238 guests' feedbackLoved the quiet atmosphere and the necessities.
Definitely a place to spend the night during the flower time.
The silence of the farm as well as the history make Willemsrivier Trekpad Guest House a unique destination.
I absolutely loved the farm! It had rained heavily, so there was water everywhere, but we still managed to walk around. The Joodse Winkel was full of character, and the electric blanket was a godsend. For people travelling with a dog, the fenced area lets you relax.
Peaceful and quiet as an out of season venue. We enjoyed our braai and walk along the nearby country road.
It was all as advertised and the experience was exceptional.
The stay was once again outstanding. Very comfortable, clean and tidy. Thank you so much for your amazing service! Walk carefully!
Had a wonderful sleep in an authentic house. We only arrived very late after a layover on the Van Rhyns Pass, but the hostess left the key and we were able to enter easily. Absolutely value for money, and would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful nature, quiet, rich history.
It was a one night stay which suited our needs. The host provided a very good overview of the local areas of interest.
I booked the place for my son and his student friends. They really enjoyed it and it is a very nice environment. Erika gave them great ideas what to do there.
Excellent, made to feel at home and were well informed of what to do and where to go.
Wow, the host was friendly and helpful. What a farm to stay on, the history of it was amazing. The 'aand blomme' was beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights. Will do it again.
Erika allowed us to check in early and recommended a few activities. The accommodation is just off the road to Gannabos Quiver Tree Forest, which was on our agenda. The rooms are all spacious and were pleasantly cool on a hot March day. We were shown around the farm buildings (this is an active sheep farm).
Always a pleasant time.
Yes, very nice. TV to watch sports is recommended.
Pleasant stay in a very peaceful environment.
Very basic but comfortable.
Cute little place. Nice stay.
A very pleasant stay in a rural setting.
What a beautiful location and friendly welcome. We stayed in Blomhuis, which will be so much better if they could solve their water leaking damage. Very comfortable and warm with the electric blankets.
It was. We didn't come up short. Found it interesting with the structure's antiquity. Rested for the next day. Thank you.
Very basic and very impractical. Short update.
The owner remained parked in my parking lot despite my repeated requests that she remove her vehicle. I therefore demand a R500 discount on the outstanding R1500. When I checked out, the owner was so troublesome with repeated requests by the guest herself, her husband and servants to be out immediately that she delayed my departure unnecessarily.
Press cushion is the best.
The host was friendly and accommodating.
Fantastically clean, owners very friendly and helpful.
Love the indoor braai and that solar lighting alternatives are in place. Also, the birds that come inside to ask for more!
Well-situated for the flower season in Niewoudtville and Calvinia.
Clean, well appointed. Thanks for the electric blanket! Hostess is very friendly and helpful with cute information leaflets.
A wonderful stay in a particularly flower-rich and historic environment. Erika was an outstanding hostess. Her enthusiasm and knowledge was remarkable. Our restored old Waenhuis was perfect accommodation for two people, well equipped with a protected braai area. We were able to have a good barbecue despite the rain. The historic farm yard is a nice extra attraction.
Warm welcome, the most beautiful house, everything you need and lovely warm beds! Also power during load shedding! Willemsrivier deserves 6 out of 5 stars!
We were given a warm reception. Accommodation was good. The peace and tranquility on the farm was amazing. The farm is perfectly placed to view the flowers.
Accommodation was lovely and well administered.
Our visit at Willemsrivier baby Niewoudtville was a festival of beautiful flowers and fun.
A must-stay when in Nieuwoudtville while searching for the wildflowers of Namaqualand. This farm is well located, with historical buildings and a fascinating history. A memorable stay!
The tranquility of a farm, a very friendly hostess and host who went out of their way to help two senior members, provide information on best places to see flowers, as well as historical information about the farm and surroundings, a beautiful , artistically decorated cottage and much more contributed to a particularly pleasant three days. Three days was too short to fully appreciate everything!
