The cottage can accommodate 4 adults and 2 children, or 6 adults and is ideal for guests looking for a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding attractions of the town and the Cape Route 62.
This fully furnished cottage consists of 2 bedrooms, with a queen sized bed in each and an alcove off the lounge with a curtain which has 2 single beds. The cottage has one bathroom with bath and shower and an en suite shower which is open-plan on to the one bedroom.
There is a lounge and dining room. Also a newly built braai and firepit area for your entertainment with a portable braai. The garden at the back is quite spacious. The entire property is enclosed and has security cameras and burglar bars for your protection.
The cottage has a covered veranda where you can enjoy the stunning vista of the mountains. There is a braai area under a huge oak tree with a portable braai, equipment and free wood. Sit under the Karoo stars at night where the lights in the tree give off a magical glow. The house is right next to the iconic Diesel and Creme road side diner where one can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast and lunch and free Wi-Fi. My other neighbor is the Dung Beetle bar where you can enjoy a frosty beer and sport on TV. There is a small galley kitchen which is well-equipped to cook meals and contain all the basic appliances.
Off street parking is available for 2 cars as well as a quiet cul de sac that will accommodate a few more. The cottage is close to and within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, bottle stores and grocery stores.
Please ensure that there is sufficient entertainment brought with for children and teenagers as there is no TV or Wifi.
NB: I usually send all my guests a detailed mail with household information, check in details and directions. Please note that google map does not have my house on their system. Please only follow my directions and not your satnav. Please be aware that there is no WiFi or air-con. There are fans and heaters available as well as WiFi at the Diesel and Creme next door. We will be doing an inventory check at each check out which is in both the hosts and guests interests, as well as ensuring that the guest has not left any belongings behind.

Very peaceful and quiet.
Within walking distance of eateries and shops. Power sufficient. Good communication. Cosy. Slept well.
Residential unit is large on a large plot with a new braai area.
A quaint little house. Chalmaine was very friendly and helpful.
Some things are better left unsaid. Would not recommend.
Loved the huge back stoep.
Excellent value for money. Enjoyed it, would stay there again.

The check-in process was smooth. The cottage is old but has everything we need for a comfortable stay. It is very close to the main road and restaurants. I could do a 5km morning walk from the cottage to the main road and up Tinley Street.
The low placement of the electrical equipment in the kitchen was quite stressful with a small child. She could push the puttons and i had to boil the kettle only when she was occupied elsewhere. Rechargable lamps would be a great addition during loadshedding in the evenings; the recharghable blubs were only in the one bathroom and the main bedroom we did not use. . Although the cottage has a gas two-plate stove, the gas cannister was placed in the cupboard in the main bedroom. We were too scared to use it and kept the door closed with our busy toddler.
Stay was lovely, thanks. We loved the fire/braai area, and kids loved being able to run around in the back garden. But some inconveniences - leaking handbasin in the bathroom, very narrow galley kitchen, noisy at the back of the restaurant and pubs, etc. A bit overpriced.
The house needs a proper clean and my husband and I both got bitten by bed bugs. It is also not that suitable for toddlers with lots of open plugs at low heights. Not the host's fault but worth nothing.
Location of accommodation good. The house is in very poor condition. Definitely needs a serious upgrade. Bathrooms need upgrading and one has no privacy.
Unusual, quirky cottage but comfortable for our overnight stay. Thank you to Francine.
Very nice, real cottage, would stay there again.
Wildflower Cottage is on the tourist route of Barrydale and we were able to walk to all the shops and restaurants. The cottage is directly behind a famous "pub" where you can go and watch TV if you want, but it was dead quiet at night.
There are electricity problems - warnings of power going out if you turn on the boiler and geyser at the same time!? Is it the owner's problem? The lights in the house are really inadequate - it's very dark. It seems like this is a common problem at boarding houses. Tell them about LED lights please?
The key should be left in the mailbox with a number lock as it is hard to be on time for crucial collection when on holiday.
Very cosy and clean. Nice place to relax.
A real communion type house. It felt like we were visiting my grandmother's old, clean farmhouse. The most friendly lady received us and no effort was spared to make us feel welcome.
We thoughroughly enjoyed our stay at Wildflower Cottage. Braai facilities were excellent. Everything was clean and functional. Just a pity about the load music from the ajacent restaurant which caried on into the night.
Fabulous little cottage.
Nice place with everything you need. Clean, friendly service.
Booked at short notice and we really enjoyed the unit. Well located and good value for money.
