see too many other people, you hear the birds, the sea and the wind. Since there are not many people, there is also only a small convenience store, but both Saldanha and Vredenburg are around the corner if you want to go shopping. When you are in Saldanha, go to the Cha-cha Takeout Meals and get a delicious fresh baked vetkoek. The people in the West Coast are just one of the reasons to visit. Everyone is friendly, even the younger people still greets you. It was truly one of the best breaks I've ever had.
Very comfortable and homely. However, being winter, we needed to use the indoor fireplace, but could not as the whole place filled up with smoke. Maybe extending the chimney would resolve the problem.

Absolutely loved the decor/ furniture in the apartment. The accommodation is also near the mall, which is quite convenient. You may wish to consider the following suggestions below to make the guests more comfortable: Provide an iron and an iron board. All guests' clothing are packed in a suite case and bound to be creased. Arrange to briefly welcome/ meet with the guests.

The house is rented to us as 5 beds, sofa bed in the living room. The sofa bed is very old, worn out and it was even impossible for my 20 kg, 7 year old to lie on it. Mercifully, we were able to make a bed on the other living room sofa. I really don't know how they can expect anyone to sleep on that sofa bed, even sitting is uncomfortable. The two sheets provided were not even the same color. There was a mosquito plague, unfortunately no Doom in sight. At 02:00 I considered looking for an open Engen store, but decided against it.
Broken toilet seat, but otherwise everything was fine. Confusion with unit booked. No. 1 on booking form, but unit already had people in, and we stayed in unit 4 then.
Well equipped, but toilet lid and light were broken. Struggled a lot to check in. Well located.

An unexpected discovery of Pixie's fairy garden, a kid who walks through the streets unbothered and comes for a spin in the garden, guinea fowls carelessly scratching opposite for food and of course the tranquility by the waters while we water a line. If peace and quiet is your dream, Weskushuis is just the place for you.
Our stay at Weskushuis was incredibly nice. We could not have asked for better. We were warmly welcomed and after that everything was nice.
Was really impressed with the cleanliness and the well equipped kitchen. We just weren't aware that the second bedroom was upstairs. It was quite a challenge for us.

Truly a gem off the beaten track where one can truly relax and unwind. The fridge was just extremely noisy in the unit which made sleeping a challenge. Only 1 roll of toilet paper for 3 day stay had to find staff member for more. Otherwise everything was truly amazing.
We will definitely use Weskushuis again. It tranquillity and easy location to ocean with its views are brilliant and setting very cosy.

I felt at home from the moment I walked into Weskushuis and spent the weekend relaxing and visiting.
Stayed in unit 2. The stairs to the upper room are very steep, but were not a problem for the children. Neat, comfortable accommodation & space for 4 people. I understand the property was between owners while we stayed there, so perhaps issues (such as the mini oven not working properly) were not sorted out? At least it was more uncomfortable than a crisis, so would still recommend the place and stay there again myself anytime.

If I could perhaps suggest putting some wood under the fireplace or offering it for sale. We had to drive to Mossel Bay to buy wood.

Beautiful view and sounds of the ocean from the top unit, and evening sunsets. Totally tranquil and serene getaway. Comfortably equipped for two adults. Enjoyed the braai facility. A minutes walk from the rocky beach where one can stroll and admire the coastline. Weskus Mall conveniently a 5 min drive away. Recommendation: extra bins for recycling material, e.g. bottles, plastic, tins, kitchen waste.
On arrival they wanted to squeeze us into an apartment where we had to climb about 20 stairs despite my express request for no stairs. Then they gave us an apartment where every room had a staircase to enter. The stairs to the toilet were so high that my wife could not get in without help. It was just a disappointment.
The cottage is very comfortable for a married couple, but certainly not for 3 adults who had to share 1 bathroom without doors. Our 87 year old mother got the bedroom and was very indignant that we had to share a bathroom with her room and there is no door. The couch was very uncomfortable to sleep on, especially if you have to share it. It was very cold and we made a fire inside the first night. Within seconds the whole place was covered in smoke. The smoke only went out of the hearth if the door was wide open. We couldn't understand why there were so many flies, and this in the winter, until I went to throw the garbage bag into the bin under the carport and discovered that someone had thrown large fish bones, skins and heads into the bin just like that. It smelled awfully bad! The power plugs not working the second morning was also inconvenient, but was fixed fairly quickly. The cottage is very well equipped for 2 people sharing, but certainly not for more.
We stayed in Weskushuis Apartment 1, and we are very satisfied, we will definitely go again, the apartment is comfortable and very "homey". There is everything you could possibly need, and a lovely braai area. So close to the sea, but nice and quiet and safe.