Erica and her husband were simply lovely, making us feel so welcome and even helping out with a tyre problem. The cottage is basic but has all you need. Most importantly, it was surrounded by swathes of flowers and teeming with birdlife. We even had an owl!
Very nice clean and nicely decorated. Very comfortably equipped.
We felt like we stumbled onto the best-kept secret! This place has soul! We loved our stay, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in a farm-style setting! Just what we needed! Best of all, the little cottage was prepared for load shedding, solar panels, and all!
Safe for children, particularly tidy, value for money, spacious and a warm bed in the cold winter evenings.
Saw beautiful sunset.
Beautiful farmhouse. Had a great stay and would stay there again anytime. See you again!
Nice stay in the Jewish shop. It was clean and comfortable. Could have a nice walk around the farm. Erika was friendly and very helpful.
Being a part of farm life was a wonderful experience. The "Jewish" Shop has been transformed into a comfortable, spacious place to live. Sufficient kitchen facilities are available. Even the absence of TV facilities was no problem.
Much attention paid to the finish and small details. Also appreciated the artwork as decor. Crisp linen and towels. Everything was perfect and we didn't lack anything! Lovely hearth. Unfortunately it smoked a lot, but notified Erika and her husband will take care of the problem. Also enjoyed the beautiful farm, sheep and flowers.
Many walking routes and attractions on the farm and surroundings.
The braai place is great to use but the wire table and 4 chairs with cushions need a good cleaning. The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen are very neat and have everything needed for self-catering. The walk around the site was pleasant and the scenery is beautiful, especially at the fountain.
Friendly and hospitable people who gave great advice on where to go for flowers. Had a wonderful stay.
Neat accommodation with a lovely farm atmosphere. I would recommend it, especially if you like the simplicity of farm life. We enjoyed being there. Friendly reception. Thank you Erika.
Interesting history and nice walking areas. Location for flower viewing unbeatable.
Very safe, the unit is super spacious for what you pay and the people are very friendly. Plus they have dogs. Who doesn't love dogs?
However, the weather was not very favorable. It was very cold. The electric blankets were a bonus, but it would have been cozier with duvets instead. the blanket and one single blanket. At least there was still a thin "fleecy" blanket in the closet. The tiny heater didn't help much. There was a nice kitchen table, but no chairs to sit on when we ate.
We were very excited to visit the place but it did not live up to our expectations. The Peperboom house is very old which is not a problem, but the maintenance is the problem. The beds are of poor quality and after I complained, our double bed was replaced with a lovely bed which we really appreciated. None of the doors close easily and need attention. The faucet in the kitchen leaks, cupboard doors need attention. Kitchen table edge trim is loose and battered. Indoor grilling causes smoke throughout the house. Furniture is all in battered condition. However, everything was clean upon our arrival. Only one battered heater that works. Electric blankets were our salvation!
The facilities were good. The price very affordable. Just a suggestion: working heaters in winter would be welcome.
Erika forwarded a complete list of things to do without asking in advance. The farm is beautiful and has two flower trails, a tractor collection and old prison with beautiful antiques. Accommodation was as advertised and the electric blankets a hit against the cold. Definitely go again.
Peaceful farm stay. Good for the soul.
We could have fun together in clean, very nice houses with indoor barbecue. Thanks to Willemsrivier Trekpad for the referral and the aunt in town who baked the very nice cake for our daughter's birthday. We come again. The houses look and are better than in photos.
Was very good for overnight and well located.
We arrived later than the check-in time and Erika was very helpful in still accommodating us.
It was nice on the farm.
Professional service but still farm and rural tranquility.
The reception was very good and there is a lot of interesting information available about the history of Nieuwoudtville as well as the surroundings.
Willemsrivier Trekpad Guest Houses, Nieuwoudtville is a very beautiful farm with wonderful historic buildings. There are many beautiful things to see in the area. Our house was beautiful.
We were only there for one night. Pleasantly surprised with how big the space is and there is everything you can think of. Kitchen is fully equipped (even gas for load shedding), heaters, indoor grill, large bath. Will strongly consider them for flower time in the future!
