Whaleback was the most comfortable, neatest, cleanest, safest guest house on our three week tour of Namibia. Absolutely amazing.
We really had a great time. Upon arrival we were surprised to see how well equipped the unit was. The sea and waves that you can see from the living room make for a special experience. The areas are spacious, lots of closets, and we would recommend it anytime. WiFi was good enough to get IT work done.

The property is located on the northern end of Swakopmund, about 5km away from where people visit the beach and the most popular restaurants and shops are, but there is a mall about 1km away where you can do some standard shopping and you can walk along the beach from there to the most popular part of town (a very pleasant 4km walk). Since it is a fair distance from the popular part of town, it is an incredibly quiet, relaxing place to spend a few hours during the day or to enjoy an indoor braai in the late afternoon/early evening. There are a lot of properties in close proximity to one another in this part of Swakopmund, but everyone seems to respect the fact that people are there to enjoy a relaxing time and are not there to party, so we barely heard our neighbours at all. We mainly just heard the sound of the ocean and people playing on the beach when we had the big doors at the front of the property wide open. The property itself is nicely spacious, elegantly kitted out, and was sparkling clean when we arrived. It is obvious that a lot of care and attention has gone into making sure that every guest feels like they are at home when they visit. We did have some noise trouble with the builders next door whilst we were there, and whilst this definitely tainted our visit, it also gave us an opportunity to experience the excellent customer service from the people that we were in communication with. Within 20 minutes or so of us contacting our hosts the bulk of the noise subsided. It still wasn't ideal, but we were impressed with the speed of the response. We very much enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be recommending this property to friends and we will definitely be looking this property up when we next need accommodation in Swakopmund.
Where to start... Lovely open and spacious living area, secure parking in a tandem garage (if you would prefer to come with 2 vehicles), spotlessly clean, organized, a variety of interesting reading material for those who don't want to be in front of the television sit or want to stare over the roofs of the houses at the sea, crisp bedding and quality mattresses and then a warm owner on top of everything. All the small details are taken care of so that there is really nothing you can miss and you are made to feel welcome and pampered as soon as you walk in. There really is nothing to improve on, 10/10!
Tandem garage, 2 king size beds, double storey, gas stove, DStv, percolator, normal boiler and gas stove boiler. They provided us with 1 l of milk, a bottle of wine, fine coffee, cleaning products, so it's very convenient, very nice and we enjoyed it very much! And it's walking distance to the sea! Well no bath.

Home away from home. Value for money. Very neat and clean. The place was definitely the best of our whole tour and I would definitely recommend Whaleback.
The hospitality of the owner was top notch. The unit's kitchen, living area, bathrooms and bedrooms are beautifully furnished and have everything you need for a wonderful visit. Will definitely stay there again if we visit Namibia, and we can recommend it for your stay in Namibia.
We were welcomed very kindly. There was enough parking for our bakkie and forest wagon in the garage, as we were going camping after a few days in Swakopmund. The house is really well equipped and very tidy. We would have liked to use the indoor braai, but the easterly weather made that impossible. Despite that, we had a wonderful rest and felt very welcome.
