95 guests' feedbackIdyllic long weekend at sea with whales right in front of you. The apartment is bigger than most houses I've stayed in (three toilets!) with an excellent layout and everything you need at a very reasonable price. A catch is that it is advertised as a three-bedroom, but only two of the rooms are made available to guests. I have two teenage sons who would rather scrub a shower with toothbrushes than share a room, so one slept on the couch in the living room. It was not inconvenient at all because the couch is enormous, but maybe you should just change the description so that guests are prepared. Thank you very much!

We enjoyed the view over the sea. The facility (kitchenette, gas braai on stoep, etc.) offered much more than we expected.
We loved our stay at Whalescape - excellent location and especially the beautiful view of the whales from the balcony. Felt very welcomed by the owner and hostess who greeted us. Will definitely return!

It was a lovely, warm and nice 3-bedroom flat. Would rather go again in the summer, child-friendly and comfy.
Everything about Whalescape was perfect. The flat was very well equipped with absolutely everything we needed. A view to die for and we absolutely loved spending time relaxing on the balcony enjoying the view. Jan was fabulous and gave us so much valuable information with regard to Gansbaai and the hiking trails. John was also very accommodating, thank you. We will be back.

Absolutely amazing place, everything you need. Good walking routes and beautiful view of the sea. Remember your binoculars to view the whales. Was about a festival. Will definitely go again. Thank you Aunt Corrie for everything.
It is spacious and the enclosed stoep is fantastic. Most of the time we were on the stoep watching the sea and having our meals there. We could easily accomodate friends there and the six seater dining table was a added bonus. The WIFI work perfectly and the DSTV was welcome. The only suggestion that we make is to have a larger microwave on the countertop. The very small microwave is out of reach and no normal eating plate could fit.
The view and proximity to the sea is breathtakingly beautiful. Lots of beautiful walks to do. Quiet place to stay and have to drive to Gansbaai for shopping, which is only a few minute's drive. Lovely place to stay.
The place is well laid out and well equipped. The view is breathtaking and it was lovely to stay there. The only negative point was the bed in the master bedroom. It's another old bed that bounces a lot when the person next to you turns over, so it was an adjustment for us. The rest of the amenities were all great. There was also WiFi, which we didn't expect. We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely recommend people to go. The photos are very true to what one can expect.

Unbeatable sea views and we still watched quite a few whale capper dinghies from the balcony, even though it was November. Well equipped apartment, but boiler was rusty, which was immediately replaced when we complained, and a top sheet for a single bed was also provided. The kitchen cupboards (below) and cupboard in the spare room where the geyser is, were not clean and tidy.

The apartment has a spectacular view over the ocean. Safe parking at the back (not locked). Low noise. The bed was not the most comfortable and some items need a bit more cleaning (stains on towel, fan needs deep cleaning, some dirty cutlery, etc.). Can be very hot during loadshedding when the fan is off. The extra bedrooms will work well for a family with kids. The location is great and safe with ample walking and jogging paths next to the ocean.

Beautiful, unfortunately the place was filthy. There was dust, grime, and cobwebs, which created a breeding ground for all sorts of bugs. We sent the owner pictures of the dirt and all the bites we received.
The house was perfect for our gin of 4. Right above the caves of De Kelders with a view like few. There are all the things one needs, and the town was surprisingly quiet for about a December. One would think the place is small but it is very well laid out and feels big. The gas grill (no wood grill) came in handy during loadshedding, could make coffee and food, no problem. We will see the place again.

Very spacious and tidy unit with a view over the sea that can only be dreamed of. When the calving whale cows are just a stone's throw from your porch you can't complain.

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment has everything you need, is located in a place suitable for nice walks and you have the most amazing view from the patio. We sat up late every night enjoying the sunset.

Lovely spacious accommodation with a breathtaking view. We will definitely come again. Here you can relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Aircon would be welcome as the apartment can get very hot. Other than that we had a wonderful stay.
One does not know the area. Would have felt safer if the vehicles were behind a gate.
This place is breathtakingly beautiful. The view of the ocean was magnificent in every way. On arrival, we met with Corrie who was kind, warm and welcoming. Standing on the balcony felt like I was standing on a resort balcony in Zanzibar. It is well located for walking and exploring the surrounding nature. The place itself was clean, well-stocked with kitchen supplies. The car park area is not secured, so any person is able to access the premises. We will definitely be back for another get away.
Recommend the place. It was delicious. Other than both sink plugs not working, it was very very nice.

Shark cage diving with White Shark Projects is a must. It is an incredible experience and the people there are also great.

