On-site facilities include holiday accommodation in the form of self-catering chalets and apartments, a swimming pool, tennis court, wooden treetop walkways with breathtaking views of the surrounding indigenous forest and a walking trail to the nearby Silver River.
Clairewood's private walking trail winds through the indigenous forest and along the Silver River, affording you the opportunity to encounter birds like the brilliantly coloured Knysna Loerie, or one of the five kingfisher species, the red-billed wood hoopoe, Knysna woodpecker, paradise flycatcher or lesser double-collared sunbird. You may also take a refreshing swim in the river's natural pools. Facilities on site include a swimming pool, tennis court and private walking trail through the forest that meander along the banks of the Silver River.
Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, between the Kaaimans River in the West and the Goukamma Nature Reserve in the east, bordered by the Outeniqua Mountains in the north and the Indian Ocean in the south. Wilderness not only overlooks the sea, but also the placid lagoon, the Serpentine, which meanders between the Touw River, Island Lake and Rondevlei.

We had the best weekend ever. It is breathtakingly beautiful and we had a great time relaxing.
It's wonderful and the houses are very comfortable. Friendly service.
Clairewood offers an exclusive getaway opportunity in the beautiful Wilderness. The grounds are picturesque, lush green and very quiet. The detail in the living unit is exceptional. It feels homey and comfortable. Als is clean and very tidy. The outside patio and braai make for a nice visit and inside the fireplace makes for the visits on cold evenings. There is DStv, WiFi and even electric blankets. The kitchen is well equipped and there is also backup electricity. The hospitality we received was wonderful and refreshing and deeply appreciated. We look forward to staying here again!
Our visit to Clairewood exceeded our wildest expectations. We will definitely visit again, this time a little longer!
We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. There was so much we still wanted to do, eg the walking paths, swimming and having a picnic on their neat lawn.
We had a great time. It's very beautiful at Clairewood.
Will definitely recommend this place.
The accommodation was beautiful and tidy, Gerrit received us kindly and was more than helpful. Thanks for a lovely few days away with the family!
The rooms and cottages are beautifully furnished, the outdoor braai box with lots of wood was wonderful. The rooms are beautiful, each with en suite, which was great for us. We were three adults and three children and we really enjoyed it. The swimming area is beautiful and the hiking trails fairytale beautiful.
Nature is beautiful, love the place, will go again.
Dit was aangenaam. Veilig omgewing.
We were living in the apartment. Unit is neat and reasonably equipped. Cabin with outdoor braai drum and wood is definitely something for the summer months. In winter it could get a little cold, as there is no fireplace in the unit. Children kept themselves busy with the pool, friendly dogs, big lawns and the small playground. The 4 wooden deck outlook points bring a unique dimension to the estate.
Clairewood exceeded our best expectations. The surroundings are breathtaking and the accommodation so neat. The wide expanses of neatly cut lawns and well-kept garden made one wonder how it is possible to keep everything so well maintained. The owner, Gerrit, came to welcome us personally. The pool is spotless, unfortunately we had cloudy weather, but still swam for a while. We searched a bit to find the actual walking route to the Silver River but it was an experience. Just take water with you, sneakers for slippery slopes and some fitness I would recommend for this. We had fun playing tennis. Just a note: parents with young children should please watch out for their children as some of the wooden decks that offer breathtaking views are very high. Perhaps the owner could just include a warning about this for prospective guests when sending directions. (this may already be done).
Clairewood is the only place I've slept better than in my own home. The scenic beauty is sublime, the accommodation first class and everything tasteful and exquisite.
We only stayed one night but will definitely go again one day. Very neat and clean. The nature around you is very beautiful, if it is just so peaceful there. Feel like one with nature. I would just like if we go again maybe have like a fan in the cottage, can get quite hot. The TV's signal was ok, nothing short of amazing, constantly throwing flakes on all the channels.
Our last stay after a trip through the garden route with family. Definitely one of the best. Only sorry one could not stay another night.
The location of Clairewood is unbeatable and the birdsong and frogs in the evening were a joy. Unfortunately, Calirewood does not seem to get the necessary attention from the owners to keep the houses in great condition. We were in Eagle Owl where the lounge furniture was sloppy and uncomfortable. In the kitchen, the fridge rattled uncomfortably until we shoved a bread plate under the thing. The oven's switch was broken, but luckily my other half was able to fix it. In the bathroom the shower drain was blocked, not very clean and paint was falling off. The flow of water from the shower was excellent, but the shower for the tub was just a pipe, no head in sight. The bed in the master bedroom was a lovely big super king-size but we had to fight with a winter duvet in the heat of the summer which was no bigger than the bed itself and the promised 'percale linen' was actually old, washed out cotton that has seen better days. Cushions for the hard wooden chairs outside would have been very nice. Firewood for the braai was there and ready to be used and the staff were very friendly. At R2000 per day for two people, we expected more luxury.
Excellent location for a visit to the Southern Cape.
Enjoyed it very much!
Clairewood benefits from beautiful scenery and the tranquility is just what one needs to relax for a few days. However, there are a few snags. Firstly, there are not enough barbecue facilities and wood. For a self-catering holiday this is quite important. There is also insufficient lighting under the lapa by the pool and the deck around the pool needs attention. It feels like the place is slowly deteriorating. Secondly, our chalet did not have the full DStv package as advertised nor a king-size bed, but rather a double bed. Thirdly, it is nice to have the friendly and obedient pets on the premises, but they still seem somewhat neglected and hungry. The one dog looked very sick. One cannot say whether the animals receive sufficient attention and are well cared for, but it is nevertheless disturbing for animal lovers to observe. In conclusion, Clairewood has the potential to be a very pleasant place and I believe the management is capable of raising the standards.
It exceeded our highest expectations and we would definitely recommend it and will definitely come again.
Had a wonderful stay. Neat, with everything one needs. Owners very hospitable and helpful. The oven just takes a long time to heat up and the bathroom lights were unpredictable.
Very beautiful and friendly management. Would love to spend time here again.
The gardens are really well maintained and we would love to wake up every morning in such surroundings. The walkways with the most beautiful decks built with so much care were truly worth visiting. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend.
Clairewood is located in a breathtaking location and the rooms are beautiful and tidy. Everything you need to breathe and recharge is here. Just make sure you have the correct contact details for Sylvia, otherwise you may struggle to get through the gate on arrival. We also enjoyed the walk down to the river. Thank you very much again!
Beautiful surroundings in the forest, a stone's throw from good restaurants in Wilderness, and lovely clean and beautiful accommodation units with small kitchens and braai area if you wanted. We only stayed for one night, but it was too short - stay two or more nights and explore all the hiking trails on the Clairewood estate yourself. Highly recommended!

