35 guests' feedbackLoved the outdoors, sound of nature, and family gathering around the bonfire at night.
We had a wonderful stay, the silence and no cell phone reception was exactly the getaway we were looking for. The owners were wonderful and drove us through to our house and to the river and back to our car. It was really great.
Windhoek Farm was exactly what I, my wife, our child and 4 dogs needed. Heidi was very welcoming and always made sure we had more than we needed. We lived in the cabin by the dam and especially loved it because there was so much lawn space for the dogs to safely run around us and enjoy themselves. Beautiful views of the pond, lawn, fields and the mountains. We and our son were entertained with hiking trails, swimming/canoeing in the pond and throwing clay. I recommend Windhoek Farm if you need a peaceful getaway and want to enjoy quality time as a family.
So we went down the kloof to Windhoek Farm, and it was probably the most tranquil and off-in-die-bos kind of stay I ever had. The house is rustic, but in a cool way, and it has all you really need (plus a little scorpion, but that one has now unfortunately passed on. Shame, uninvited nightly cuddling with elderly men is just not a healthy activity for little critters). No, jokes aside, I'd recommend anyone loving rustic out-in-nature-ness to go stay there. Just two little words of caution: The access road is actually 4x4 and a bit of the cliff-edge version of it. And the stoep isn't secured with any fence or whatsoever towards the drop off to the stream. So containing a three-year-old, we had our hands full at times, but that said: The quietness, the stars, the braai fire, the lying in the cold stream, the surrounding trees - awesome place.
Really very nice place. With the hospitable people.
Incredibly peaceful, quiet, private and fun!
We had a nice stay and saw nice birds!
What a beautiful hidden treasure. With friendly helpful hosts. The hike to the waterfall was an amazing experience, definitely not for the faint-hearted. Hiking shoes needed for the rocky, uneven, and occasionally slippery terrain. Pack snacks and lots of water. The dam is beautiful. We really enjoyed the kayaks and the gorgeous greenery and mountains. The gas stove inside the rondawel makes life easier during load shedding and for quick meals. Please note the gravel road can get tricky if you're not in a 4x4. Buy all your food and things beforehand so you don't waste any time driving to town, as it's a gravel road. Hope to be back soon.
We had a very nice stay. Host was friendly and helpful.
Great stay next to the dam with awesome views of the mountains, very peaceful. Bathrooms neat and tidy. Really enjoyed camping here.
It was nice there at the Windhoek guest farm. We enjoyed it very much.
Have everything from pond swimming, kayaking, biking and hiking trails.
The tranquility, setting, and sound of the river were very therapeutic. Thank you.
We had a decent rest over the long weekend. The campsite is neat and clean with a beautiful lawn next to the dam. We hardly saw the boys as they enjoyed the canoes and cycling. Apart from two people at the dam house, we were the only campers. It's nice and private and secluded. . There is also a beautiful waterfall with nice swimming pools. The walking route there is only slightly overgrown and difficult to walk, the boys of course experienced it as an adventure, but my wife would have preferred a more open path. It was a really nice weekend and I would highly recommend it, definitely worth the money.
Had such a nice stay! Safe with a real farm feel! Francelle was a fantastic hostess. Farm ponds were fun to wet a line in. Caught a few bass too! Really nice stay. Will definitely come again and recommend to everyone.
I would definitely recommend going with a nice group of people to enjoy the barn house. (Entertainment area).
Dirt road there very bad. Do not recommend driving there by car. The barn's shared bathrooms are not at all up to standard on the men's side. I am a non-smoker. Place smelled a lot of smoke and you smell smoke in the room all the time like other people smoke in rooms. Other guests were very loud and went on all night. Didn't get any night's rest. I do not recommend the barn at all.
Land will need to be maintained. No privacy, rooms' walls built up to the roof so open at the top.
We had a good rowing and barbecue. The sun bag was incredibly beautiful! The cottage was equipped with everything one needs! I would definitely recommend it!
Lovely, private and away from it all. Beautiful nature.
The Kliphuis is ideal for a family to get away in nature with the necessary amenities such as solar powered lights and batteries, as well as a gas stove and freezer with hot water. Just what you need to rest comfortably. This was a highlight for our family on our tour of the Southern Cape. We highly recommend it. NB: As long as you have a 4x4 car to get there.
We were sorry the weekend had come to an end, because we had such a good time. It is heavenly to sit by the pond in the morning and admire the most beautiful mountains and see the farm life awakening. There are nice walking routes through the fields past the cattle to the waterfall. Rowing on the dam and later listening to the night sounds by the campfire. We stayed in the Cabin next to the dam - very neat and clean with the most beautiful view and some of our guests stayed in the Barn - very spacious with plenty of sleeping space and everything you need. Everyone very helpful and friendly. We would only recommend that there should be better direction signs on the farm itself. Furthermore, I recommend it to everyone who just wants to rest a little and enjoy the farm life. Thank you very much, we enjoyed it very much.
Very nice visit, friendly reception, beautiful nature. Owners very friendly. Our Yorkies were out of their depth on the farm. Dirt road a bit bad at the moment would not recommend driving by car. Thank you very much for everything.
The people were so friendly and helpful with everything. We would go there again any day. We had such a nice stay. Thank you very much!
Fantastic getaway in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Many, many thanks to Heidi, Marlene and Billy for your endless hospitality. Big thanks for allowing us to bring our dog too. He really enjoyed swimming in the pond and walking with us on the farm. We had such a good time and will definitely go again. Highly recommend.
The dirt road is a bit difficult I think for smaller vehicles. However, it is still beautiful and a challenge through the farms and windings, as well as ups and downs. Give it a try, I think it's worth it.
Rested very well in the silence and tranquility. We were specifically looking for a place with a Jaccuzi and there was no Jaccuzi, although photos and information said so.
Thank you Billy and Heidi.
See stars.
What a place. It was just our 1st night sleepover but our favourite. The children enjoyed the cattle and went to the waterfall. Just pack extra clothes because everything was wet. But the effort works. It's a beautiful place with lovely people. Thank you for your effort. You will see us again. Thanks for ideas for gravel roads and routes. It was special.
Great experience, thank you!
We arrived a little late but we were warmly welcomed. The place is neat and tidy. I loved the huge fireplace. We will surely be returning in the near future and introduce more friends and family to the farm. Our time was short, but next time we will explore all the beautiful attractions and adventures the farm has to offer.
Perfect choice and friendly service!
I recommend it to any one.
Quiet and very peaceful, only hearing the calves and dogs on the farm. In the mornings, the calves wake you up! And the Jacuzzi is a winner, and what was great was that we - we could take our two jack russels together and they themselves also enjoyed their holes.