Stay on a working farm with interesting buildings. Lots of beautiful flowers in the area on the farm.
We booked on the same day we arrived but everything was ready for us on arrival, we received a very friendly greeting and an invitation to go wherever we liked on the farm. The farm is beautiful and I think the flower season must be spectacular. There are lots of things to do in the area so even though it wasn't flower season, we were still very busy. The house was spacious and well furnished. The only downside was that it was freezing in the house and, although there were electric blankets on the beds, there were no duvets, only blankets, so we were all quite cold the first night (load-shedding also didn't help). We raided the extra beds for extra blankets and were much warmer the second night.
See stars.
This was my second time at Willemsrivier and I would easily stay there again. Erika was very friendly and helpful upon our arrival and departure.
There is everything needed for a peaceful getaway. Thank you very much.
There are so many beautiful houses. Great place to stay overnight in the Karoo.
The units are very spacious with antique furniture which gives a true farm atmosphere. It is very peaceful and quiet on the farm, good idea for people who need a break from a busy lifestyle.
Was a lovely place to stay centrally located to drive to the surrounding places for the most beautiful flowers. Erika is a friendly hostess, and sent a message ahead of time with all the interesting points to visit. The tranquility of the farm with its history is a bonus.
Slept over in BoetaPaul. The houses are old but well cared for, which adds to the former farm feeling. Erika is very friendly and already before our visit confirmed our arrival via Whatsapp and also sent information about the area. The house is nice and spacious with two large bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and large sitting/dining room.
Enjoy walking around and exploring old buildings in a peaceful farm atmosphere.
Quiet, relaxed atmosphere that cottages offer. Beautiful decor.
Well equipped accommodation.
We had a wonderful stay. Places are beautiful and very neat and clean. We would recommend it to everyone. It's peaceful and very beautiful there.
Comfortable accommodation. Evenings and nights in August were chilly, but sufficient blankets, duvets, electric blankets, and heaters were provided to counter the cold.
We stayed in 3 units. It was a visit full of nostalgia.
Second time that I've stayed there while touring with my motorbike and once again it was a lovely experience. Quiet, friendly and original. You will see me again when I travel North in the future.
We had a wonderful stay, walking, looking at flowers, driving around, relaxing. The boxwood forest is a special experience. One has to walk around there, climb mountains, and experience it. Thank you Erika, we will definitely see you again.
We were 6 mountain bikers who wanted to go see flowers with our bikes. What an incredible experience we had. The flowers were still beautiful and the nature was something special. Our place to stay was a pleasure - everything was neat and exactly as one would want it to be. We will definitely stay with them again and recommend Willemsrivier to our friends.
Very clean and comfortable. Lovely walks on the farm. Would definitely recommend. A friendly welcome from Erika. She gave all the details of things to do and see in the area which was very helpful
Friendly reception with the latest information on where flowers can be seen. Clean, well equipped cottage and safe. Happy to recommend.
Location for flowers is great.
Nice day and everyone was happy.
Well located to view the surroundings from there.
Very nice place. Basic, but clean, tidy and conveniently located.
Booking was easy, and Erika was so friendly on the phone when I contacted her. She even sent me a road map of where the flowers are most beautiful on WhatsApp. The accommodation was neat, comfortable and convenient. I would definitely recommend this place to stay.
Cute place!
The dead silence and peace on the farm is exactly what one needs to relax!
Friendly people, good service. Have a nice visit.
In the winter it is bitterly cold on Niewoudtville, but don't let that put you off. It's indescribable the peace and clean air you receive for a few days on the farm. The rooster will wake you up in the morning.
It felt like being on the farm many decades ago. Wonderful! Lovely experience for my teenage daughter. We come to visit again in the flower season.
Lovely farmstead with lots of space and peace. We felt very safe leaving our open trailer here for the evening. Very warm welcome despite the fact that we arrived very very late. Many thanks to Erika for a warm and hospitable welcome.
