46 guests' feedbackBreathtaking views and very private. The tent is fully equipped, and clean and tidy. However, the road is very rocky; chances are good that your vehicle can be damaged, even if it is a 2x4 or 4x4.
What a wonderful experience! The house was tidy and had everything one could need. The dough and 'piggy' were a welcome surprise. The view was exceptional and the boma and sink pool added well to the atmosphere. It's private and you can sit outside next to a fire and listen to all the birds. We will definitely visit again. The road up the mountain was rough at times, but it was definitely worth it.
See stars.
It was such a fun weekend. Quiet, peaceful with the most beautiful mountain slopes. Could go for a long walk. Burned a lot shortly before visiting, but despite that it was delicious.
Rest and peace! Beautiful surroundings. Thanks to Daniel who came to help when the 4x2 had a little trouble getting uphill over the wet rocks and slippery clay soil. We will most definitely go again in the future.
What an incredible find, loved our time here and would definitely recommend Wolwekrans.
Wolwekrans exceeded all our expectations. On our arrival we were surprised with dough in the fridge and that evening we could bake a sandwich over the coals in the little pig. The views are amazing and we really enjoyed the walk. The hot tub was a welcome treat after all the walking. The house is well equipped and we were able to relax properly and just forget about the normal working day. The bathroom is definitely very unique and makes you feel close to nature. However, the right vehicle is a must as the road to the property is full of challenges. Worth it though. We can highly recommend Wolweberg.
Stairs of comparison for nice. Nice, nicer, Wolwekrans.
It had been absolutely breathtaking. The view is an experience and the chalet is of top quality! I do suggest that people go with a 4x4 or 2x4 vehicle that is not low. The road is rough, but the experience takes the cake!
We had a wonderful stay. Great service, breathtaking scenery and views. Wonderfully equipped with everything one could need. The hot tub was lovely - our children thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything beautifully clean and lovely. It had been a lovely weekend. We even braved the Weltevreden route up to the Sudwala caves with our mountain bikes.
Was a weekend. Was particularly incredible views.
Fantastic location. Everything nicely furnished and comfortable in chalet.
Terribly nice stay! The accommodation and view were breathtaking.
We rested, walked and were in nature.
It was wow, the most beautiful view and well furnished.
It's a beautiful place! The nature is beautiful. There are hiking trails. The place is well appointed and the swimming spot is a bonus. The dough in the fridge was a lovely surprise! Although the road is not for ordinary vehicles, it is certainly worth the effort.
Incredibly beautiful place even if the road was a bit of a challenge to get to the lodge. But once you're there, you realize it's definitely worth it. The pastry left for us in the fridge was a winner. Definitely a must if you visit the Lowveld.
Food for the soul. Quiet, neat, comfortable, amazing!
Wolwekrans has wonderful self-catering units. The unit is very neat and clean and has everything you need. The view is from another world. We enjoyed the "hot tub". Thanks for the dough in the fridge, it was welcome. We will definitely visit Wolwekrans again and recommend it. Note that a 4x4 or high ground clearance vehicle is definitely required to get to the units, but it's definitely worth it.
What an incredible place! The view from the Chalet's porch takes your breath away! Everything is so nice clean and tidy. There is everything you could need in the cottage. The most enjoyable for us was the "hot tub" with the incredible view! Sarah is so kind and patient with all our questions, we felt right at home. Chalet is super private, felt like we were the only people there! Just be prepared on the way to the chalet. It was quite a challenge, but worth it over and over again!
You won't make a mistake. We had a lovely time and it was so much more than expected. It is so private and peaceful. We thought you wouldn't have cell phone signal, but there was, which was good for us, because our children were at home. You can also charge your mobile phone. The staff make the whole experience so special.
Enjoyed every moment! Great service and stunning location!
The access road to the top of the mountain requires effort, but the accommodation and the views make it more than worth it. Wolwekrans is a gem!
A piece of heaven - the path to the accommodation is challenging - but definitely worth it!
The stay was great. However, there was no brochure to inform us of what could be done there. Apparently there are hiking trails and waterfalls, but we had no idea where to hike or how far it was. There isn't much to do if you don't participate in the activities. The result was that we returned home a day early.
There is no way to describe this venue, I would love to tell the world how awful it was and keep this gem all to myself but to be honest the location is just amazing. They could house you in little brick boxes and you honestly would not care, the views and beauty of this mountaintop retreat make going indoors unthinkable! We stayed in the safari tent option, and slept in a massive and comfortable bed with the tent wide open to the evening breeze and the sound of the waterfall. Days were spent hiking, evenings relaxing by the firepit braaiing and just decompressing. You don't hear or see any sign of the other guests and it is easy to believe you are the only inhabitants there. The only negative would be the access, you definitely need a vehicle with high clearance to get up to the venue which may be restrictive to some.
Completely removed from the city. Breathtaking views! Rooms clean and luxurious. Felt very welcome on arrival. Very nice that they properly stock your freezer with ice, that's usually always a problem. Fresh dough for the piggy oven was a winner!
This is the ideal place to clear your head. The silence is great. It is a big advantage to go a 4x4 car. We went with a 2x4 car and it was quite an experience. The view from up there is also breathtaking.
The view is something out of this world. The best place to be if you really want to take in the beauty of Schoemanskloof! Beautiful place!
