This upper penthouse unit on the top floor forms part of the owner's main house but is completely separate and has its own entrance. The lower outside area is for the owners use, solely, though guests may make use of the jetty in front of the house only to get to and from your boat.
The unit can accommodate 5 guests in 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed while the second bedroom, which faces the canal, has a double bed with an extra single bed. There is a double sleeper couch in the living area. There are 2 bathrooms, 1 with a bath and the other with a shower and both with their own toilets. All rooms have amazing views overlooking the Port Owen canal or the Berg River.
The open plan kitchen is equipped with a stove, fridge, kettle, and microwave and all the necessary essentials. The lounge features a TV with Openview, comfy couches and flows onto the balcony that has a portable braai.
There is no secure parking inside the gate but really safe parking outside the main gate with camera surveillance

Exceptional location, close to a variety of attractions and activities. Wonderzee has exquisite views overlooking the Bergriver. Hosts were very helpful and friendly.
On arrival, there was no one to welcome us. After waiting about 35 minutes, the owner finally pitched up. According to him, there was no booking made. Finally, entering and inspecting the accommodation, only to find partly dirty bathroom mats and ants crawling on the bathroom floor. Clusters of hair in the pillowcases. Half-washed dishes and cutlery.

Struggled with power and hot water.
Rob was very friendly. The linen is very good quality, view is wonderful as well as the porch. If I asked for anything I needed in the kitchen, Rob provided it to me immediately. The utensils in the kitchen can be more, such as for example small plastic bowls, a small salad bowl as well and definitely a braai bowl to put the barbecue meat in. More kitchenware because I had to wash a lot of dishes because there is too little of everything in the kitchen.
Place needs a bit of attention, bedside lamps don't all work, there's no braai, and a bit of dust under the furniture, but it's a beautiful place and with just a little bit of attention, and secure parking it's going to be an exceptional be a place to stay The extra bed in the 2nd bedroom unnecessarily fills the room with little room to move. Will definitely go there again.

From here you can explore the area and if you want to use the river for kayaking or boating the jetty is ideal to park from where you can get onto the river with ease. Host was very accommodating making it a pleasant stay.

Rob and Carien are wonderful hosts and we had a wonderful time in their home. The location is perfect. The weather or should I say the wind didn't want to play along every day but it was still a nice 13 days.
Obviously there are many things that are right, but I would think the following needs attention: the place is very full of dog hair, even the bedding, for someone who struggles with asthma it was a challenge, lack things like broom, shovel and black bags, grills were rusted, too few cushions, too few serving bowls or plastic bowls, larger dinner plates, the power points at the bed headboards are a challenge and there is a lack of things like a decent grater and ice container.

Although there was a toilet that leaked a little, a light that was blown in one bathroom and the toaster that did not want to shut itself down, we had a great time. The bird life is incredible and the owner of Wonderzee is very helpful. He also has a ferry that you can on and go bird watching for a fee.

What an absolute surprise! Wonderzee is perfectly located. It offers a fantastic view of the canal. Sunset was very special. Small kitchen is open plan, but equipped. Had a great sleep. Will definitely visit again.
Well equipped 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit with a view of the Berg River. Comfortable beds. Might just put top sheets on the beds too. Stairs were a challenge for our 80 year old parents to climb up and down. Location very central and safe. Will definitely use the accommodation again.
The only thing that I would recommend is better couches to sit on. It is very old and uncomfortable - we brought the white plastic chairs in and sat on that. Otherwise the place is highly recommended. I will stay there again. Please note that there is a steep stair case - the apartment is on the second storey. Thank you, we had a nice stay.
Rob our host received us very hospitably, we were informed what to do and see in the area. The view from the balcony is incredibly beautiful and peaceful.
Our host was absolutely fabulous. Made us feel at home from the time we arrived until the time we left. He was always available and giving advice on where good restaurants were etc. Tranquil, homely, beautiful guest house. Truly a home away from home.
It was a big surprise. Beautiful view over the water, lovely peaceful venue and comfortable affordable accommodation. The host is friendly and very helpful. We had so much fun hanging out and barbecuing on the balcony and the unit is fully equipped. Will definitely go again and definitely recommend people there.
The place was very neat and clean, really a pleasure. It's a very peaceful and quiet area and can't complain about noise at all. I don't want to see this as a negative, but perhaps more care should be taken in dishes, eg grater, bread board, serving bowls.

Everything you need for self-catering is there. Two bathrooms were definitely a bonus. Lovely stay and the view from the balcony is wonderful.
Carpet in room didn't see a vacuum cleaner, fat in oven, hair in shower. When we wanted to shower on Friday evening the drain was blocked. I fixed it myself at 16:00 on Saturday after I asked them to buy a plunger. Otherwise nice stay.
Lovely and comfortable accommodation. Very cute place. Well and comfortably furnished and ideally located. Too bad that the mat in the living room might be used by dogs as a place to sleep because the smell of dogs was quite overwhelming when we arrived there.

It's a very convenient place, especially because there is a place for you to tie up your boat and you don't have to take it out of the water every day. Free live bait was also provided to us which made it easier to enjoy our fishing competition. Friendly host. Will definitely stay here again.

It is a place I would recommend anytime and would stay there again myself. It neat and you get what is on the ad. It is a place where you can relax and just be at peace. The accommodation is very neat and the Rob is very hospitable. The accommodation is spacious with all the necessary facilities.

If you are really looking for a relaxing stay, to cool of in the surroundings and enjoy nature, Port Owen and surroundings are the place to be.
Nice place to stay and very big.
We had hot water/geyser issues for the entire weekend. Host was very receptive and tried to assist with things we were not happy with. Hostess was impatient and irritated with us. Unfortunately, I had to pester them when the water problem wasn't resolved. We abandoned the boat ride because it wasn't on the Black Pearl like we thought as per the advertised picture. The raft that was offered needed to be cleaned so we declined. This was my third visit to Port Owen and my most expensive stay. Pan handle site so access is a challenge after hours due to limited parking space. With a little bit of effort, this place can be a great place to stay. Very scenic views of Marina from balcony.