We spent the night in Bakoond. Quiet environment. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you!
Well located with everything you need. Will work perfectly for a few days over flower time. Friendly, professional service
There is so much history and interesting things to see.
Willemsrivier is a nice experience from arrival until you reluctantly have to pack up and leave. The friendly reception of the hostess makes you feel at home immediately. The unit was well equipped with a real farm feel. Willemsrivier is something you have to experience for yourself, you will go back again and again.
Place is clean and very neat and friendly people.
The most beautiful flowers seen! Thanks for all the pointers on where to see the flowers!
The house itself maybe needs a bit of TLC , and house layout is a bit confusing.
Willemsrivier is an old farm with many interesting old buildings and even a cemetery with some old graves. It felt to us as if our little house stood in a garden full of wild flowers. The accommodation was comfortable with everything we needed and also electric blankets for the cold nights. The owner was particularly helpful and made sure that we knew about all the special places to visit in Nieuwoudtville and surroundings - also where we would be able to eat waste.
Beautiful natural beauty and spacious houses.
We were welcomed with open arms, a bag of wood, a bag of ice and firelighters. We loved the fireplace/braai area in the kitchen. Lovely place to wander around and count sheep!
Excellent flowers in season.
Centrally located. On reception we were fully informed of areas we can visit.
Namaqualand paradise with flowers, birds and streams. Absolutely beautiful.
Ideally located for flower viewing on the farm and in the surrounding area. Waterfall and quiver trees are also not too far.
Lovely farm area.
Erika is top, excellent hostess!
Environment is beautiful. The buildings are not maintained, very old, but basic maintenance can make place more beautiful. Was on tour and this was the most expensive accommodation but most basic. Grounds are also not tidy (gardens are overgrown with weeds and not cared for at all).
The historic buildings were an unexpected surprise - it definitely made the stay more interesting.
Unfortunately there was a roof sheet that was loose. The wind was blowing a lot and the plate was flapping all night. The water drain outside was also blocked. When the basin's taps are used, the water flows back into the bath.
No room service and was not informed about it. Bathroom very cold with open air bricks. Dishwasher only has cold tap! Have to bring hot water from bathroom! Never any inquiry from management about comfort of stay. Dirt road from tarmac in very poor condition.
The accommodation was very neat. We only stayed overnight to drive through to Namibia. We so wanted to stay longer after enjoying it so much. Very nice and comfortable. Can walk around the farm and very close to the town if you need anything. We were offered ice and wood if we wanted to barbecue that evening. Very sorry we didn't.
Friendly reception. Fantastic location. Recommended stop for anyone touring on an adventure motorcycle looking for a place to rest.
Had a great stay and enjoyed nature.
Lovely old world hospitality.
Would really recommend it. Working farm with an interesting history. Great host and surrounded by beautiful flowers and lots to explore.
Beautiful farm, with cottage with appropriate names. We went home in the Jewish Shop. The decor unique, lovely warm bed on a cold rainy night. Hospitality and people are encouraged to discover and enjoy the surroundings. The Waterfall is grand and the Kokerbome a big surprise. Definitely want to go again.
Cozy place with cute old fashioned decor. Beautiful farm.
Clean, tidy, easy to find and very friendly people.
In the heart of the flower world. The most beautiful routes were literally at the farm. If you want an authentic farm experience, this is definitely the place for you.
Clean and tidy accommodation. The farm is a loop court in the flower season.
Regret that we could only stay 1 night. Would like to explore the area better. Erika a very comfortable hostess.
See stars.
Lovely flowers in the area.
We had a great time with our children on Willemsrivier. The farm animals were wonderful for them, as was the barn full of old tractors. We were warmly welcomed. It was cold in Nieuwoudtville and the flowers were not yet in full bloom, but we still saw beautiful flowers and enjoyed what the area has to offer. Lunch at Matjiesfontein was a treat. On a rainy day we visited the quiver forest and the windmill museum on Loeriesfontein, both well worth the effort. The butcher in town sells good mutton at a reasonable price, pack your Coleman for the way back. Skuankoek at the bakery on the right of the road on the way to Matjiesfontein was also a hit. We will stay on Willemsrivier again, the farm is conveniently close to the town and the rural hospitality left us nostalgic.