It is a unbelievable place with a stunning view! This is a ECO Lodge and the ideal way to reset and clean your head. The hiking trails is beautiful and their is a swimming pool to relax by! I will recommend to arrange your traveling time in such a way that you do it during day rather than night. It is a steep climb but managed it well with our 4x2 vehicle (High Clearance). Will definitely go and visit again.
We really enjoyed our time at Wolwekrans. The road up is rough, but we managed to get up with a Mazda 2x4 pickup truck. The road was dry, I believe with mud it might be a different story. Floors is very helpful and drove other members of the group up as we didn't want to try with a Honda CRV. The place is neat and the view wonderful. We would love to go back again.
The view is absolutely breathtaking! The chalets are neat and clean and the people very friendly.
We had a great time at Wolwekrans, received a warm welcome and couldn't stop looking at the breathtaking view. We pulled the tarpaulin to close the entrance to the porch and our 20 month old toddler played safely on the porch. Any tall vehicle can get there, just take it easy once you get on the 2 lane path.
It is indeed a beautiful place. Calm where you can recharge your batteries. Uncle Freddie and Aunt Andrisia are wonderful and will make you feel welcome in no time. A 4X4 is definitely a must!! Make sure you have all your things you need for your entire stay, because driving 'fast' is not an option - it takes you about 30-40 min to get to the top and the same back down (depending on the again too) We will definitely go back again!
Furniture from the oldest house is not in good condition, but it is believed to be redone soon then it will be absolutely value for money. Other two cottages are new and in good condition.
The place is like something out of a fairy tale book! You are surrounded by the most beautiful beauty of nature and its tranquility. It is truly one of our favorite places yet. This is where families find each other anew. You are away from the hustle and bustle of life and really get a chance to rest. The place is very well furnished and tastefully decorated! The road to the place is quite challenging and a 4x4 or high vehicle is strongly recommended. We will definitely book here again. Thanks for great service!
It was a very nice holiday, little to do except walking and playing cards. But we thoroughly enjoyed nature.
Andrisia and Freddie made every effort to make our stay as special as possible. Would definitely recommend for anyone who just wants to relax. Above all, it's only you, nature and incredibly beautiful views!
We were very kindly received by Freddie and Andrisia. The house is very neat and clean with incredibly beautiful views. The sails that were put on the porch made a big difference when the wind started blowing and it rained on Saturday evening. Early morning coffee with the sun rising over Schoemanskloof is very special. We will definitely visit there again.
Real rest for your soul. It will not be easy to relax so close to the town. Incredible views and birds. Damn good water from the mountain spring. You will love to see the sun rise and set every morning and evening. Incredibly beautiful picnic spot next to the fountain in the gorge. If you really want to get away from it all, stay in the uppermost chalet, no 220v to charge your phone, just solar lights and gas geyser (same amazing water from the spring). The other 2 chalets have inverters with 220v and are much newer but are a bit closer to each other but far enough that you won't be bothered if there are other people. Very good facilities, chalets have built-in braais and boma type braais, fridges, gas stoves, fireplaces, hot showers with great views. Please take just your bakkie or SUV with ground clearance or 4x4. You will be able to drive the road up the mountain with a flat car, but with a bakkie if you drive well, the 3 - 4 km rocky dirt road takes about 25 minutes if you drive slowly. I really enjoyed the path with my 4x4 pickup. If you go with your 3 series you will definitely only go down once again. Remember to go to the Joubert en son padstal to buy great fruit and juice and the best peri-peri sauce in the world.
The weekend was amazing. The scenery is breathtaking day and night. The hiking trail leads to a picture-perfect waterfall / stream. Silence is medicine for the soul. We will definitely make a visit there again. The only challenge is the way up when it rains. A 4x4 vehicle is then definitely a must.
So beautiful, nice stay. We really enjoyed it. Few finishes would make it even better. No towels, and the couches area broken and covered in dust. We didn't go for the couches. So we got 100% for what we went for. Nice chill areas and unbelievably view. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed a lovely rest, walking and had a great visit.
One must make sure you have all provisions and a car/bakkie with good road clearance.
Our accommodaton was lovely. It's beautiful and has so much potential. The road there is exciting and the location was great. Just sad that the toilet leaked. It was unstable to tell the truth, and that part was quite unpleasant. The shower didn't always work and the kettle leaked as well. Unfortunately that did spoil the fun a bit. If it weren't for those things, the weekend would have been heavenly.
All activities are out of bounds if you don't have a 4x4, terrain not safe for cycling and kids. Ideal getaway for adults who only want to relax.

Wolwekrans Eco Lodge is a natural habitat for baboons and monkeys. These animals have unfortunately learned to associate people with food and when units are left unattended with windows and doors open, they will attempt to enter and steal food. Human food can cause health problems for these animals because it is not part of their natural diet. Guests are not to encourage this behaviour by feeding the monkeys and baboons, and guests caught in the act by management will receive a fine.
Keep windows and doors closed and locked.
Should a baboon or monkey enter the unit, please do not provoke or corner it because it will probably feel threatened and may attack in self-defence. Leave a clear exit path for the animal to leave the unit, move towards it, and command it in a stern voice to leave. If you scream, show your teeth, or smile at the animal, it may interpret your actions as aggression.
Wolwekrans Eco Lodge is situated in the Schoemanskloof escarpment where lots of wild game roam the area unfenced. When wild animals are spotted, keep a safe distance, do not disturb them in any way, or attempt to feed them.
Guests who do not respect the wild game and their natural habitat will receive a fine from management.
