48 guests' feedbackWe loved every moment of our stay in the Wilderness Forest Chalet. What a perfect setting in the glade, among magnificent trees, with the music of the river flowing all around! The chalet invites you to live outdoors no matter the weather or time of day. The living area, together with the lovely braai area, forms an arena looking onto the glade. Every evening, we were treated to a magical firefly show. Anton was a wonderful host, making sure we were comfortable and well looked after. We highly recommend the Wilderness Forest Chalet.
I would highly recommend Forest Chalet. We had an amazing stay, you don't notice loadshedding at all, gas stove, gas water and heater. Everything and so much more you need in the kitchen. Anton and Lorainne are amazing hosts, when you want to ask or know something they always get back to you and come to check on you. It's a beautiful and amazing place to get away from everything.
Very nice location, however, the cottage was damp and cold at night.
One is again very close to nature and creation.

What an absolutely wonderful weekend. The chalet is deep in the forest, absolute silence, only the birds. Your food finds rest, and your soul recharges here. The house offers everything you need, neat and clean. We appreciated the natural and simple feel of everything, the tranquility, and best of all, no cell phone reception, so we had such a great time. Anton is a great host, he arranged barbecue packages for us, helped out when there was loadshedding and we had to prepare for a wedding. Would I go again: absolutely.

On our arrival, we were greeted and we felt special. Anton was amazing and so friendly. There is absolutely nothing negative we can say about our stay, it was just breathtaking.
Perfect for a birder who would like to see Knysna Loeries. The bathroom is a short walk behind the house with an outside door which was a bit uncomfortable for us in the evenings. Although it is obviously safe we still felt funny that it was outside and couldn't lock.
My husband and I had a lovely time here. Perfect for a small group of friends or just getting away as a couple!
Our stay at the Forest Chalet was absolutely perfect. The chalet was very well equipped, clean and neat. No radio, television or cellphone signal, what a blessing. The perfect place to unwind, relax and recharge.

My two dogs and I had such a good rest. Anton was amazing, even to the point of looking after the dogs and taking them for a walk to the dam while I went to a wedding. Beyond the call of duty indeed. The place is quiet, amazing birdlife, dogs quickly got rid of the monkeys. The room with the massive bed is spacious. Love the rustic cabin with its restaurant style serving hatch. Outside toilet and shower near the river, which is great if you have someone camping as well. The outside bathroom is not a problem and you get used to it quickly. Everything you need, and a decent fridge and stove with oven, microwave in the kitchen. No cellphone reception, so 5 days of blissful quiet. Walk up a short hill if you are desperate. Loved it.
Our entire family enjoyed. It's nice to unplug and get away in such a beautiful rustic place!
Nice weekend getaway in the forest.
This was an incredible time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the bush. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely go back. The cabin is a hidden jewel that we found and was ons of our best places on the trip. The host really made sure that we have everything and blessed us a lot.
One of the cleanest and best equipped places we have stayed. Everything was thought of by Anton to make the stay pleasant and comfortable. Appreciate the flowers in the room and bathroom and the extensive library. The fireflies in the evening were a bonus. Thanks, we'll be back soon.

Although it is a bit far to drive on a single track road, it was absolutely worth it. The tranquility and nature do wonders for the soul.

Beautiful location and peaceful atmosphere. My dog and I really enjoyed it. Anton is a very friendly host. Just drive carefully, the road is a challenge with a small car. I might not recommend it as a place to sleep if you plan to drive around a lot and explore the area unless you have a 4x4. It's a place to relax and get away from everyone and everything. The walk to the waterfall is not the easiest, but totally worth it! I will go back for sure.