The apartment looks over the ocean and the view and the sunsets are magnificent. De Kelders is the nicest place to be in the Gansbaai area. The flat is a family holiday home so it is very well equipped and the linen is good. Overall very comfortable and great value for money. We were met on time at the apartment by the agent but she did not spend any time showing us around the flat. We battled to work out the folding doors and blinds. She could have saved us time.
Had a great time. A few things bothered. Gas grill only gas plate and 1 pipe worked other 3 would not work. Don't know if the gas was low or if the braai was broken. During booking at the beginning mentioned we are 4 people and with booking and confirmation it shows only 2 people, which caused us to have to pay extra money for 2 extra people because the app did not display the information correctly. Lady mentioned someone from Upington also had the same problem earlier and they also had to spend extra funds. It's just awkward if you can spend a certain amount of money and then have to pay extra money on arrival. Nevertheless, we had a great time, went for walks and drove around and explored. As 4 women we felt very safe and everything was clean and comfortable.
Was a bit confusing on arrival. owner forgot to send us the unlocking agent's number and when I contacted the number recommended by the website, no one knew what I was talking about. After the 3rd call I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to then I got through to the owner. Which did apologize.
Fantastic, sea view. Layout of apartment fits perfectly. Master bedroom overlooks the sea and you hear sea all night. Glass windows on balcony are a winner along with bench to look at sea. Special thanks to Corrie and her husband. We had a wonderful 10 day holiday. Can highly recommend the place.

This apartment is very comfortable and De Kelders is centrally located to explore the area. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to stay there again anytime and recommend the place to family and friends. It's a shame we can't give half marks. Regarding customer service, I would like to request that the tenants of the unit be informed of the permanent residents who live below this apartment complain about every sound, even that we are walking too fast and then it would be nice to have the loadshedding schedule or -times to be received by SMS. Cleanliness - I would like to give 4.5. I would suggest that since there are no cleaning services, which I prefer, cleaning agents for the barbecue, bath and toilets form part of the rest of the cleaning equipment. These are products no one wants to travel with.

View is fantastic. Comfortable and well equipped and easy to find. Plenty of parking. Security is good. This is the second time we have stayed here. Only thing is it needs WiFi.
Spacious and cannot ask for a better view. Excellent service from the hostess who had to unlock us. Beds in guest rooms a little hard and wind rattling doors, but nothing that a patch in the door couldn't fix. WiFi for the teenagers will be nice. However, will recommend the place at any time.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The house was well equipped. With a beautiful view of the sea. Would have loved for there to be a beach to walk on.

All the above statements remain 5 but a little disappointed in the equipment in the kitchen. No bread knife, no paper towels etc. It would also have been great to have easy chairs on the balcony to relax and just look at that amazing view. The balcony glass windows were fantastic. As a family we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The apartment is spacious and has one of the most beautiful views in the area. We were lucky to be greeted every morning by a family of dolphins that swam past, as well as a large number of whales that came to rest in the bay for a bit. The best indication of how much fun we had was when the tears rolled down from my brother's little girl when they left for home on Sunday.
The apartment is very comfortable with lovely ocean views. We had numerous confrontations with the downstairs neighbour because even though we payed for the unit, he was acting very childish. Except for that, we had a lovely stay.
I would recommend whalescape anytime to anyone. The apartment and the view is breathtaking. Nice for a relaxing get away. However, the person I collected the key from was not friendly and made us feel very unwelcome. She phoned every morning early, first to complain about a bathroom light that was burning through the night and then the next morning to remind us to be out by 10. Believe it or not but on the dot 10 o'clock she was there with her cleaning crew to collect the keys. I don't have a problem with the rules but her tone of voice made us feel like we were her children. Not to mention there are no braai facilities at the apartment, except for a gas braai with no gas. We had to "braai" our meat in the oven. Will consider visiting again when Leona is replaced by a person that can interact with all races and someone with more customer service experience.

Excellent location overlooking the sea and beautiful sunsets. Saw a lot of whales on the way! Neat place to stay that offers everything. Bathroom at master bedroom a bit small and access to shower can be a problem for larger persons. So shower facilities in 2nd bathroom would be a recommendation. Loved the glass balcony - sorry the 2nd glass door couldn't open. So could not hear the sea sounds. The sofa on the veranda is a nice place to relax with a book in hand or just stare out at the sea.

Neat, well-equipped apartment with a wonderful sea view. The large porch has window panels that open and close with see-through blinds to keep out the afternoon sun. Whales come close enough to the side to be able to take nice pictures from the porch and hear how they hum. We will definitely use the apartment again in the future.

The place is perfectly located to watch the whales and it is also easy to walk further, especially for elderly people. The rooms are comfortable, clean and the view from the master bedroom is amazing.

We would recommend Whalescapes to any family, it is great value for money. The location is fantastic with a breathtaking sea view. The complex is quiet and safe. The apartment was nice and clean and everything worked. The only criticism is that we missed the whales! But we will be back again!
It was great! Lots of space in the apartment and the most beautiful view. We saw whales every day and the kids enjoyed it too. There is even a table and chairs for them and the porch is safe for little ones. Very good value for money! Can't wait to go again!
We stayed at Whalescape for five days and the stay was very pleasant. From the porch we could photograph a whale jumping out of the water and frolicking. Take your bathing suits with you, even in winter. The apartment is a bit cold in winter. I suggest they install an air conditioner. We don't just visit the same place more than once, but Whalescape was definitely worth the effort and money.
We had a wonderful time. Wish I could stay longer. It's a fabulous place to unwind and we enjoyed the surroundings.

On the day of our departure the weather was beautiful and the sea calm, then we could see whales and dolphins. The apartment is very nice and spacious, except for the master bedroom's bathroom, which is a bit small.
