Fantastic view, nice fireplace for the cold days. If I could make one suggestion, it is that the TV does not pick up anything and there is no option to do your own "streaming" to the TV. So for long visits the evenings will be very long. We lacked nothing else.
We had a very nice stay. The place has everything one needs, except WiFi, but we enjoyed the time. It is well appointed and comfortable, with the most beautiful view. We will definitely return again in the future.

Great stay, guests should read and know that they have to drive where they want to be. Fantastic view, the weather doesn't always cooperate in the winter months, but with a fireplace, indoor braai and pool table you can't complain. It was also a great privilege that there is solar, so no load shedding and we could watch rugby and tennis. Thank you for your hospitality.
The owner went to great lengths to inform us of all the attractions and restaurants. The Orca apartment was also available and she gave us a choice whether we still wanted to stay in the booked smaller apartment or whether we wanted to stay in the Orca apartment, which was bigger and had a very nice view of the sea. We paid the difference in price and stayed in the Orca apartment. The view was breathtakingly beautiful and we can recommend Whalewatchers anytime.
Had to find accommodation in Struisbaai at very short notice. Fortunately, Whale Watchers was still available. Had a great stay. No problems encountered. Was kindly received and shown the facilities. We mostly ate out and didn't use kitchen facilities. Just gas stove to make coffee and it all worked. Very nice stay.
Neat residential unit with a lovely sea view. Ideal for people who like to stay at home and appreciate a nice view. All amenities are available; a stove, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine, indoor grill etc. Two full bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms.

Pros: The Blue Whale flat is very affordable, light and airy, and very well equipped with appliances. (Especially the washing machine and tumble dryer were much appreciated!) The street is quiet and safe, and the view from the balcony is absolutely spectacular. Cons: the Blue Whale flat is at the top of a very steep flight of stairs, so I would not go there with small children or anybody who is not 100% able-bodied. Also, the way that the individual flats on the property (4 in total) are arranged places you in very close proximity to the hosts and the other occupants. (This was a con for me, but if this type of thing does not bother you, go ahead.) The Wi-Fi signal was too weak to use and the DSTV seems to have been disconnected.
Beautiful view and nice and spacious for children to play. However, some of the fittings and decor need some TLC and renovation. The en suite toilet did not work and the curtain was also moldy and torn.
We were a couple of friends away for the weekend. The purpose for our getaway was for tranquility and to be away from home just a bit. Whale Watchers was the ideal location, with the ocean you can hear in the near background. The only suggestion I would make is maybe to turn on wifi.

On arrival hostess after unlocking and showing place mentioned that I still have an outstanding amount. Mentioned to her it was already settled 4 days before our arrival. Think it's something she needs to clear up before asking her guests for it. There are no braai facilities as indicated. We didn't have a problem with the mobile braai being at the bottom of the stairs. But there was none at all. Hostess wanted to offer us a Weber. The "dry walls" are a total no-go. We could hear everything going on in the adjoining unit's bathroom. Refrigerator was not cleaned. Old ice still in the freezer section. In the end we had to drive in and out of town for the whole weekend to get something to eat. Had to take our meat and barbecue back home. Weekend turned out to be much more expensive than planned.
Electrical fault, dripping taps, knifes blunt unable to cut anything, main bathroom toilet difficult to flush, dustbin no lid, furniture in lounge old and worn, fridge freezer part drawers cracked and broken, toaster does not pop up toast, have to dig it out with knife.
The kitchen was very well equipped. We will go to Whalewatchers again, we were warmly received.

Close to the southernmost tip of Africa, the lighthouse and museum is a must see, and easy to get to Arniston to see the Waenhuiskrans Cave. Of course the beaches are quite nice.

Owner of the accommodation was so helpful. They live on the premises but you don't even see or hear them. Everything was convenient for all of us. We are most definitely going back there again. The place was clean and very modern. They have everything you need and more. The only thing we needed was our food. The location is perfect for doing sightseeing, they also provided us with brochures and maps of the surrounding area. We felt very welcome.