Highly recommended! Friendly reception. Nearby to visit attractions in surrounding areas. Extremely clean and everything you need for a lovely farm visit.
Erika kindly welcomed us and briefly told us about Willems River's history. Peperboomhuis is very nice and comfortable and we would definitely like to stay here again for a few days if it is flower season.
We were there for 4 nights and feel we could have stayed another night,
Very nice stay, comfortable accommodation, beautiful farm in quiet and peaceful surroundings and very friendly and helpful hostess. Good location for flower viewing and also close enough to town for shopping.
If you want to get out of the city and need peace and quiet, this is the place to be! Absolute value for money, friendly reception, very neat and clean!
The tranquility of a farm life makes you live closer to nature and God. The history of the farm is so interesting. We walked the whole farm and took lots of pictures.
It was such a real ethnic experience
The farm has many interesting places to discover and the flowers are some of the most beautiful we have seen.
Extremely neat Mill House where I could relax for a week. Well-informed hostess was able to tell us with certainty the best places to look at flowers. Quiet farm atmosphere. The house has a lovely braai area indoors, but on a warm evening it can be fully opened and function like a porch. Extraordinary. Unfortunately we could only stay one night.
Hostess very friendly and helpful. Farm atmosphere and festival of flowers. Well equipped unit but mattress and bedside lamps not acceptable. We will definitely stay overnight again.
Jewish shop is a look at a time long ago. But very comfortable and the indoor grill is a winner. We had a wonderful stay despite the freezing cold.
Ideally located if you are into the flower thing.
Beautiful nature, clean accommodation, we enjoyed it
Wonderful location. Beautiful flowers on the farm.
If you come from the city and want to switch off from hustle and bustle, emails and luxury, this is the place. One does not go on a flower tour to the Karoo and expect 5-star accommodation. This is exactly what Willemsrivier offers. It should feel like a farm and live like a farm. However, it was bitterly cold at the weekend and then the luxury of an electric blanket was worth a lot.
A very enjoyable stay.
The flowers were gorgeous, charming old buildings - such a rich history and so many things to do in the area
With all the gorgeous flowers walking around the farm was great. Our accommodation was comfortable, the location was central to all we wanted to see. Just disappointed we could only get accommodation for 1 night.
Had a nice stay. Indoor barbecue was nice. Maybe just put a small table in the kitchen to eat at. Luckily the friendly cleaning ladies brought me one. Will go there again.
The house is beautiful inside with nice furniture, crockery. Quiet atmosphere as well as interesting museum and old tractors.
If it wasn't for the flowers I wouldn't stay there again. The shower is very small and the beds need attention.
Comfortable stay. Safe environment and hostess very friendly and helpful.
See stars.
Only 1 problem experienced with fireplace/barbecue in kitchen. The hearth does not draw properly and if you make a fire all the smoke comes inside.
It's a beautiful place with so much potential, but is being mismanaged. One travels so far, arrives there, then kindness and hospitality are just too much to ask. The people who received us on Sunday did not even try to be friendly. Really very disappointed.
Authentic, but needs serious attention. Items like glasses chipped and broken and fridge/freezer work properly. Will not be back.
Although I only spent the night, I would recommend Willemsrivier with a clear heart. There is a lot to do and see on the farm and children will really enjoy it. In flower time it will be an experience.
Arrival was easy with good communication with hostess, Erika, good road directions. A quick tour of the house and outside on the yard soon made us feel at home. Lots to see on the farm and a comfortable home. Will definitely stay here again.
Very nice on farm like last year too. Stayed in Bakovond. Enjoyed it very much. Everything needed was needed. Will always go back. Museum on the farm very interesting. Enough to see around. Kotzes very nice people.