This absolute gem is nestled in the native forest and makes one feel truly connected with nature. The chalet provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lorraine and Anton were warm, friendly hosts. I can't recommend this enough!
Far away from the village in the forest, quiet, just nature around you. I will definitely go back again! Especially the walk to the waterfall was worth it over and over!
The access road could be tricky for non-4x4 vehicles.
On the way we almost turned back a few times because the road is terribly bad. There was even a sign on the side of the road saying "4x4 only"! I feel this should be added to the description, our car was almost badly damaged.
Had a great stay, the tranquility and nature together with the rain and birds singing was wonderful. Only negative point is the bathroom which is not part of cottage.
We haven't been able to rest and relax so much in a long time. The cottage was perfect for our needs and even more. It's amazing to not even lock your door at night and still feel safe at all times. Wilderness Forest Chalet is far enough away from everything to have tranquility, but close enough to everything if you need it. We've mostly explored the Knysna forests by vehicle, but we'll definitely be staying here again, and this time I'm not going any further than the stoep - I'll be able to sit there for days and absorb the incredible surroundings. Another reason to come back is the beautiful walking routes that Anton told us about which we didn't even get to - 3 days here is just too little.
Our time at Wilderness Forest Chalet was amazing. We wanted a forest experience and that's exactly what we got there. From the fireflies, wood owls, loons, flowers, birds, water and all the other little things that contributed to this great experience, to the silence. My husband, Wessel, and I enjoyed it incredibly. It was absolutely worth it. The accommodation is clean and tidy and well equipped. Thank you very much for allowing us to be part of your piece of paradise. We are going to visit there again. We are not done watching and listening yet.

A lovely spot tucked away in a pretty little forest. Perfectly rustic and charming with everything that one needs to relax and enjoy the surrounding areas.

This is one of the best preserved pieces of paradise! The beauty, the tranquility and the bird life are incredible. In the evening the fireflies look like candle lights. Anton, the owner also makes an incredible effort to accommodate people, he is a very special person. In the evenings, the owls around you call to each other and in the morning, before the sun comes up, it sounds like you are in a bird park. The walk to the waterfall is beautiful, but requires some effort, but breathtakingly beautiful and worth it!
What relaxing time we had, no WiFi or TV, just birdsong and nature. We went down in a sedan but would highly recommend a bakkie or SUV as the road really needs that type of vehicle, but wow, in the forest it was lovely. Bird watching and hiking recommended.
If you want to stay in the Ritz-Carlton don't go. If you want to make your childhood dreams of looking for forest fairies and goblins in the forest come true, stay in this basic, but spotlessly clean and well-equipped wooden house in the forest. Here there is peace and quiet and more than 100 species of birds around the house and in the immediate area. Friendly and helpful hostess. The kitchen on-the-stoep and the stoep/porch with the most incredible view, are absolutely unique. All the other attractions of the Wilderness available within a few minutes of travel time. We think a microwave would be a very handy addition. We also think that prospective guests should be made aware that the bathroom is outside the house.

We had a wonderful time in a lovely area. We went with a normal sedan and it wasn't a very good idea. The central ridge of the road was a bit high at times. Still, we had an unforgettable few days.
If you really want to get away from the hustle and bustle, there is no better place. The natural beauty is from another world! Strongly consider booking a reflexology session with Lorraine. It's affordable, on-site and just what you need to fully relax and take on the day with renewed zest for life.

We were pleasantly surprised! Beautiful place hidden in the Wilderness forest. Everything one needs and equipped with all the necessities. Beds were fantastic and TV is replaced with stars.
The bush house took me completely by surprise. Alone in the forest. No TV, mobile phone reception, no burglar alarm, security gates or alarms. We did not realize that there are places in our country where one can still live like this. Furthermore, everything you need is there. Anton also made a lot of effort to help us with directions to the cottage. We really enjoyed the two days.

- The road into the valley is steep and the last 400 m of the entrance road to the cottage is fairly rough but can be navigated with a normal vehicle, driven slowly without a problem.- Pets are permitted at no additional fee, provided they are quiet, well-behaved and housetrained. Pets are not permitted on the furniture or bedding. Owners need to bring their pets' bedding and bowls.
- Please no parties, shouting or loud music. In general, please keep noise to a minimum.
- Please let us know if you wish to have visitors - the chalet is booked for your use only - visitors are allowed but only by prior arrangement.
- There is a sign which says ‘Private Property, Keep Out, 4X4 only’. However the sign is a deterrent to discourage unwanted visitors – you do not need a 4x4, just drive slowly.
-Please ensure that we have communication on the day of your arrival. An arrival time needs to be arranged so that you can be met at the chalet. Self-check-in is not possible.