Weskushuis is the ideal place to stay for a weekend or a holiday to get away from the hubbub. It offers well equipped accommodation with great furniture, a television and radio for the TV watchers and music lovers. It is also close to the sea and has a friendly host. Jacobs coffee, tea, milk, apples, fresh, white towels, hand cream and liquid soap is provided. We could really recommend this very affordable place.

Unfortunately, the space is too small to do justice to the description of our weekend. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome in the "earthy" character of our spacious unit (Number 1). We didn't spend much time in the unit but everything was tasteful and comfortable. My only "complaint" might be that the large sofa in front of the fireplace is a little too hard for my taste.
The house is beautiful with a lot of detail. We had a great stay.
We really enjoyed our stay! I crowned everything with 5 stars because that's what my soon-to-be gave me! We will be there again in September to appreciate the silence. The place was well laid out and everything was available as pre-booked. I would recommend anyone to stay there!

3. Plumbing/Electrics/Appliances: Please use water sparingly. Please be considerate when it comes to the use of the plumbing and electrics. Kindly switch off most lights when not in a room and ensure the outside lights for your unit are switched off in the morning. Please switch off all appliances when checking out. No generators, inverters, batteries, heaters, etc. allowed on the premises without prior arrangement. There will be extra costs involved.
4. Pets: Some pets are allowed with prior arrangements. No pets are allowed on any of the furniture. Please bring their own beds, bowls, etc. Please pick up their poop on a regular basis, put it in a waste bag and dispose thereof. Do not throw it in the plants, please.
5. Braai/entertainment facilities and rules: Each unit has a private braai. Make fires only in places provided. No fire is permitted in the firepit if it’s windy, due to the artificial lawn. Please do be considerate towards our town/neighbours/guests when it comes to noise levels. No loud music is permitted. No noise after 22:00. No fireworks to be let off on or around the property.
6. Smoking/Alcohol: Smoking is permitted on the verandas and outdoors. Ashtrays are provided, so again please do not throw your cigarette butts, alcoholic beverage or anything else for that matter, in the garden or on the plants. Kindly do not smoke in the units.
7. Garden and Surroundings: Please do not throw stones on the front lawn. The boat is old and there are loose planks, rusty screws, etc. in other words it is not a playground for kids.
8. Loss or Damage to Establishment Property: The guest is liable for any loss or damages (excluding wear and tear) to the property of the establishment. Please do not run in the units or climb on the furniture.
9. General Incapacity: The establishment cannot be held liable if any of the following events or conditions prevents them from fulfilling my obligation to guests. The manager/owner will take all reasonable steps to minimise disruption and discomfort to guests under
these conditions.
• Unanticipated interruption to the electricity, water, sewage to, from or on the guest house property.
• Industrial action, civil uprising or criminal activity.
• Fire, frost, flooding, subsidence or any other force major event.
10. Limit to Liability: The maximum liability of the establishment for any event or condition for which a guest may institute a claim is limited to the value of one day’s accommodation. Please do not hesitate to contact the manager immediately should you observe or experience anything that does not meet your expectations.
11. The breakage deposit includes a cleaning fee.

Apartment 2 features two bedrooms suited to accommodate up to 5 guests in total. The main bedroom and second bedroom (upstairs) both feature queen-size beds with en-suite bathrooms fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The unit also comes equipped with an open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining area with an inside fireplace. The unit also features a sleeper couch in the lounge. This unit makes use of solar power.
These self-catering apartments are fully equipped with everything you would need to ensure a relaxed holiday in luxurious surroundings, only a few minutes walk from the sea.
Weskushuis consists of 4 fully furnished, self-catering apartments each with a private entrance, and a patio with braai facilities, a well-equipped kitchen with microwave, Cadac gas stove, tea- and coffee-making facilities, quality linen, towels, and a smart TV for streaming DStv and Netflix.
Jacobsbaai is a small, picturesque village on the West Coast with mostly gravel roads and charming West Coast-style cottages. It is in close proximity to Vredenburg, Saldanha, Veldrift, Paternoster, Langebaan, Club Mykonos and West Coast National Park.
The interesting coastline offers peninsulas, rocky and sandy bays, fynbos and birdlife. Jacobsbaai offers the visitors opportunities to fish, dive, sail, go canoeing go for long scenic walks or just relax on the rocks with sundowners.