Conveniently close to Nieuwoudtville. Very safe. Big units for the family. Historic farm. A true must-see.
Neat, clean and the indoor fireplace was awesome!
We slept wonderfully in a very comfortable house that was spotlessly clean. Electric blankets chased away the cold. So beautiful to see that we almost spent a day just on Willemsrivier.
Lovely flowers on the farm.
A getaway to nature - away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Flower time a picture-perfect landscape. Real old fashioned farm experience. Very friendly reception.
Our room was clean, tidy and well equipped with everything we needed for the evening. Erika was a very helpful and a friendly hostess. She also told us on request about the special places we could visit. We are very glad we followed her recommendations. What made our visit to Matjiesfontein special was when we walked among the flowers and came across satin flowers, sorrel, beetle daisies and other flowers. The purple starflowers that look just like their name just appealed to me.
This was the second time we stayed there with a large group of family members. As before, it was very nice and we will do it again in the future.
Pleasant and friendly accommodation with a nice farm atmosphere, close enough to town so you can go to the restaurants.
Very exceptional lodge with a rich history and exceptional culture especially the holiday house we lived in with all necessary facilities. Owner was very helpful and friendly. Would stay there again anytime and highly recommend it.
Erica was an extremely friendly hostess who immediately made us feel at home. The unique appearance of the cottage, Bakoond, was a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed it. We would definitely like to stay there again.
See stars.
About this place I can write a negative essay. The master bedroom had two thin curtains that could not close. The bathtub was noticeably dirty, the towel rail was unreachable above the bathtub and the shower door was broken and the tiles were dirty. I would not even recommend the annex in which we slept to my enemy.
Willemsrivier was one for the books. Would definitely go again, would love to spend a weekend there in the winter. Erika is a top class hostess. Thank you!
Erika is a hostess of a thousand: helpful and innovative. She provided a special map that indicated the area's attractions. The guest soap with the specific house's name on the packaging is a winner.
Fantastic 'old school' accommodation for a good price in a well located place. We arrived late and left early - wish we could have stayed longer to fully enjoy the place - and the host accommodated us without a pain.
Nice quiet farm environment.
My unit was quiet, spacious and well equipped. The beds had an electric blanket on them which was nice for the one cold night. Considering the price vs equipment it was very good value for money. (The mattress may have reached the end of its life.) The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and the location is excellent. There is a lot to do and see within walking distance.
Erika made a lot of effort to share the environment and facilities, accommodation was very well furnished according to the style of the buildings, and we were invited to walk around the farm. Very nice stay.
The owner gives so much information to people that one sees and experiences the best of Nieuwoudtville. Was lovely.
It was nice to make a big fire in the kitchen on a cold, wet evening. Will go back anytime.
Ideal stay right amidst the flowers in flower season!
We were under the assumption that we had booked one unit, but it turned out to be two. Incredibly spacious accommodation, we could very comfortably stay in one. All that was needed was there.
Thank you very much for the special reception and helpfulness.
For us it was a wonderful experience. Neat accommodation. Plenty of blankets and electric blankets which were a necessity in the freezing weather we experienced there. The indoor grill was a bonus as it was far too cold to grill outside. Top notch hospitality. Accommodation that we would recommend with great confidence.
Cutely furnished and very neat and clean. Nice atmosphere and spacious.
Very nice stay. Bed's mattress can be upgraded.
Host made a lot of effort. Flowers beautiful, farm beautiful, cottages well equipped.
The Willemsrivier Trekpad is a must see for the most wonderful flowers. The farm and surrounding area has a rich history and interesting places to visit. If you haven't been here - you have missed out. Just go.
Very peaceful place with a real farm-life feel to it.
The weekend on Willemsrivier was an unforgettable experience for us Louws. You made it possible for us all to be together. Thanks a lot for the warm welcome. We'll visit again anytime.