My husband and I loved our stay at Whale Watchers! We brought the boat along - he went fishing while I enjoyed the beautiful scenery! It is an easy walk down to the coastline, close proximity to shops, beach and lighthouse. We enjoyed the accommodation, fireplace and of course, the pool table. Will definitely be back.

I was staying at the Whale Watchers and my staying was amazing in Struisbaai. You can tell the owner of this place, it was amazing.
We were pleasantly surprised with the Orca unit. The view is beautiful and one can sit for hours on the veranda and look at the sea. The pool table was a big winner for our kids. The indoor barbecue & TV also contributed to our wonderful visit.
Had a great time. Pool table was great entertainment for the teenagers. View from the books. Problem with DStv was quickly sorted out by owner, kudos to her! We will definitely visit there again!
Fantastic sea holiday as we were entertained daily by the whales blowing fountains of water and slapping their tails to make the foam splash. The dolphins didn't keep them waiting either and had a great time frolicking in the water. The seagulls came to sit on the balcony and watch us and the world. The clear sea water with clear green and blue ocean currents and the sparkling white waves that we saw from the apartment, impressed us so much that we decided to buy a plot for retirement in Agulhas. The apartment in Whale Watchers gave us the opportunity to look at the sea 24/7 from the living room or even while lying in bed. We can confidently recommend Whale Watchers to anyone who wants to experience an unforgettable time by the sea, at the southern tip of the continent.

This is a place that I would go back to again and again, summer, autumn, winter or spring. One of the best places I have ever stayed in.
We enjoyed this apartment with its gorgeous sea views. Our hosts were very helpful. A small suggestion: with coastal places, they can get a damp odour. Maybe it would be advisable to open the apartment up for a few hours to try and alleviate this problem.

Nice quiet weekend in Struisbaai. Apartment had very nice views and a good size! The beds needed some attention (slept through), but everything was clean and well equipped.
Place congested too much furniture in the living room area. Braai not working so well ─ smoke stayed indoors. Windows and window sills require a wash as wel as the mats in the main bedroom. Otherwise a perfect view. Would certainly return. We stayed in Orca.
The view was amazing although I think I could have found a much better place for the same price. The overall feel of the place was old and neglected. I can understand that it is by the sea, but with parents and parents-in-law who have lived in Struisbaai for 30+ years, I can't justify that everything in the bathrooms was rusted. I feel that the owners only rent out and aren;t putting any money back into the accomodation to maintain the place. The braai grills were filthy, there is no other word to describe it. The previous people's pieces of meat were still stuck in the grid. I know some people burn it off, but for me it was unacceptable. We went to buy oa very expensive braai grid. The television did not pick up the OpenView decoder at all. Fortunately, we took an HDMI cable with us to stream movies from our laptop. With that we could at least watch the news. After day two, however, we accidentally found the notice that we should not use wood in the fireplace/braai, just charcoal. It was one of my deciding factors when I saw the fireplace. It's almost winter in Struisbaai and the fireplace will be cosy. With charcoal, I don't think so. So I suggest that it be clearly indicated on the website. I will definitely not recommend Whale Watchers to anyone I know.
We booked with Whale watchers and got Minke Wales! A tiny unit. The place is divided into 3. Between you and your neighbors are dry walls! The stairs are extremely dangerous if you have to walk up there with luggage. Wooden stairs still under construction. Only entrance to your unit! Letter under stone says yes, at your own risk. There is a barbecue but no other facilities such as a table or chairs. No working TV! No Wi-Fi. Shower distressed little! Poor quality kitchen equipment. Microwave above your head and looks like something exploded inside! Curtain in front of kitchen window so small that you lie all night looking at the street light and traffic lights. Bitterly unpleasant experience. Little Wales we never see again! Electrical wiring was sub-standard as a bunch of wires hung down next to the fridge. Electric wall plug in the bathroom!
It was our first vacation on Struisbaai and we'll definitely go there again and again. Not just the accommodation, but everything is great with friendly people.
