My wife and I really enjoyed our two nights at Witgatboom. It is clean and tidy and the hospitality was good. We were under the impression that we would be able to drive ourselves to see wildlife, which is not the case. One must make use of the guided game drives (R450). You can go for a walk, but there are buffalo, so we didn't really move around freely. There is a very nice viewpoint not far from the camp which is a definite MUST! Also take cash with you, there is a R200 key deposit.

The stay was lovely. The farm is conveniently located near the highway, so you can occasionally hear traffic. We encountered some minor difficulties with the two-plate stove, so I’d recommend opting for a braai rather than cooking in the kitchen. The place was very clean and organised, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
My wife and I are hikers, never visit Witgatboom Forest Camp during hunting season. You must not walk, they hunt! Furthermore, there are buffalo on the farm, so you won't be able to walk outside hunting season either!

What an experience for the soul was our stay of two weeks in the Boskamp! The incredible tranquility (we were alone in the forest camp for most of our stay) and the animals that came to visit us so often made it a special experience. The staff received us generously and provided fantastic service. Special thanks to Vicky who went out of her way to meet our needs, to Johnny who so generously shared his knowledge about the animals, plants and environment with us during our game drive. Thanks also to Johanna who cleaned our place so beautifully every day, always with a smile on her face. Uncle Hendrik, your hand can be seen in everything. You have a little gem in Witgatboom Boskamp!

Beautiful, very neat units. Comfortable with everything needed. Coffee, sugar, biscuits and even a fresh bottle of milk in the fridge was a big bonus. No loadshedding and so safe. Was a great getaway.

I had a great rest, I will definitely visit "my" piece of woodland again. The wildlife was something to experience. The nightingales danced for me, the hornbill came to "knock" me awake, and the goats roam the camp, so to speak. This is definitely a getaway to remember. Well done to the management. Witgatboom is definitely an all-in-one place for me. The staff are fantastic, warm and make you feel extremely comfortable. The environment is safe and very peaceful. Camp is very clean and tidy. Units are fantastic. I enjoy the idea that it doesn't have a resort effect. It's a place where you can see and experience the woodland in all its glory. The wildlife is beautiful.
Amazing place to rest.
We had such a nice stay there as family and friends. The units are so clean and tidy, the forest life peaceful and beautiful and the camp so nicely furnished. The children rode the cobblestone paths on their bikes and enjoyed every bit of it. The boma with the big fire pit was also special. We also went hunting and Christo was a great host who always made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely go back again and recommend to anyone!

Witgatboom Boskamp is a well-managed game farm. Andre, the host, is very hospitable and knowledgeable about all things to do with the bush and wildlife. Our little thatch cottage was comfortable, cosy and was a perfect retreat from the city. We were able to go walking on the various boskamp roads, to three different waterholes, and the viewing platform was a highlight. It was my first time to see the goldern wildebeest, and later to see a loan sable.
It was very quiet and peaceful. Although it rained quite a bit, the air con was most welcome, especially during the warm nights. This place is ideal for a group, I wouldn't come alone again.

Only just over 2 hours on the highway from Joburg, the bushcamp delivers great value for money and a very clean and friendly atmosphere. Dip pool is a great experience. Saw at least nine varieties of game. Easy access on a good, short dirt road. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Clean, new, tidy, well equipped and affordable. Host, Andre, is extremely friendly and helpful.
From early morning walks in the forest, to late night wood fires and wildlife moving through the camp we can truly recommend Witgatboom to any family, friends or couple. The forest camp's layout is ideally located around the boma, which is well stoked every afternoon and burns well into the evening. We will for sure make a reservation here again in the near future.
Besides the rich variety of birds, we were visited in the camp by ostriches, nyala, blue wildebeest, giraffes and impalas. Truly an unforgettable weekend. Andre stopped by every day to see if we needed anything. Excellent hospitality!

Tea, coffee and biscuits as well as milk in the fridge was a nice treat. The management went out of their way to make us feel at home. Even drove back to the campsite specially with a pack of ice for us. They can also consider adding two wine glasses and two stainless steel glasses to their stock. We will definitely want to stay there again.
The camp is very quiet - if you want to get out of the city and just see stars and hear night sounds in the evening, only 2 hours out of Johannesburg, this is for you. Nice to be able to walk or ride a bike in the forest and see the animals and animals up close - just be careful of wild animals. Game drives are available, but you also pay if you want to use your own car.

We had a great time at Witgatboom forest camp. The house was clean and tidy and everything we needed was there. Each unit has a braai with an interesting turning mechanism to set your potty up and down. We went for long walks in the field and saw a lot of game, also on the game drive. In the evening the night monkeys come through the camp and we were able to see them up close. If you want to get away from noise and commotion this is the perfect destination.

We really enjoyed Die Witgatboom. Had a very neat and friendly reception and we can really recommend them, especially as a large group. Nice cozy atmosphere and a nice campfire under the stars. Please be just pay attention to the room key deposit and take cash with you.

Good service after lightning knocks out power. Friendly management. It's just a shame guests can't drive themselves to look for animals - additional costs for this can have a negative effect. If the farm is mapped with a drone, accessible routes are marked can offer a solution!

Helena was a wonderful hostess. We enjoyed every moment at Witgatboom. Quiet around a barbecue fire with the Bushveld silence around us. If I could give a 6/5 I would. The staff are friendly and helpful. I have never seen such a clean and tidy self-catering. The chalet sparkled. We had plenty of hot water and delicious dry Bosveld wood. Thank you so much Helena, boys and team for a weekend with our baby that we will always cherish. The weekend ended on a high note with the giraffes who came to visit the pool this morning. The place is beautiful and clean, it's a great place if you need some time away from city life.

Small items that need attention, eg. shower spills over the glass wall because there are no shower heads, light was taken out in the cool drink fridge, water very muddy ─ filters will help. Not enough wood to heat the hot water donkey and indoor braai (there was plenty in the boma, but too big stumps to use with the donkeys). Otherwise, the accommodation and facilities were very nice.
Trouble with the wood, there is a limit on the wood not informed about it. Hot water: The donkeys are not heated enough. Paid wood.
All the staff were very helpful, never a grumpy face, willing to help whenever asked, safe and secure, def will be back

The lodge is recommended for individuals who'd like to experience nature. We didn't see much game since health problems prohibited us from going on a paid game drive. We were a bit disappointed with dinner since, according to us, it wasn't worth the price. The treatment we received was very kind and we really liked Helena.