On behalf of the Schultz's that stayed in the Gletser and the Jood se Winkel, I would like to say thank you for a lovely weekend. The houses were neat, nice and old-fashioned. We had a lovely stay, and even though I didn't meet you (Erika), the contact we had over the phone and via email was pleasant. My own grandson was very impressed that he had his own sleeper couch and scooter - it was a special touch. Thank you for giving us discount. We really appreciate it.
The accommodation at Willemsrivier was comfortable, neat, clean and beautiful. Erika was a very good hostess and definitely made us feel very welcome. Willemsrivier will see me again and I would be happy to recommend it, even for large groups. We were a group of 32, which included 2 toddlers.
Willemsrivier is a fantastic place to get away to. Nice farm life, safe, peaceful and very hospitable owners. Wish I could stay longer!
We set out for a quiet and peaceful long weekend just to rest and we got much more than that. This is the sweetest, small but comfortable old world history presented with country hospitality and fellow humanity. We were immediately at home and could soak up the farm and surroundings with its beauty. We are truly enriched after our weekend here. We are definitely back again! It's not the place for curmudgeons or spoiled "mall" runners.
Willemsrivier is a lovely stopover with nice bedding, safe area, farm sounds and a friendly welcoming. I look forward to staying there again soon. Don't let the fact that they have cheap prices lead you to think that they're not up to standard.
Had a great time in a nice, neat, fully equipped house. Owner very friendly and helpful and thought of everything to make the stay homely. Privilege to be able to stay on the farm and the atmosphere is peaceful.
This was a very pleasant surprise. Didn't realise it was so rich in history. Really interesting. Friendly hostess and everything so neat and clean. Most beautiful sunrise. Would love to stay there again and recommend to friends and family. Thank you again!
Very convenient access to the flowers and also lovely flowers right on the farm. Erika has lots of useful information about the area and where to go which was very helpful. A good place to use as a base.
Cute little place with all the basic necessities.
Owner extremely friendly and helpful. She is well-informed about the surroundings and attractions and ensure that we got the best out of our short stay. The accommodation itself was very well equipped, tidy and beautiful. Would strongly recommend it to anyone.
We immediately felt at home when Erika came to receive us at the gate upon our arrival. She was very friendly and helpful. The Waenhuis we stayed in has a vintage theme and it was all pretty neat and clean, with nice beds and linen. Thanks for the electric blankets and heater in the room. It was quite cold when we were there but we didn't get cold in our place. When you walk out the door you are among the wildflowers. So don't look for a city feel there. I would recommend the place to anyone and would go back again. Thank you we had a nice stay.
We really enjoyed the friendly people and the peace. The accommodation was excellent. Warm blankets and a braai inside saved us from cold nights.
The farm atmosphere was lovely.
The ones shown on the website are not what we got, if you like an old farmhouse this is the place to stay.
Interesting old farm, lots of history, lots of character. Beautiful Erika made me feel very welcome, she's a great ambassador for the Nieuwoudtville region! This area has a lot to offer, not just flowers!
Accommodation is very neat and comfortable. Warm blanket on bed was very welcome seeing that it was quite cool. Nice close to Nieuwoudtville.
The stay in Blomhuis was value for money. Everything you could need, and much more, was available in the cottage. We had a great barbecue outside on the porch and hung out until late at night, slept nice and warm and woke up to incredible birdsong. It was also a privilege to come and walk freely on the farm to view all the buildings as well as the farm animals. This farm is a must if you are looking for accommodation in that area.
We were completely satisfied with the place and the room and bathroom. A little more coffee, tea, sugar and milk would have been very nice. It was raining and we did not want to take the wet dirt road on to buy bread, biscuits and other supplies. Would recommend the place anytime for people seeking quiet, farm-type accommodation.
The owners were very hospitable and helpful. It was great accommodation.
Nice stay, even though it was an old building the restoration was good. Efforts were made to overcome the rainy weather, but more blankets might help. Will go again!
We really enjoyed it. Great farm environment. Will definitely go back there.