We needed the rest so much. It is beautiful and neat. Love the lawns and the pool/lapa. Thank you very much for the wonderful opportunity we could have to stay there for 2 weeks. We will definitely see you again.
Very neat place! Restful!
A beautiful place with excellent service!
As a family we thoroughly enjoyed Clairewood. Next time we would like to visit in the summer so that the children can fully enjoy the pool. Can really recommend it!
A wonderful escape from city life and the pool was a welcome relief in the heat! Delicious. when are we going again
Accommodation is of excellent quality in a picturesque setting. Could do with fans in the house and burglar bars in front of windows to keep baboons out, otherwise all windows have to be closed, which can get a bit uncomfortable in warmer months.
Really enjoyed the walk in the forest down to the river with Zorro and George.its an amazing place that is serene and quiet. The view of the mountains is spectacular as is the high treetop walk ways. You get to experience nature in the woods and also get to experience the sandy shores which are 5km away from Clairewood. It's a perfect getaway with a spouse. The location is convenient, shops, restaurants, Garden Route Mall, doctor and other attractions are just around the corner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all it is an awesome place.

We had a great stay and it was peaceful...beware just too close to pool so you hear all the frolicking by the pool...electricity a bit of a problem and it's just too far out of town to walk there or by the sea. Beautiful walking paths on the estate. Very friendly and helpful Sylvia...she is so cute...just want to adopt her!
I was very impressed with everything: the rooms, the large lawns with the pool nearby, the chalets that are private, the child-friendly dogs... everything was just wonderful!
Clairewood is beautiful with amazing scenery. The house is spacious and very tidy. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate as I would have loved to go on the hiking trails.
The place was very neat and clean.