We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed the outside area where we had a lovely braai. On arrival, the lady who runs the accommodation on behalf of the owner and who lives right next door, complained continuously about all and sundry which was unfortunate, and was still topping up tea and coffee once she handed over the keys. After having been informed that the cleaner was not coming in on Sunday morning to clean upon our check out and that no other visitors were checking in on Sunday, the lady was standing at the gate of the cottage at 10:00 sharp (check-out time) watching us packing the last few items in our car complaining again about her knees, the heat, load shedding.
Location very nice. The pools at Barrydale at Tredoux pass are lovely. Everything was fantastic! Was able to watch the Springbok game at the Bar directly opposite the cottage. Was too nice!
We were there in the winter and the house was cold and there was not enough warm bedding, just a thin summer duvet, and thin blankets. There was a dirty washing-up sponge and a pot brush that had seen better days. I did not use them at all. There was nobody wash in the showers and notices that said you use the shower at your own risk. If the showers are not safe, then surely you would have handrails to hang onto? There is no TV nor is there a radio, so heed their advice and take your own music and entertainment. I also noted that the house was up for sale.
Wildflower Cottage has a warm, homely feel. It's very neat and nicely located in the heart of Barrydale! Right at all the restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.
We had an awesome time, my kids could play outside with friends till dark. We enjoyed it. Thank you guys!
Absolutely great service. Beautiful and neat cottage. Had the best time. Would highly recommend.
Great place to stay, right in the heart of town! Sitting on the porch and looking at the mountains, what a pleasure. Just a pity we were only there one night, will stay longer next time for sure!!
We were part of group of 22 people going to Barrydale to visit their Open Gardens and thought there could a shortage of suitable accommodation so relied on their website for info. We were not disappointed and felt that it was excellent value for money. The only negative aspect was that we took too much with us and so a bit difficult to offload everything as access was limited. Excellent braai pit available.
Affordable, neat accommodation near restaurants and shops in a quiet street.
Neat and safe. Slept well.
Service was very good. Value for money.
The cottage is a delight: clean, beautifully decorated and charming. We loved it.
Beautiful cottage in Barrydale. Very conveniently located and a great place to stay at on a stopover in Barrydale.
Wonderful location places you within walking distance of almost every restaurant and shop in Barrydale. Cottage is nice and clean and we felt quite safe.
A great stay, would recommend to others.
We had a great time in the beautiful house. The owner is not done with home improvements yet, would like to see cottage when everything is completed.
Cottage looks smaller on the photos than it actually is. Has beautiful large stoep with an amazing view of the mountains. Has a lovely braai area under a huge oak tree. The garden is absolutely beautiful and very big, loads of space for small children to play. Would have been nicer if the cottage had a television and maybe DVD Player, especially for smaller children to keep them entertained but luckily I took my laptop with to keep my daughter entertained. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at The Wildflower Cottage.
Really good value for money and nice and spacious. It's also very well equipped! It was also very clean and nice and warm. Caretaker had turned on the heaters beforehand so that the winter cold could be dispelled! Nice!
It was very cosy and nicely decorated with a homely feel, and we loved sitting on the stoep enjoying the view. We lunched at Diesel and Creme one of days which was very convenient, and would have loved to sit around the fire but were out with family most of the time. We liked being close to nature so it suited us.
Very convenient accommodation and will definitely stay there again in the future.
Had a lovely one night stop over stay in this cottage which was close to everything. Sure once the bathroom is completed it will be great. Main bedroom could have a change in bed maybe a little bigger. All in all had a lovely stay.
The lovely little house on the side of Barrydale was a lovely surprise! An old world atmosphere greets you as soon as you open the door. Everything is very neat and clean and the place is fully furnished with everything you could possibly need. The garden was just such a surprise with seats under the trees that really invite you to take advantage! We would use Wildflower Cottage again anytime.
The lady who works there is very friendly and helpful. Everything was neat and clean. It's an old place with low doors and a lot of frills, but it's very comfortable and very peaceful.
Everything was easy and stress-free - from the booking to the introduction to the owner to the arrival and departure. The fact that you have to walk through one room to get to the 3rd room is a bit awkward. However, for parents and young children, it will not bother. There is also no shower, which is a shame.
We visited the place for a family event and were very satisfied with the accommodation. There's nothing to do for young people and maybe they should mention it in the advertisement. Basics such as coffee, tea, and sugar were stale and tasteless. The crockery was neat and clean. The fact that they have electricity issues should also be mentioned when you book. The lady who helped us (neighbour) was friendly and helpful. Great rates, that's one of the things that caught my eye.