We were at home in Jood's Shop, well furnished with antiques. What made me feel a bit unsafe is that some of the windows don't actually close securely from the inside. The hostess only got to see us quickly on Saturday morning to give us flower information. She arranged with us that the key would be in the door upon arrival, and we also just left the key in the door upon departure. Everything was clean and tidy and adequately furnished for our stay. The water deliciously warm. But alas the mattress is hard. We also expected that there would be wood for the indoor fireplace grill.
Value for money. Will use them again.
Hosts very accommodating and friendly. Rustic but clean and comfortable. Fascinating history and surroundings!
Wonderful, peaceful, quiet, excellent host! Highly recommended. Good location close to the town and other neighbouring towns.
Very interesting environment, ecologically and historically.
We were so surprised to see that there are people who still preserve the past for posterity. The old buildings are well maintained and in the museum are the tools of the old inhabitants of those times.
Exactly what one would expect from farm accommodation. No luxury, but everything you need is provided. The farm offers safety, silence (no television), friendly hostess with friendly dogs and a clean natural environment. Recommended as suitable overnight accommodation, but not for families with children.
It's a very cute place, not even 5 km from the town! Very quiet and terribly beautiful! And there is a lot to see especially if you like to walk a bit. And if you plan to stay there, definitely pay a visit to the butcher in town, their meat is of top quality!
Very friendly welcome and very interesting farm and surroundings. It was a cold night and we had to light the indoor fire. As in other reviews here we were blown away. I suppose the other houses may look better but this one needs repair to freshen up the floors and cracks in the doors. It made the place feel like a pondok. Very reasonable price and I don't see many other options in the area, so I would recommend it nonetheless. However, I would rather pay a little more for more comfortable amenities.
We unfortunately just spent one night at the guesthouse, would have liked to stay longer and find out more about the place. Will definitely return in the future.
Clean, neat, excellent location in nature. Relaxing and peaceful. Will recommend it and if I'm in that area ever again, I will stay there again. Awesome!
We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the cottage. There is plenty of space. The surroundings are beautiful with the most beautiful flowers to see. Erika and Arend received us like family. So wonderful to experience a piece of history together with the flowers! All the historical sights definitely give it a nostalgic feel! Thank you very much, Arend and Erika!
The facilities were clean and tidy. We were received very kindly and considerately by the owners and their advice was valuable. The electric blanket was much appreciated.
We will definitely use Willemsrivier again in the future, because it is good value for money. The double bed in our little house, Blomhuisie, was very uncomfortable. The result was two tired people who returned home. A good night's rest is non-negotiable. We also attended the dance at Brandkop and ate some of the area's delicious mutton there.
The dwelling we stayed in was very rustic, but was in keeping with the area. A few things in catering area could be upgraded, but was okay for a short stay.
See stars.
The stay was great, the service was excellent!
Historic family farm that was once a village. There is even a museum. We had a wonderful stay in an authentic, old-fashioned house full of old-fashioned furniture. It was a lovely and romantic experience, and still very comfortable. Fantastic farm hospitality. I would really recommend it.
See the stars.
Reception was friendly. Hostess made an effort to inform us about surroundings and the best routes for flower viewing. Very peaceful environment and private with self-catering unit, well equipped. An experience that takes you back 100 years which was very special for us, especially because we also live on a farm and were able to appreciate everything. It was especially nice to get away from all the luxury.
We really enjoyed Willemsrivier Trekpad. The history of the place is fascinating. My daughter, who joined us later and for whom we made a detour to see the farm is well known to Erika Kotze. We visit Namakwaland every year now for a number of years, and now plan to make Willemsrivier a regular stay-over.
It was so quiet and peaceful and very centrally located. Very good value for money. From there we could drive around and explore the area.
Stayed over one night and enjoyed the hospitality of the Kotze's.
The farm is rich in Anglo-Boer War history!
Everything was clean and tidy. However, the indoor fireplace/fireplace smoked us out. Everything smelled of straw, it was rather unpleasant, because despite the winter cold, we had to open every door and window for the smoke. The cottages take you back to 30/40 years ago: very authentic, but well looked after.
